YESSS!! This is THE place for Vietnamese food! They are indeed authentic! I have been missing the smell and taste of staple Vietnamese dishes ever since I moved out of California a few months ago. I used to receive Mom's vietnamese home cooking frequently and I lived near the Asian hubbubs with easy access to all the cuisine, but now I have to discover new places here in Washington to satiate my taste buds. Everything I've tried so far has been good. I've been content. But here!! I ordered takeout through Doordash, and as soon as I picked up my food, an aroma of so many flavors filled up my car. Parking is kinda annoying since it's on the street but I arrived within 30 mins of opening hours so it wasn't terrible yet. The restaurant already had at least a table or so, with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if it got busier later. There's a fair amount of space and tables for hungry stomachs! The food was about ready by the time I arrived, and the 30 min drive home left me feeling famished and ready to dig in. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Everything was packaged well so that nothing spilled during the car ride, and everything was so yummy! I ordered more than I originally intended... I was craving com tam (broken rice) and couldn't find a satisfactory place near my residence, so I drove all the way here to Tacoma.. and then I figured, I might as well order their Banh Xeo too! The photos online made it look so good, and it ended up tasting amazing! Slightly crispy and stuffed just enough with bean sprouts, meat, and other goodies. Perfect after drizzling some of the sauce over it. The Com Tam was also made well, and definitely hit my cravings with its classic ingredients. I ordered a Large Pho Bo Vien (meatball) for my son, and was sooo tempted to eat some myself. The broth smelled fresh and the noodles were cooked nicely. Decent portions for everything, too. I definitely need to return to try out more of their food. So far, it has made me one happy Viet gal :)

I was looking forward to trying this place based on reviews and word of mouth. But I couldn't get past the dirty/sticky table and just lack of cleanliness. The entire time I ate my soup I thought about what the kitchen may have looked like and that was a problem for me. I ordered the wonton egg noodle soup. Not much flavor and My shrimp was sitting in my soup with poop on it (yuck). But the service was great! Super kind and friendly And quick! But unfortunately I'll just stick to Lunar pho across the street.
Noticed new pictures on the wall featuring a couple of soups and banh khot , mini pancakes with shrimp, meant to be eaten as a lettuce wrap. This is another version of banh xeo, a larger crispy pancake made with pork belly and shrimp folded into the batter. Not many Vietnamese restaurants make this, so it was exciting to order today. We also ordered bun mang vit, duck salad with bamboo shoot noodle soup, and soft shelled crabs. All excellent. Featuring the Banh khot because it's a special dish. The rice batter was light yet substantial with richness of coconut milk, a large shrimp, topped with diced bacon and scallions. When you add fresh lettuce, herbs, and an aromatic sweet-sour sauce... it's delightfully delicious ( chef's kiss). The edges of this pancake was crispy and added texture to every bite. I prefer this over banh xeo because not everyone can achieve the crisp outer texture. You cannot eat just one!5/5 VK Viet Kitchen is A Must Visit in Lincoln neighborhood of Tacoma. We have sampled many dishes over the year and do not believe there is an underwhelming dish here. There are so many options on menu from appetizers, soups to entrees, with lots of condiments on table to elevate your experience and expectations. There are many locals and their families dining here too with every seat full by 12:30pm. It's a great indicator of their consistency. Come hungry because portions are generous, service is efficient and friendly. Parking is on street and can be busy during weekends .
I had VK Viet Kitchen on my bookmarks. How it got back on after writing a review I don't know. But I just went back which is now a return visit as opposed to a first time visit. I vaguely remember coming here now that I reflect back on the place. That was about six years ago and my opinion remains the same on it. A good, solid four stars. On my return visit I got crispy noodles with chicken along with vegetables like broccoli. All of it was really good and the crispy noodles themselves were fun to munch on. I do like a crunch with some meals sometimes. I got full and took some of my meal home in which it made good leftovers as well. To drink I had a Thai Iced Tea. It was very refreshing and made a good contrast with savory and sweet combination that made up my meal.
Came with my mom and wife on a recommendation from some native friends as a good authentic spot to eat and was not disappointed. Located in South Tacoma in a large Vietnamese populated area. Cute little family owned and operated business. Ordered green apple salad with prawns and the spicy squid as appetizers. Loved the spicy squid (especially the spicy green dipping sauce). Salad was refreshing too and had great flavor. Mom ordered a garlic pasta with boc choy and it was pretty good. I ordered a spicy beef soup and I loved the broth but it had some part of the cow I just don't eat. Fun to try though. Finished the meal with mango sticky rice and it was similar to the Thai version of the same. People were real friendly and we had a nice meal.
It's been a long tme since I've enjoyed such a great authentic Vietnamese restaurant. From the moment we entered the restaurant it just smelled right and it just got better from there. Our waiter was so kind by sitting me at a seat I could just roll up to with my wheelchair. And his suggestions were spot on, too. The vermicelli was perfect with the egg roll filled with yummy veggies and the bowl with perfectly grilled meat. I look forward to returning again to enjoy everything that strikes my fancy. My only challenge wad entering the front door threshold with my wheelchair but the staff was right on it helping me into the restaurant. I miss eating Vietnamese every week in Seattle's China Town for lunch but now I have a perfect substution in Tacoma. Thank you VK Viet Kitchen. I look forward to my next visit.
The sprinkley, cloudy, chilly day called for something soupy. After all the sandwiches we had during our hikes in the Olympics over the past few days, we were feeling for Asian cuisine. We were headed to Tacoma and I came across VK Viet Kitchen on Yelp. Food looked great and reviews were plenty enough. Table is free for all as long as it's available. Once we sat down, the owner came to talk to us pretty quickly. He asked if we've eaten at the restaurant before and how we found out about them. They're a long time standing business around the area, so even on a random Wednesday lunch hour, most of the tables were full. The menu is extensive! There's a lot of menu items that are new to us, but between the three of us, we got the Green Apple Salad with Tofu (S1) and Crab Meat Fried Rolls (A18) to share. My partner got the Bun Rieu Tom Cua (V4) and my brother got the Bun Bo Hue (V3). I opted for Hu Tieu with Soup (P15). The green apple salad was pretty good. It's got a lot of tangy flavor to it because they used green apples and they mixed in a lot of apple slices. It also goes surprisingly well with the tofu and it's nice that they cut up the tofu into bigger matchsticks to match the apple slices. As for the Crab Meat Fried Rolls - these were really nicely fried. Nice, crunchy outer exterior and lots of crab meat in the inside. The pickled veggies was a nice palate cleanser. Finally, for my Hu Tieu, the soup was amazing! It's a nice, light, clear and nourishing broth. It's comforting for the chilly day. They provided a lot of pork liver, kidney, shrimp, squid, and even a quail egg in there. I like the addition of chives as well. Awesome Vietnamese restaurant to take a lunch break at. Employees were friendly and efficient. It was also really nice of the owner to talk to us and just get us comfortable. I've bookmarked this place for the next time we come visit Seattle!
This place is always pack but their customer service is exceptional. They clear a table for us as soon as one is available for us. My daughter ate the Bo ne and I had the bun cha Ha Noi. I ask for extra bread and water and they got that immediately even as they were very busy. Food is good. I had to order extra things to try for later. Highly recommend Bo Ne and Bun Cha Ha Noi and their Banh Can Tom Cua Owner was making rounds asking people if they need anything and how was their food. Such a nice gesture. It was noisy because it's a full house but it's still a good environment. Definitely gonna make my rounds back here to try other food
Consistently good Viet food through out the year. It's my go-to when I crave Bun Bo Hue, Bo kho (beef strew with baguette). Been going here for several years now since I've moved to Tacoma and they have been the best when I can just call and order do pick up. You cannot go wrong with orders of pho, bun Bo hue, rice dishes. Their fried egg rolls and fresh spring rolls are also fantastic. The only slowest time is during Tet (lunar new year) bc they are packed, but you might get some lion dancers visiting for good luck while you eat!
The owners and workers here are so impeccable! They have great food, great service and a nice establishment to eat with friends and family. The food is consistently good, no matter what you order, you will be in good hands. It's all very flavorful and authentic. Price is reasonable. I rarely go to Tacoma but will make a commute here for this place. Did you also know that they make party catering food? And it is soooooo good. The mango salad is my favorite! Try them out at your next party! You won't regret it!
If you love catfish, like spring rolls, and there's 3-4 minimum people eating? Get the fried catfish! It's an entire fish fried, they bring out spring roll wrappers and tons of fillings like veggies, fruits and noodles + dipping sauce so you can assemble your own fried catfish spring roll. I recommend calling ahead so they can get the catfish for you fresh from the market day of. They're very kind and love when people order this!
Don't sleep on this place! Everything we've tried has been incredible- so much flavor, fresh quality ingredients, and they're great at takeout too. It's got a super welcoming vibe inside and the service is top tier.

Restaurant is a little run down and not the cleanest, pots stored on the floor in the hallway with cleaning supplies. The floor was sticky and squeaky. Wasn't feeling great about my decision after we had already ordered. The apple salad was very fishy. A little fish sauce goes a long way. It wasn't delicious. The shaken beef was okay, not great. Same for the beef rib pho. The vermicelli with pork and shrimp was the best dish we ordered and it wasn't anything mind blowing. Glad we had come for lunch and not dinner. read more

I went to Vietnam last year and the food here is legit. It tastes like the food I had in Da Nang and Saigon. There are more seafood options on the menu than most Vietnamese restaurants I go to in Portland. We had the soft shelled crab appetizer, mi xao gion (crispy noodle stir fry), goi vit (duck salad) and mi kho nam vang (sea food egg noodles), and mango sticky rice. All of it was delicious. This was our first time here, we were driving on I5 and wanted dinner so we googled Viet restaurants in Tacoma. The service is helpful, friendly and fast. The prices are a few dollars less than what we get charged in Portland. We'll definitely drop in again if we pass by the area. read more
Visiting from out of state, I honestly didn't expect to find a great Vietnamese restaurant in Tacoma (sorry if you're a local reading this), but VK Viet Kitchen really surprised me. It's comparable to some of the Vietnamese spots in LA. All the dishes were good, but highlight of the meal was definitely the grilled squid. It was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the sauce was excellent. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. read more
Visited VK Viet kitchen on Christmas Eve. We were so thankful that VK was opened!! Food: There is a huge menu and I really enjoyed their speciality food. Ordered soft shell crab - it was amazing and the entire crab is so crunchy. We also ordered Bun rieu and seafood udon noodles. The broth is so flavorful with generous amount of ingredients. Drinks: Upon arrival, we were served with a pot of hot tea. We didn't order any other drinks but very reasonable price point. Ambiance/ service; Clean and spacious restaurant. Good service! I will definitely back time again and try other items on the menu! read more
Vk Viet Kitchen I found on Yelp and just so happened to stop by here last night! I ordered the vermicelli, and it was perfection in a bowl--fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. The balance of the grilled meats, crisp veggies, and tangy fish sauce was spot on. My boyfriend opted for the bun bo hue. The broth was rich and aromatic, with just the right amount of spice. Reminded me of Korean Yuk gae Jjang soup!!!! The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was cozy yet modern. It's clear they put a lot of love into their dishes. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food that hits the spot, Vk Viet Kitchen is where it's at. We'll definitely be back. read more

I'm back !!!! Today was warm & wanted something simple, so ordered 2 Bahn mi sandwiches, 1-Bbq pork & 1- grilled pork and veggie egg rolls & pork also. Soooooooo delish! Maybe a bit much, always nice for leftovers. It is simple & clean restaurant! Beautiful pictures & decor. The staff is great. Pictures next time of the interior. The staff is great & on point. Definitely will be back & recommend! read more
Came here on a cold evening for dinner on a Tuesday. Got seated right away even for a party of 7 without reservations. Once seated, they brought out hot teas. Upon request, they got us iced water as well. The place is the normal mom&pop asian restaurant where you get just enough attention refilling water and service without checking on you every 5 minutes like other restaurants. The restaurant got a little more busier with few more tables taken. The spring roll has sliced/halved springs as well as some bbq pork slices. The peanut sauce tasted rich and good as I expected from an ordinary restaurant. I also got the combo pho for my dinner. It has enough sliced beef, tendons, beef balls etc in the bowl. Broth was clear and hot to cook the beef slices, quite flavorful and not too salty. The bowl of pho for ~$14.50 large is definitely enough to share for two normal appetite. read more

Love, love, love this restaurant. I frequently order from their Tacoma location on DoorDash - the food is phenomenal. Usually, DoorDash orders aren't as great with other places, but I feel like VK Viet Kitchen does such a good job with their packaging, that doing a take-out door didn't change the way the food tasted or the quality of the food. I've gotten the Banh Canh (Vietnamese Udon), Beef Stew, Bun Mam (Fermented Fish Noodle), Vermicelli Noodle Salad Bowl - all are delicious. The number one reason why I keep ordering from them, and also continue to visit their new location: they have dishes that many other typical Viet restaurants don't have. I love the uniqueness, but I love finding food that my mom would cook and I don't get often anymore. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant after our original lunch plan shifted. And were we happy to have discovered this new Tacoma favorite! You can tell it was popular because of the immense crowd during Sunday's lunch rush. We ordered the crepe and shake and beef with the mango (shrimp) salad as an appetizer. While the waiters are bringing out everyone else's food, I was already eyeing the orders and could tell everything here had a generous portions and looked delicious. The the first time I tried this Vietnamese crepe dish delivered! The outside was coconuty and crispy. There was such a nice feeling with shrimp and pork belly. Even though our dishes were carb and meat heavy, everything in typical Vietnamese fashion had veggies and refreshing sauces to lift up the flavors. Super great lunch option that needs no further advertisement in the area. The locals love it. read more

Been driving past this place for 5-6 years and finally decided to give it a try today....Ordered the Beef Rib Pho and it was 10/10 Will be stopping by again to try the rice plate and other noodle soups. This place is a gem in Tacoma read more
Wow this place is good! We ordered combination pho, duck noodles, pork chop rice plate, mango salad, fish sauce chicken wings, durian smoothie and coconut juice. Everything was amazing! We were all so satisfied with our meals, the portion was generous and the price is affordable! They have a large menu selection compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. Defiantly going back and to also try different dishes Service was great! Friendly staff and always available despite it being busy. read more
