Great food and fantastic service. We stopped for lunch leaving Seattle, and were fans of the food. Small restaurant, with good vibes.

    Chicken Pho (Pho Ga)

This was a very cozy place with tasty food! The chicken pho was a bit lackluster. Felt like flavors didn't have enough time to fully develop. But with some heavy lifting from the lime, toppings and dipping sauces, it was a cozy and comforting meal. My mom experienced a similar issue with the vegetarian pho, but she was excited that a place served it to begin with, so she was happy to be able to try their take on a vegetarian broth. Overall, it was a nice experience but not super special. I might go back once more if I lived in the area.

A cute, little place that serves the usual Vietnamese food such as pho, bahn mi, vermicelli bowls, chicken wings and appetizers. We went for an early dinner on Sunday and enjoyed the food and the good service. The lady was working alone handling all of the tables herself. Our food came out all at the same time and it was delicious! We ordered some bahn mi to go for later in the evening too. They are located on a Main Street and there is street parking available. The prices were a little higher than other places, but we were happy with the food and dining experience.

Why would they cut the wings like this??!?

So ordered take out here and was the first time ordering their fish sauce wings. I took a bite out of these wings and the meat on the wings turned into some sort of grainy mess. I spat it out immediately and looked around to see what it could of been. I thought it may have been me accidentally biting into the bone, but no. After further investigation, I noticed slits all over the wings as shown in the photo... smh, why would anyone do this. Especially if you are deep frying these wings, this causes the wings to over cook tremendously. It was a horrendous texture in my mouth. Now that I'm staring at these wings longer, it looks more and more disgusting. Giving 2 stars cause I don't know what the other food is like. And shouldn't judge a pho restaurant just for its horrible wings. Please business owner if you read this. Tell your chef to never do that to your wings. The wings are already small enough. 10-15 minutes without those slits in the deep fryer will cook them through and through. Also got a pho, decent. But could use more broth especially for a large. It comes in a tiny medium sized plastic container. Other places has the taller containers for large. Don't skimp your customers out on that either. Because with this giant beef bone, the soup doesn't even cover half the bowl with soup. Probably will never come back, but hope you guys read this criticism and fix it instead of taking it as an insult.

We finally found our pho spot! Got the #11 Special Pho (rare steak, meatballs, tripe, tendon). The broth was great and came out piping hot (just way we like it). Each bowl of pho came with its own bean sprouts, jalapeños, lime and basil, which its great... no sharing them with my family! Hehehe. The bowl is one size but its not small, nice portion of noodles and meat. Customer service is awesome and very nice ambience. We will be back!

We ordered the spring roll- i opted for no pork, just shrimp and no beef sprouts (if any). Super delicious. They had crispy onions in there which elevated it for me. The rolls were medium sized but perfectly wrapped. The flavor of the dipping sauce was super yummy! This is my #1 go to when I am going to order from here. Unlike other places, the spring rolls from here taste fresh and clean. 2. My husband ordered the ginger and beef pho and the broth was super clean and yummy! He has har tried before and vowed he will never eat it again but surprisingly he gave it a chance here and it did not disappoint! 3. I also had the shaken beef vermicelli bowl. The beef was too spicy for my liking and i would recommend to request for the spice level to a low when ordering. The dressing was not bad but i definitely would prefer the yummy peanut sauce than the fish sauce marinade it came with it. All in all, food was delicious and it is definitely on our top 3 pho go to place around here.

Somewhere between spring and summer is "my face is allergic to the world day". That day is today Looking for a nice spot in my town to support a local Pho place, I found Lunar Pho on Yelp. Altho I was originally thinking of chicken pho. I ordered the beef and ginger pho, which was phenomenal! I had a hot tea and water. They bring the water in a bottle, so that's unusual yet not a bad thing. The true standout of my visit today is not the food, not the ambiance, yet both of those are awesome. The real gem is the server, Priscilla, who is efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and unflappable! She had the whole restaurant that she was waiting on, handing off to-go orders as they came in, answering the phone, and greeting every person that walked in! My pho dish comes with a Chinese donut, which she described as kinda like a churro, only no sugar on the outside. I wanted to try it yet I'm allergic to wheat. She was able to confirm that it wouldn't be in my best interest as there is wheat in the donut. I appreciate her due diligence. Phenomenal service, excellent food and clean restaurant, I'll be back!!

    Grilled pork banh mi

Ordered their grilled pork banh mi, which was very flavorful. I just wished that there was less fat in the meat overall. About 30% of the pork was fat, which I had to take out. Otherwise, service and atmosphere were great!

Spare 27. Grilled Short Ribs with Egg (Suon Bo Nuong)
    Jay C.

Everything has gotten up in price that it's scary to eat out these days. But at the same time, grocery stores are going up as well to where it's about to same just to eat out. With that being said, two dishes was almost $40, but it was worth it. Our server was very nice and polite. The pho broth was tasty. Although an inch disappointed because the noodles were over cooked just a little bit. The spare ribs were a decent portion and had great flavor. Added on an egg cake and shredded pork skin to accompany the rice and ribs plate. I will definitely visit this place again. Give it a try, you'd be happy with the flavor.

But then we looked cross the street on 1st, where there used to be an Anthem, and even though it was already 6pm, this sandwich shop was still open and...there was a BINGO game happening. Whaddya know? So we took a peak in and they were not only serving sandwiches but they also had a cooler full of microbrews and kombuchas, beer on tap, wine, and a whole list of cocktails made from prosecco and other non-hard liquors like Amaro. Truly something for everyone. So we gave our order to the sweet human at the counter and took our seats I'm not kidding, my Amaro sour was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while in Tacoma and so were the pretzel sticks. I want my cocktails cold, tart, and refreshing with a little kick of funk or herbs and I want my pretzels salty. You wouldn't think that's such a high bar to clear but you'd be surprised. Sandwich Starr nailed it. Our Zatan sandwich was tasty but even though the bread felt a little stale. Otherwise the decor is kinda '90s coffee house and they've got bingo! Overall, this is an odd spot but the drinks are really good and it's got heart and it's the heart that makes it Tacoma.

After that I would only visit sparingly, looking for things that were either limited or out of stock at the closest Whole Foods. As of this year, I've made it a staple spot for my vegan and vegetarian options. I've been told that they have mostly organic and fresh produce, which I'm looking forward to checking out in the near future. On my most recent trip, I connected with their deli and hot bar, which is small but not lacking in options. The salad bar has a very well-seasoned balsamic tofu, which is my favorite. I've also purchased some of their Seitan options in the frozen food area that's decent. Overall, I truly love this place. It comes equipped with a decent-sized deli dining area / small shop complete with WiFi services in the back. There you can hang out, eat, or indulge in friendly conversations.
