Staring with the fact that this place is open late with amazing food!! My husband and I stopped by at 11:05 on a Saturday night, expecting only the bar to be open, but the server told us they were still serving food! The restaurant is cute, perfectly dimly lit and very clean and inviting. Our server was friendly, kind and polite, helped up with our beer selections. When she told us she was new we were shocked because she did a wonderful job!! We ordered the fish sauce wings, beef skewers and fried spring rolls and two beers. Food came out hot and crispy. The wings were to die for! Tangy salty and sweet fish sauce over crispy wings. Perfection. Beef skewers were tender, juicy and full of flavor. The spring rolls were crispy and we really enjoyed the Wood ear mushrooms in them! Over all it was an amazing experience. Can't wait to come back and try more yummy food and visit the upstairs bar!
Cute Vietnamese restaurant & bar in North Tacoma! Plenty of parking in the area. A few tables downstairs with one bathroom but lots of tables (bar seating) upstairs in the bar + 2 bathrooms! Food was good. I got vegan pho and vegan crepe. Both very good! Husband got the pho and he really liked it. However, for the prices, kinda small. His complaint, not enough noodles. Service was good. Food came relatively quick. Looking for vegan pho or vegan Vietnamese food, come here!
Ate here with chookerica because we wanted to hang around Tacoma for the weekend. Drinks were strong and tasted good, but I wish that they had the Vietnamese iced rum coffee available :( nonetheless, Chookerica enjoyed her sour Saigon & I enjoyed my bubble lychee alcoholic drinks. Expensive with $13 per drink, Though :/ My small beef pho was good. Simple, yes, but they had all the toppings and sauces that I wanted. Chookerica got the beef skewers, which tasted fine, but not spicy as they marketed it on the menu. Parking available in front of the restaurant, but there is also side street parking available, too, if it overflows. Dim lighting, so watch where you walk. Not much with the decorations or activations either. They have the 21+ bar upstairs, which did not have as many people, so I recommend to just stay on the first floor if you want to be around the people. Service was quick enough, which I appreciate. Staff who knows how to address the concerns of the table with interfering with the table conversation. This location has bathrooms available for upstairs and downstairs, too.
Very friendly bartender who once lived in Aspen. Great food and friendly atmosphere I'll definitely be back. Oh and great prices for happy hour! Highly recommend!
My go-to spot for late-night cravings unfortunately missed the mark tonight. I've been coming here often since I live nearby, and tonight--already feeling under the weather--I decided to stop in for a small beef pho. Sadly, the experience was disappointing. Our order started coming out: the crispy spring rolls arrived, and my partner received his steak with rice and soup. But my pho never made it to the table. I waited patiently, assuming they were just busy, but all that sat in front of me were the basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapeños. The server was nowhere to be found, and the runner seemed occupied with takeout orders. I ended up sitting there while my partner finished his entire meal without ever receiving mine. In the end, I paid and shared how disappointed I was with the service. Hoping this was just an off night, but it definitely wasn't the experience I've come to expect. Also the water glass were dirty there was scum on the rims & the tables & menu were sticky. They need to steam wash those tables & wipe down the menus.
I love this place! You can eat with your kids downstairs or go up to the bar to hang with the 21+ crowd. I've always gotten the phenomenal 24 hour pho but a friend recently recommended the fried rice as the best he's ever had and I have to agree. It's a big serving and I almost ate the whole thing myself. It's perfectly oily, perfectly seasoned, and is peppered with a combination of sausage, shrimp, and, I think, chicken. It's the most comforting of comfort foods, plus they serve it with a side of sauce (for either dipping or pouring on top?) and that even kicks it up once more notch. We are so blessed to have the La Ca Bar and cafes in Tacoma -- I can always rely on them to feed me and my kids very well!
Christina did an amazing job. I decided to have lunch with my sister and we ordered an appetizer and each one of us had a lunch entrée. We spent two hours talking to each other and the place kind of filled up but was very steady. Our waitress did a great job managing all of tables. Everything came out in a timely order. Place is very clean. Bathrooms were well cleaned and very pleasant time at this restaurant. I highly recommend to come out here and check it out and I definitely most likely will be back again.
My partner and I were just trying to find something to eat in the Tacoma area late at night. Turns out, there's a late-night pho and bar spot! Our bartender and server was the sweetest, as the moment we mentioned this was our first time, he introduced us to the menu and provided us with our meals on the house. I recommend this place if you're looking for pho to hit the spot late at night while grabbing a drink, whether that's a thai tea or a cocktail! They also have toasty fire pits that you can sit next to which is pretty cool.
Another place I found through Yelp! My daughter wanted banh mi and I wanted pho. Looked up places that could do both and this funky joint was the spot. It had really good selection of drinks, beer and wine. My pho was pretty good but their pork banh mi was superb! Lots of good meat, bread was crispy soft. The young waitress was really nice and fast. Definitely would come here again. I was small but comfy. I could see it being a fun hang out for evenings.
La Cà is probably our favorite pho place in Tacoma. The broth is always flavorful and rich, and the fried rice dishes are nice too! We've also had the food to-go, but I much prefer it in-person. One star taken off though, because while all the food was very tasty, the rice dishes came out almost 10 minutes later than the pho! And these dishes are best all served and enjoyed at once - piping hot!
Great food, consistent flavor every time I've visited. I forget how big their portions are! Went around lunch time, pretty quiet so the service was prompt and the food came out fast. One of my fave places in tacoma!
Out-of-towner here to say I LOVE this place and already can't wait to come back to Washington to have it again. Was hungry late at night with my partner. Tacoma doesn't have as many late night options as Los Angeles, but the menu of La Cà looked promising. We tried the banh bot loc hue, which I was surprised to see on a menu out here!! It was tasty, though the texture didn't feel quite right--maybe because it was the end of the night and not quite fully hot. The five spice chicken wings were bomb, super hot and crispy and juicy. We also got the com ga tuy hoa, which was wonderfully flavorful. Only note was that the rice, which was cooked with chicken broth, clumped up a little, giving a sort of end-of-the-day texture to it. I know that chicken broth just kinda does that with rice, plus it WAS the end of the day. m My favorite thing was my grilled beef banh mi--the bread makes or breaks a banh mi and this bread was PERFECT. Soft but still crusty, the pickled veggies and jalapeños were fresh and crunchy and a perfect complement to the juicy beef. I would love to try their pork next time. Service was great, the bartender was friendly and the ambiance was nice. Past a certain time of night they close their downstairs area (not sure when, but we came in at around midnight) so we sat in the bar area (a little louder for conversation, but we didn't mind.) Come here!!! Get a banh mi!!! Have a La Cà Collins!! I'll be back next time I'm in town.
I was coming home from up north and was craving pho originally. I found La Ca Bar on Yelp with a quick search and saw they have a great street food style menu also. When you walk in there's plenty of seating downstairs, but not many people were there when we arrived. So we showed our ID and went upstairs where they have the bar and TVs playing sports games. There is also an outdoor balcony upstairs with some seating, but it seems mostly to get fresh air after a few drinks or if you smoke. They have a cool jukebox and vibe upstairs. I changed my mind and decided to order the chicken bahn mi, my husband ordered the spring rolls. Mmm delicious! Just what we needed, not too much food because it was late and we wanted a quick, fresh bite to eat without going to a fast food chain. I want to come back and try the pho next time ;)

Tldr: great place for thai food. I love the quail fried rice. Pho broth is good! Ambiance: kind of loud at night, ngl. I could not hear my family over a 4 person table, coz it doubles as a bar upstairs. But its clean, and decorated well. There's just enough seating for people to come have food. BTW, parking is shared w a market, there was barely any parking when I got there. The parking is also a little narrow, especially when people dont park correctly. Service: very good. They were quick and friendly. No complaints. Food: love the food here. I had the quail fried rice thay came with salad and a side of the pho broth. Broth is flavorful, so Im sure the pho is good. The quail was also marinated nicely, with a tomato based fried rice which was not oily, and just the right amount of flavor. We also ordered two orders of spring rolls, which was more than we thought! One order is the one plate of 2 spring rolls cut in half - so four pieces. Pleasant surprise i suppose, more spring rolls! read more
Perfect spot for Vietnamese street food and late-night cravings, but a nightmare of a parking lot. My family was visiting from California last month, and naturally we needed to find somewhere to feed our party of 6 after our Seattle tourist trip. We arrived around 9 PM on a Thursday; I picked this restaurant because we were all craving Vietnamese food, and thankfully La Cà Bar is open late enough that we were still able to spend time eating together over a yummy meal. We sat downstairs since we were there primarily for the food and wanted to actually sit down and eat together. It was pretty empty when we arrived aside from one table, and we were able to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. They close at midnight, so arriving around 9 PM still gave us plenty of time to order, eat, and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. And then we proceeded to order an unreasonable amount of food. Everything we tried was delicious. The spring rolls were definitely superb (especially when dipped in the sauce), and I highly recommend getting a few for the table because apparently my family and I devoured them ASAP while waiting for our main course. I had to get the Bánh Xèo, because I have absolutely no self-control when I see it on a menu. The crepe was savory, filling, and delicious. Since it was cold that night, I also ordered Bún Bò Huế, because apparently being cold means I need to consume an entire bowl of spicy soup. I personally missed the classic cubes of pork blood that I usually expect in Bún Bò Huế, but it was still flavorful and satisfying without them. I also noticed the food here leans more toward Northern Vietnamese-style cuisine, but everything we had was still really tasty. I somehow managed to finish most of my food despite ordering enough to feed a second family. My family enjoyed their meals too. My son got a bánh mì without the garnish and was impressed by how huge and satisfying it was. Teenagers can be difficult to impress, so when the teenager says the bánh mì is huge and good, I listen. Our server was also really nice and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Now, parking... Oh, sweet Jesus. The parking lot is TIGHT. The surrounding streets aren't particularly spacious either. If you have an SUV like myself, or anything larger, prepare yourself. I was genuinely relieved when I got back into my car and discovered that my vehicle had survived the evening without acquiring any new battle scars. But honestly? Worth it. The best part for me was how nostalgic the food felt. Vietnam is the country where I was born, so getting to sit down with my family and eat Vietnamese street food that reminded me of home was really special. We live far from where I grew up, so finding food that brings back even a little bit of that familiarity means a lot. And after moving away, I really appreciate those little moments where a meal can transport you somewhere for a couple of hours. So yes, 5 stars. Great late-night option, delicious food, friendly service, generous portions, and a menu that scratched the Vietnamese food itch perfectly. read more

Went to this place a third time and it was OK. First was take out, second was decent but not spectacular and third was with my partner and it was so so. Their pho options are limited and not as flavorful as other restaurants. It is a fun location, but next to a cannabis store, so it is not the best location for food IMO. It has quirky decor but not really a homage for Vietnamese cuisine. The wait staff was nice but seemed very green. They kept coming back asking if we needed anything more not because we looked like we needed help or they we were being helpful, it was because they were bored. There wasn't a lot of action happening. The spring rolls were good and I Liked the crispy fried roll in the middle but the pho was disappointing. Probably won't go back. read more
Our neighbors wanted to try this place so we went. Love a good Vietnamese place and this didn't disappoint in regards to the food and flavors. I will say, I have had just as good if not better Pho elsewhere for less money. The service was good, although we sat up in the bar and it was just the bartender, who seemed a bit overwhelmed. The food was on par with what you would expect and came out fairly quickly. The bar is certainly more spacious than the downstairs, but overall not a bad place to eat. read more

Parking is a one way in and you can miss it... drive slow when approaching. Parking spots are small and short. Lastest health is OKAY, so there are a few things they got hit on. Plenty of AC for a hot day, the inside has an old coffee / cafe feel (wood & metal w/ cement floor). We had the Spring Rolls w/ steams shrimp. Very refreshing and delicious. They have open ends which will cause the noodles and some of the insides to fall out, be prepared. 4 stars The Bánh Mì Sandwich was excellent. Packed with meat, they did not skimp at all, well worth the $12. The bread was toasted on top (not too toasted that cuts up your mouth) and the bottom was soft. 5 stars Only negative was the condiments on the table. Did not use since they need to be cleaned. I wanted to use the condiments but not these. We will be returning & staff (1 person) was great for doing everything. read more

Great food. Always seems like their vegetables are super fresh. They have an upstairs bar where you can eat too, which was pretty nice and spacious. Service was decent for being there when it was fairly crowded. Introduced to this place by a vegan friend, so a solid option for everyone. read more
i've been here handful times over the years, but my two most recent experiences at this establishment haven't been the best. the customer service from the bartender is a hit and miss. The food quality doesn't seem to be consistent as well. I came here with a group of friends and the group told me they would never come back. I felt super bummed as I recommended this place for us to go to that night. read more
I thought the food was great! The broth of the pho was delicious and enjoyed the overall vibe. The only picky comment is for a good cleaning of the tables and the tops of the tabletop condiments. They were pretty crusty, but we will definitely be back. read more

I would like to write this review for the owner I love your restaurant. I love how it taste of your food but your customer service is horrible. She looks like she did not want to help me at all. I love to eat. Pho when I eat. My pho I like extra lime and jalapeño. and yes, I drink a lot of water. It is really hard to get the service attention. She does not pay attention to any of the table at all. She ignored us when we asked for a water refill. It took us at least 10 minutes to get one when I asked for extra lime and jalapeño do not get them at all. She was so angry when I asked her for the water refill. 3.5 stars for my rating When we arrived for happy hour and right before dinner rush so no one else was there so we got seated right away. There was only one server running the floor and service could've been better - to be fair we were the only customer for about 30 mins so it's not like it was busy but we would have a hard time trying to get their attention, get our questions answered and it felt very rushed to get our orders in. We ordered: nam nướng and salmon fresh rolls - wasn't bad pretty good, I love that they add extra crisps to the Nam nướng rolls bánh xèo - love how fresh and crispy it was bánh mì thịt nướng - delicious bánh bột lọc - delicious as well Overall everything was good and food came out fairly quickly. Definitely over priced for sure even during happy hour for 25% off on certain appetizers so the deal wasn't that great when you gotta order a drink as well for it to count. read more
Cute little Vietnamese place in Central, with a tight parking lot you can enter from 6th or Junett. Upon entry, we were asked if we were all over 21, since there's upstairs seating with a bar. They recommended we sit upstairs, which I would say may have been our first mistake. There was almost no one upstairs, the AC was crazy cold, and our server barely came around and may not actually know how to smile. We ordered some local brews to start - Manny's and Mac & Jack's Amber were solid. The pho is definitely on the aromatic side, which our party enjoyed. Of course, you'll get full plates of basil, beansprouts, and jalapeno slices to add in. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which was fine. The soup was very mild compared to more authentic versions I've had, and both the beef and hue sausage slices were bland. No pork hock or blood, and no banana flower or ongchoy. I called an audible and subbed egg noodles, which were honestly quite tasty and saved the dish. Not my favorite rendition, but serviceable. Prices are comparable to back home, expect $15-20 per entree. If you're in Tacoma and craving Vietnamese, La Ca Bar will do in a pinch. read more

This was such a surprise find! This place was recommended by my sister's friend and we stumbled across this as we were in Tacoma. It's tucked away in a cute little shopping strip. We both ordered chicken dishes which were both so flavorful and fresh! Some great flavors! read more
