I had high exceptions for this restaurant but I was disappointed. We were seating around 1:45pm and it was somewhat busy but nothing too crazy. We waited for an HOUR for our food. We ordered the deep-fried mushrooms and green mango prawn salad as our appetizers and we didn't even get those to start with. Everything came all at once. The mushrooms were cold and the salad was underwhelming. It wasn't much of a salad, it just had the prawns, bigger slices of mango which were soft and didn't have the crunch, sprinkles of carrots and that was about it. Pho: They advertised their broth is made for 24 hrs but it did not taste like it. It didn't have the depth of the flavor it should have if it's on the stove for that long. The ribs did not have any flavor and were not cooked properly. The meat should be falling off the bone and it was hard to chew through. It seemed like they just boiled the meat as fast they could to make it presentable enough. Com bo luc lac: This dish had none of the vietnamese flavors and tasted more like a chinese dish.

Surprise find. Very hearty pho & a variety of tasty Vietnamese options. Interesting drink selection too. Will be back!

Needed a quick to-go lunch order and was craving Vietnamese. Quick, friendly service when ordering to-go. Waited about 15 mins. Ordered Sp 4 Combo Noodle and Crab Wontons. Loved the savory grilled pork & pork sausage. The shrimp was a bit small and little overcooked. Love the combination of the meat, lettuce, cilantro, green onion, rice noodles, peanuts and nuoc cham sauce. The crab wontons are a little pricy for imitation crab but decent flavor.

I was craving good Vietnamese food and I was thinking VK Kitchen which is popular in the Lincoln District. When I went to find it, the map took me to this spot which confused me. Apparently, this is owned by the family and is an extension. What I love about this place is that it's big, good parking, and food is authentic! I've never had rice noodles this way. They are rice sheets- and wow this meat plate was sooooo good! Definitely try. I also wanted Vietnamese iced coffee or even hot which they said they didn't have but long behold they had something better. Vietnamese ice coffee boba with coffee cream/foam. Omg! This was soo freaking delicious. Rivals Happy Lemon and they said they only sell it at this location. There are sooo many flavors too. It was clean and easy, the staff seemed in tune. They gave me good recommendations. Two major thumbs up!!! Will come back!

wanted to update my review. Been coming here for months now and I feel like the quality of the food has gone down. The pho doesn't feel like it has that depth of flavor anymore and it tastes like that for all the dishes, it's missing something now. It's a bit disappointing and I'll be going to the original restaurant on 38th. Hopefully you guys can make a few changes because the food was amazing when you first opened!

All around solid Vietnamese place with all the classics and more. Prompt and friendly service, large portions for the price, well-cooked and seasoned food. The space is also huge so can sit large parties easily. Easy to get to from I-5 with a parking lot. Recently learned that this place is owned by the same people as VK Viet Kitchen in East Tacoma, which makes sense because that place is also great! Favorites I've tried so far are the beef rib pho and crispy stir fried egg noodle. Try their chili paste in the jar for even more flavor.

Interior is spacious. Beautiful paintings of Vietnam filled the space on the wall. The servers were attentive and nice. They have a variety of items on the menu. I enjoyed all the things I tried. The broth for the steak & brisket pho was good but Pho Bac is still my fave for broth. Very generous portion of noodles and meat. So far my favorite place for fried soft shell crab. I really feel they have something fir everyone. I want to come back and try other items on the menu.

This is the newest location of VK Viet Kitchen (Tacoma, WA). This particular restaurant is in a small strip mall off I-5. Inside is clean and they have TVs playing anime music. Service is quick and attentive. They were quick to seat us, get our orders in, and keep our waters topped off. Food also came out quickly and hot. The pho is exceptional, just like at the original location. They have a solid portion of meat in the large bowls. My noodles were unfortunately a little overcooked and tended to fall apart but flavor was good. We had enough for leftovers with ordering two large bowls for two adults. Fish sauce wings had a caramelized sweet and salty crust, and was a great appetizer for our meal.

First time in and loved it! First the food was amazing and so delicious with bargain size plates. We got the tamarind fish soup, Viet crepe, fried soft shell crab (my favorite), fried Vietnamese spring rolls w meat, and the classic Vietnamese iced coffee of course. Service staff were utterly friendly and willing to answer all my nerdie foodie questions for ingredients on the menu I've never heard of. The establishment is super clean and I even can say the bathroom was super clean. I told my relatives about this place and we'll be back soon! Thank you VK kitchen!

VK Viet Kitchen finally opened their new Lakewood location! I frequently order from their Tacoma location on DoorDash - the food is phenomenal. So, when I saw on their Instagram that the second location was having their soft opening, I had to come in first thing when they opened at 10:00 a.m. this morning. They're 8 minutes away from me! I got the Bo Ne (Dodging Beef) because that's something that you absolutely need to try in person. It was absolutely amazing. Then, I had to get the Mango Sticky rice. $6.95! I won't know anywhere else's that you can get this for under $11. It was so delicious. Other dishes I've tried from their Tacoma location (on Door Dash) was the Banh Canh (Vietnamese Udon), Beef Stew, Bun Mam (Fermented Fish Noodle), Vermicelli Noodle Salad Bowl - all are delicious. The number one reason why I keep ordering from them, and also continue to visit their new location: they have dishes that many other typical Viet restaurants don't have. I love the uniqueness, but I love finding food that my mom would cook and I don't get often anymore.

VK's second location is finally open and I've been WAITING for this moment because I love their first location on Lincoln Street. When I say my boyfriend and I go there at least once every 1.5 weeks, sometimes twice a week :) Their new location in Lakewood is closer to JBLM, so it's a great spot to meet in the middle to get lunch with friends coming from base. Got the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle soup), my favorite! I get my order with no pork hock. The serving is plenty. I got full about 3/4 through. It was spicy and flavorful.

The food was not what we expected. We go to the Viet Kitchen on 38th in Tacoma and is top notch. So we thought it was the same owner but no.

YESSS!! This is THE place for Vietnamese food! They are indeed authentic!…read more I have been missing the smell and taste of staple Vietnamese dishes ever since I moved out of California a few months ago. I used to receive Mom's vietnamese home cooking frequently and I lived near the Asian hubbubs with easy access to all the cuisine, but now I have to discover new places here in Washington to satiate my taste buds. Everything I've tried so far has been good. I've been content. But here!! I ordered takeout through Doordash, and as soon as I picked up my food, an aroma of so many flavors filled up my car. Parking is kinda annoying since it's on the street but I arrived within 30 mins of opening hours so it wasn't terrible yet. The restaurant already had at least a table or so, with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if it got busier later. There's a fair amount of space and tables for hungry stomachs! The food was about ready by the time I arrived, and the 30 min drive home left me feeling famished and ready to dig in. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Everything was packaged well so that nothing spilled during the car ride, and everything was so yummy! I ordered more than I originally intended... I was craving com tam (broken rice) and couldn't find a satisfactory place near my residence, so I drove all the way here to Tacoma.. and then I figured, I might as well order their Banh Xeo too! The photos online made it look so good, and it ended up tasting amazing! Slightly crispy and stuffed just enough with bean sprouts, meat, and other goodies. Perfect after drizzling some of the sauce over it. The Com Tam was also made well, and definitely hit my cravings with its classic ingredients. I ordered a Large Pho Bo Vien (meatball) for my son, and was sooo tempted to eat some myself. The broth smelled fresh and the noodles were cooked nicely. Decent portions for everything, too. I definitely need to return to try out more of their food. So far, it has made me one happy Viet gal :)

Restaurant is a little run down and not the cleanest, pots stored on the floor in the hallway with…read morecleaning supplies. The floor was sticky and squeaky. Wasn't feeling great about my decision after we had already ordered. The apple salad was very fishy. A little fish sauce goes a long way. It wasn't delicious. The shaken beef was okay, not great. Same for the beef rib pho. The vermicelli with pork and shrimp was the best dish we ordered and it wasn't anything mind blowing. Glad we had come for lunch and not dinner.
