Went with a group of friends, haven't have Bambu for a long time. Glad they are still around staff is friendly, inside is clean but got scared when I see the price. Friends got more drinks but we only got a black sugar milk, it has 3 sizes, we ordered medium and it was a size of regular cup, I wonder how small is small but even it's only boba and milk it's $8 for the drink with picture next to iPhone other drinks are easily $10 and up.

The wait can be long. I usually just order on door dash for pick up. Avocado smoothie is my go to and it always turn out well. My issue is their straw. It just sucks and ruins the drink experience. You can suck so hard on the straw to try to get the thick smoothie out, the pressure flattens the straw and it cracks, leaving you with a straw that leaks air on the sides and you can't drink your drink with that straw anymore. Ordered online for pick up: El Camino with 25% sweetness (grass jelly, taro crystal boba, green bean, red bean, and a rich blend of condensed, whole, and coconut milk) and a pandan mochi waffle. The drink was good, but there was too much ice. The pandan mochi waffle was served piping hot. It was freshly made, perfectly soft and chewy. Wait time was about 20 minutes, but everything tasted fresh and made to order.

After my group had dinner down the street, we needed dessert. Bambu was the easy choice. I loved Bambu treats when I lived in Georgia, so I was very excited to see one in Millbrae while visiting. Parking was challenging during our Friday evening visit. The strip was very busy. We circled the strip a couple times before finding a spot. We were greeted by the friendly staff as soon as we entered. My family and I got the following: Vietnamese coffee #6 Fruit addict Pandan mochi waffle Ube cookie The chè was just as delightful as I remembered! It had been a while since my last one, and I didn't realize how much I missed it. The Fruit Addict comes with longan, red tapioca, jackfruit, palm seed, jello, pandan jelly, coconut, and coconut milk. Not too sweet. The Vietnamese coffee was strong, rich, and creamy. The pandan mochi waffle had great consistency and pandan flavor. The ube cookie also had a wonderful texture and ube flavor. Others in our group ordered different items and were also pleased. I will probably make another stop to Bambu when I'm back in Millbrae!

The pandan mochi waffle is pretty tasty. It has a nice pandan flavor that isn't too overpowering. It also has a good crisp on the outside and soft mochi texture inside which is pretty addictive. I don't go here for the service. It feels pretty transactional during my visits and it doesn't feel like the staff are that friendly. I asked if I could get free whipped cream on the side for the waffle and the cashier said they would have to charge me even though the digital & printed menus both advertised it as free. I pointed it out on the menu but they were firm on the additional charge. The store is pretty big and has a decent amount of seating. It hasn't been crowded during the times I visit (usually afternoons).

Wished our Bambu in Sacramento also served pandan waffles. Glad we stopped by here. This place is super cute and the drinks are also pretty! Service was great and food was delicious.

I've never had Vietnamese dessert like this before but it was so delicious! Bambu serves up really interesting coconut milk vietnamese desserts -- you'll like them if you like desserts/drinks with a lot of different textures. The menu has a ton of options to choose from so it's hard to decide, but I got the bambu favorite which has grass jelly, red tapioca, pandan jelly, and coconut milk. You can either eat it with a spoon or drink from a straw bc all the toppings are slurpable which I think is so fun. I was expecting the tapioca to be similar to chewy boba balls, but these were actually a lot different (in a good way). They're a lot smaller and more firm and almost crunchy. The grass jelly had a really good texture and didn't fall apart when you sip it through the straw either. The pandan jelly flavor was amazing too. Every slurp had me guessing what flavor combination I was getting. The inside of this place is super clean and nicely decorated. We were able to find seating easily. There wasn't too much of a line when we went either. The workers are really nice too and the drinks come out fast. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a new dessert to try! This was such a unique dessert and the different components in it make it really fun getting different flavors in every bite.

Ordered the classic #3 Awesome Trio and it always hits the spot! The staff were very friendly and the place was kept clean. I also ordered the matcha and coconut mochi waffles. As a matcha lover, I was excited to try their version but it was a bit bitter for my taste. The coconut one was super tasty and I would get again!

Spacious interior for sitting. Nice refreshing drinks. The Ché drinks are definitely more of a chew than drink. The mochi waffle has an amazing texture and isn't too sweet. If you have a sweet tooth then I recommend getting the free whipped cream with your mochi waffle.

I had a lovely experience with the person here working the register when I visited. She was very friendly and helped me out with the menu and ordering process when I got confused. I had a Thai tea and pandan flavored waffle which was a very pretty green and tasted great; perfect crispiness and softness. The location and interior were also very nice for a hangout with friends. read more

I absolutely love and adore the Bambu specialties and staff!!! I often visit this location to get my favorite passion fruit basil tea or the thai tea and the staff always make my order perfectly to my taste. Not to mention, there is always great music and the seating area is always very clean! It's a great place to hang out with some friends and a study friendly spot if you don't want to stay cooped up at home! Thank you Bambu Millbrae!!! read more

This Bambu in Millbrae was such a pleasant place to meet my friends to enjoy healthy dessert drinks! I came back here the second time and ordered my favorite #4, Summer Delight which had all my favorite ingredients in it. It was a perfect drink for the hot weather that not only quenched my thirst, the flavor was well balanced. It was not too sweet but with good taste. The pandan waffles were delicious, so crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside. We were loving it! The owner told me the ingredients were freshly made in their kitchen daily and even the coconut milk! It's amazing to know that my friends and I can get dessert drinks that are actually healthy for you!! I'm glad I've found this place and I'll definitely be the regular for this Bambu! read more

Not sure what all the hype was about. Milk tea with boba was below average. I've had better from a restaurant and this place specializes in them. My friend ordered something different and he said it was pure sugar and did not even finish his drink. Only positive was the cleanliness and politeness of the staff. read more

I'm not really sure how to rate BAMBU. I don't like it at all but you may love it so I'll give it an average rating. I looked at the website and I see lots of fruits and their website says "Our Chè is made to order using freshly cut coconut water or daily prepared coconut milk combined with select exotic, healthy and delicious ingredients." It also says "FRESH INGREDIENTS PREPARED DAILY". Also, some people reviewed this place as being "healthy!" Great! So in I go and order the Bambu Special. The ingredients are Fresh coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seed, coconut water. Cool - this sounds good. I can see myself getting more fit by drinking this already. Reality check: I get in my car and take my first sip. I'm slapped in the face with a sugar bomb! It was so sweet in fact that I questioned reality and had to mix the drink up to take another sip. Same result. My taste buds weren't hallucinating. There was so much sugar that I turned around to go back and ask how much added sugar they put into this thing. Semi-long story short, they said they put in about 1 ounce of sugar in the drink. So I guess the sugar from the fresh coconut, the coconut water, the pandan jelly and the longan isn't enough to sweeten this drink. They then add about 75% of the sugar in a can of coke in here to top it off. It was one of the sweetest drinks I've ever had (note that I'm not a sweet drink guy so this may be your cup of tea). I won't be going back. To be fair, I also had my wife try it and she was taken aback at the sweetness as well. We then threw the drink out, felt remorse for the waste (time, plastic, money, health) and came here to review it. read more

I have been to a bunch of Bambu's, this one is the most consistently good. The Halo Halo is fantastic. Never watered down like some of the other Bambu's. Thanks for not skimping on the coconut milk. Friends from Vietnam say these guys do it right! read more

I usually love this place but they've really gone downhill during Covid times. Wait times are super long and drinks are inconsistent. You can't substitute any items in the drinks anymore. I got the fruit addict today which I usually get and it was terrible. Just full of the stringy jelly bits, hardly any pandan jelly, and tons of ice. Hope they get their act together... read more

This Bambu location is actually the cleanest among the other ones it'e been to. The service here is also pretty friendly. They seem to be very generous with their drinks and they don't con you by adding more ice. The macarons on the other hand, well, i would avoid those. They were super sweet, way too sweet for my liking. The seats have don't really have a back support , it's more like bench seating. They also have seating outside which is great if you have your dog with you. read more

Edit: The owner reached out to me and apologized for my experience and I greatly appreciate that. When I wrote the review it was not meant to bring the business down, nor do I believe one review would single handedly do that. I do believe Bambu puts out a good product because I love their drinks. So although I wasn't able to get a drink this time, I will be back to get one in the future. Original post: Came to pick up a drink because I miss the one in south city, but ended up leaving thirsty and empty handed. We were third in line, so we thought the wait shouldn't be long. But dayam... were we wrong. Waited 15 minutes outside before we finally got into the store to order. When we got in, we waited another 10 minutes and no one took our order. They would casually come out to check something and casually walk back into the kitchen... never acknowledging us. Keep in mind there are already many other patrons waiting outside for their order, but there was no sense of urgency from the staff whatsoever. We decided to leave because it would have been another 30 minutes before we actually got our drinks. Don't get me wrong. I love their drinks, and I hate to write a 1 star review when businesses are struggling already during this pandemic. But I believe they need to address some things to improve customer service. read more

I found out about Bambu a few weeks back when I was searching Yelp for places that sell Halo Halo close by. Since then, I've visited a good number of times and their food and drinks are consistent each time. First of all, GO FOR HAPPY HOUR! M-Thursday 3-6 pm 20% off all teas, coffees, smoothies, juices, mochi ice cream, and waffles. Great deal. They also have Five Stars, so put in your phone number and rack up the rewards! You can earn rewards like free large upgrade, free coffee or tea, free che/smoothie/yogurt. Now, for their food & drinks. Their strawberry banana smoothie is so yummy! It's refreshing and the flavors are perfect. For their waffles, I've gotten the pandan and matcha flavors and both are good. The matcha flavor has that wow factor. It's just the right amount of matcha flavor and it tastes wonderful. The prices are reasonable too. $3 for a half waffle and $5 for a full one. One time, I got half a pandan and half a matcha flavor and they charged me $5, instead of $6 for 2 different halves which was very nice. For their milk teas, I've gotten the black, jasmine, honeydew, matcha, and peach. The black milk tea is consistently good. The jasmine flavor is very light and lightly sweet. The honeydew is nice & sweet. The peach flavor is also good. The matcha flavor tastes a bit powdery to me. Out of all the milk tea flavors, the black milk tea tastes the best to me. I've also had their matcha blended tea and thai blended tea. Both are also very good. I have tried their blended vietnamese coffee and salted caramel blended coffee. The vietnamese coffee was more on the bitter side for me and I felt it could have been a bit sweeter. The salted caramel one was okay. Overall, it's a good place for drinks and desserts with fair prices. One time, I did notice a customer service charge on the receipt and asked them about it. They mentioned it's an extra charge for using credit card instead of paying cash. I would have appreciated if they told me while paying that using the card would incur the extra charge. So, use cash if you're able. Other than that, it's definitely worth checking out. read more

Ordered Bambu from Uber eats and it came quickly. They covered the drinks with plastic as well so there was no tampering involved. I'm happy with the drinks I ordered as it's my favorite whenever I drop by. Definitely would recommend their smashed avocado! read more

Like we needed another tapioca place in Millbrae. All jokes aside, this new location is just the right size on the corner of El Camino and Victoria. Plenty of seating compared to the San Mateo and South San Francisco locations. The ambiance is hip and modern. Furnished with wooden chairs/tables and cute little terrariums. Service is fast. I was in and out the door in less than 5 minutes. I got the usual Thai tea with pandan jelly (I know not the most exciting thing on the menu). Will definitely be back again! read more

I have been to this location 3 times now--the drinks always taste super fresh and delicious! The coconut juice with coconut meat is healthy and thirst-quenching; the blended Vietnamese coffee gives me the perfect boost of caffeine on summer afternoons. They make all of their ingredients in-house, instead of powdery/premixed drinks like other tea shops. I can really taste the difference in quality! Their mochi waffles are AMAZING! Crispy on the outside, warm and chewy as you bite into it. I love both the pandan and coconut flavors! The staff is friendly, the facility is open and pleasant for hanging out with friends or work on your computer. Can't wait to try other drinks here! Oh and free wifi! read more

I got the iced vietnamese coffee. It is good, but they do not offer ice adjustments. My drink lasted 10 sips and had more than 3/4 of the cup filled with ice. Not worth $4. read more

Bubble tea move aside - Bambu is my favorite healthy-ish desert drink place. I like the San Mateo location more than the other Bambu stores on the Peninsula because this store cuts its jelly strips thin enough that they can actually fit through the straw. What an innovation! Prompt Service. I have come at all hours of the day and never waited more than 5 minutes from stepping into the store to getting my drink. My only complaint: I wish they published nutrition data. "Coconut milk" tastes delicious but I have no idea what's in it. read more

My go-to spot on a hot day. Drinks are always refreshing and delicious. My favorite is the Fruit Addict, a good combination of liquid and chewables. However the price is about 20-25% more than the location at South SF near Westborough Plaza. My large drink (+$2) price there would only get me a small here. read more

Very expensive to me!!!! I like this store. I guess because it is new, bright, and clean (not too many customers yet). #3&10 are great drinks to order. However, I have to rate their Michu waffle 1 star. Today, June 8, I visited the store again. My sister and I planned to sit in and drink our drinks but found out their seats were sticky with sweetness. Maybe regular clean up of customer seating will help. read more

Horrible experience I waited twenty mins for my drink and is not even that busy ..there is two people and it takes them so long to make one drink and orders for the numbers after me still went first .and when I almost recieve my drink , they tell me where out of pandan jelly, so why couldn't they tell me this ahead of time? So I didn't have to even get a drink.. read more

The soup in my Pho Ga had as much flavor as you'd expect from a clear broth. It had a hint of garlic & onion, I added an obscene amount of lime & sriracha to enhance the taste. A solid bowl with white chicken breast & slightly al dente noodles but the pho restaurants I frequent have more complexity to its broth. La Petite Camille is a small, bustling spot with staff who get parties in & out. Their regulars will be pleased to know I won't be taking up one of their tables in the future.

Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!

I called over an older lady who I think was the owner and she seemed to have a "what now" look. Anyway, she asked if I'd like them to remake it and I said yes. Our newly made dish was fine and we didn't find any wrong with it. When we were at the counter to pay the bill, the older lady was visibly annoyed. I'm not sure if it's because she didn't like that I pointed out the plastic in the noodles or thats maybe just how she is. After this experience, we will no longer return.

In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends. Yesterday afternoon, I experienced something new, an extraordinary drink from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Bambu's famous motto: Anyone can cook. But I realize, only now do I truly understand what they meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now working at Bambu, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest barista in Millbrae. My family and friends have been regular customers since they opened, pre COVID years. We like their drinks and snacks. However, some things may be improved: Their prices are 50cents to a $1+ more expensive than other Bambu stores, especially anything that has avocado. Their prices are erratic - they go up and down, but mostly and often enough, They go up. Their Halo halo drink used to be one of the cheapest at $6.50 but now at $8, it's one of the most expensive. I don't think my family will patronize this Bambu store anymore. Fortunately there's a lot of similar boba places at a more reasonable prices in the Millbrae area. read more

I was quite impressed by their wide variety of drinks and desserts. Sometimes new desserts get created for the sake of being different, but Bambu does it with a sense of purpose and does it well. Staff is pretty awesome too. I hope they keep it up. read more
