Such a cute boba spot in downtown Burlingame! We were walking around with family when my sister recommended we stop by. They have a great variety of drinks and food options. We ordered a mix of our usual favorites along with a few new drinks we'd never tried before, and everything was really good. The popcorn chicken was also a standout, it reminded me of the popcorn chicken from Quickly. If you've had Quickly's before, you know exactly what I mean. The shop itself is pretty small and doesn't have indoor seating, but it's right next to an area with plenty of outdoor tables and chairs. It's a great spot to grab drinks and snacks, then hang out with family or friends, especially if you have kids. read more

Decided to try this new spot and was disappointed pretty quickly. Maybe my expectations were off, but is it a new trend for nobody to interact with you? Is it cool to be this cold and unwelcoming, especially right when you've just opened? We ordered two drinks. Since I wasn't sure how sweet they'd be, we played it safe and asked for 50% sugar -- and even that was loaded with sugar. Neither my 3-year-old nor I could finish it; it was way too sweet and tasted artificial. On top of the cold service, we waited an unusually long time even though the place was nearly empty. It's a sad that this business just opened, and it doesn't feel like the staff are trying very hard. read more

Ume Tea is a small boba/dessert shop in downtown Millbrae. I ordered the Lychee Watermelon tea with boba, and my friend ordered the Mandarin tea with lychee jelly. Unfortunately, both of our drinks had little to no flavor. I still enjoyed my drink because it had crushed lychee fruit, but the boba had no flavor. It seems that they forgot to add sugar when cooking the boba. My friend's mandarin drink barely tasted like anything, the only thing that helped was the lychee jelly. The shop itself had a peculiar smell of fried chicken, but not in a good way. It gave me a headache, and I can only imagine how cramped and tired the employees were; there were five employees working in a square footage area of maybe 10 feet. I really want to return to try their desserts, but I'm afraid they will be flavorless like the boba drinks. read more

Was excited about the coconut drink so ordered a couple of different ones to try as this was our first visit. Almost forgot to take a pic. The taste was good but lots of clumps for the clear boba. Mine was just one large lump in the middle of the drink. Generous with watermelon and refreshing. The oat boba was not popular with us. The kids ended up picking them out as they claimed they were slimey! read more

I'm not sure what's going on but the last 2 times I've visited (once in May and once just today), I have waited over 30 minutes for my drinks! I've ordered in person because I have a gift card and what's funny is that there's no one there when I order and suddenly the line becomes long after I order. There's only 2 ladies working and they look like they are taking their sweet time making the drinks or forgetting to place the ready drinks on the counter for pickup. Both times I've had to refill my parking meter several times because it wasn't just a 15minute visit! It took over 45minutes from ordering to leaving?! That is absolutely ridiculous. I would've given 1 star but I think they need a better system of turning over the drinks and the hot foods. I think they also get swamped with doordash/UberEats orders. And they should let people know the wait would be over 20minutes for their order if they are ordering in store. Super disappointed in this type of service! Almost cost me a $50 parking ticket! read more

For those that have an Ume Tea rewards membership, Ume Tea had some pretty good promotions this past week. I'm happy that it happened during my birthday week. A new drink is out - Strawberry Cloud Matcha Coco 4/22 Buy 1 Get 1 Free 4/23 Buy any drink + post on IG Story or Red -- Get 1 free strawberry cloud matcha coco My boyfriend and I are a fan of the regular Strawberry Matcha Latte with Ice Cream, so when we tried this new drink it was way better! The coco jelly add a nice texture and gives a good hint of coconut. 30% sweet was just enough sweet, I ordered 50% sweet for my boyfriend and he was impressed with how delicious the drink was. I would say at this location, drinks do take some time but I can imagine they must get a lot of orders. It was worth the wait though! And the employees were kind when I had asked about the promo. read more

Really yummy drink! It had a good balance of lychee, watermelon, and tea. I was super thirsty and looking for something refreshing. This place caught my eye as I was actually walking to another boba place and I changed my mind to come here. Only thing that I didn't like was the wait time. They only have 2 people working. Even though there were only 3 people standing there and waiting, I realized a lot of people ordered online and did large orders. I'd recommend ordering online way in advance. It would be nice if they had a screen showing when your order was ready or what they're working on. There's not much room to stand on the street and the shop is very very small. read more

Was visiting family in SF and wanted to get boba. I have not tried this place so I got the Matcha flavored drink. The matcha flavor was good. The boba was chewy. The self service tablet was easy to navigate and order. Inside the shop is small, so we waited outside. There is no indoor seating. More of a grab and go especially with the outdoor shops in the area. read more

Ume has a great variety of drinks but my favorite is the Coco Mango! I love that it's caffeine-free, so I don't have to worry about losing sleep and I love the pomelo inside. I recommend getting 70% sweetness or less since it can be quite sweet. Also FYI, the Burlingame location is usually less crowded than the Millbrae one, so drinks come out faster and both locations also do online order so I recommend doing that if you want to save time. The only downside is that parking isn't free before 6 PM. read more

Drinks themselves are decent but it took quite some time to make two drinks when we were the only ones there. Seemed like they were more focused on pushing out the online orders, or maybe just going in order? Not sure. Basically, just be prepared to wait. We ordered at the kiosk. You get 15% off first time purchase, but a $0.35 service fee. Odd, but whatever. Also, no one talks to you. They just write your name on a bag with your order packaged inside and leave it on a table for you to grab. The coco mango jasmine bloom was reminiscent of heytea (even the name!). It's normally $6.25 for a medium, but discount brought it down to $5.31. I requested 30% sweetness and thought that was adequate. I can't imagine what 100% would taste like. read more

Super tiny grab and go spot that I love in Burlingame. Many options to choose from their menu but their popcorn chicken is elite.

Based on recent previous reviews, I would have to say that their service has not improved. The wait time is so long. I ordered two drinks and there were two orders ahead of me , it took 20 minutes to get our drinks, I even have the timestamps to prove it. If I didn't already pay, I would have been long gone and not waited. Staff is still not friendly. No greetings or pleasantries, not a basic , hello. I felt like I wasted so much time there. While the drinks are pretty good, it is absolutely not worth wasting your time waiting around. I would suggest ordering ahead on your phone and don't expect it to be ready for at least 20 minutes. read more

Ume Tea is hands-down my go-to Boba spot whenever I'm craving something fruity -- and by fruity, I mean actual fresh fruit, not just flavoring! One of my absolute favorites is their Watermelon drink -- it's refreshing, light, and hits the spot every single time. I always add crystal boba for that perfect chewy texture (highly recommend!). Another go-to is the Mango Coco, which is tropical perfection in a cup. Now, if anyone from Ume Tea happens to be reading this... I'm going to be a little selfish and say -- please bring back the Avocado Shake with mixed oats! It was one of my all-time favorite drinks (and toppings!), and honestly, I still miss it. Whether you're into classic milk teas or something fresh and fruity, Ume Tea always delivers -- great quality, great flavor, and super friendly staff. It's my little happy place in a cup every time. They also have so many cute brand items in their shop and I love all the pink and bunny vibes. read more

I am a fan of the offerings on Ume's menu and have visited many of their other Bay Area locations. I decided to try their Matcha Melon Coco since Ume's IG post made it look really good, especially since the flavor combination of matcha, watermelon, and coconut is not something you usually find at the various boba shops and franchises. I ordered ahead on their website since I knew the business had minimal space inside and there is usually a line going out the door to order, mind you only 2-3 people will be long enough for the line to reach the door lol. I always have the issue of having incorrect promised times when ordering online; the site often quotes a couple minute wait after the order is placed though I usually end up waiting 5-10 minutes at the minimum depending on how busy the business is at that time. When I got my drink, my first thought was that it did not look close to the drink I saw on IG. The posts portray the drink as a clear red, white, and green drink however mine looked almost completely white with the matcha provided in a separate mini bottle to pour over myself. Although interesting, I didn't quite understand why the matcha wasn't automatically poured on the top of my drink. Also, the IG posts showed the bottle full of matcha but my bottle was only filled halfway. When I finally poured the matcha into my drink and tried it, I noticed the drink was mostly ice and almost tasteless. I'm not sure if my drink was made poorly but it barely had any watermelon chunks either. I asked the barista if increasing the % sweetness would correlate with more watermelon, since this is common practice for fruit matcha lattes at other boba shops, but he said it does not. I have had significantly more issues at this Ume location vs other locations such as Millbrae, one of them being consistency. I think I'll just go to the Millbrae location instead of Burlingame to help ensure my drink is made the same way every time. read more

Wanted to grab a drink before work and I haven't tried this place yet so here I am. I ordered the pistachio Jasmine delight with 30% sugar and less ice. The drink was okay however, my problem with this place lies more with the service speed... They take a really really long time. It took them 20 minutes to get my drink out and there was no one else waiting before me... Anyways... Try it out if you like. :( read more

Super fun joint with combinations of flavors I have not really seen. Never thought to mix green tea and strawberries together. Solid combination. I also appreciate it that they gave you a thermo shielded bag to carry take out in. Not really a place where you can sit down but still have plenty of cool things to look at while you wait. Will definitely make a point to stop by this place again if I'm ever in the area. read more

Located in downtown Burlingame, it's a small storefront without any seating. You order via the kiosk and your order is called when ready. There are some seasonal drinks that are interesting - I got the Matcha Melon Coco as well as the plum flavored chicken strips. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised by the chicken. It wasn't overfried and the plum flavor paired nicely with the savory chicken. Great place to stop for a quick drink and snack if you're walking around the park nearby! read more

Cute little shop in Burlingame. No seating. Ordered watermelon and lychee green tea with boba at 70% sweet. The boba was a bit soft but not bad. My family and I were driving home when I mentioned how much I've always liked the popcorn chicken from Ume Tea. At first I didn't plan to stop because it was already around 7:50 PM, but my family got excited and suggested we change our destination. So we drove all the way from Foster City hoping to grab some popcorn chicken. When I tried to order at 8:10 PM (I even checked the time), I was told there was no more chicken available, but no explanation was given. If fried items stop being served about 20 minutes before closing or if the fryer is shut down early, it would be helpful to let customers know. I've been to other locations before and never had this issue, so this experience was quite disappointing. Hopefully it was just an off night. read more

Finally tried an Ume Tea location. I liked the Passion Fruit Green Tea w/ Boba & Lychee Jelly ($6.25). I think I got it 0% sweet bc of the lychee jelly and that was definitely the right amount. Lime slices were a nice touch. They have outdoor tables and Wi-Fi, but zero indoor seating; it's basically just enough room to order then wait outside to be called. More of a to go spot in colder weather. Friendly service, but not too many customization options. read more

Today was my first time trying Ume tea. I ordered the Brown Sugar Boba Premium Oolong Milk Tea at 70% sweetness. The boba was sweet and chewy, just the way I like it. Drink is a little on the sweet side, next time I might lower sweetness to 50%. I ordered ahead. I got there 2-3 min after ordering. It wasn't busy so they made it so fast that I didn't even think the drink waiting on the table was mine! Unfortunately, I bumped my drink off the table and the cup broke open and I lost 80% of my drink so don't make my mistake haha read more

An authentic boba shop with high quality boba that delivers when it comes to milk and fruit teas due to their unique brewing techniques! You might be familiar with Ume from their now famous location in Cupertino or perhaps the one in San Francisco. This new location is even more on brand and over the top pink and nicely decorated. The staff is super friendly. If you are in the mood for some classic boba, theirs is nice, chewy, and close to perfect (not too soft nor too hard). I really enjoy their fruit teas though, especially when you need something refreshing. I enjoyed the Pineapple Pomelo Sago here and it was absolutely delightful. It was flavorful yet light, satisfying without being overly sugary, and it definitely hits all the right notes. The passion fruit green tea was also a hit with me. If you feel like adding the cheese foam to your drink, the peach green tea with cheese top maintained that refreshing taste while adding the complexity to the flavor profile with the perfect layer of cheese foam on top that's ever so popular nowadays. Lastly, if you want something more substantial, the black milk tea with pearl and taro is made for you - the taro is high quality and the flavor is there without being overwhelming, the pearls are nice and chewy, and the black milk tea is potent and filling. Overall, Ume delivers on the promise of quality bubble tea! read more
