12/26/19: Bambu is one of my favorite boba places to go to because of their fresh ingredients and variety of drinks. I was so excited to get bubble tea the day after Christmas, however they were closed. I understand that it is the holidays, however I noticed that this location of often closed from time to time which is sad when you are craving one of their drinks. read more

**BEWARE** Like the other reviewer said they charge a fee for using credit/debit card disguised under "customer service fee". The cashier never mentioned to me about this; if I was told beforehand, I would've used cash... I had to ask the cashier what this fee was AFTER I paid and saw it on my receipt. I don't think it occurred to them to at least let customers know beforehand, whether it be with a sign or by word-of-mouth. Other boba places do this, so why hasn't this Bambu done so as well? The lychee milk tea was okay. Lacked of lychee flavor but has a strong tea flavor. I tend to like my milk tea with a bit more tea flavor, so that was a plus. Great alternative to boba milk tea! As much as I love boba, it's always nice to change it up every now and then. The che drinks here are always refreshing and the quality stays consistent. I always opt to get the #10, Bambu Favorite. I think next time I'll ask to replace the red tapioca with more pandan jelly though. The red tapioca has this weird crunch to it that doesn't sit too well with me. But the pandan jelly is super delicious! It's very chewy and very fun to eat. It reminds me of a gummy worm since it's long and noodle-like. Parking isn't too plentiful, but shouldn't be too excessively hard unless you come at peak hours. The location is actually pretty big and they have a few games you could play to pass the time. Drinks are around $5-$6, which is a little pricey, but worth splurging for every now and then. read more

Bambu, you are more than a dessert place to me! On one of the hottest days this summer, I took the BART to Millbrae and started walking toward the Main Street. Like a beautiful mirage, you appeared right at the corner of El Camino Real and was just the cool Haven in the midst of a scorching land. The minute I entered thro go the doors, the AC hit me and I felt refreshed. I was literally melting at that point. I actually sat next to the additional Fan that they had in the back to circulate the air. So, it's a little melodramatic, but you get the idea. This sweet dessert spot is also lovely stopping place for many students who come after school. There is a long table for groups, some smaller tables for those working and seating along the window facing the street. The decor is modern and clean and well lit. So disappointed. We were waiting for a table at Ben Tre and I decided to give this location a try. I typically frequent the SSF location, which I honestly feel is much better. Here's why: 1. Price: Bambu Favourite #10 is $5.25 at this location, versus $4.50 in SSF and $4.75 in San Mateo. Extra pandan jelly will set you back an additional $0.25 whereas the SSF location offers it for free. 2. Ambiance: Nice decor, but the place was empty with no one present at the cash register. The SSF one is typically busy, despite it being no-frills in appearance. 3. Drink: The 'shaved' ice on my drink was rock hard and didn't break apart easily. The drink was not sweet at all (I don't think typically like sugary drinks to start) and I felt they skimped on the toppings. At first glance, I already knew that this was not up to par with the SSF drinks. Overall, I'm disappointed that I wasted my money here. I've only had a third of my drink and I want to toss it out. I was in Millbrae and was craving some milk tea so I decided to stop into Bambu. I ordered 2 large Taro milk teas with boba. They tasted really bad! There was a powdery substance that wasn't mixed all the way. It didn't even taste like Taro milk tea, not even close. Every time I took a sip I tasted powder and liquid. Yuck! Also, they are extremely over priced! I paid $14 for 2 drinks just for them to be really nasty. Last thing, the store was empty and there was at least 5 people in the back and it still took them SO LONG to make my drinks!! Their website looks good, but looks can be deceiving. Favorite boba place in Millbrae by far. Never a huge line, always quick service, and fresh tea/desserts. Normally I order drinks with boba, it's a free add on! Their fresh fruit teas are pretty good with small bits of fresh fruit in them as well as basil seeds and rainbow jelly. I have also had their desserts such as the grass jelly and basil seed or their famous #6 ché which are better tasting than other Bambu locations. I'm not sure why since they are the same recipes/ingredients but i'd say they're doing something right here. They also customize orders to your liking , substitutes where possible. Boba is also sweet and chewy unlike some other shops where they skimp on the chewiness/sweetness. They also have mochi waffles! Which are a bit pricey in my opinion, but worth it if you have a craving for them or have never tried them before! Unfortunately, not all bambus are alike and I find this spot takes pride in providing quality made ingredients. I've tried other Bambus and the quality sometimes is not the same. I meant to write this review earlier but have not had the chance to and honestly I forgot until I was going through my photos. I visited this Bambu on March 20, 2021 and ordered a #6 and an avocado shake. As I was halfway done with my #6, I got a piece of jackfruit and saw something black on it. There was a piece of hair on my jackfruit!!!! I had already ate half of my #6 so to find this in my cup was extremely disgusting and disappointing. I stopped eating it and threw the rest of it away. And I waited like 15 minutes for these drinks... I don't understand why their staff in the kitchen don't wear hair nets (I saw the cashier with her long ponytail walking to the drink making station and back outside). I also saw the girls who were making the drinks had their hair in ponytails too (no hair net).
