Disappointing meal @ Bamboo on a Fri night. It started off being seated promptly upon arrival @ 6 pm; things went downhill pretty quickly. Although they weren't busy, it took over 20 minutes for someone (not our server) to take our order. Sweet potato tempura was so-so, miso soup was warm, not hot. By this point, my wife returned her diet coke for weird taste, so when it took another 15 minutes to get our food, we were getting more and more annoyed. Wife's tropical shrimp was mostly green peppers with a few shrimp & chunks of pineapple, son's general gao's chicken was more like sweet & sour, w/no sour, and no spice at all. My spicy tuna roll was good; unagi had odd texture & worst flavor I've ever had; uni had small broken pieces of sea urchin roe but decent flavor; hamachi was odd with a dried texture & little flavor; tako nothing great. My colleagues and I eat here at least twice a week since it's walking distance from our office. The food is always good, fresh. The service is great as well. I typically get the sushi but my friends always go with the lunch buffet. Nice after work crowd to get a drink. Highly recommended. read more

I've been to Bamboo in Westford several times and the food is not bad at all, the place also has a very nice decor with plenty of seating area. I tried sushi and it was good, chicken in garlic sauce is another favorite of mine while the appetizers are pretty good as well, try the platter or at least the beef skewers. Only reason for a 3 star review is the attitude of older lady and the older gentleman at the reception, which is also mentioned by some one else in the reviews. Even if you say hello to them, they respond as they are angry. since I've been to the restaurant several times so I was served by different servers, most of them were good but there was especially one girl who came to take order initially and never showed up again, either she was finishing her shift or she was assigned a different table but the place wasn't busy at all that time. After 15-20 of wait, we requested a passing by server to check on our order and the food was served after another 15-20 minutes. We were not happy with the service but the food was good as usual. This restaurant is the best Chinese American restaurant in the Merrimack/Nashoba valley area in 2014 from my pov. The setting of the restaurant is the epitomy of 2010's wifi digital era with cascading water falls and shiny neon lights everywhere. The buffet is superb ! Large varieties of Rice Rolls, and a buffet with full of vegetarian options, with entrees that are not too salty, or oily. I went here with my family and yeah the kitchen was about to be closed in an hour so we weren't expecting much. We had fried rice which was tasty but the portions are small. The crab Rangoon was nice too but I had better at a take out place. The ambiance was nice and they even had a high seat for my nephew. It was kind of expensive for the small portions so I would suggest going to the buffet instead to get your money's worth. read more

For me this restaurant is the like the tale of two cities; it is the best of restaurants and the worst of restaurants. On the plus side the food is really very good and we order takeout a couple times a month. On the very, very negative side their service ... well it sucks and has for years! If you are unlucky enough to eat in the restaurant it's hard not to be struck by the total indifference of the management and the inattentive wait staff. Examples include waiting for more than 30 minutes for lunch and never seeing the wait staff; waiting 20 minutes after finishing dinner and having to search for someone to get the check; ordering buffet and never seeing a waiter again until you were able to flag someone down to get them. To be fair, it is not always like this but it happens often enough to make it impossible to actually eat in the restaurant. So if you like Bamboo's food and actually want service with your meal I would highly recommend that you visit their Bedford location. The service in Bedford is so good that it's hard to believe they are part of the same company! read more

If I go to the sushi bar, every time is amazing. Though the table service is slow and unmotivated. I went to the bamboo with two friends and it was just us and a party of 15, our waiter ignored us for over an hour before we all decided to leave. Very rude. read more

After eating at Bamboo for over a decade, and over time trying most of the menu, we have found that the quality of the food and service have sadly plummeted during recent visits. Last night's order-out meal will be our last after a string of mediocre dinners there. The once delicious but now uninteresting avocado-crab salad was half the size it used to be, the spicy tuna and salmon maki had very little fish and poor seasoning, and even the avocado and cucumber maki were poorly executed and small. Overall, a poor meal at a high price. Add to this the sting of poor service, with preparation taking almost 40 minutes accompanied by their patronizing attitude at the pick-up counter, and our decision never to return became an easy one. In spite of our global disappointment, the one bright spot remains David at the bar, who is a consummate professional and true friend. David, we wish you all the best. read more

I frequent Bamboo and I'm never disappointed. The buffet is fresh and plentiful any day, any time. Lemon chicken is outstanding. Chicken rice soup with crispy rice chunks is amazing. I've been here twice and it's an ok restaurant for three reasons: the food is mediocre at best and not very flavorful. Compared to other restaurants in the area you can definitely get better food for the price. Which is the second reason, it is over priced. Lastly, their service is bad. Just went to have lunch buffet. At check-in the front desk waitress was a poker face. Seems like I owe her money. I thought maybe today is not her day and just ignored her. However, During the lunch, I found we were the only Asian customers and the least served table, even without asking if we need more water. Had dinner tonight here. Bartender service excellent. Food adequate at best. Chicken must have been cooked in a Wok that wasn't cleaned as it tasted like fish. When I asked manager why couldn't get a spring roll as an individual order - he went crazy said he didn't meed my business and not to come back. He is correct with that. One of the better chinese restaurants in this area; though I prefer Chang An in Concord. Food is very good but the service is a bit indifferent. The appetisers are great. My favorite dish is Kung Poa Chicken or Sesame Beef. Not a fan, but I'm told their Sushi is the best around. The lunch buffet is great value. read more

Called to order on Christmas Eve, get to the point where my 3 family members have allergies and they won't remove an ingredient because there's no edits to orders on holidays.....are you serious?!? They couldn't take scallions out of fried rice??? After almost ordering over $200 of food they can't comply with allergy orders...can't believe how rude the lady was and how ridiculous that is, I could understand modifications but not being able to remove for an allergy is unseemly.... read more

I recently ate here while catching up with a former coworker. We ate at the buffet, and I was pleasantly surprised. The choices included the usual chinese buffet foods with some additional options that allowed me to experiment a bit. I found the food to be quite tasty, and unlike other chinese restaurants I've eaten at it was not too heavy. I could enjoy the flavor of each dish, and I left feeling full but not bloated. I'll probably branch out and try takeout the next time I eat here, but the first try definitely made me want to come back. read more

Recently went back to this restaurant for a buffet and for takeout. The interior of the restaurant is clean and very pleasant and modern. The lunchtime buffet on a Saturday was $13.95/person. The selection was decent - dim sum options included pork dumplings, pork potstickers, shrimp dumplings. They also have your standard Chinese/pan-Asian fare, as well as sushi. Soup option was miso soup or hot and sour. Service was very friendly and courteous. The only minor complaint was that their ice cream was not refilled, though there were option dessert options. For takeout recently, we tried a variety of dishes including their Shanghai pan fried noodles (the crispy noodles are packaged separately from the meat sauce topping, and you pour the sauce over it), and their house fried rice. Thought both dishes were a little on the small side though both tasted good. Also tried their Beijing Duck - it was okay, though I've had better. At $37.50 for a whole duck, I will skip next time, but it was worth trying once. read more

This place is a good place to go for Chinese and Sushi. The food is all good. The is a little better than good. Negatives are that it takes too long for service sometimes. Also there is no draft beer. Only bottled. Even though the wait is not usually bad even on Friday nights, the staff needs to be more helpful to those that are waiting. The back bar should be serviced but it is not. The fortune cookies are chocolate. Taste terrible and have fortunes that are just disappointing. Also I have to ask for chop sticks every time I go there. Really? I should have to ask for a fork. Not sure what the butter knife would ever be used for here, but they have one for each setting on the table. If I could give this restaurant 6 stars i would. Although i haven't been to the restaurant before, I dealt with them on the phone. I had a special request. My boss mom passed away couple of days ago and I wanted wanted to do something nice for them and bring him and his family meals to relieve the stress for them. They don't deliver but since I am out of state, they were able to accommodate and deliver the meals to the family. Ordered Sushi from the special menu..one roll costing $17. Worse than super market sushi. I had to throw away the last 2 pieces. Although the sashimi was fresh, I am very disappointed in the total lack of care in presentation. They served it ion a white plate that you would find at the buffet. Sushi is an art form that requires an eye on the aesthetic as much as the food itself. I used to get sashimi served on a beautiful glass rectangular plate with a colored light cube. What happened? In addition, the management is very cold here. I walked in and said hello, and one of the managers looked away. One of the owners saw me and ignored me when I tried to say hello. It was a slow Saturday afternoon with few customers. Interesting thought how the managers pay attention to couples and men. I've been coming here for over a decade and feel that as a single woman that I'm not a valued customer. This is a good place to go with friends when ordering greasy appetizers and maintains but nothing special. I have had at least two birthdays here. The sushi is top-notch, with a very impressive menu. Sushi boats are known to ply these waters. The takeout is phenomenal, but if you get the idaho maki or anything tempura, the usual caveats apply (tempura + plastic takeout container = soggy).
