I haven't reviewed this place in a while, and we don't come here as often as we had. Now I remember why. We got here last night at 7, and it was fairly empty. The buffet ends at 8. When we looked at the buffet, I noticed that the appetizers were almost depleted, and what was there was dried out. (I like the apps and the lobster dish the most when we come here.) The 5 chicken wings were almost inedible, the crab rangoons (the two that were left) were soggy, the spring rolls were soggy, and the two remaining boneless spare ribs were pathetic looking. Many of the other chafing dishes were close to empty. Even the noodles were dry. They didn't even have whipped cream for the ice cream. We decided to stay, figuring they'd replenish. After all, it was only 7 pm, with an hr to go on the buffet. We were wrong, save for about 5 more pieces of lobster, which we requested directly. The balance of the lobster dish was dry and almost inedible. It was difficult to pry the dry lobster out of the shell. (The oysters were good, and my husband had his share and got his money's worth on that item.) Several of the waiters were standing around and talking, but no one did anything to check on the status of the dishes. In all the years we have come here, this was the worst meal we have had. We did speak to the substitute manager and got 20 percent off our bill, but at least one "meal" should have been comped, in my opinion. I expect more for a $22/person tab. The manager asked if we wanted the staff to make more things for us, but at 8 pm, and after our ice cream, it was too late. Will we return? Not any time soon, but when we do, it will be when the buffet actually starts: At least the items will be fresh and hopefully plentiful. read more

You know those Chinese buffets that you need to take off three days of work after eating there because you're so sick? This is the glorious opposite of that. The food is always fresh and delicious and you don't feel afraid to eat the sushi from the buffet either. Also coming here for just sushi is a smart choice too. My family would go to this restaurant at least twice a month - primarily for takeout, but occasionally to dine in as well. About a week ago, I ordered take out and we were already in the neighborhood, so we decided to go in to wait for it to be ready. I had my 3 year old and my 6 year old with me. This is not the first time we have arrived early for takeout. There is a nice bar area off to the side of the restaurant that we have sat at on occasion. My kids love to sit at the high stools; however, the bartender said "no kids at the bar", so we moved to a side table. My kids are kids, so I did have to keep reminding them to use their indoor voices. We waited for 30 minutes. Some people were coming into a side room for a private event. One of the waiters/managers/someone who worked there asked us to keep it down. Then he asked us why we were there. Then he got us our order that we had been waiting for. I guess I felt pretty offended over the entire exchange, so we won't be back. I am writing this review because the claim in the information section of yelp for this restaurant is a "yes" to "family friendly". I wanted other reviewers to know that it has felt family friendly in the past. However, on this occasion it definitely did not feel family friendly to me. read more

No food at the buffet at 1:30 on a Saturday. Rude service. Food they did have was awful. Fried rice with fruit in it and chicken with mayonnaise. Spring rolls no veggie. $20 paper person! I dine with my family at Bamboo at the Bedford and Westford location. We enjoy the atmosphere and customer service has improved since we started dinning at this chain in 08. They have nice selection of sushi and their desserts are wonderful. My favorite dessert is green tea ice cream. I love their tiramisu. I believe the food quality at Bamboo is a little better than Feng Shui in my opinion, although the latter is a bit cheaper, they are both more than adequate for the hungry corporate employee. If you decide to sample their lunch buffets, arrive early because Bamboo quickly fills. I love their beef and broccoli, crispy beef with sesame, and Kung Pao Shrimp with peanuts. read more

We came here after a recommendation to try. Ordered general gau's chicken. We got take out. It was terrible. I'm not sure what they did to the chicken but is was chewy stringy. Sad thing it was takeout so we couldn't complain to them. We also ordered house lo mein which barely had any meat or fish, and the size of the dishes are 2/3 what we get at yangtzee. Me and my colleagues go there often for lunch buffet. The food is good , but BEWARE OF UR BELONGINGS . I left my phone on the table when I went to pick food from the buffet.. It DISAPPEARED !!! The management was very rude and was just not ready to help .. The first time they denied to even ask around !! Using find my iPhone, I mapped it to their location and went back the second time !! After a lotta hassle and panic, manager comes out with my phone and says "they had put it on charge since it shut down" !!! I gave call back number when I went the first time, they never called me when they "found the phone" !!! I will never go back again !!! read more

My friend and I went to Bamboo on October 2, 2014 for lunch. Our experience was anything BUT positive. To begin with: 1) the buffet was stated to include sushi. Historically there were 8-10 different types of sushi. This time there was one - and what was left after the restaurant was open for all of 30 minutes (we arrived at 11:30 AM - it opens at 11:30 AM) was practically zero. The offerings on the buffet itself included practically zero beef dishes - and the pot stickers were overcooked. 2) the waitress brought us tea - my friend got a pot and I got a pot. The last time I was there, a pot of tea was plenty to service up to 4. Now they charge for the tea - and charge separately for each person who is served it. 3) the soup that was part of the luncheon buffet was served in significantly SMALLER BOWLS than at anytime in the past. 4) the biggest surprise of all was when we received the bill. $36.00 for two luncheons. that's $18.00 per person including tax. The last time we were there, we paid $12.00. that's a 50% INCREASE IN PRICING. They are taking advantage of the public. 5) the restaurant was certainly less busy than it had been in the past. I'm only assuming that is the byproduct of the deterioration in their product, the service and the pricing escalation way out of line with the cost of food. I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant to anyone who wants a good Asian meal without being overcharged and whose food product was not equal to what was offered even a year ago. Bamboo is definitely amongst the higher end of Asian cuisine and there really isn't anything like this in the area. They have a great array of Chinese and Japanese dishes and incredibly fresh tasty sushi. Every time I crave sushi, this is my go to place- and this includes the Boston area. People may complain that the prices are higher than the "average Chinese restaurant" but the food quality is exceptionally better and you really get what you pay for here. read more

This place and the events here are AMAZING! I have been to Bamboo in Westford for dinner and for events too many times to count. The food and service are ALWAYS outstanding. Earlier this year (and last year too) I attended a wine and food tasting event. The food was extremely unique and, from appetizer to dessert, each dish went extremely well with the wine it was paired with. I just noticed that Jeff, the owner, posted an upcoming wine dinner! CHECK THIS OUT: First, a sparkling Rose "Welcome Wine". Next, 3 course tastings including Shrimp Scampi, Beef Dumplings and Salmon Teriyaki. After that, Surf & Turf Roll (stuffed with Lobster, Crab, Filet Mignon & Avocado!). Finally, Coconut Peanut Mochi with sparkling Sake. This is a paired wine dinner you usually need to go to Boston to find! The dinner is at 7:00 PM on December 9th. I've been on the hunt for the best sushi in this area, and Bamboo is the winner so far. We had a large take out order for 4 people and were pleasantly surprised to find a few "freebies" included! The decor is great and the service is excellent. It's a bit longer of a drive for me, but it's soooo worth it! My only comment is that I wish it wasn't so spendy. I am a faithful Bambooee. I eat here once a week. I am going to try to put my feelings of this place into word. OK lets start: The sushi is outstanding. I have eaten sushi all over the world and there is nothing like their sushi.Better than Any NOBU I have been to They use the freshest daily picked fish around. The flavors are a culinary explosion in your mouth each time. As far as the normal Chinese and Japanese food goes, the food is above average. Well put together and moderately priced. The mai tais are a must. Johnny the bartender consistently make then to perfection. I am very close with the owners and management but they treat everyone equally as great. read more

Bamboo has been our go-to place for Chinese since it opened. The last few visits have been a huge disappointment both in terms of service and food quality. Our favorite dishes were lacking any distinct flavors, the vegetables weren't fresh, etc. I hope they can get it together and bring back the quality of years past. We came in for the buffet today, and I am disgusted to say that not only was the buffet a disappointment, the cake at the desert bar was MOLDY! Oh my GOD, I bit into it not realizing it had green fuzzy mold on the other side, I wish now that I had taken a photo, my husband had suggested it after the Manager had taken it away. I ate half of it, and said to my husband that it tasted moldy, then we looked at it, I could not believe what I was seeing, we get take away from there on a regular basis, well, we sure are not any more.. My daughter who is 10 and has special needs said hers was green as well, but she thought it was normal, she ate the whole thing, poor kid! I had the Manager come over, he looked at it, and said it came from Canada, that was why! Canada, really? That's the reason why? I was lost for words at that point, then he brought the bill over with a 20% discount. I then followed him up to the register, talked to him some more, explained that we are regular customers, have take away on a regular basis, and now are concerned about the other food we have eaten. He then said it was the way the food is rotated on a weekly basis, first in, first out etc. I worked at Starbucks for 5 years, I know all about rotating food and first in first out, and we never had moldy food, what a crock of s**t. Then when I told him I was very unhappy, he walked away and said, geez, started huffing and puffing and talking to a staff member in Chinese I assume... We will NOT be returning and I will be speaking to the Board of Health. That was inexcusable, and the unprofessional way he made me feel like I was bothering him was totally un necessary. read more

This is a place that's unclear on the concept of labeling foods and dealing with food allergies. Despite explaining to the server that we are vegan (and spelling that out for him), he brought the tofu and spinach soup which clearly contained egg. We've had this soup in many restaurants. It's an all-vegetable soup, never made with egg. The version at Bamboo also was significantly thickened with cornstarch, something that we've never seen before for this soup. We caught the eye of another server who immediately took the soup away and a while later brought the replacement, made without egg (but still loaded with cornstarch). She took over serving us for the rest of the meal, and appeared to have more clue. The main course dish we ordered was simply stir-fried bok choy with brown rice on the side. It took quite a while for it to come. It was good, but not exceptional. A quick look at the buffet when we first arrived confirmed that is not an option for vegetarians or vegans. We'd heard good things about this place, but honestly there are better places to get a nutritious, vegetarian meal. read more

I was pleasant surprised by the lunch buffet. $11.99 gets you access to delicious sushi, dim sum, tempura, desserts, a large variety of Chinese food such as mushrooms with beef, shrimp and broccoli, fried rice, chow mein, choice of soup, and Chinese appetizers. Yum! Of course, there are also the American Chinese staples such as orange chicken and the fried wontons filled with cream cheese and imitation crab. I tried this restaurant because it is the only place walking distance from my hotel. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered two "summer rolls", a chicken dish and the hot and sour soup. I could not eat any of them. The food did not feel fresh and the shrimp in the summer rolls was rubbery. The hot and sour soup tasted different than any I've ever had. It also had an odd color. I'm giving the Sunday dinner buffet at Bamboo four stars. A lot of people feel like a Chinese buffet is the epitome of Chinese food Americanization, and maybe it is - I'm not arguing that. But I think that for the quality and variety, Bamboo has one of the best buffets I've eaten at. The food was hot, there was a good selection that included all the appetizers I could ask for, a good variety of entrees from veggies to noodles to beef, as well as a few different sushi rolls to sample. All the buffet food was very tasty if not the most interesting dishes, and the sushi was also good. I'd recommend Bamboob over a number of others to anyone who feels like a buffet on a Sunday night. read more
