Second time here. First time was five stars. Four this time just bc we liked our entrees but they weren't quite as exceptional as the first time. I'll a very tough reviewer and almost all about the food. So don't take it hard. You definitely want to try this place. And very friendly staff and quick service. Some of the items aren't available always but when they are, it's so worth the stop. The environment is fast paced. Family was starving after we landed and found this place close to the airport. Ordered a few dishes thinking they would be california sized, but no!!! The portions literally followed the everything is bigger in texas saying! Didn't know the portions were that big that we ordered too much and had tons of leftovers. Coming from an asian american, all the dishes were authentic and tasted just like home! Came here after I read an article about the top places to get Peking duck in Houston. This place definitely did not disappoint. This might be my new favorite chinese restaurant. Bonus points for being relatively close to me in the woodlands. We started our meal with Crab Rangoons. These were better than your average crab Rangoons, they were generously filled with crab and cream cheese. For entrees, we ordered a whole Peking duck, Sizzling Szechuan chicken and beef lo mein. The Peking duck was definitely the stand out. Nice crisp on the skin and it comes with all the right accoutrements. The Sizzling Szechuan chicken was also surprisingly excellent. Who would have thought you could get delicious Peking duck on this side of Houston? Not me! I've seen their red sign that claims they have the best Peking duck, and let me tell you that's pretty up there! They had a wide selection of Chinese inspired dishes that are family style portions which is always nice to see. The staff was friendly and helpful and for early dinner Sunday it wasn't too busy either. This restaurant has a very relaxed feel to it which was appreciated. This is now our pre/post flight spot as it is relatively close to IAH. Be careful about having luggage in the car though as it seems there are a lot of break ins. Their pricing is super fair, and order less than you think you should because portions are HUGE. Highlight menu items are the Peking duck (the best in Houston in my opinion as they correctly cut the skin separate from the meat), which comes with a duck soup and the wrappers, and the sizzling plates. I always love the theatrics of the sizzling plate as they serve it in front of you and they are very generous with toppings here. read more

This place took me by surprise. There is plenty of parking, the curb appeal is beautiful and welcoming. We walked in and were greeted and seated. The venue inside and out was aesthetically pleasing. We ordered various food but our favorite is the duck which is flavourful, skin is crispy and its not oily, and our favorite soup was the wanton soup. Meals are family style so eveyone gets a taste. Bamboo House lends itself toward more authentic chinese food; however, still has some Americanized dishes due to the area it is located. This was my first time visiting and it's a little weird how a restaurant is still closed, even though Covid ended a long time ago. I've kept checking on their status on when they may return to dine for several months now, but still see the same conclusion: to-go only! Customers do not care, and still come for Bamboo's delicious food. I was passing by one day and finally decided to visit and order to go, even though I dread to go orders. I love dining in. Of course that isn't an option here at the moment. The menu indicates they can't do take out on a half order of peking duck. But they let me. At around $28, it's not the cheapest in town, but not the most expensive either. As far as taste, wow, it was really good. I only ate half, then a few days later finished the meal and it still tasted pretty good then. MUST state we live about 20 mins from restaurant - we were a little afraid of how the food would be once we got home. Surprisingly food was nice and hot & fresh! Came for a birthday dinner. 11 of us and they didn't have a problem getting us a table after about a 10 min wait. The Peking duck and duck soup was delicious. The skin was nice and crispy and greasy. It was my first time trying duck and I was very impressed with it and the taste. Only negatives were they did not serve alcohol and all our dishes came out at separate times. Bamboo house used to be located in the Westheimer area near the Galleria when it first opened, I tried it there and thought that the duck was too oily/greasy at the time. I have since tried it again at this new location and it's the same result the duck is still very oily/greasy. When you order the duck meal here, you will get the carbs to wrap it in along with cucumber, green onion, and sauce, you will also get a soup. The most enjoyable part of the meal was probably the soup which was very flavorful and light. I prefer the bao buns given at other places that serve peking duck over the flat type of carb they use here, but that is just personal preference. Overall, the meal was very average. read more

Finally got to try this place after coming back to Texas after a year! The first time we came, they were still closed inside and only doing take out because of Covid. We ordered hot and sour soup and Peking duck (duck soup included) with order. We weren't that hungry, so we only ordered a couple dishes. The hot and sour soup came out fairly quickly, I'm sure they premade it and scooped it out from a big pot. The flavor was there, but it wasn't sour at all. The Peking duck that came out was crispy! I loved all the garnishes that came with the order: the cucumbers, slices green onions, and the wraps. They also gave us rock sugar, duck juice and sauce to eat it with. I think because the duck was oven roasted, it dried out the duck but it's not too bad once you add the sauces and garnishes. The duck soup that came with the Peking duck was delicious. The broth was very light and flavorful. Maybe they used the duck bones to make it? I'll be back here again to try other dishes on the menu next time I'm back in town!
