Was in the area and yelp ratings were pretty decent for this. The place was totally packed. It's definitely and older place. As some reviewers say a hole in the wall. The staff was very friendly the portion was beyond huge. I feel like this one container could feed 6 people with no problem. This picture I attached is after I had some of it. It's barely dented. My plate was full. If I was in the area would definitely return here with a small group to feed because who's eating all of this. read more

Nee Hao Restaurant - Chicken Lo Mein with shrimp - Chinese Near Me - Houston, Texas

I happened to stop by the restaurant right after they opened for the day. Their parking lot is tiny and hard to get a spot but I was lucky. Went in and ordered. They said 15 mins but my food was ready in half the time. I ordered the lunch special with 3 wings and fried rice. I subbed for shrimp fried rice which was a 2.00 up charge. They give you a lot of condiments too without asking. The food was good and I had plenty for 2 meals. It was super cheap too and the ladies were really nice. read more

15 years ago, I used to eat here once or twice a week. Our business moved to La Porte and I never seemed to be in the area at lunchtime. I happened by a lunchtime the other day so I stopped in. It's still hard to find a place to park, but make the walk. The prices are reasonable, the food is good, and the portions are huge! It was as good as I remembered! read more

I ordered lemon chicken with white rice. It tasted old like it was reheated not crunchy or fresh at all. The lemon sauce looked water down. It had no flavor. Very disappointed couldn't eat it. read more

This is a true "hole in the wall" restaurant that I found by accident while close by. It is a Chinese restaurant that also serves fried chicken. Nee Hao is located next to a gas station and parking is available in front of the restaurant but can be crowded during lunch time. Their business is split between to go orders and dine in. Nothing fancy here. I decided to try the fried chicken and ordered at the counter the 3 piece special for $8.75 that comes with ham fried rice and an egg roll. Bottled drinks are $2 extra. Pretty affordable, right? The food was delivered less than 10 minutes later to my table in a styrofoam container. After opening it there was a large amount of food in there. The chicken looked great along with the very large serving of fried rice. The chicken wasn't completely hot along with the rice. Some parts of the chicken were barely warm while others were hot. It was edible but would have been sooo much better hot. Ditto on the ham fried rice. The egg roll was hot and delicious, I would have easily given this meal a 4 if the food temp was higher along with the fantastic value of the meal. Perhaps their Chinese food is good too as long as it is served hot, read more

I've gone back a second time & they still are my go-to Chinese food place. The amount of good food they give you, for the price, is top notch. I spent $25 on a chicken plate (3 wings, ham fried rice & egg roll and a large combination fried rice with an extra egg roll. Great service, good food, amazing prices! I highly recommend. read more

I heard this place had the best Chinese food in Houston so I came all the way from LA to find out. The lady taking my order was patient as I figured out what I wanted and even gave suggestions. I went with fried chicken, pork fried rice, and egg rolls. Nee Hao did NOT disappoint! The food was delicious and I had enough to take back home to LA with me! I was impressed and would definitely come back! read more

The very best Chinese food in or around Houston PERIOD! House fried rice is amazing, the fried chicken makes you wanna dance it's so good and the sweet sour chicken is the best you'll ever have. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent and the Ambiance well, let's face it...you don't come here for the ambiance, do you? This place will feed you like crazy for $15! If you want ambiance you can eat somewhere else, pay twice the price and get half as much food. And it probably won't taste as good either. read more

It was super busy. When I walked in, I was not immediately acknowledged, but the people who walked in behind were greeted and asked if they were picking up or ordering. They said they were placing a to go order which I was also doing. They were told to go to the next counter. So I followed suit. Food was just ok. Portion of the rice was plentiful. I ordered shrimp fried rice with an upcharge. I literally had 4 shrimp (yes I counted because it was a lot of rice and I did not see the shrimp initially). My chicken wings were not as seasoned as I would have liked. Hot sauce did not help. The restaurant is like a "hole in the wall." Overall, I may try again but I will try the chicken and turkey fried rice instead of paying for invisible shrimp. read more

I love this place! It's been around for years and the food is awesome! The portions are massive and delicious! The owners are hilarious as well! It gets very busy at lunch and dinner peak times so give yourself some time. The price is good and the deal comes in how much food they give you! I will always go here read more

New Hao. How are you? This mom and pop spot been around for over 20 years. It was my spot in the 20s with "momma" always yelling at us. It's Chinese American, basic, no frills food that will soothe all your cravings. They be busy. All the time. There is pick up (if you can get through on the phone), dine in and drive thru. Had not been in a long time but stopped by Saturday on the way home from Spring. Did the drive thru for the first time and ordered a large shrimp fried rice and a couple of orders of their fried vegetable spring rolls or so I thought. Misunderstanding left me with vegetable egg rolls which are not the same. The fried vegetable spring rolls are mini size (2 for $1). I also ordered a large wonton soup. I still had to wait 20 min so they had me pull into the front. The food: shrimp fried rice filled to the brim of the box. Shrimp count was less than before but still delicious. The egg rolls were better than expected esp with their red sweet and sour sauce. The win tonight soup was filled with Chinese veggies, char siu (Chinese bbq pork) and wontons. There isn't a lot of filling per se but still very yummy. Their menu looked the same. Combos etc. I forgot to ask for their chili sauce which was like crack. Addictive. Same owners. Cantonese. Nice people. Food came out piping hot. I live in the city so was about a 20 minute drive home and the soup was hot enough to burn my tongue. Def will stop again next time I'm in the hood. So many wonderful memories. read more

If you're from the East or West Coast, this is probably as close as you'll get to a classic House Special Fried Rice with chicken, pork, and beef. It won't taste like the version from back home, but hey--it's better than nothing. The flavors lean more toward a Mexican-Chinese fusion, giving it a homemade feel rather than a true-to-tradition taste. Portions: Decent, nothing to complain about. Service: * To-Go: The staff is always in a rush. You order, you leave--don't expect small talk or a warm welcome. * Dine-In: A small space with basic seating. On busy days, it feels cramped and a bit uninviting. Staff Interaction: If you're hoping to chat about Chinese cuisine or the menu, don't expect much insight--staff members don't identify as Chinese and aren't particularly engaged in those conversations. Parking: A mess. Reckless drivers everywhere. Would I recommend it? Sure, try it once. It's not life-changing, but if you're craving something kind of close to what you remember, it gets the job done. read more

Amazing! Kung Pao beef was legit. Huge portion! You MUST check this place out. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff too!

I haven't been in a while but definitely a gem in the community. The pepper steak and egg roll are my favorite. It's filling and you'll for sure have leftovers. The service is usually fast and they accept call ins and have a drive through window. read more

Service was fast and kind but we did arrive around 4:00 so that was well before any rush. Ordered the orange chicken and general chicken. Both were good but I probably wouldn't go again. Parking is really tight and few spaces. Also got the pan fried dumplings and they were okay. Lastly, you're by the airport so the area and space reflects that. read more

Nee Hao Restaurant - From top to bottom, General Chicken, Pan Fried Dumpling (6), and Orange Chicken - Chinese Near Me - Houston, Texas

The food here is completely overrated. It's not good, and everything is just overly seasoned without having any real flavor. The rice is bland and tasteless. My order was even given to me wrong, and overall the taste and quality were a 1/10. It's honestly not worth eating here, there are much better places around. I waited 50 minutes for rice and beef. The wonton soup tasted more like a pozole-style soup with cabbage (or maybe lettuce?), and the pork wonton wrapper was soggy. The food simply isn't good. Maybe it used to be at some point, but that's clearly no longer the case. It doesn't taste Chinese at all; it's just a lot of fried, greasy food trying to pass as flavor. The quality, freshness, and actual taste were missing in everything I tried. The place itself doesn't look good, it's just a small spot with a few tables, definitely not somewhere you'd want to sit down and eat comfortably. So, If you're looking for comforting, flavorful Chinese or just good food, this is definitely not the place, especially now that they've raised their prices. I feel like people only go here for the "quantity" of food, not the quality. read more

Then they tried to act like I lied about receiving there egg rollls that tasted of old grease same as the general Tso chicken it all taste old with no flavor ... no chili peppers , sauce thin as water on the chicken and the white rice was mushy as hell ... I will never return and ... I always thought hole in the walls had the best food but this one was by far disappointing! Sigh Ned get some flavor !!! read more

When I first opened the box I was overwhelmed by 2 things... first I ordered Singapore noodles which traditionally are made with rice noodles and it was lo mein style noodles so initially I was disappointed, however, I was also overwhelmed by the amount of food I received for the price and then I took my first bite and I was sold it was amazing the flavor the taste the amount of chicken and beef and meat. The food is of good quality and prepared well. There's a menu containing many popular items. It is important to recognize, it is divided into individual portions and family portions. The service is very good, all items are individually prepared, so there usually a short wait depending on the items and the busiest times. Most of their business appears to be takeout, but there is an adequate and clean dining area. This Is a typical neighborhood business with a considerable return customers, like myself. The staff is always busy, but friendly. The only distraction is parking. It's in an old business strip with other businesses. I've always managed to find a spot, it sometimes requires patience and courtesy! read more

I grew up minutes away from Nee Hao and it was my mother's go-to restaurant for Chinese takeout. It had been over a decade since I've had it and I must say, this bit of nostalgia made me smile! Née Hao hasn't changed much since I last visited over 10 years ago and the menu is very extensive. I feel there's a lot to choose from. I ordered fried wontons, wonton soup, and chicken lo mein. There was a very generous amount of food for only $23. The food was good, I did need a bit of soy sauce and chili for my lo mein but you really can't beat the amount of food you get for the price. I will say, this isn't a place I'd recommend dining in. There's not a lot of seating and much of the restaurant has boxes stacked. I'd recommend just ordering to go. read more

Went there today for lunch. I waited almost an hour for my meal. I went during the lunch rush but people that arrived and ordered after me got their meals before me. The food was disappointing. I ordered the orange chicken and shrimp fried rice. I never ate the egg roll so I can't comment on that. The orange chicken was fried too hard and slightly overcooked. I won't say it was say old cause like I said they were packed. The shrimp fried rice was missing the vital Things friend rice needs....the egg, onions and veggies. I'm glad it was less than 20$. I think people are giving them food reviews due to the portion size and low cost. I'd rather get less and pay more for good food. I will not return and the search continues. read more

I don't live around here but my friend wanted some Chinese food before she left for England and this place popped up for Yelp. I'd give this place a five star but the facility isn't really ideal for dining in. Plus the surrounding area is a bit suspish...HOWEVER!! This is one of the BEST hole in the wall Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at! The food was fresh, the meat was tender and the dish was full of flavor! I'm just blown away at the quality of food and the portion is definitely BANG for your buck!!! Whatever savings they're making on rent, it's definitely going into their amazing food. Plus the service was fast and they're super friendly. I may have to make the drive to come back and get an order to go next time!! read more

Amazing always fresh food! Great customer service! Excellent quality and quantity of food

On 5/7/2026 I ordered the General's Chicken (their name for General Tso's Chicken). There was a very large amount of chicken and rice in the container. There is definitely two meals worth of portions in the container. When I arrived home there was steam still rising from the food. The chicken was fresh and moist but there were only to or three drops of sauce in the bottom of the container. I had high hopes for the chicken but unfortunately, it was very bland with a bitter after taste. I have had MUCH better and very few worse than this in my 15-20 different visits at other Asian restaurants. The fried rice had an unusual taste. I think people are giving the restaurant very high reviews based upon portion size vs flavor. Was the food horrible or old? No. The older gentleman (that I think is the owner) was very friendly and a genuine pleasure to speak with. I used the drive thru but was sent on a quest for a parking spot at the front after placing my order. I really had high hopes for this restaurant but was disappointed. The flavor for my selection was not there. I considered going back and trying something different but since even the fried rice was disappointing, I do not think that I will be returning. There are better Asian restaurants (flavor wise) for less money. Large serving sizes with bland product does not equal a great value to me. I paid about $15 for my order plus tax and tip. read more

they will over charge you for what you order on the menu and then give you 4 pieces of all cuts of chicken instead of 8piece wings and the house rice was spoiled, and the egg rolls were fried in old grease.
