I'm amazed this place is still in service, the food was by far the worst Chinese food I've had. I got the lo mein, the noodles had to come from a box, no flavor either other than salt. The fried rice also had no flavor, tasted like white rice and brown food coloring. My girlfriend got the orange chicken, the sauce was thicker than pudding, you could tell it was from a bottle. The only think that was decent were the crab rangoons but it is easy to tell nothing is made fresh and most of what we had was frozen before being made. read more

We are visiting from Arizona and have visited here many times and have always had out standing meals and service at all the Mountain Home restaurants until last night. Let me just say that the sushi was good but everything else was bad to say the least we got crab Rangoon's and they were still FROZEN and the teriyaki chicken was horrible and it was tough. Bamboo Garden is our go-to sushi place in Mtn Home. We've been going there for many, many years because they never disappoint. Tonight was no exception. Honestly kind of baffled at how bad the food was and how, if this is their norm, that they are still open. We ordered a wide array of food for our group. Orange chicken, kung pow chicken, Mongolian beef, crab rangoons, and a ginger salad. Most of the above also came with "fried rice". The flavoring of the orange chicken was pretty good, the texture was not, incredibly soggy. The kung pow chicken had not a drop of flavor/season/anything. It just resembled boiled soft food. The Mongolian beef was ok, that's what most people ended up sharing, along with the crab rangoons. The ginger salad was the most bizarre salad maybe ever. I feel like they were trying to empty their veggie drawer as they made the salad. Bell peppers and broccoli? On an Asian ginger salad? That aside, the dressing looked as though it might have expired so I didn't eat it. The "fried rice" was white rice with a small portion of soy sauce in it. Not a veggie, egg, sense of fryness to it. My husband and I stopped here on our drive back home as it was the only place near us that was open on the Fourth of July. Google maps told us they were open until 9PM but it turns out they closed at 8PM and we had arrived right at closing. They were kind and accommodating and told us to come on in regardless and we did not feel rushed at all! The food came out within 15 minutes and was fresh and delicious. What a pleasant surprise. An extensive menu with something for everyone. When in doubt ask for recommendations. The decor is barren but clean. The service was quite good with the waiter being attentive without hovering. I was extremely disappointed that they no longer offered buffet but the menu is widely varied, something for every taste. I ordered the hot and spicy combination. It came with egg drop soup, a delicately flavored treat! The crab raccoon was very good. Unlike most Chinese restaurants, the rangoons were pocket style, not flooded. The filling was excellent providing great flavor within the crispy wrap. The hot and spicy combination didn't disappoint. It was however neither hot or spicy, it was just right. Each item in the dish was tender and flavorful, the the sauce brought it all together very well. The fried rice was very mild and quite good. The hot tea was a bit weak but had a good flavor. Honestly, this place is to Chinese food what Chef Boyardee is to Italian cuisine. Service here was really good, but considering we were the only ones in there, it should have been. The food on the other hand, really wasn't. Soup smelled burnt, like it had been in a too hot pot for too long. It didn't taste as burnt as is smelled, but then it really didn't taste of much else; just warm, unseasoned chicken broth. I ordered the sesame chicken; The chicken itself was obviously frozen; uniformed pieces, rubbery texture, no flavor and just not good. The sauce tasted more like a lemon chicken sauce with sesame seeds, onion powder, and way too much garlic powder. In fact, all I could taste after leaving was garlic. Definitely not sesame sauce. The fried rice was just white rice with soy sauce; no vegetables whatsoever and just plain sad. You know those dry packets of Chinese rice that you dump into boiling water and rehydrate? Alright now, I'm actually from Mountain Hole but, currently live else where. While in town, we wanted to visit one of the old haunts for dinner and after, felt compelled to write a review. The only thing that has changed about this place is the fact that they now serve, "sushi". As we walked in the door, the old familiar smell of Crab Rangoon came wafting through the air and we immediately thought we'd be in for an old school experience, boy were we wrong! This place hasn't changed a bit in twenty years, in fact I swear the grease on the bathroom walls was in fact, from way back when. The place was hopping busy, lots of laughter to be heard that should be a good sign, right?! As I walked past the buffet line checking out the offerings, the only thing I noticed to be different was the price on the crab legs, it's gone up. So, we decided on sushi. Nice assortment of American style Sushi. Once it all arrived, we were surprised that instead of the crab noted on the menu, it was in fact that fake "crab" meat and heavily mixed with mayonnaise. Every roll has it in it and pretty much makes up the entirety of the roll. We even ordered a scallop roll, thinking it would come with scallops. Nope...a few small diced pieces of scallop and the rest was the fake crab/mayo mixture. I asked if it was possible to get a real scallop roll and was told that, it would take a few minutes because the scallops would need to thaw. I declined that offer. After receiving fantastic service from our server, we asked about how the tipping sitch was there, since the sushi chef had a tip jar on the sushi bar counter. We were informed that recently management changed the tipping arrangement from the server making a servers wage, around 2$ bucks that, they were expected to tip out the sushi chef half, as in 50% of their tips! I had to ask again, thinking that maybe I misheard our server. Unfortunately, I was told that the sushi chef(s) one who is the owner, well they are paid a salary which is in fact well over the 2$ bucks the servers make yet, the servers lose half to them. I'm not sure, but that seemed criminal to us. We tipped him cash and left a 2$ tip on the credit card. Mind you the owners of this establishment, well they own several business all throughout Arkansas, yet steal half of their servers tips. We will not be back for sub-par "sushi" laden with fake crab and mayo, let alone support a business with hard working servers who lose half of their hard earned tips. Still giving it three stars for quality, but on a recent lunch visit many of the trays sat empty on the buffet for an unreasonable period of time. When you run out of egg rolls and several other things, and can't get them replinished in 10 or 15 minutes, then you've got a problem in the kitchen that needs to be looked into and corrected by management. That's unacceptable. Hope they get it straightened out, cause there's just too much competition in town to risk loosing loyal, regular customers because of kitchen problems. read more

We used to love the sweet and sour chicken here... but now the only good thing about it - it is white chicken. But we got it for take-out at 7pm on a Saturday evening and it was like it had been sitting from lunch and they refried it. The sweet and sour sauce had turned into a gel. Egg rolls swimming in grease and burnt! The cream cheese in the wontons was funky!! Maybe microwaved ‍I don't even know - it was like runny.
