Ring Ring...

This was a nice place and my family and I had a really good meal. The ambiance overall was nice, all wood all around with sportsman themes and I love the old telephone hanging on the wall. It was a bit humid inside as it was a 98 degree day... The waitstaff was polite and very friendly, we had called and made the reservation for my wife and i's 25th anniversary, of which they did not mention after asking on the phone if it was a special occasion... They seated us in the center of the dining room while there was a window seat overlooking the river still open. (Also noticing the top windows in the dining room were quite grimy and would let in a lot more light if cleaned.) The orders went in fine, food came out in due time and the waiter upon pouring the wine said he would maintain the wine glasses, but did not... he did come with one round of water refills when I set my glass towards the edge of the table. We got Duck Fat Fries for the table, Black pepper Aioli ~ shaved parm and tasty pieces of smoked bacon. They were very tasty and we cleaned the plate except three completely black fries on the plate which were unedible from the bottom of the fry basket which some how made it on the plate. The waiter also mentioned that he would clear the bread and app plates "to give us some more room" and did not... Then commenting on the empty duck fry plate "that we must have enjoyed it" as "it was empty" but then not taking it... We stacked all the plates in the center of the table and they were not taken until he came to box the leftovers... My wife had the Tenderloin Tips... she ordered them medium rare but they were well done and no pink at all... she reported that they were tender even tho over done and that the Fettuccini was cooked nicely although there was an overbearing amount of sauce and the wild rice was toothy... I had the Blackened Redfish ~ a Creole favorite, I get it when ever I can (and had it two weeks ago in central Florida)... the fish was treated nicely, the sauce was smooth with a light kick over a bed of wild rice that I thought was cooked well... The shrimps were a nice touch and a nice size as well... My mother got the redfish as well and did enjoy it too. My Father ordered the Walnut encrusted Walleye which he stated the coating was a bit thick, but said it was tasty and he did enjoy it. We all enjoyed our fish while of all three fish dishes, all three separate plates had bones we found. The seasonal veg on every plate was the same, one small carrot split in half which was quite tasty and well cooked, three small sprigs of asparagus which was perfectly cooked, one slice of red pepper (which my wife commented was odd), one mushroom split in half that I believe was cooked in a cognac (which my mother said was "very spicy") and a 1/4 of a small red onion which was cooked nicely while still having a good tooth. The meal it's self was very tasty and we enjoyed ourselves but There were a few simple things that could have been done to make the experience better. over all a nice enjoyable meal.... 3.8 stars

The TOMAHAWK!!!

First time dining experience. Saw the restaurant sign on the main road many times but never made the turn. Finally, tonight, our first experience. I had no idea what to expect since I didn't review the menu ahead of time. So it turns out they serve TOMAHAWK ribeyes on special occasions and they had a few left from Valentine's!!! Golly!!! The special menus said they have them in 2-5 pound sizes but the smallest they had left was a 3 pound! Well, I couldn't help myself!!! I ordered it MED with flame charring on the outside! It was served with baby golden potatoes and fresh vegetables. My wife had the Surf & Turf! Pictures to follow. Our waiter, Shane, described everything thoroughly without our prompting! We also had the Winter Sangria Moscoto drinks and then the wife added a Magic Margarita! We took home chocolate cheesecake and white chocolate bread pudding with rum sauce!!! We can't wait to go back!!! We have eaten at many high-end steak restaurants and this BY-FAR surpassed all expectations of a good dinner!!! I cannot recommend enough!!!

Reuben. Yum!

Beautiful view. Clean. Friendly. I had the rueben with fries. It was huge. And heavenly. The toasted rye, cheese pulls every bite, lean, well seasoned pastrami, creamy dressing, and sauerkraut. Yum! Also had a hot chocolate with a mound of whip cream. It was hot and perfect for a cold day. Next time I will try one of their Special Holiday Drinks (with alcohol)

This old fashioned diner makes wonderful large portions of food! Their homemade pies are also delicious.

He never skipped a beat, including checking back with us shortly after our food arrived to see if we needed anything else. I never order ribs but I decided to jump out of my comfort zone and give it a shot. They were fall off the bone tender with a good bit of sauce, unfortunately, they were also pretty salty. Everyone else seemed happy and content with their choices. I've been to Colton's 3 times and this trip wasn't better or worse than my previous 2 visits. Pro Tip: You can get a bucket of peanuts to eat at your table but you have to ask for them.

Another Well Run Location!…read more I was in the Batesville area for business and decided to try out Colton's location in town. I have eaten at many Coltons all over the USA and wanted to see if this location was just as good or better than other Colton's locations. When I arrived it was at the beginning of dinner service and already starting to fill up with diners. The hostess asked me if I wanted the bar or dining room and I chose the dining room. When I was seated the server in my section came to my table within a few minutes. Once she went over some of the items that Colton's is known for, she took my drink order and gave me some time to choose my meal. I ordered the Filet with a side of grilled shrimp and green beans. When my server dropped off my beer, she also came with a basket of fresh hot rolls, which were right out of the oven and the butter melted on the buns making it a great snack while I waited for my food. I had asked the server to bring out my shrimp first, and I was in no rush for my main course. The shrimp came out and they were plump and juicy, still hot and served with a side of melted butter with a lemon wedge and on a bed of rice. The shrimp were a great starter and they were seasoned just right and not too salty. My steak came out cooked just a little over medium-rare, so not quite how I wanted it but I did not complain, as it was a very good cut of beef, and tasted very good. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit as they were very good. The green beans weren't much to write home about, but they were edible. Overall a good inexpensive meal, with great service, and the server took her time showing me how to pay on the tablet at the table. If I'm in Batesville again, I will most definitely come back

Amazing server! Amazing food , but the best part is that my…read morekid actually eats. He is such a picky eater so much so that it is downright annoying. But he absolutely loves the barbecue chicken! Not only does he eat, but he eats it all. That and of course the rolls Every time we go there that is the only thing he gets. And now my other son is obsessed with them as well. It is made from actual chicken tenders. Even though it is on the appetizer menu it's enough food to be eaten as a meal!

He told us he was serving for 3 years and acted like he was a brand new server. Started with the fact he had no idea how much a glass of wine was!!! You worked here for 3 years and you have no idea what a glass of wine cost???? He told us it was "like $6.25 a glass". I said, there are 6 wines, you mean they are all $6.25? He didnt know... i said while you go back please find out what a bottle of wine is, specifically the Robert Mondavi.... He came back and said the Mondavi was $8.75( not close to the $6.25 he said) asked what the bottle was... he had to go back and ask again, He came back and said "somewhere between $20 and $30. I said that is a big difference, can you tell me the exact price for the Mondavi wine. Finally came back and said $30. (This guy says he has been here 3 years!?!?) WTF!?!? We got our salad and wine eventually. Ate the salad and started the second glass of wine when i had to flag him down and ask if we were supposed to get some bread, oh yeah he says. During all this time he never came to ask us how we were doing or if we needed anything. Asked him about the special they advertised in a BIG sign out side but nothing on the menus told you about the shrimp trio special, he told us about it. Mom ordered the shrimp trio and i ordered the NY steak medium. Mom and i sat and drank our wine and talked. Food came and my steak was well done. (Knew it was not going to be good sending it back). Sent it back anyway, why pay $30 for something that is not right? He left me with my green beans and potato which i ended up eating because i was starving and it took 12 mins to get my steak. By the time the steak came i was no longer hungry so i got a box to take my steak home. (Had two bites and it was tough and stringy). We just paid a lot of money for stuff i didnt even get to eat in the restaurant! Soooo disappointing!! Had to once again call Julian over to ask for boxes and a bill. Not once did Julian come over by himself once we gave him our order. No the restaurant was not full or overly busy, LOTS of empty tables. No desire to ever return here. So disappointing. Looked forward to a wonderful meal with my mom and it was nothing but aggravating!

My favorites were the loaded bagels, the ready to order omelettes, and the perfectly poured mimosas. They have the dining out market around here in a choke hold. If you go back and look at old Yelp pictures this guy is so confident you have no other choices that he essentially says to "Ef" off and go somewhere else to eat, or "sit down and shut up", I'll get to you when I want to and you will take it. Now, I did not see this sign, I am not sure if it is still there or not. Being an asshole myself, I kinda appreciate it though, LOL. Anywho... we went twice and ate once. Arrived for dinner about 7:30 on a Friday. 40 min wait. No biggie. Went back on a Sunday for lunch, 45 min wait, had a baby in tow so couldn't wait. Lil'C ain't having that... It's a nice place, nothing fancy, but good for the area. I mean Sara Huckabee. Ya know. Friday dinner was good. As per usual, C and I ordered enough food for us plus a couple more. Our server kinda started off slightly gruff, but my undeniable boyish charm melted that hard persona, and she warmed up considerably. By the end of the meal, she was bubbly and super helpful. We had fun conversation and she lead us to some fire dessert choices. We had the Crispy Shrimp Wraps that were on specials menu on 8-30-24. I enjoyed them immensely. The shrimp had some filling wrapped inside of it that was really tasty. Sauce served with it was solid too. Also had the Orange Chipotle Duck Wings appetizer. Very tasty, great fried skin texture, sticky spicy sweet glaze made them different than I have had before. Great original menu item! I had the Grilled Steelhead Trout (Rainbow). The bourbon pecan compound butter was underutilized and arrived as a solid puck when food was delivered. Fish had a great Smokey flavor and really didn't need the butter. I am not sure I even tasted it. C had the Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf. She barely touched it, when I inquired, she said it was "ok". Took it back with us but never ate it and threw 90% of it away. I've learned when to be inquisitive, and when to shut up. Both meals came with a salad bar, potato choice, and a pile of crap veggies. She got a big salad at the bar and loved it. I don't like food borne illness so I don't partake. We both had baked potatoes, they were completely plain, nothing on it. I am not sure who wants it like this. Good news is they use actual butter in the tables so I drowned that junt in butter and ate it up. If you've made it this far, I commend you, no one reads Yelp reviews. If you do get this far, below is your prize. The desserts are the ultimate stars here!!!! Homemade and the two we had were absolutely amazing! Gosh damn fantastic! Our desserts were taken to go as we over-ordered dinner. We had the Carrot Cake and Lemon Cheesecake. Holy crap! Both were stunning examples of baking expertise! I have never had a better Carrot Cake in my life. Indescribable good! Lemon Cheesecake was equally impressive. I could write a whole review just on these two desserts. I am pissed I forgot to go by and get some dessert to take back home. May never be back.... Crap resort pissed off C... '24 - 74/102. One in jail. One deleted.
