This review is for their Sunday brunch which is the only meal I've had at this establishment. This was the best brunch I've had. My favorites were the loaded bagels, the ready to order omelettes, and the perfectly poured mimosas. Other offerings included shrimp and grits, salmon, meatloaf, biscuits with white or chocolate gravy, and waffles. There was something for everyone in our party (ages 7-70). I had heard about Jansen's from a friend and now four months later I finally got there for lunch. The food was excellent. The service was great, but the atmosphere was not the best. It was extremely noisy and that is something I didn't expect. People were carrying on so loud and the music was fairly loud also. We couldn't even hear our waitress and we had to ask her several times to repeat what she said because we simply couldn't hear her. I couldn't even talk to my wife during lunch over the noise. When we walked in, a young lady, told us to sit at one of the round tables along the window. When we got there and sat down another waitress came along and told us that this table was reserved for large parties and we needed to move to a regular table, a smaller table. I didn't really mind moving, but we had just done what the lady told us to do. It really was more the second waitress's attitude, and the way she spoke to us that was irritating and completely unnecessary as no large groups ever came and sat at the larger tables. We have every intention of trying Jensen's again in the evening. Hopefully the noise level will be less severe with the evening crowd. The food is definitely worth the trip. It is excellent. At least what we had was and everything on the menu looks good. They have an unbelievably wide variety of desserts, and the pies that my wife and I had were excellent. read more

Was told one price for the kids buffet by the hostess-$8.95 for 12 and under- exact words. When we get ready to leave they have "6" buffets written on our ticket. There were only 3 adults and my 10 yr old daughter. Waitress says she didn't know why she wrote 6 and was charging for 4 adult buffets. I questioned the price for the kids buffet and was told it was for 8 and under! When I brought up the discrepancy to the manager I was told to get out and not come back with some inappropriate language. I had signed the cc receipt but promptly scratched out my name. I'll be disputing being overcharged. Why would management get so upset about their mistake instead of just owning it? Just be kind and respectful, simple! read more

Our experience got off to a poor start. We called three minutes before opening and were told abruptly that they weren't open yet. When we arrived, I walked inside and was met with a dismissive hand gesture and the comment "I will get you outside." The staff member then bumped my ankle with the sign without apologizing. We waited 1.5 hours to be seated, and the hostess who took our name and number was unfriendly. A bit more courtesy from the front-of-house team would have made a big difference. read more

Terrible staff! lady was rude when she took our name and number to add to the wait list. then we sat and waited in the heat our required hour, but when I noticed a large party being seated that came after us I got up to ask if we were next only to find out we were not on the list. Lady who took our information says "she's never seen us before" which was absolutely false. we stood there and talked to her for a solid two minutes while she took our information and we watched her enter in. they gave zero effort to apologize or fix it. worst experience and worst people. find literally anywhere else to eat. boar house up the road has great food and EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. read more

Someone needs to open another decent restaurant near this place. There is not much else around here to eat that isn't Mexican, BBQ, or Pizza. They have the dining out market around here in a choke hold. If you go back and look at old Yelp pictures this guy is so confident you have no other choices that he essentially says to "Ef" off and go somewhere else to eat, or "sit down and shut up", I'll get to you when I want to and you will take it. Now, I did not see this sign, I am not sure if it is still there or not. Being an asshole myself, I kinda appreciate it though, LOL. Anywho... we went twice and ate once. Arrived for dinner about 7:30 on a Friday. 40 min wait. No biggie. Went back on a Sunday for lunch, 45 min wait, had a baby in tow so couldn't wait. Lil'C ain't having that... It's a nice place, nothing fancy, but good for the area. I mean Sara Huckabee. Ya know. Friday dinner was good. As per usual, C and I ordered enough food for us plus a couple more. Our server kinda started off slightly gruff, but my undeniable boyish charm melted that hard persona, and she warmed up considerably. By the end of the meal, she was bubbly and super helpful. We had fun conversation and she lead us to some fire dessert choices. We had the Crispy Shrimp Wraps that were on specials menu on 8-30-24. I enjoyed them immensely. The shrimp had some filling wrapped inside of it that was really tasty. Sauce served with it was solid too. Also had the Orange Chipotle Duck Wings appetizer. Very tasty, great fried skin texture, sticky spicy sweet glaze made them different than I have had before. Great original menu item! I had the Grilled Steelhead Trout (Rainbow). The bourbon pecan compound butter was underutilized and arrived as a solid puck when food was delivered. Fish had a great Smokey flavor and really didn't need the butter. I am not sure I even tasted it. C had the Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf. She barely touched it, when I inquired, she said it was "ok". Took it back with us but never ate it and threw 90% of it away. I've learned when to be inquisitive, and when to shut up. Both meals came with a salad bar, potato choice, and a pile of crap veggies. She got a big salad at the bar and loved it. I don't like food borne illness so I don't partake. We both had baked potatoes, they were completely plain, nothing on it. I am not sure who wants it like this. Good news is they use actual butter in the tables so I drowned that junt in butter and ate it up. If you've made it this far, I commend you, no one reads Yelp reviews. If you do get this far, below is your prize. The desserts are the ultimate stars here!!!! Homemade and the two we had were absolutely amazing! Gosh damn fantastic! Our desserts were taken to go as we over-ordered dinner. We had the Carrot Cake and Lemon Cheesecake. Holy crap! Both were stunning examples of baking expertise! I have never had a better Carrot Cake in my life. Indescribable good! Lemon Cheesecake was equally impressive. I could write a whole review just on these two desserts. While on vacation Janssens was recommended to us by locals for the brunch. They only do the brunch on the weekends so we made sure to get there. We were not disappointed this place was amazing! The service was top notch and the food was even better. It was a little pricey but totally worth it! Our total was around $75 for 3 people including drinks but considering the types of food they had full breakfast bar (made to order omelets) delicious waffles, salmon and ham too and it's all you can eat, you can't really beat that. We went on a fall day when the wait is shorter; it paid off - we were seated immediately. The servers were friendly, if overworked. The food was exceptional; my Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf was superb - as was my wife's Grilled Chicken Breast. The salad bar is small - but well-stocked with everything I love on my salad! Plus a magical array of crackers overhead! The house drinks were inspired, and I found several good choices! (There is a full bar; ignore the 'Beer & Wine Only' note on the Yelp page. We wanted dessert, but our waitress ghosted us for about 15-20 minutes after we finished eating - so we just paid and left. The only way to make this place better is to expand and hire more staff. The worst customer service and rudest people I've ever met in my life. We are on vacation from another state the hostess was so rude told us to get out and she would be out to put our name on list. I tried to ask a question she repeated get out 3 times. After 20 min I went back in ask a bartender if we could get our name on the list we've Ben waiting 20 min just to get name on list. She said oh you Havnt Been out there that long but get out and I'll send her out. I've never Ben treated so bad by restaurant staff. And that place was recommended by locals who live here. 5 Stars, would give 10, if, I could. Sometimes there is music. The lake is a great view and time passes quickly. The food is great, every little thing is great. I never eat anything there that isn't worth the hour drive, and a 1 hour wait. I come prepared for the wait. Its ship shape. Its a busy hustling shuffling place, nice and clean. As, I leave, I always gaze over at the desserts prettier than Aunt Bee's tea pallor party cakes. I think, why didn't I save a little bit of room?...awh, maybe next time. One of my five favorite places to eat. Yes! to Janssens anything...esp the brunch - to munch - to lunch - Five stars ! Great view onto the lake. Waitstaff is friendly but they make me feel like they are rushing us to leave as soon as we sit down. Parking is terrible on a very busy dangerous highway. Food is good, and portions are decent sized. Everything is pretty much $20 and up, no bargains here. Desert is their specialty. Rainy day but it's still a lovely view, the food was really good and service was delightful. Nice salad bar (!!) which I feel like is rare, and comes with soup and is gratis with entrees. Everything tastes homemade, super fresh and hot, well seasoned. It's really everything you could hope for. We had a shrimp po-boy, chicken tenders and a wagyu burger with bacon chipotle jam. All house-made. Not terribly fancy, but delish! Wouldn't hesitate to choose a higher priced fancier entree next time. Biggest compliment from me is we took dessert with us since everything else was so good - I used to be a pastry chef, so we're rarely tempted by dessert. I think my wife and I went to Janssen's on 10/07/22. I was not too sure about it because of the bad reviews but my wife had been there years before and enjoyed it. We went for lunch and the door was opened straight up at 11:00 am. We were greeted by the staff as we entered and told to seat ourselves. It's smaller than I thought it'd be but no problem there. They have a bar, nicely decorated and a nice view of the lake. They also have their own dock so if you're on the lake you can also come in that way. Our meal included the soup and salad bar. One of the reviews seemed to have a problem with it being small. Yes, it's not huge but it had everything I wanted on it and everything was extremely fresh. Soup of the day was actually chilly and it was pretty tasty too. It surely didn't come out of a can. I ordered the grilled hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. My wife ordered fried catfish with a loaded baked potato. Really nice portion sizes. Food came out hot and plated nicely. We both enjoyed it very much. For dessert we got a piece of 7-layer (?) chocolate cake to go. Our only mistake was not getting at least two pieces! It was by far the BEST chocolate cake I've had in a very long time. Perfectly moist, frosting was excellent and portion was good sized. Our waitress was great from the start. We never had to ask for drink refills. She was always there at the right time making sure everything was good and checking to see if we needed anything. Without a doubt the next time I'm in the area I'll be back! read more

Janssen's NEVER disappoints me. I think I really drive all the way from Memphis to Heber just to eat here. The entire staff is amazing! From the greeters, to the salad bar preparers, to the waitresses, to the owners...they are always on top of things. Even when their waitlist is an hour long and they are slammed with customers, they never skip a beat and are always professional. They are respectful, even when some of their customers are not. They know how to turn the other cheek and not let the occasional, obnoxious boaters and/or locals get under their skin. They are GOOD PEOPLE! To this day, the BEST BLT I've ever had in my life was from Janssen's. Their produce is the freshest you can get at any time of the year. Farm to table at its best. Got a love a place were you can dock your boat and go get some food. We were told it would be an hour wait but only ended up being 20 mins. We ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer (nice and spicy like I like them), we also ordered the prime rib special with the salad bar. Salad bar was nothing special but fresh. My prime rib was a little over cooked. I ordered medium but got medium well. It has good flavor and the mashed potatoes and green bean sides were good. We were so full that we had to take a piece of their famous pies and cakes with us for desert. The carrot cake was the only one left so we took it! Made the decision easier since we didn't want cheese cake that night. Let me tell you the carrot cake was amazing... I will go back just for that alone! Food was delicious. We each had a steak, NY Strip and a Ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. However, I'm not sure I could ever go back after watching the waitress in charge of restocking the salad bar use her bare hands to stuff lettuce and other vegetables down into their containers. I also saw her pour blue cheese dressing and to prevent it from dripping down the side when she was finished, she used her ungloved finger to wipe the edge and then flicked the extra off her finger and into the service dish. Then I saw her pick things off the floor with her bare hand and then continue to stock the salad bar. She needs to be trained or fired but I'm quite sure they are aware and this does not concern them. Perhaps a slew of sick patrons would change their mind about that but I don't think I'll be back to test it. I had salad before I saw this and if I get sick I swear I'm suing somebody.
