Mike's Place continues to be consistently great experience with polite hostesses, attentive servers and delicious food. I've never been disappointed during any of my visits. You can make reservations or just walk in. They offer a variety of seating options. Bar, tables or booths. My favorite appetizers are sweet potato fries and Parmesan zucchini. Perfection in taste and serving sizes. During this visit I chose the rib eye steak . It was cooked to my request, flavorful and very tender. For my sides I chose a fully loaded potato and buttered corn Serving sizes are large, I have enough leftovers to take home for at least q more meal. Another win for dining in Conway. To finish out our stay here we had dinner with a high school friend of mine at this establishment. Besides the reviews here I had heard from a few locals that this place was a good place for dinner and nobody has anything bad to say about it. I'm happy to confirm that was the same result for us. We were seated quickly even without a reservation around 5:30 this evening. We ordered the bang bang shrimp for an appetizer and a round of cocktails. They were served fairly quickly considering how busy they were at the time. For dinner I got the pecan crusted white fish and my friend got the blackened white fish. Both tasted delicious which was great. My wife got a Cesar salad and a loaded bake potato and it was also good. The service was great as well. The waiter and other staff were very attentive and checked on us regularly. The overall feel of the place is casual upscale. It's nice without being fancy. It has kind of a rustic vibe to it that is nice to look at. We enjoyed our experience here and would come back again when we're in town. read more

So, a friend and I attended a private meeting there tonight. We were in our own room separate from the regular diners. Our waiter was very nice and fairly quick. Here's what we didn't like. They brought out my iced tea and it was almost clear and for sweet tea, it wasn't. I add to add to packs of sugar to get any real taste out of it. Then they brought the bread with little wrapped up pieces of butter. And it was ice cold and hard as a rock. Who wants ice cold butter than you can't even spread on the bread? Not happy about that. Next, we had a choice between soup or salad so I opted for the gumbo. Mistake. It was served in this tiny little cup with a mound of rice on top. I scooped all the rice off and stirred it up. It was more than half rice already in the gumbo. Other than some sort of heat in it, it was flat and tasteless. I ate a couple of bites. All I could muster. Next, they brought my pecan crusted white fish drizzled with the raspberry sauce, mashed potatoes and a mixture of yellow squash and zucchini. The potatoes were lukewarm and absolutely no flavor. Nothing. I couldn't even melt the cold, hard butter in them. Salt and pepper only helped a little. The veggies were also Non existent of any seasoning. Nothing. Flat. Fish was the only thing edible on that plate. My friend ordered the prime rib with a salad and they did not offer French dressing so he opted for the thousand island. The portion was huge and they brought a tiny little cup of dressing and he had to ask For another one. He said the salad was good. He also got mashed potatoes and the same veggies. No remember, this was a private event so we couldn't order any other sides. His potatoes were also lukewarm and he had the same problem with his vegetables. No taste. Flat. His prime rib was good he said and had lots of fat which when he was done, there was a huge pile left along with most of his potatoes and all of his vegetables. Now this was the first time either of us had eaten there as this was a 60 mile round trip to attend this event. I brought all my potatoes and veggies home, what I didn't eat of the gumbo, and half the fish. I added some salt, garlic and smoked paprika to the gumbo, warmed it up and it was edible but I've never had gumbo anywhere that was so flat tasting. It's gumbo! It's supposed to be good right from the git go. I added butter, a little salt and pepper to the mashed potatoes and now they tasted better. As for the vegetables, a drizzle of olive oil, a touch of salt, pepper and a sprinkle of garlic powder and they were edible. So, we won't be back. Had I paid the roughly $60 for that meal, I would have sent it all back and gotten something else save the fish. The only highlight of the whole meal. Now, we get to go containers, and lo and behold , they bring out styrofoam. For a supposed upscale restaurant, this was just terrible. Even fast food has done away with styrofoam! No styrofoam please! For the prices they charge, they should have the nice aluminum type containers with the top that you can crimp in the top. Do better! Styrofoam is too low class, bad for our environment and cheap looking for a "nice" restaurant. Get with it and upgrade your style! read more

I attended a private event here for the first time, and it is such an adorable spot. Right in the heart of downtown, the holiday décor makes it feel straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie. I ordered the pecan-encrusted whitefish with a raspberry bordelaise, along with sweet potato fries and parmesan spinach. I know you're probably thinking: raspberry on fish sounds questionable....but it was a pleasant surprise. The sauce added just the right touch of sweetness, and I can absolutely see why this is such a popular dish. I grabbed dessert to go and tried both the turtle cheesecake, which was rich and indulgent, and the crème brûlée, which was perfectly creamy. Once again Mike's Place for the win! Took our 15 year old to watch UCA volleyball and she requested a steak for dinner cuz she was hungry! So the wife and I took her to Mike's. Shrimp Brantley was a good first course appetizer! Avery and I just had to deal with not eating the french bread! My wife on the other hand are the bread in front of us after letting it soak up all that buttery goodness.... Just plain rude. Side salad was perfect as usual. Crawfish bisque was amazing! I could eat a gallon of that stuff. Avery had never had it before, and cleaned her cup. Prime rib came out looking a little over cooked so I was worried. I took the knife and made the first cut and was excited to see it wasn't! Perfect medium and so juicy! Both avery and I tore into our steaks, the wife ordered her standard filet and it was absolutely perfect! Avery tried to sneak a few bites of it! Took the photo a little late because the shrimp was so good I couldn't stop eating it. We got the spinach dip and shrimp and cheese fritters as appetizers and I highly recommend both as they were phenomenal. The bread they bring out is also incredible. The service was so good and each course was brought out at the perfect time. Additionally I don't think my drink ever reached the bottom of the glass before they were around to refill it. It's a very nice restaurant but not pretentious type of nice which also made the experience great. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area! Finally made it to Mike's Place after hearing so many positive reviews from friends. We had the best time sitting at the bar and talking football with Ken. What a great guy! The lemon drop martini was the perfectly blended and the beer cold. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. We ate from the lunch menu and had the steak burger and the prime rib sandwich with the au jus. The burger was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The prime rib and au jus was phenomenal. All those "Best of..." awards on the walls are well deserved. We enjoyed everything we tried (three kinds of the shrimp and the sweet potato fries w praline sauce on the side were amazing), incredibly attentive and helpful service, and we got just the cozy booth we were hoping for - but there were so many seating options that this place would work for pretty much any occasion. Beware anyone wanting to eat here on prom night or any formal night, as they will charge 20% gratuity regardless of your party's number. My son and his friends went all dressed up, they did NOT go to prom, and had a waitress that they have had before, and she was rude, both times. They then got their bill with gratuity added. When they asked to talk to a manager about it, they said this was their standard policy for prom goers. My husband called later in the evening to complain about the waitress and that they charged gratuity anyway. The manager was somewhat rude. I asked why they did not at least refund the gratuity and basically blew us off. After calling to complain, I then find out that as my son and his friends were leaving, the owner walked by them, making a rude comment, and that basically "they would not be back".They need to learn what customer service is. I will not eat there again and will tell all my friends about this experience. read more

Absolutely fantastic! We could tell just by the smell walking in the door- and the many local awards on the wall- we knew we were in for a treat!! Very accomodating- waitstaff was very attentive. Food was delicious. (I can personally recommend, very highly, the coconut shrimp!! Yum!!) And we had to try the fried green tomato appetizer, which was very tasty. Loved the ambiance. As a result of our hobby we have naturally become more and more critical of restaurant food. These pork chops were tender, moist and cooked perfectly. The flavor was great! I would order them again! I called way in advance to make a reservation for 14 people for a Saturday night in late February. They told me they could not take reservations that large on a weekend night, but that I could still bring everyone and show up early to get on the waitlist. I called the Thursday beforehand again just to make sure that they didn't need my entire party there at the time of getting on the waitlist so that I could just go myself early because I had people driving from over an hour away in all different directions. The guy on the phone said I did not need my entire party there, that I could just come and tell them I had 14 coming and I could be put on the waitlist. I showed up on Saturday late afternoon about an hour and a half before everyone was supposed to meet us there and they tell me that they can't accommodate us and we can't get on the waitlist even for an hour and a half later, that they weren't taking any parties over four people. I explained that I had called two separate times and was assured that there would be no issues, and they were not willing to remedy the situation. Took 7 minutes to even be greeted by our waitress to order drinks and that's the 2nd time in as many visits this has happened. Steaks are lackluster for claiming to be a steak house more or less. At the most basic level you should salt your steaks well enough and they have always been lacking in this regard. Sides and shrimp are subpar and so is the pasta. Went to Mike's a year ago when we brought my granddaughter to Hendrix everything then was EXCELLENT. Not so much a week ago. I had shrimp scampi it had no flavor no hint of garlic very little butter and the shrimp were very small. My daughter had chicken entree again portion was small compared to last year.
