We decided to try this out on a road trip to Mammoth Springs. It was a little hard to find because it is in a "truck Stop" but we found it I got the French Dip it was legitimate reminded me of a Chicago Italian Beef. The beef was tasty and the au Ju was wonderful. My wife got the senior Hot Dog. It was only 5 bucks so I didn't think much ... what came out was a grilled 1/4 lb dog and it was cooked to perfection. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. We came in for an early dinner. We were seated quickly. Unfortunately, it took over an hour to get our food. Our waiter kept forgetting water and other things even though we asked multiple times. The food portions were small. The sides seem to be just bulk pre-packaged ready made and then scooped. Mac and cheese wasn't hot, fries were soggy. We didn't even finish everything. We'd been here once before for breakfast and had a better experience. Even then though, the butter on the table wasn't real butter and the syrup wasn't real syrup. I don't expect high end dining from a place like this, but at least real, home made food would be nice. If I wanted heat and eat, I'd stop by Walmart or a standard gas station. read more

Many people will pass on by or turn away from a place that isn't fancy looking, or just because of how it looks on the outside. However, the wise and folks that love to explore, will insist on experiencing what's most important--the food, service and atmosphere. Hands down, this place prepared one of the best tasting and presentable steaks I've ever had! It was seared with perfection, tender and melted in my mouth with flavorful juices. The service was amazing! Services was amazing because they were being themselves and moving with a sense of urgency. They weren't trying to put on "a show of perfection". Constant communication amongst themselves and with customers. That feeling you find in a happy, warm and family oriented place usually called home. No fancy name needed to the restaurant, or corporate owned image that chain restaurants have. Just a restaurant conjoined to a convenience store/gas station, that can easily put to shame big name restaurants. I've tried the one in Thayer Missouri six times in four years, one good meal. The other day I ordered a burger and fries, after waiting for twenty minutes I went to the window for to go orders and stood there while my food was on the counter getting cold, a young lady was ignoring me and finally opened the window and said " I'm not on the clock" When I finally got the food I opened it in my car and the fries were crunchy and cold and it was the worst burger I've had, I'll never go back. read more

Stopped in for breakfast Sunday morning. I had the chicken fried steak and my mother had the ham & cheese omelet. The amount of food that came with these items was amazing! Toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, hash browns...we had to get a to go box and had plenty for Monday! All of the food was amazing! Some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant, and it was served within minutes of placing the order. Staff was very helpful arranging seating for my mother who is in a wheelchair. 4 stars are for the nice updates done to the interior of restaurant and the menu options available. They did a nice job renovating the interior making it clean and welcoming with a wide variety menu options available and a friendly attentive staff. Husband wanted nachos so we ordered the Pulled Pork Nachos and they were a disappointment, chips were stale, pork was mushy, bbq sauce was to sweet for our liking so I definitely don't recommend them. Burgers looked good as did the fried chicken so next time in area will try something different. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the Thayer/Mammoth Spring area. The loaded chicken breast are fantastic! Their steaks are always grilled exactly to order. They also have flavors that can be added to their sweet teas, I get the raspberry vanilla. I stop here everytime I'm in the area. Service is always tremendous. read more

They make the best Bestro Salad. I like it with the grilled chicken. It is big and loaded with nuts and fruit and a great sweet sesame seed dressing. I can never eat all of it. They are always friendly but yes, you usually have to ask about dessert. They have the homemade ice cream that is made locally. Great stuff read more

Hubby had a breakfast platter with 3 eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, biscuits n gravy. He ate every bite. I had eggs Benedict---one of the best I've ever had! The restaurant is very cute. Looks to have been remodeled recently. Very clean looking. Restrooms were very nice--/and clean. Servers were friendly, and kept the coffee coming. Well...well...well...I grew up here, joined usaf, moved away, come back to visit here and there, over the last 28 years and this time we stumble onto the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. That is saying something, because I have had a lot. Everything else was pretty good as well. Nice, thick bacon was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Sausage had a good taste and the eggs were just the right amount of over medium. The wifey ordered the French toast with bacon and side of fried potatoes. She enjoyed all and the fried potatoes were not quite what she was expecting. She loves Pan fried potatoes and these were more deep fried. She did say she'd come back which is a good thing since she started eating my biscuits and gravy and pancakes. I hope the locals appreciate what they have in this gem. read more

Found myself at this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon because there were not many options in the area. We drove down from Alton on a stranger's recommendation. It was exactly what we were looking for, comfort food. I had the chicken fried chicken, okra and mash potatoes. My buddy had the grilled pork chop. Said it was the best pork chop he had ever had. It sure did look good. They will definitely been on the plan for my next visit to the area. The young man that waited on us got everything right and he was prompt. If I can give him any advice it would be: If you see two fat old men at your table be sure to ask them which dessert they want. He did not so we did not get a dessert (not like we need one). Everyone out!" My adult child & grandchildren were in there when she said she had to wash hands but he still tried to usher them out. We came down here to raft and fish on the Eleven Point River, and were looking for a place to have dinner. There were 7 of us, and it was getting late--lots of restaurants in the area, but many close 8pm or so. Service here was exceptional, the food was excellent, with a varied menu that allowed everyone to have something they really liked.
