I like to support local, small businesses, and this is a great example. It is run by a small staff who are so nice for call-in orders and drop-ins for takeout. I injured my foot recently and seeing my limp, they offered to bring the bag to my car. This is a first for me, but they even commented that a tip was not necessary for take out. Even though they took my last minute order and kept the place open later than usual for pick up. About the food. I haven't ordered a wide variety of items from here, because I keep going back to the same dishes. They make a great hot and sour soup, with perfect balance of both hot and sour. I also enjoy the Kung pao chicken. It is flavorful and the sauce tastes like a gravy - not too spicy, oily or salty. I really enjoy it. They also agreed to slight modifications - no peanuts, etc. Everything is made to order and fresh. I am happy they survived the pandemic and will continue to support them. read more

I know it's not the most beautiful upkept restaurant bit it's certainly a great ma and pop place. The food is made fresh on thee spot, all there dishes are great and not heavy, because i get an upset stomach when i eat at fast food restaurants, who still does that anyway. the kun pow here is my favorite. The owner will come and chill and have a conversation while our food is being prepared. Please come by and support these good ol folks. A small, hidden, modest gem, that deserves much attention! I have been ordering take out from this restaurant for the past couple of months and I have yet to be disappointed. Made to order. On the way, and in a rush, to see a jazz concert at the nearby University, I had to get a quick bite before the show started. Luckily, my Siri suggestions guided me to Bamboo Garden in Alhambra. My partner and myself ordered the chicken and vegetables and, a spicy eggplant dish. It was quite tasty and, although we were in a hurry, stayed long enough to completely finish off both plates. To top off the dinner, the very charming server was very friendly and left us both smiling when we departed. Hopefully, next time I'm passing through this part of the city I'll have the opportunity to stop in for a bite. Love this place. I've had their Kung Pao Chicken, Beef Chow Fun, and Mongolian Beef. My favorite is definitely split between Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Chicken. But, Mongolian Beef is slightly higher on the list. The Mongolian Beef is soft and so full of flavor. The Kung Pao Chicken is also soft and full of flavor. Beef Chow Fun is good but not my favorite dish there. The location is close to a gas station with a few different restaurants in the plaza. I hadn't been to this place in years because I no longer live in the area. But I was nearby so I decided to try it again. My initial experience was great. I ordered over the phone and the man helping me was very nice and patient with me since I didn't know the menu. When I arrived to pick up the order, I was greeted warmly and they offered me a seat while I waited. He was going to put the food in a box but when I declined, he showed genuine concern that, even if bagged, the sauce might spill in the car, so he accompanied me to the car to make sure it was place correctly so it wouldn't leak. When I took it home, everyone was very happy with the quality of the food. It was so tasty. Highly recommend. (Also, there was another comment on here that the online prices are much lower than in person. I believe they were looking at pictures of menus that are obviously out of date. I finally decided to give it a shot and ordered take out today. I'm so happy I did because the food was bomb! I ordered the beef and broccoli dinner plate which included fried rice and soup of the day (egg flour soup). My gf ordered the wonton soup which included shrimp, chicken and was piping hot even with the travel home. Reasonable prices too. The beef and broccoli was so flavorful, tender and had lots of garlic. The fried rice was everything... the flavor. Didn't try the wonton soup but my gf said it was good. I completely forgot the name of what I ordered, but I got a plate of Fried Rice and another of Chow Mein, and both were amazing. I tried them for the first time one night and was really impressed. Even though I was a last-minute customer and felt a bit bad about it, they were incredibly nice and accommodating. Everything was good, the food I got was bursting with bold flavors. Dated. Restrooms had mops and buckets in the corner. Not super-clean. The price; dirt cheap, but smallish portions for lunch. Though in America, not a bad thing. We're all fat. Very 1980s. $10.00 minimum purchase to use a card. This place is near my Grad school and I like their chicken chow mein tho I live near many Chinese restaurants. I probably have been coming here at least once a month Sometimes more for years. I usually get the same order to go which costs around $12.00. Today I decided to eat in and try something from the lunch special menu. Sweet and sour chicken. It was so much batter and the chicken inside was tiny, it had no flavor really, but it wasn't terriblE so I ate it and went to pay and leave and handed my card and the dude that helps me all the time said "you don't have cash" then I remembered that awkward policy and said no sorry I forgot. The guy just stared at me, like I was going to magically come up with $8.70 cash. So I said, I come here all the time can't you wave it. His response looking me dead in the eye was "its the bank" I said no it's not, banks don't care how much you charge. He lied. If you are going to do business you have to absorb some of the costs to get money from Customers, including credit card fees. Just the nature of doing business. I gave him a $2.30 tip to make the bill exactly $10.00, yes I'm that petty. You lost a regular customer. read more
