A friend who lives in Santa Fe recommended this restaurant for us to try since it was near the hotel we were staying at a week or so ago. My son and I were in town for a funeral and were glad we got to try Bamboo. We were able to walk in for lunch on a Saturday and get a table quickly. The service was great. The place was nicely decorated and clean. My son ordered a beef banh mi and they accidentally brought us a tofu one, but they quickly brought us a beef one and let us take that one to go. Since we were heading to a funeral and didn't have access to a fridge for a while, they were kind enough to store our leftovers for us so we could pick them afterwards. We really enjoyed the protein platter, lime juice (so refreshing), spring rolls, and the banh mi sandwich. Highly recommend going to Bamboo if you are in the area!

Good morning, fans! We can put the Super Bowl behind us and get back to some serious eating in Central New Mexico. Where? Let us recommend our newest (to us) great establishment, Bamboo by Kulantro. Conveniently located in a strip mall near Menaul and Louisiana, NW, this Asian fusion restaurant is a cut above the rest. Food? Out of the world. The best meats you can find in this type of establishment - hefty chunks of beef, pork, and chicken, skewed and barbequed to perfection. Fresh vegetables without kale. Friendly service from family members. Ample parking and seating indoors in a pleasant atmosphere. The good news is that they have another location in the Sawmill and another in the Uptown area. Same food, but the location on Menaul will shift its function to food preparation. The staff advised us that the Uptown location will be better suited to serve guests. Menaul will still serve diners, but with a limited menu. This place is great and has our highest possible recommendations. Why? Bamboo by Kulantro peaked my interest after reading great reviews about it at Sawmill. We arrived after peak lunch hours. We were the only customers and were helped while the staff ate lunch (very authentic). Our server was very sweet and prompt. We ordered so much food bc we wanted to try everything! We ordered Tofu Spring Rolls ($7.50), Crispy Egg Rolls ($7.50), Kulantro Pho (~$18), Bun Bo Hue ($14.50), and a Chicken Banh Mi ($7.50). Everything came in a timely manner. We had the appetizers first. The dipping sauces for the appetizers were amazing. I personally liked the Crispy Egg Rolls more than the Spring Rolls (didn't have herbs, just Spring mix and noodles). The presentations were lovely though. We didn't touch the Banh Mi and saved it for later once the soups arrived. I was so excited bc my Bun Bo Hue had all of the Vietnamese Style fixings, down to the pork blood and bologna. The flavor was so good, I couldn't stop eating it. Their sides of herbs and purple cabbage was the perfect pairing. BIL said he liked his Pho, but wish it was more savory. He liked my soup and said he'd get mine next time. I took my leftovers To-Go and it filled up the entire 32oz container! I think it was definitely worth it! Overall, first impression I thought it had a clean and nice ambiance, but the prices were a bit steep, especially bc there was only 1 size for everything. But the portions seem reasonable or generous. It could also be bc of its location near Coronado Mall. I definitely recommend getting the Bun Bo Hue Vietnamese Style (Spicy Lemongrass Beef Soup). It's not too spicy and it's delicious. Side Note: The Chicken Banh Mi had a lot of flavor and was delicious.

Great value with large proportion. Highly recommend the protein plater, very tasty. The only reason that I don't give five star is that some of the beef tendons in the pho were too hard to chew.

Still one of my favorite eateries when I'm in Albuquerque. Solid food, very good value, simple environment. No frills just great food! Service is fast and efficient as usual

The menu - The menu from Bamboo by Kulantro is printed on a white sheet of paper placed on a wooden table. It lists various Vietnamese dishes including spring rolls, egg rolls, skewers, protein platter, bamboo bowl, bun bo hue, noodle bowl, simple pho, banh mi, rice super bowl, and vegan pho. Each item includes a description and price, with options for gluten-free and vegan modifications. The menu also features social media icons and a small illustration of a bowl of noodles with chopsticks and a lime.

Somehow I just remember this place being better. I mean the food is prepared well. I ate a protein plate. I'm just going to say that you need to have a lot of patience to eat in here. You'll probably have a better experience ordering to go. I have come twice recently to make sure that it was just like an off day.... It wasn't just have patience.

Very nice staff, filling and comforting food, and a really nice time overall! Super authentic food. Area could be better. Didn't feel that safe walking around out there. The restaurant was low-key + chill.

Delicious! If you like Kulantro in Sawmill you will like this place. We actually preferred this place because it is quieter than Sawmill. Great food, kind and attentive staff, and can't wait to go again.

#2 with Grilled Chicken - A plate contains grilled meats on skewers, topped with fried shallots and chopped green onions, served alongside rice noodles, shredded carrots, purple cabbage, and sliced cucumbers. The presentation includes a variety of fresh vegetables and cooked meats, typical of Vietnamese cuisine.

Yummy!! Not all Vietnamese restaurants are alike and this one IS different!! The interiors are simple, modern, attractive and tables weren't cramped together like many now days. But it's the food and presentation that makes them different. We both got the #2 but with different grilled meats on skewers. One w Chicken and the other Pork. The presentation was wonderful served in big serving bowls. The flavors were really delicious and each came with a crispy egg roll on top. The #2 was $15.99 so not bad for such a nice dinner and big bowl presentation. The service was very good and polite. We got there at 6:15 and we were the only table then 2 other groups came in for dinner time. Yes, We will definitely be back to try other dishes. And I do recommend the #2. Next time it's Pho! ;)

Kulantro Pho - A large white bowl contains Vietnamese pho with slices of beef, meatballs, and chopped green onions on top. The broth is clear and filled with rice noodles. Fresh herbs and seasonings are visible, and a white spoon rests inside the bowl. The dish is served on a wooden table, with small side dishes and condiments in the background.

They offer tons of condiments and ice cream for desert. I've also ordered this as delivery which I thought was impossible. But they make it work. You order your broth (single flavor uless you get two orders of broth). You also order your ingredients and whatevder sides you want. I usually get beef, pork and meatballs. Rather than cooking yourself they come cooked in a container with a little brother and you add them at your leisure. I usually get the spicy chicken nuggets as a side and they are delicious. It's a huge portion of food and I almost always have leftovers. Great place!

This place is vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free friendly. The portion size is very large. The sauces on the sauce bar are delicious. I really enjoyed being able to mix them in just the ways I chose, that most were vegetarian and vegan, and deciding just what I wanted to eat- which broth, which vegetables and tofu. There is also green onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and such at the sauce bar. There are many options available. The fried mushroom appetizer was good too. Great for a group or date night. The cucumber kimchi ($3) looked a little different than traditional cucumber kimchi, but still tasty and spicy.
