After sitting on the I-40 for two hours so officials could clear three separate wrecks (*sigh* yes for real), I was all the things: parched, bladder bloated (lol, sorry), but most of all hangry. I called to place an order through "Bamboo by Kulantro" with a very friendly staff member. He was just as friendly when I picked up my takeout on November 25, 2025. My "takeaway" entree was the Bamboo Bowl ($18.12 with a card). It entailed "vermicelli noodles, spring mix, crispy garnish, peanuts, house sauce, crispy egg roll cut up into pieces, two grilled shrimp, and my choice of protein: grilled beef. While there was an enormous amount of vermicelli noodles which I could not finish, the rest of the entree had great portions of the rest. My dog even enjoyed much of the beef I offered her. (I washed the spice off.) If you have gluten, peanut allergy, vegan preferences, etc. - those requests can be honored. Inside, the restaurant was no frills, but a mostly quiet, clean environment. I'm pretty impressed at the quality and quantity of pho that you get here. I'm from Cali so I'm pretty picky with my pho and this place didn't disappoint! Pho was delicious, flavorful, great pho taste. Good portions and they give you plenty of meat. The accompaniments were fresh. Service is good, a bit slow but it's ok might just have limited workers. A friend who lives in Santa Fe recommended this restaurant for us to try since it was near the hotel we were staying at a week or so ago. My son and I were in town for a funeral and were glad we got to try Bamboo. We were able to walk in for lunch on a Saturday and get a table quickly. The service was great. The place was nicely decorated and clean. My son ordered a beef banh mi and they accidentally brought us a tofu one, but they quickly brought us a beef one and let us take that one to go. Since we were heading to a funeral and didn't have access to a fridge for a while, they were kind enough to store our leftovers for us so we could pick them afterwards. We really enjoyed the protein platter, lime juice (so refreshing), spring rolls, and the banh mi sandwich. Highly recommend going to Bamboo if you are in the area! read more

Conveniently located in a strip mall near Menaul and Louisiana, NW, this Asian fusion restaurant is a cut above the rest. Food? Out of the world. The best meats you can find in this type of establishment - hefty chunks of beef, pork, and chicken, skewed and barbequed to perfection. Fresh vegetables without kale. Friendly service from family members. Ample parking and seating indoors in a pleasant atmosphere. The good news is that they have another location in the Sawmill and another in the Uptown area. Same food, but the location on Menaul will shift its function to food preparation. The staff advised us that the Uptown location will be better suited to serve guests. Bamboo by Kulantro peaked my interest after reading great reviews about it at Sawmill. We arrived after peak lunch hours. We were the only customers and were helped while the staff ate lunch (very authentic). Our server was very sweet and prompt. We ordered so much food bc we wanted to try everything! We ordered Tofu Spring Rolls ($7.50), Crispy Egg Rolls ($7.50), Kulantro Pho (~$18), Bun Bo Hue ($14.50), and a Chicken Banh Mi ($7.50). Everything came in a timely manner. We had the appetizers first. The dipping sauces for the appetizers were amazing. I personally liked the Crispy Egg Rolls more than the Spring Rolls (didn't have herbs, just Spring mix and noodles). The presentations were lovely though. We didn't touch the Banh Mi and saved it for later once the soups arrived. I was so excited bc my Bun Bo Hue had all of the Vietnamese Style fixings, down to the pork blood and bologna. The flavor was so good, I couldn't stop eating it. Their sides of herbs and purple cabbage was the perfect pairing. BIL said he liked his Pho, but wish it was more savory. He liked my soup and said he'd get mine next time. I took my leftovers To-Go and it filled up the entire 32oz container! I think it was definitely worth it! Overall, first impression I thought it had a clean and nice ambiance, but the prices were a bit steep, especially bc there was only 1 size for everything. But the portions seem reasonable or generous. It could also be bc of its location near Coronado Mall. I definitely recommend getting the Bun Bo Hue Vietnamese Style (Spicy Lemongrass Beef Soup). Yummy!! Not all Vietnamese restaurants are alike and this one IS different!! The interiors are simple, modern, attractive and tables weren't cramped together like many now days. But it's the food and presentation that makes them different. We both got the #2 but with different grilled meats on skewers. One w Chicken and the other Pork. The presentation was wonderful served in big serving bowls. The flavors were really delicious and each came with a crispy egg roll on top. The #2 was $15.99 so not bad for such a nice dinner and big bowl presentation. The service was very good and polite. My husband and I decided to try Bamboo because of the beautiful photos on their website. Since we are Asian, we are very judgemental. We arrived close to the dinner hour, and were not alone in the dining room, two other tables were finishing their orders. We ordered a noodle dish and a grilled pork dish. Both were absolutely mediocre, and the pork on the skewer was mostly gristle, which should not have been served at all. I got the impression that they were barely able to survive, and assumed they could fool stupid Americans. Bamboo restaurant is definitely not on our list. read more

Very simple and clean decor with plenty of seating. My partner and I went here during the week after the lunch rush and the service was a little bit slow. The single staff member we had interactions with was very kind and professional and gave us some good recommendations. I decided to get the crispy egg noodle with seafood combination and an order of pork/shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were huge and stuffed pack. It can with peanut sauce. We went their today, expecting to enjoy a few of the wonderful menu items we saw online, and was very disappointed. The current menu is very limited, and when we inquired, were told the menus online were discontinued over two years ago. They made no apology for this gross error, and while the food was OK, it was nothing like we expected to find. When we impressed upon them the need to update their website menus, they nodded but seemed to have no understanding of this importance. Do not go there expecting to find anything you see online. Another local staple lost... My family has been enjoying a good bowl of Pho here for years. Through the various owners and names we kept coming back. Quality has taken a turn since Bamboo by Kulantro has taken over. The dining area is never filled like it used to be. Often tables left in disarray and no real investment in the ambience. The biggest problem is getting your order. Bamboo has adopted an abbreviated menu, random closures and inconsistent hours. It would seem Kulantro is more invested in the Sawmill location since I saw some quality dishes at that location. read more

It was our first time here. Just finished shopping at Coronado Mall and decided to head out for some other cuisine other than what they had at the mall. Decided to look up on Yelp what Asian cuisine was around the area. We were able to find this place. It's easy to miss if you're not looking out for the sign outside the restaurant. We wanted to make sure it was somewhere that we can dine at and not have to order and take home.  Walked into the dinning area and was greeted by the waiter. He sat us right as we came in. There were not that many people there. I think because it was during the last couple of hours of their lunch time. Beautiful and spacious dining area. They even offer outdoor patio dining, But we decided to stick to the inside of the restaurant. The menu had a wide variety of items. It was hard to decide what to get. We opted to try the grilled shrimp spring rolls. I must say these were pretty delicious. The shrimp was grilled, so it was definitely a different flavor than your usual shrimp rolls that are served cold. It had great flavor and I think the grilled shrimp gave it a whole new depth that was very pleasing to the palate.  Next up, for the entrees I opted for the regular sized chicken phó. Chicken breast pieces, served with all the fixings for phó. The broth was perfectly seasoned. Not too salty like most places. The only thing was that the chicken pieces were a little over cooked and while it sat in the broth it was too hard to chew. But I'm not letting that stop me from giving a good review. Because the Yellow Curry with chicken and served with rice was absolutely divine. This was definitely the comfort food that we were looking for. Everything was so filling.  We enjoyed dining here and we sure will come back when we're in the area again. Next time, we'd like to try the bao buns for our appetizer. And maybe try another noodle dish. read more

We both got the "simple Pho" with double rare beef. The garnish was super fresh and the meat was tender + fresh as well. Fabulous portions and prices! We also got chicken spring rolls and they were HUGE - never had such jam packed spring rolls; they looked like burritos!
