It is a small place where you order at the counter and they bring you the food to your table. My son and wife had their BBQ Chicken Special $12.99 and I had their Spicy Tofu Special $13.99. Usually in most restaurants, tofu is cheaper or the same price as the chicken platters. The specials come with steamed rice or Japchae (noodles), pot stickers or vegetable egg rolls. I have loved Asian pear for years now because it's consistent, clean and quick. Always friendly service and quick in and out. I usually order to-go because it's a very tight space to sit and enjoy it but regardless the food is always delicious and fresh. Asian pair is a really great option to stop in for a quick lunch. They have a variety of things to try including a few different Korean dishes. This is my second time stopping by and I will say this time the service was better in comparison to the last time a couple years ago. They were quick, but I did come at a weird time and not during the lunch rush. I did notice a few people had called ahead and that probably helped. I got one of the meal deals that came with meat and carbs as well as veggies and it's really just a good amount of food. You could easily make two meals out of it. I appreciate that everything is cheap and the service workers are incredibly nice, but unfortunately this was not Korean food. - Kimchi Pancake - After I ate their complimentary kimchi which was basically fresh napa cabbage soaked in this spicy sauce, I knew that this pancake would not be very authentic. Because the kimchi wasn't great, the pancake didn't have a lot of kimchi flavor. Also there wasn't enough kimchi or lettuce in the pancake, it was mostly just dough. I do think that the pancake was fried to perfection though and I did appreciate the sauce. - Combo Special (BBQ Chicken & Beef) - Was not particularly impressed with the bowl. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was kind of packed, but it's because they have very limited seating because the font end is small. Everyone was nice and the service good. Let's talk food... I had the Korean beef special with pot stickers and half rice and half JapChea. The beef was tasty, the pot stickers were tiny and tasted average, and the JapChea was a little dry for my taste. But with all that being said, it was still good. I threw some sauce on the JapChea and it solved the issue. My girlfriend got the spicy tofu bowl and she was all about it and she was a fan of the JapChea. The kimchi pancake was good when dipped in the spicy sauce that accompanied it. Otherwise it was really thick batter, which was a little cakey for my preference. Make sure you get extra sauce because the one serving of sauce is not enough for the portion size. Someone else who was dining in had to get a to-go box for their leftovers. The beef gimbob was fine, it wasn't bad, and it wasn't the best. But I ordered the beef special, so maybe it was too much beef for that day. The only downside was the cabbage kimchi that they served on the side which had no flavor. It tasted like raw cabbage. My girlfriend thought the same thing. I came here on Friday, July 22, 2022, with my sister and mother. The Asian Pear is located in a strip mall close to the Stone Face Tavern. There are five or six tables to eat inside, but most of their business is "to go". We ate inside, in celebration of my belated birthday. Mrs. Kim, who is the Korean hostess/owner/cashier, was extremely nice to us. She suggested food to try and even let us split the check. I ordered the combo bowl ($9.98), with bbq chicken, spicy pork, glass noodles, steamed rice, green onions, lettuce, and sesame seeds. We ordered a side of shrimp eggrolls ($1.98 each). My bowl had very fresh ingredients and I truly preferred the chicken to the pork. Shrimp eggrolls contained giant shrimp and a very crispy outer shell. While eating our food, Mrs. Kim brought out more for us to sample. She insisted we try her chicken potstickers, vegetable eggrolls and Korean vegetable pancake. All of these had light and delicious flavors and my favorite, besides my bowl, was the Korean pancake. That combination of vegetables with the dipping sauce really hit the spot. Thank you so much, Mrs. Kim, for letting us sample your delicious dishes! Needless to say, we left this unassuming restaurant really full. I had to take some of the food home to my wife, and she loved it. If you like fresh, delicious Korean food, delivered with a smile, in large quantities visit the Asian Pear. A large menu is printed on the wall next to the counter cashier and has a small but tasty selection for Korean food. They have a take out service, and small counter, and a few tables that stay filled. As soon as you are done, they swiftly swoop in, clean it, and it's ready again. The tables are full and we'll turned over because the food is that good! Our Korean vegetable pancake was full of flavor, crispy and even the next day, microwaved were just as tasty! My table mates polished off their combo plates and said it was some of the best Korean food they have tasted in ABQ! For Albuquerque, this is an above average place. That's why I couldn't bring myself to giving it a true 3 star rating. I ordered the beef plate, and aspects of it are quite good, with the tempura, teriyaki sauce, and salad being fine. The actual beef, unfortunately, isn't a true Bulgogi typically found at a Korean restaurant. Little saturated flavor. Little taste. It's more like smoked or fried beef without any discernible barbecue taste. Disappointing. The Kim chi was below par and tiny in size, the portion. It frankly wasn't right. Odd and confusing menu. Mixed signals. Spanish music, Spanish translation on the door. Spanish speaking employees. It doesn't feel like a Korean restaurant. It feels like a Mexican restaurant with a Korean menu. I would rate it a 3.6 if I could. For Korean, despite the inconvenient trek to the west side and the appalling cottonwood tree shedding allergic nightmare present, K-style offers a vastly superior Bulgogi, far more, and better flavor, with sides that are superior. Great location and pricing. But the bulgogi, the staple of Korean barbecue restaurants, lacks flavor. read more

What else would I be getting from here other than the Kimchi Pancake! I liked that there were plenty of parking spots in front of the shop...so it was kind of no hassle/worries when it comes to finding a decent parking spot for your car. I also appreciated that even I ordered the pancake as a full meal itself, they still also give me extra pieces of those pancakes (like what any other customers would get, too). Upon leaving, the owner seemed to care about her customers (while eating, I saw she recognized and chatted with some of her more regular customers, too). She asked me how the food was to make sure I was satisfied with her food (and I did!!). I felt like this place is good, just not necessarily to my taste. I really liked the vegetable pancakes- they were flavorful, rich, and had a delicious dipping sauce. My combo platter was a bit hit and mess for me personally . The beef was flavorful but the pork was pretty bland. The noodles were delicious but the rice was underwhelming. The Thai tea was tasty but left an almost chalky taste in my mouth. I have a lot of friends that love this place and I've heard so many good things but I just left feeling like "meh" .
