We came here looking for good Korean food but was quickly disappointed by the storefront mentioning "ramen, poke, and grill". We decided to still try it out since we were pretty hungry. Xuan Asian is a clean little shop with some indoor seating and a front counter to order. We were seated immediately and served our waters. Menu doesn't seem like they had any Korean food; mainly Japanese. We got the Black Tonkotsu ramen and Combo Seafood Tempura bento box. Food came out pretty quick. I was blown away by how aromatic the garlic in the ramen was. -0.5 points for not having any black truffle oil though. Overall ramen is some of the best I've had in Abq. Bento box was a pretty large portion with tempura being super light and crispy. Yum! I'm very impressed with the quality of food and can't wait to try out the rest of their menu! read more

The service is attentive and friendly and I love when they watch your cues. I have wanted try this place for a while now. Very glad I did! A cute little restaurant tucked in a strip mall. Everything was clean, bright and cheerful with litter asian accents. We started with the Baked New Zealand Mussels and Chciken Karaage. The mussels were excellent! Lots of crab meat and d amazing flavor. The chicken was very good but not a lot of flavor on their own. The special mayo sauce made them pop. For lunch my friend had the chicken teriyaki bento box and I had the Japanese fried chicken bento box. The portions were very generous with tempura shrimp and vegetables and your choice of rice with a small charge to upgrade from white rice. The teriyaki chicken was delicious! The temperature was very good. I was a little disappointed with the fried chicken as it was just more of the same chicken as the appetizer we just ate. All the food was served hot and quickly. I haven't eaten at Xuan Asian for a few years and I'm glad to see that their food is as good as ever. I got a JFC (Japanese fried chicken) bento box filled with generous portions of delicious chicken pieces, shrimp and vegetable tempura, steamed rice, and salad with a fantastic ginger dressing, plus a small bowl of miso and tofu soup as a starter. I came to Xuan Asian for the first time. I ordered the vegetable tempura and the Veggie Paradise Ramen ordered spicy. The food tasted alright but there was little variety in the tempura vegetables. As I was eating, Their food delivery was taking place and I was dismayed to see that they use boxed ramen soup bases, several different flavors! They may taste alright but this is cheating in my opinion! Where can I go in this town to find ramen broth that is not only good but made from scratch? WOW. i was traveling and found this place online. it's a small little shop w very limited seating. the service was a bit slow and it took a while for everyone to receive their food. but once it came out, it was hot and fresh and so tasty! the staff was gracious and hospitable. it definitely gets busy here and for good reason. the portions of food are GENEROUS. and the ramen is amazing. i had the volcano tonkatsu and it's got the perfect kick w super soft noodles and pork belly that melts in your mouth. the broth is beautifully done. i'm from california and get ramen pretty consistently and this place would easily run other businesses out over there because of how delicious the food is. i seriously recommend if you're a patient person. because the food is so worth the wait. it will definitely become a stop for me every time i travel. read more

Out of all the ramen around town, this one is by far my favorite. My boyfriend usually goes in to pickup the food so I've never been inside and can't speak for the restaurant itself. The pieces of pork in the ramen are actual thick tasty cuts of meat. Very filling and very delicious. Great for the price you pay. read more

Small hole in the wall Asian restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff. We ordered the Takoyaki Balls as an appetizer. I was not a fan of the sweet mayo sauce, but the rest of the ball was pretty good. The octopus did not have too much flavor, but the texture was nice in comparison to the fried ball. I got the Black Tonkatsu Ramen. The egg was definitely not a soft boil and since the yolk was cold on the inside, I could tell it was boiled and refrigerated at some point. The flavor was good overall. My husband hot the Bulgogi Beef Noodle Plate. The meat was scarce and really felt like it was there to add a little flavor to the noodles. The noodles were well made. I was supremely surprised by the mixed thoughts of the yummyness. The sweet green tea topped it off. Wow,,,,as for the Ramen bowl, as expected it was in the right place right time. I had the TONKATSU . Full attention from the cook was taken. This is our new spot for sushi and ramen bowls. The rolls have been not only delicious, but also they are large and well-made with top-quality ingredients. I do hope to sample more of their offerings, and in-person in the future. We ordered from this restaurant via Grubhub. Quite disappointed. We are quite the poke enthusiasts, especially since I'm married to a Hawaiian and our love for poke originates from the islands. But I digress... on to this review. Food tasted good, flavorful. BUT, the portion sizes for the price are pretty bad. I honestly can't believe we spent almost $50 for what we received. The sushi burrito was VERY small for $17.95. My husband was pretty disappointed. My poke bowl tasted good but the toppings were the skimpiest I've ever seen at a poke place, especially for a large size. I think I could have counted the kernels of corn. Everyone was so sweet when I went to pick up my order. The food: The Takoyaki Balls was a great starter. This is one of my favorite Japanese snacks so this satisfied it! The Black Tonkatsu Ramen & Tonkatsu Ramen was so rich in flavor. I appreciate that they separated the broth from the noodles so it would not get soggy. The Chicken Karaage Bowl is simple yet delicious. The chicken was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Xuan Asian Bowl is a great option if you love tuna, salmon, albacore, and crab meat. The 'build your own bowl' that I made was similar to the Xuan Asian bowl but I added spicy bulgogi beef instead of albacore, I also added more toppings such as seaweed salad, edamame, avacado, mango, and with eel and Xuan Asian sauce. I love the build your own bowl option because you're able to pick the items you like! Overall, all of the dishes we ordered was delicious and flavorful! I love ramen, but my better half greatly prefers poke. Xuan Asian's menu thus becomes an immediate favorite in our house because we can both resolve cravings in a single stop! Raz and I have been debating the rating since our first visit, and since we couldn't decide we had to keep going back to make a well-informed decision. We'll give our thought process on our rating here: Ramen: Black Tonkotsu: good but does not amaze. Every last topping was seriously yummy, but the broth and noodles didn't stack up in comparison. This might be related to the transport time, and we may find this completely amazing when we are finally able to eat it freshly prepared. Veggie Paradise: amazes. I don't like tofu, but Raz tells me that topper was particularly well prepared. The broth, however, made me seriously want to switch bowls with the better-half, and somehow even the noodles seemed to have a slightly better texture, despite identical transport time before dowsing with the broth and eating them. Despite all the carb content of the noodles, this bowl felt almost healthy with all the fresh veg inside, and that broth was pure heaven. Definitely a bowl to go back for. Poke: Ceviche Bowl: solid choice. We ordered with no cilantro because something with this much fish was all for Raz and he really cannot do cilantro at all. Xuan Asian was very good at making that adjustment and he couldn't taste even the hint of cilantro being nearby. He adored every bite of the bowl and found it filling as well as tasty. Kpop Bowl: intriguing option. This was my first ever experience of beef in a poke bowl, but somehow with the kimchi, ginger sauce, and spices it worked. The little pops of sweet corn added textural surprise, and the brown rice rounded out a solidly pleasant Korean/Japanese/Hawaiian fusion experience. Appetizers: Takoyaki Balls: tasty octopus delights. These little balls of batter and octopus were joyful little opening snacks, and a solid choice if you're driving by for a snack. Don't expect to get full on this dish, though, it really is just enough to whet your appetite. Monkey Balls: the best thing anyone has ever done to a mushroom. This appetizer is spendy, but it's a meal in itself if your appetite isn't massive. Also the combination of flavors is complex enough that even Raz has to slow down and savor these. This dish stands up well to the transport home, and the quality and composition of the dish remained consistent across multiple orders and devourings, so the flavor experience is no fluke. Bento: Seafood Combo Tempura Bento Box: a spendy surprise. Raz and I enjoy surprises, and the menu doesn't really say what items go into this combination. We definitely identified shrimp, sweet potato, zucchini, and onion all coated in tempura batter and fried to crisp perfection, but between the two of us we couldn't determine whether the last fried option in the box was chicken, fish, or little pieces of each. The side salad of crisp iceberg lettuce and shaved carrots was right off a public school lunch tray, until I added the surprise sauce included in the box and elevated those completely run-of-the-mill veggies to exotic delicacies. The prices on the Bento boxes are more than I can generally budget for a lunch for just myself, and the size of the box is almost, but not quite a meal for two people. The quantity and quality are likely worth the expense, but all of us customers would be well served with pictures or an explanation of what to expect from the dish right there on the menu. read more

My wife found this place while trying to find a place to go for dinner. I ended up ordered the Volcano Tonkatsu and she ordered the Black Tonkatsu and our 2 boys shared an order of Chicken fried noodles. Everything came out looking delicious. One of our boys said the noodles were "the best thing I've ever eaten". The spice was nice on the Volcano and the Black Tonkatsu had a good flavor. The only ding I have was that the ramen eggs were hard boiled and not soft-boiled and weren't marinated before hand. The fish is bright, the sushi rice is perfect, the spring mix is crisp, the avocado on point, the garlic is crisped to perfection and the squid is actually REAL squid! (See the photos). The menu is limited. The service is pushy. We were there 2 minutes and they wanted to take our dinner order, we hadn't even gotten our waters yet. The food is.... Severely lacking in quality. A delicious place for poki bowls. It's a bit far from my house but it's kinda worth it since their medium bowls always fills up my tummy. There medium bowl allows you to have up to 3 proteins while the large is up to 4. They really do pack a good bowl and it's fulfilling! read more
