I'll say it every time and mean it... sushi xuan is hands down the best of the best in Abq when it comes to sushi! The service is always exceptional, The sushi is always fresh, and the food is always hot and made to order! It's a smaller location but that only adds the to charm and adds more of a reason to go. If you have not tried them yet... check them out!

Chirashi don - mixed sashimi on rice (ordered delivery)

Ordered via GrubHub with gift card. Packaging was smart, separating the ramen broth from the noodles to prevent over-saturation. Alas, I did not enjoy the black garlic tonkatsu ramen broth. The portion was very large, and they didn't skimp on chashu, but the broth was not my bag... Maybe it'll be yours? Also ordered chirashi don (12 pieces of mixed sashimi on rice). Included nice extras, like seaweed salad and imitation krab and tamago (egg)...but only one of the fresh fish impressed me.

Quick update. The egg drop and hot and sour soup are very good. I find myself dining here at least once a week as it is the closest sushi place to my home and rather convenient. The brewery and dispensary in the same shopping center can sometimes make parking challenging, but a short walk to work off an excellent meal is not a bad thing. Eating at the bar is also an interesting experience since you get to meet the takeout customers and delivery drivers waiting for orders.

My second favorite sushi joint! Phenomenal Hamachi with jalapeño. Just be aware that sometimes there is shellfish and it doesn't say that on the menu. Everything is delicious! Services, fantastic, and ambience is nice as well.

Came in for sushi. We are pretty basic when it comes to sushi. California Roll, Tiger Roll, Caterpillar Roll and Tempura. All of it was fantastic. Service was great.

Ordered via Uber Eats. Love at first sight roll and nigiri were pretty good. The fish was fresh enough. The "Korean Spicy Chicken" was confusing because it's not at all what I was expecting. The description doesn't state that it's breaded and fried so I wasn't expecting that. And if you're going to call something "Korean" and fry it, it had better be crispy AF. It had a light coating of breading which is fine but it was not crispy at all. Korean fried chicken is usually a thicker breading and double fried. The use the dried whole chili peppers is more Chinese than Korean. I did taste some gochugang but that's about as Korean as it got. It's not a bad dish, it's just not that Korean. I would maybe try ordering some more sushi rolls but maybe not the "Korean" dishes.

Traveling out of our usual circle brought us here for dinner. We walked into a dimly lit store and greeted by the exuberant manager telling us to sit anywhere and following with menus. Complimentary egg drop soup and our drinks came next. A lot to choose from by we settled on a lobster roll and for entrees the Sizzling Beef & Thai Curry Chicken. The sizzling beef came out sizzling on a cast iron platter(think fajitas). It was well seasoned and tender with onion, mushrooms and white rice in the side. The Curry had a strong yellow curry flavor with tender chicken and loads of veggies. The Lobster Roll tasted fresh. Excellent service topped off the day. Glad we stopped and this place will see us frequently.

I absolutely love this place. The service was top-notch, friendly and attentive. There is plenty of seating with nice, big booths and tables but it is not a huge place. The sushi and specialty rolls menu is amazing and creative. I took my whole family here and we ordered a lot of different things off the menu and everybody enjoyed their food. The sushi fish was extremely fresh and well portioned. Very competitive prices as well for Albuquerque. I also ordered the spicy Korean shrimp and I can honestly say I have never tasted anything like that and it was delicious. I just can't say enough good about this place. It has consistently stayed quality over the years.

Hamachi carpaccio. Tons of wasabi in the sauce; maybe ask for less?

Friendly service, and they seem pretty busy! One thing that brings up their rating is their portion sizes. I don't think I've seen such huge sizes before. Not exaggerating when I say 1 entree can feed for 3 meals. I was only interested in their sushi, so when we got them it was too much! Their rolls are pretty good, but I would stay away from sashimi or chirashi because you can taste the quality of the fish. And as you can imagine being landlocked, it's hard to get super fresh stuff. Rolls are delish, super filling, and totally looking forward to my next visit.

The final price (paying with cash) was $102.32 before the tip, which seems very fair given the size of the portions and the quality. The fish was not the very highest quality, but it was very good. The wasabi was some of (if not) the best that I've ever had. The soy and eel sauces were made in-house, and were excellent. Presumably, the rest of the sauces were house-made as well. Leo was a very good and friendly server. The atmosphere was very relaxed but could be suitable for something fancier. The one thing that hurts is the price; as fair as it is, I do wish that it were a smidgen less.

The two rolls I ordered were better than last time. One was The Green Dragon (i think) using Avacado instead of seaweed. The other was Lobster Dance which is scallops and lobster. The Green dragon was okay. The Lobster Dance would have been a lot better without the overpowering sauce. The nigir were okay, but I prefer my nigiri to not have a lot sauce and all three I ordered were heavily covcered in their cloying (oyster based?) sauce. The Monkey Balls were meh, I've had way better here. The Seaweed Salad was excellent which I think was true last time. I guess I still need to try the in restaurant experience, but based on the food alone I'm not sure it would be great. If anyone has a great place they like let me know!!!

That's why Sakura Sushi & Grill stood out right away. They clearly label gluten-free options on the menu. They also offer gluten-free soy sauce, which is a huge win. Even better, they have lunch specials with gluten-free options, which is rare. It's located in Riverside Plaza in Albuquerque, just past the river on the west side. I ordered the Sushi Lunch A with premium fish and chose the double salmon roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the portions were great for the price. The miso soup that comes with lunch isn't gluten-free, but they brought me a side salad with an amazing gluten-free dressing instead. I felt confident eating here, which is not something I say often. I didn't have any reaction afterward and would absolutely eat here again. One of the coolest surprises: they make their own wasabi in-house. It's not on the menu, but if you ask, they'll bring it out, and it is absolutely worth it. We considered getting a sushi boat, but the lunch specials were a better value for lunch. If we went for dinner, we would absolutely order a boat. I also had hot sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. At the end, they even brought us a sweet cinnamon tea for my friend's birthday, even though we didn't order dessert. Service was warm and attentive the entire time. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and the server made sure her plate only included fin fish, which we really appreciated. We went around 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was quiet with only a few other tables. The atmosphere felt calm and relaxed, with a casual, comfortable vibe that made it easy to sit and actually enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed. They close at 3 and reopen for dinner, so it's a great low-key lunch spot if you time it right. My friend also mentioned she brings her young kids here often, and the woman manager or owner is especially kind and welcoming to them. I enjoyed this place so much that I called my husband on the way home to tell him all about it. We're already planning to go back with our kids, which will make this my second visit in one week. If you're gluten-free, this place is a gem. And even if you're not, the quality, service, and overall experience make it absolutely worth a visit.

For 30.00 you can order whatever you want from the large sushi menu. You have to eat it all and you have a two hour time limit. It kind of reminded me of Meat Beard the food challenge Tuber who eats gigantic food challenges except that you don't get a free meal if you eat everything. It's okay sushi. I find that sushi here in ABQ tends to be the sweet sauce kind and that's no exception here. I had a few nigiris a few special rolls and an eel hand roll. I liked the eel roll except I thought I'd left cream cheese on sushi back in Seattle where I used to live. I've given up on super fresh fish here in ABQ, mainly because I get that we are in the desert so any sushi is welcome. But the nigiris were all fresh tasting with bouncy flesh. The surf clams was the best of those. The place is a little tatty with a half assed attempt at paper flower decorations on a few walls. It's clean but looks old and worn. The staff were nice and friendly and didn't make you work hard to re-order. So the answer to my question is Yes, being able to eat a lot of mediocre food for free is a nice treat. Unfortunately, the fraudulent business practices taint, every other aspect of the meal. This will…read morebe discussed near the end. To start off with the food, it is very average. For the price, you would expect much higher quality food. However, when every dish cost $21 after tax, it is definitely not worth the price. Most of the dishes are dripping with oil. For example, some of the noodle and curry dishes are literally sitting in a tub of oil. The orange chicken uses frozen, perfectly cubed pieces of chicken. I wish they used the actual pieces of chicken, again as the price you pay does not attest to the quality. Red curry is ok but the flavor is very mild. Chicken satay is quite dry and needs all the sauce it can get. Sticky rice mango is a pitiful portion for the price. They even promote fraudulent advertising by showing a giant portion of sticky rice mango with an entire mango on their menu, however, the portion you get is less than half of one mango. It is extremely fraudulent/false advertising. Another issue overall is that the restaurant adds a 3% credit card surcharge. They have signs in the restaurant stating that the credit card companies are charging the customers this extra surcharge. This is again patently false. Credit card companies charge a surcharge to businesses who wish to accept credit cards. This is a normal cost of doing business, and this should definitely not be passed on to the customers as the prices at this restaurant are already at an all-time high. Also, as other reviewers have pointed out, apparently the restaurant charges this on debit cards as well, which is again, entirely fraudulent as debit cards do not charge any transactional fees. Lastly and probably the biggest issue is when they miss items in your order. For example, at the restaurant, I ordered a dessert along with my meal. At the end, it was discovered that the dessert never actually arrived, however, I was charged for it. The restaurant refunded the dessert, however, they only refunded the amount prior to the 3% credit card surcharge that they charged me. This means, the restaurant did not refund the extra 3% That they charged me originally for the dessert! They got to keep an extra 3% of money for intentionally messing up an order which again is fraudulent. This is something that will have to be filed with the FTC as who knows how many others they have scammed out of 3% in the past. Overall, I would highly suggest avoiding this restaurant due to the food quality being poor, the prices being quite high, the extra credit/debit card surcharges, and the fraudulent activity if the restaurant has to provide a refund.
