Not only do they do vegetarian dishes they do true vegan dishes as well. We've been looking for vegan Pho since we moved to New Mexico in May 2026. It's now the end of August 2026 and we finally found someone who doesn't make their vegetarian Pho with chicken broth. It's made upon request with mushroom broth. It is so absolutely delicious. I pondered on getting an order to bring home but I decided to just come back because I wanted to try some of their other dishes. I used to eat here often when I was an undergrad at UNM and a friend reintroduced it to me recently. The udon noodles (f4) are my go to. I loved it so much I went two days in a row. The spring rolls are my very favorite thing on the menu. I took an order home with me to snack on later in the day. Friendly and lightning fast service. I asked my nail tech where he likes to go for Vietnamese food when he dines out and he said Cafe Da Lat is the next best thing to his wife's cooking. My husband and I met up with our Chinese friend who suggested we try Cafe Da Lat. we were greeted right away with a smile and seated immediately. I had great fun trying 3 new food entrees that had not tried before. The 4th was the spring roll, and it was delicious. The order is for two rolls, and we split those up an appetizer. Then we ordered a combination pho, a beef curry with rice, and a pork and eggplant dish with rice. Oh! We split a pork ban sandwiches well. Our friend said that his Vietnamese friend liked this restaurant the best . Nothing was too greasy or salty, and the flavors were new and exciting! I wanted to go back for more. I love this place. It's a peaceful, nicely decorated place for some delicious Vietnamese food away from the sea of activity on Central. The husband and wife who run the place are very friendly and efficient. The Phos are very good with great broth and lots of garnishes. My favorite anywhere is always Banh Hoi (which they call Steam Noodle on the menu). If you've never had Ban Hoi they're little flat laced noodles that look kind of like a flat Chex cereal. You wrap you ingredients in them and dip them in the sauce. There are several version in town but this one is my favorite. If you're in that part of town give them a try. read more

The place doesn't look like much the inside is modestly decorated, but clean. Central has seen better days and Cafe da Lat is still serving amazing food. I can't recall when they opened, but they've been around more than 12 years. The pho is some of the best pho you can get in a restaurant. They have a special pho pot from Vietnam as I understand. Overall: Cafe Da Lat is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Albuquerque so far. Granted, I've only tried 2, but the food was good, the price was more than reasonable, and the service was good. Food: 5 Crispy Cornish Hen: This dish comes with half cornish hen, rice, pickled carrots and daikon, and a lot of steamed veggies (cabbage, bok choy, broccoli). The cornish hen was well cooked. The skin was crispy and there was very little fat. Vegetable, Tofu, & Noodle: You can choose what type of noodle you would like. We ordered it with egg noodle. The broth was light and clear, and it wasn't too sweet. Service: 5 The owner and her husband were the main servers. They were very nice and patient with our questions about the menu. Obviously you need to try the grilled pork vermicelli- but you can't go wrong with anything. Don't let the high fence and sketchy location intimidate you. A lackluster experience from beginning to end. The food was mediocre and didn't have a ton of taste. We had to flag down the server when we needed water, then again to get the check. My hubby ordered a banh mi, but they brought him a vermicelli bowl instead. There were only two other tables there, so the server was mainly just hanging out at the check-out counter, but didn't seem interested in actually serving guests. I find it hard to get excited about local cuisine when the staff don't care if we're there or not. The positives were the price and the fact they box leftovers for patrons. read more

Café De Lat has been a well-known spot in Albuquerque for some time now. I visited on a recommendation. I'm a fan of pho and have a couple of go-to spots I usually enjoy, so I was excited to trying somewhere new. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ends. . The positives: I ordered the rare beef pho. The broth had a floral, aromatic flavor typical of traditional pho. While that worked fine for me, it might not suit those who prefer a less floral and more savory broth--like my wife and, honestly, even myself to some degree. Still, it wasn't bad. The server was friendly and attentive, which I always appreciate. The interior was dated and dark, which seems typical for places like these. Not necessarily a drawback. Now for the drawbacks: I also tried the shrimp and pork spring roll and a pork banh mi. Neither impressed. The pork in the sandwich resembled fried bologna. Honestly, I would have rather had a fried bologna sandwich. The pickled vegetables had more flavor than the pork. The spring roll's noodles had an odd firm texture, like they were undercooked. Just blah. I typically gauge a Vietnamese place by its fish dipping sauce--the kind made with sweetened lime juice and fish sauce, (I typically don't like peanut sauce that usually come with spring rolls.) I specifically asked for the fish sauce. Unfortunately it too was a miss. It was overly sweet with an overpowering garlic taste. It didn't complement the spring roll at all. Bottom line: The pho was passable, but I've had better. The service was great, but the food overall just didn't do it for me. We went to Cafe Dalat on a chilly Fall evening. The place was cozy and clean and the ambiance welcoming. We ordered spring rolls, banh xèo and bánh hỏi. They were all very good and well prepared. The spring rolls were fresh, the banh xèo was crunchy and moist and not at all greasy and the banh hoi were so tasty (This was a real treat as most other Vietnamese restaurants do not offer this dish). The service was prompt and the owner was friendly without being too chatty. It was an enjoyable experience. We will be back. read more

Cafe Da Lat is a long-standing Vietnamese restaurant and it has survived for a reason. The food is fresh and well-prepared and they provide great service. A recent visit to Cafe Da Lat was a great example of why I support the restaurant. I was seated quickly and laced my order. My friend and I split the egg rolls. These crispy little tubes of deliciousness were hot, and filled with a nice mix of pork and vegetables. My friend ordered the rare and well-done pho and stated that it was really good. I enjoyed the vermicelli bowl with pork, shrimp, and egg roll. (I may have an egg roll problem.) Whoever grills in the back "gets it." Lots of flavor, and everything is properly cooked. But here's what made the trip memorable. A man came into the restaurant, and wanted to order something small. He was clearly someone who lived on the street, and spent a good part of his meal talking to someone who wasn't there. The staff treated him kindly and professionally, and at one point, he leaned back in his chair, relaxed and smiled. I had to wonder how often he could just enjoy the simple act of eating without worrying. It told me a lot about the staff's commitment to service. Top Line: Lunch buddy & I chose Cafe da Lat as our monthly get together venue. Good choice! We began the food gamut with an order of their shrimp spring rolls with sweet & spicy dipping sauce that was so good we poured the leftover sauce over our entrees. The vegetation inside the rice paper wrapper was crispy fresh & crunchy. Shrimps were typical, so passably good but not gonna redefine any seafood Nirvana's for you. Buddy got the crispy quail, veggies, & rice plate, with Vietnamese coffee. He gave it good marks on flavor & texture. I scored on the ground pork with eggplant saute with rice plate, with Thai ice tea. A bit salty perhaps, but busting out big time on the flavor front. Both plates had the scoop of rice prettified with shreds of carrot and daikon radish for a touch of visual flair. Portions were plenty big enough to make for filling lunches. Service was professional & prompt, if not particularly friendly or engaging, up to the point our food was delivered. Thereafter the waitress was pretty much unavailable, though she did bring our checks to the table in a semi-timely manner. However, we finally had to walk up to the counter to pay since she wasn't coming around to pick up the checks & payment. Maybe thats what we were expected to do. Dunno. Just felt thin on the follow-up service. Interior was quiet. Subdued decor with downlights dropped quite close to table tops creating small pools of illumunation at each table. Would certainly be cozy & intimate for a date night tete-a-tete. In spite of any downsides, we've added Cafe da Lat to our short list of eateries deserving of a repeat visit. i loved my takeout order here, chicken & ginger pho, lemongrass chicken & rice & the spring rolls --all excellent. the lemongrass chicken reminded me of the version i grew up eating in st paul, minnesota (at the time one of the fast growing vietnamese communities in the country). takeout was well packed & ready for pick-up -fast-, the service courteous & friendly. the restaurant has its own fenced parking lot, you don't have to park on the street. great experience & i'm looking forward to returning. read more

Great and friendly service, this place is among my top 5 for Viet food in ABQ. Tons of parking in their lot, and ample seating inside. I wish more people knew about this place because it's pretty good here. They have a huge variety of foods from soups, noodles, noodle soups, rice bowls, stir fries. They have a little bit of everything for your needs. Their viet coffee is . Not too bitter, just the right amount of sweetness, tons of caffeine. Chicken ginger pho is delicious and refreshing. Their normal pho broth isn't too strong on the spices and a bit on the sweeter side. Still pretty good. And did I tell you their portion sizes are big? My partner and I were looking around for a place to pickup our quick lunch when it seemed our usual go-to place was closed on that day. Cafe Da Lat came to mind and my partner had been there before and he liked it...so we tried to place an order while driving back home. One thing though..we did try to access the website listed on Yelp to look at the menu...and hmm..let's just say their website isn't operable anymore. Instead, it auto-routed me to a Japanese soft porn site -_-'. Also, the menu listed on Yelp seemed a bit limited. So, knowing what kindda thing we wanted already..I called anyway to ask to place an order not seeing a menu (combo bun and egg rolls). It took a while to get the combo bun order in since there was really no way to communicate well on what we wanted (was it pronounced as bun..or ban? who knows...the guy intiailly thought I wanted combo pho with tripes et all, etc..but eventually we got it sorted out on the call). The pickup was fast. They were ready for our order in just 10-15 min. Upon walking in, they were friendly, knew immediately what I stopped by for and also were ready to give me my food and process my payment. Overall, the combo bun was great. They had some grilled pork, shrimp and egg rolls on the rice noodles..but I wished they had more variety and just more meat. Nevertheless, the taste was good and the food hit the spot for us for a quick lunch at home though. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Albuquerque. The food is so fresh and delicious. Service is great, too. I had the fried noodles with chicken (F3). The plate had a sauce, then the noodles, then it was piled with vegetables and chicken. We also had spring rolls. A friend got wonton soup. I've never seen wonton soup look so good. Normally it a broth with wontons. This had noodles, a plate with bean sprouts and herbs and a lime wedge were brought to enhance it. I need to try it next time. Delicious!! read more

I'm currently obsessed with jalapenos, and I think Cafe Da Lat is responsible. My girlfriend and I came in for a meal last week, splitting an order of pork buns (menu #A3) and bowl of rare beef pho (B1). The buns were soft, the filling warm. The pho was outstanding. Try as I might to be polite, some slurping did occur. The jalapenos were a knockout: I loved it. With zero shame, I returned in under a week, placing a takeout order for another bowl of pho. This time, I asked for extra jalapenos. Arriving back home, I dished everything into a big bowl, liberally garnishing with jalapeno slices. Each bite is different. Some are mostly noodles, soft and soaked in delicious broth. Others are chiefly bean sprouts, crunchy and juicy. I savor them all, looking forward especially to those bites which contain noodles, sprouts, jalapenos, cilantro, AND beef. That's pretty much heaven. The broth stands on its own legs, as should be expected from any competent pho joint. I never add sriracha or hoisin or what have you; the soup speaks for itself. And here I am, speaking on its behalf, encouraging you to try it for yourself. Eat at Cafe Da Lat. Seek the happiness I have experienced. Come to the jalapeno side. read more

Been eating here all of my life (literally) and it's just such good food and good service. I've never had anything bad here. Everything is so good that I have gotten to the point of just picking a number and ordering without looking. It is locally owned and the family still runs and cooks everything themselves. I came back from a long drive and was craving hot noodle soup. Because it was late and my usual Vietnamese joint closed early, I stopped by this restaurant to try a new place. I was told by my friends to try this place for a long time so I did! An hour before it was closed, there were two other tables in the restaurant.The place is dimly lit so it can be difficult to read the menu.The menu was extensive with limited pictures. I also noticed that the prices are affordable. As I looked at the phó section, I had to make a difficult decision. Should I go traditional or creative? I ended with up a sort of hybrid noodle bowl with duck and bamboo shoots. I know what you might think - ducks and bamboo shoots in a noodle bowl!? The noodle bowl came and I was impressed with the amount of duck meat in the bowl. That said, I was a bit disappointed with the temperature of the soup. Personally I liked the soup to be piping hot but that's my fault that I didn't tell them when I placed my order. The taste was okay - nothing stood out. The service was good. My orders were taken within the ten minutes I was in the restaurant. When I needed my noodle soup to be boxed, they boxed it for me, which was a great service.
