I came back from a long drive and was craving hot noodle soup. Because it was late and my usual Vietnamese joint closed early, I stopped by this restaurant to try a new place. I was told by my friends to try this place for a long time so I did! An hour before it was closed, there were two other tables in the restaurant.The place is dimly lit so it can be difficult to read the menu.The menu was extensive with limited pictures. I also noticed that the prices are affordable. As I looked at the phó section, I had to make a difficult decision. Should I go traditional or creative? I ended with up a sort of hybrid noodle bowl with duck and bamboo shoots. I know what you might think - ducks and bamboo shoots in a noodle bowl!? The noodle bowl came and I was impressed with the amount of duck meat in the bowl. That said, I was a bit disappointed with the temperature of the soup. Personally I liked the soup to be piping hot but that's my fault that I didn't tell them when I placed my order. The taste was okay - nothing stood out. The service was good. My orders were taken within the ten minutes I was in the restaurant. When I needed my noodle soup to be boxed, they boxed it for me, which was a great service. I plan to go back to try another dish again. read more

Love this place! Now that the weather has turned chilly it is time for us to get our pho on! The broths for the different pho's are all real and each one tastes distinct. I've been on a hunt for some authentic phó, where the broth is made the right way with bones and seasonings, none of the bouillon junk. Well, this is the place to go! Winner winner! These guys are phó real! They make phó-nomenal broth! It's perfectly flavored, not oily, and has just the right of everything. I had the chicken phó and my friend had the beef phó! Both were on point. Another friend had fried rice and was amazed by the flavor. She deemed herself as a fried rice connoisseur and said this might be ABQ's best! At the end of our meal, we gave our compliments to the server who turned out to be one of the owners! We had a lovely conversation about their cooking methods, food preps, and ingredients! He was more than happy to share everything, talking about the long process of broth making, the "secrets" of fried rice, and so much more! I highly highly recommend this quaint restaurant! Not only is the food superbly prepared and served, but this restaurant houses a generous vibe within its walls. A friend of mine visited the place with his son and didn't have enough cash on hand to buy a huge meal for his hungry child. Apparently left the credit card home. Well, it turned out a fellow diner bought them both 2 extra sandwiches and a big bowl of noodle soup! Not a loan, a gift. Another time, I was there with my family and the waiter not only gave us impeccable service but conversed in Vietnamese with my grandson, who has learned a few Vietnamese words. I love this place. I tried a bunch of the slew of Vietnamese places in this area (where they all seem to be). I tried the ones others claim are the best, but for my taste, Cafe da Lat reigns supreme. They have a huge menu and I admit I haven't tried most items. But their pho is excellent along with every other dish I've tried. My personal favorite items are their egg rolls, the ground pork with eggplant and the chicken clay pot. Another fave is the F1, am enormous noodle stir fry with beef, chicken, and shrimp for an extremely reasonable price. The owner and his wife are very kind and helpful. This is hands down my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. The food here is simple, unpretentious and reminds me of the food I get in the Vietnamese neighborhood of my hometown of Dallas. I usually go back and forth between Pho or a Vermicelli plate, but every time I've strayed from that, I have been pleasantly surprised. I've never had a bad meal here and their spring rolls are my favorite in town. I usually try to order the bacon wrapped shrimp when I go too. I'm not sure that these are "authentic" Vietnamese, but they are incredible nonetheless. The menu is extensive so you can find anything for all tastes: vegan, vegetarian, the more adventurous, or even the most picky diner in your group. read more

Cute and clean Vietnamese restaurant on Central. We shared pork/shrimp spring rolls, egg rolls, tofu crepe, rare beef pho, shrimp lotus salad, and pork sausage vermicelli noodles. All dishes were well prepared and served quickly. Food here tasted similar to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SoCal. Although the crepe can use more coconut milk in the batter to bring out the sweet aroma of this dish. Service was quick and friendly. I give this place a 4.5 stars.
