I had high hopes for the lunch buffet, but it was disappointing as only a few items tasted like genuine Chinese food. Then they charged $2.75 for a soda. The shao mai, sushi was just so so. The pineapple fried rice was pretty good. The green tea ice cream was bland. The little cakes on the dessert stand were very dry and flavorless. The restaurant is clean and the decor is nice, but I would not return for the buffet. read more

Went here with some family and friends and the waitress talked up the $99 love boat sushi dish. We went for it expecting an extravagant sushi display. What a joke... should be renamed the "love raft" and priced at least $50 less. The rest of the food we ordered was also lacking in both quality and quantity for the price. Anyway don't get the love raft. read more

The sushi here is excellent, but the buffet is super busy, and the staff doesn't keep the food full. It's also pretty pricey for a buffet. They do a service for dinner and it's better than the buffet, and the appletinis are really good. I would give them a 2.5 if possible because they are exactly average. read more

The food was pretty good. We had a broad range of things, but didn't sample the sushi. Everything was tasty. The service was fine, but the attitude of the staff detracted from the food. The staff didn't seem to be happy to be working there, and if there wasn't money to be made, they weren't interested in helping. This was not my first visit, and it won't be my last. I hope management will improve conditions such that the workers feel happy serving. read more

This restaurant has some pretty good atmosphere, but the food is hit or miss, unfortunately. I think their lunch buffet is all right, but when I ordered dinner here recently, I definitely felt like everything was seasoned with just too much sugar. If I were really hungry for Chinese food, I'd come here, but only if I was on the verge of road rage. (The other thing that annoyed me was that the server sat us down in a relatively quiet spot and then proceeded to chat loudly and constantly with his coworkers in Chinese.) I haven't had the Japanese food here though. Judging by the quality of the lunch buffet, I'm not sure that it would be very memorable anyways. So, all in all, not a bad restaurant, but they definitely could use some less sugar in their recipes. read more

We went here hoping for some good drinks and apps.....we will not be back. First we all ordered a glass of wine and 2 of the 3 were awful! I ordered a mai tai in place of it hoping they would do the right thing and remove the glass of wine I did not drink from the bill. Well the bartender had his back turned to us the whole time and looked like it was an inconveince to even serve us! After we finished our drinks we got the bill and he didn't even take of the wine. This place has become our go to place if we are in mood for Buffet. First of all, the food selection is not that vast - not close to some of the other buffets in town. But the quality is not bad...they don't bring out large amount of food and let it sit out too long. Second, their selection of California rolls are fresh and satisfying. Third, they also often have steaks strips on weekends. Lastly, I love the green tea Ice Cream. Our kids even like the ginger ice cream and everyone loves the chocolate dipped strawberries. read more

I had been to bamboo on a couple of occasions previously for the buffet and it was generally good (which is pretty good considering I rarely approve of Chinese buffets). However, yesterday I ordered a takeout which was so sub-standard that I was terribly disappointed. The takeout wasn't cheap ($45 for 3 dishes). I ordered: Shrimp Fried rice with Basil ($11) - It was so oily and had tiny shrimp Hunan Spicy boneless duck ($20) - This dish had so little duck, some boiled vegies and soy sauce. It was not at all spicy. Just awful. Chinese Eggplant in garlic sauce ($12) - This was the Best dish (and I am not a fan of vegetables, if you know what I mean). For an expensive Chinese takeout, this was a disaster! read more

Lunch buffet review. The most unique thing is that they have sushi at the lunch buffet. The fish is cut rather thin, but that they have sushi at all for the buffet is a big win for me. The rest of the buffet is standard, suburban Chinese restaurant fare. I find it hard to differentiate among this class of Chinese restaurant. Attended a retirement luncheon there--noisy. The lunch buffet is one of the better ones in the area. The selection is quite good. The price is OK. For dinner, they don't really execute very well compared to other Asian restaurants in the area. The quality is maybe a step above Chinese fast food, but not by much. Like other restaurants in that complex, it suffers from a lack of parking, but it's never hard to get a table. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I do think their food is very good and consistent. But it is way overpriced and they nickel and dime you for everything. For $100 worth of sushi that I order, you would think you'd get enough wasabi and ginger. Ask for enough, and of course they charge you more! Want rice with your Chinese food? I have gone here for their buffet. Only go at lunch. It is very busy, but less expensive. On Sunday night their buffet is $15!! I don't eat $15 worth of Chinese food. The servers are pretty rude. If you order individually off the menu, there is a minimum of what you can order for the number of people, but it's not written of their menu. I just don't like it! Honestly, I would choose their neighbor Flatbread over this place. It's a better family, date, or bar experience. read more

We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the restuarant as well as the friendly and attentive waitstaff. The quality of the food was very good. Yada, yada. Great dining experience ruined by the manager who refused to allow us to leave with an unfinished bottle of wine, which is now LEGAL in Massachusetts (provided the bottle is resealed - Mass. General Law Chapter 138, Section 12). I paid for it, my wife and I had drank half of it, and this boob STEALS the other half from me. He compounds this by LYING to me, saying that bottles of partially finished wine can only be brought out of "some hotels in Massachusetts." There are plenty of decent restaurants in this area. I think the buffet here is fantastic, especially for the Chinese food. It's a little pricey for buffet ($16) but it's almost always fresh - the staff is constantly replacing the selections and they never sit around empty. The Chinese dinners are about what you would expect to pay for good take-out, only it's served immediately and therefore much better. Great Beijing ravioli & General Gau's... The Japanese is a little more expensive, but it's also very good. The meats aren't fatty & the vegetables are all fresh and crisp. Not an impressive dessert selection, but you can always stop at La Cascia's for a treat on your way home. My husband says the sushi isn't bad either. The atmosphere is very nice and I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated. read more

I used to go here more frequently for the lunch buffet because I worked in the area. That said, I stopped in for lunch on a Friday, at 1 pm which should have been hoppin' busy. But it wasn't, oddly enough. My plan was to have mostly sushi for lunch, but there wasn't any left at the buffet. I asked my waitress about it and she offered to let me know when it was replenished. She followed through and I was able to have some sushi that wasn't picked over or sitting out too long. The reason for 3 and not 4 stars is that it didn't appear that the buffet was being replenished at a fast enough rate, especially on a Friday (when I've always found Bamboo to be busiest). I didn't have long for lunch, so I missed out on trying the shao mai and the ravioli simply because there weren't any available. On average, I've found their buffet to be better than average and would recommend it as a "better than average Americanized Chinese food experience". Parking is often a pain in the neck. Will I go back again? Yes, I will. read more

I had been pretty disappointed with the local fare in Burlington since I came to Boston in 2011. In particular, I hadn't found a good place for some Lo Mein or Beef and broccoli other than Mr. Chan's which, while good, wasn't good enough to get me back there considering the other, better restaurants closer by. So when I had a hankering for Chinese with a friend of mine, I hunted down this place via Yelp and gave it a shot. I can safely say that this will become a regular haunt for me when I need some Chinese food. The restaurant was immaculately clean and very smartly designed, going for a simple, subdued design that doesn't attract your eyes with the animated wall murals or tacky gold paint like more "American style" Chinese restaurants. In fact, I got the initial impression I was under dressed (jeans, boots, and collared over shirt), but the dress of other patrons was similar to mine, so don't be fooled by the sharp dressed staff - this is a nicer casual joint, akin to the Cheesecake Factory or similar. The food was priced well given the portion size, but one thing I immediately noticed was how neat everything was. While other restaurants may smother their dishes in sauces or seasoning, my friend and I noticed that everything was really well seasoned/marinated but with a very minimal amount of excess sauce on the plate. It gave the impression that they cooked the food with careful attention to detail, and were aiming for higher quality rather than massive quantity like other restaurants. My Lo Mein was so well cooked, I actually cleaned the plate of everything in it, mushrooms included (and given that I HATE MUSHROOMS, this was a feat in and of itself!). My friend had their crispy Pad Thai, which was an interesting take on what's a common dish, and one he remarked was a pleasant surprise. We also had Egg Rolls, which were incredibly big and densely packed, as well as Miso and Wanton soups, which were good. All in all, it was an absolutely delicious meal, and I cannot wait to go back. The end tab, with 20% tip to our waiter came to an acceptable $43 for two people, for a shared appetizer, two soups, and two entrees (which are easily shared). One more thing that I really liked was how the staff were treated. In most restaurants, staff eat behind closed doors, away from the guests as if they were 2nd class citizens. During our dinner, we witnessed a small group of staff eating and sharing their food in a corner near the front desk, cracking jokes and swapping stories. It was nice to know that their managers treated them no different than the guests who dine there, and it's clearly reflected in their genuinely sincere and positive attitudes. I've been coming here for buffet lunch for years, and this place, finally, has hit rock bottom. The main problem is that this place seats far more people than it can feed. The lines to the buffet can be 40 people long or longer - and not just on Fridays. The more popular dishes gone more than half the time and by the time they get replaced, you'll probably be done with your meal. Aside from fruit and ice cream, there is only one dessert item. There are far better lunch and dining options in Burlington/Bedford. read more

This place has reached the apex of Americanized generic Asian food, there is a smallish selection of Chinese food and what looks like a better sized selection of Japanese including sushi. We had the Chinese, it was clean and tasted fine. Frankly it was a stretch to find something on the limited menu to order and the portion size was on the smallish side relative to typical Chinese restaurants. In fact, I believe this was the first time in my life that we finished all the food we ordered in a Chinese restaurant. Also the environment is quite sterile, probably since it was an office building previously. It was Saturday evening and many tables were full. If this is the type of food and place you enjoy then you won't be disappointed, personally I'll pass. read more

Ate lunch here recently based on reviews and Zagat rating. Glad I did! Nice place. Lovely decor, polite and unobtrusive staff. The buffet was all fresh. No greasy dishes like some other buffets. The premade salads are a nice touch, plus the ginger ice cream. The serve tea by the pot. Lots of room here. They also have a complete menu, but didn't order from it. Love the food at Bamboo. However, my last visit on 3/12/16 the service was poor. I've been there many times over the past few years and this was by far the worst service I've experienced there. The waiter took our order, disappeared, came back with the food, and disappeared. When my water glass was empty he was nowhere to be found. Finally came by after I piled my dishes together. I asked to have the leftovers packed to go and he took them and cleared the table. Brought back the leftovers and disappeared again for about 10 minutes then he came by to ask if we were all set, then left to get the check and bring it to the table. Hopefully this was just a bad night and not a trend as I love the food. read more

my family and i ate here on the sunday dinner buffet. i loved everything. it comes w/ soup..choice of wonton, miso or hot and sour. the buffet had plenty to choose from...salt and peppery shrimp, spicy baked mussels, lobster pieces in some type of gingery chinese sauce (yum! my fave from the buffet), sushi, dumplings, veggie tempura, crab rangoon, chicken skewers, chicking wings, chicken and asparagus skewer, beef and broccoli, fruits, desserts (tea and ginger ice cream, carrot cake,) and so much more. i wasn't a fan of their fried rice tho...not used to seeing mango in my rice i guess. but everything else was delicious. oh and they do charge for soda refills. thank goodness we stuck w/ water. they did a pretty good job at refilling it w/ out us having to ask. i took off 1 star for the price. $17 for adults which isn't bad...but only 5 and under gets the reduction of $7. my 8 and 6 year old don't even eat that much..they should charge the kids according to how much they're able to eat! other than that i would definately eat here again..when the kids aren't w/ us. read more
