The bar is bright

Stopped in for a couple $5 martinis and mules while passing through Willoughby. Happened in on a night where a lovely guitarist was playing some live music, and I just loved her rendition of "Dancing in the Moonlight" The Cosmo was done perfectly and the Mexican Mule was enjoyed as well! We ordered some honey sriracha Brussels sprouts which were spi-i-i-cy! They had cherries and slivered almonds which were just divine. I'm not a goat cheese lover so we subbed out for mozzarella instead! Woo-wee, my lips be burnin! We also had a nice simple strawberry pecan bleu cheese salad with mesclun mix + a white sherry vinaigrette, and oh my gosh, let's not forget the bacon! This was really a terrific texture! I have usually only come here for the dancing and the typical bar scene, but I'm happy we were coming this way for a piece of furniture. Way to go, Bally's!

Sat at the bar and enjoyed a pizza

Visited DTW for the first time in a while and sat at the bar at Ballantine. Service was pretty friendly. It was clean and they put effort in to social distancing their customers. We ordered the BBQ pork poutine and the caramelized onion and mushroom spinach pizza. The toppings on the poutine were delicious but there weren't many fries on the plate and they were over cooked and too crispy. They lost the potato flavor. The onions were almost absent from the pizza, which, except for the occasional mushroom, lacked flavor. The ingredients were fresh, so I appreciated that. The liquor selection at the bar is vast, you'll find any flavor of vodka you can imagine. They even carry several flavored whiskeys. Worth a stop if you're looking for fresh bar food and drinks!

Friendly service always, great dinner specials. Very nice during the warm months in downtown Willoughby. We didn't eat inside but did order a to go special.

Love this place. The filet was cooked perfect. I like well done steak and it's usually dry. It wasn't here it was cooked perfectly. The steak fries were good as was the asparagus. The pizzas are great. The cheese is fresh and they're wood cooked pizzas. Rosemary fries and chicken wings are excellent. Atmosphere is casual with a full bar and music playing in the background. Service is very good. You can see the chef cooking in the open kitchen. Drinks are good too! The Ballantine Bellini is really good!! Located in downtown Willoughby on the main strip. This place is a great gem. A little pricey but worth it!! We will definitely be back. Try the desert too. The Caramel cheesecake was sweet and the sauce was buttery. One of our favorite restaurants.

Great place to grab a Bellini!

"Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

The prices were astronomical so my daughter and I just ordered meatballs and potato wedges. I really wanted fish but there was only ONE fish dish on the menu and I didn't like how it was going to be prepared. There's a big disclaimer at the bottom of the menu that says "no substitutions or modifications". Geez, for a $40 fish plate you couldn't have modified it for me?? The meatballs were good, but came out luke warm. The wedges were good. The atmosphere was nice. For 3 meatballs, 5 potato wedges, and a 15% tip (she lost 5% due to not asking us for drinks) our bill came to $45. I *wish* I was joking. We won't be back. I honestly feel like I just got ripped off.

Service was amazing as always, and we never had to ask for anything. We tried a few appetizers: calamari, bacon, truffle fries and salads. Everything was delicious, the calamari was especially perfectly light and crispy with cherry peppers. Chef's kiss! All our steaks and sides were cooked perfectly, though we felt the steaks could have been seasoned more. We had filets and a strip. Sides were all delicious: mashed, truffle fries, creamed spinach, and Brussels sprouts. Will definitely return to this location if I'm in the area again

Unfortunately, it just does not feel like the same place anymore. First, the addition of high tops really changes the atmosphere. What once felt upscale and classic now leans more "sports bar with expensive steaks." Maybe that is just me, but part of the appeal was the elegance and experience. Then came the steaks. We ordered three expensive steaks medium, and before they even came out, the waiter realized the kitchen heard "well done." We politely asked for it to be corrected before the food hit the table. Somehow, one still arrived well done anyway. Thankfully, someone at the table took one for the team and ate it, but when dinner runs around $600, you hope the steaks and the temperatures are both memorable for the right reasons. At one point, a side dish was dropped on the floor. Accidents happen, no big deal. But we did have to gently clarify that yes, we would still like the dish... just preferably not the "farm to floor" version. The disappointing part is that I had promised a fantastic worker and his amazing wife a really special night out. This unfortunately was not it. I genuinely hope this was just an off night, because this place used to set the standard. For now though, we will probably try another steakhouse next time.

Despite the "busy night" rush, we were seated promptly and greeted by our server within minutes. The efficiency here is truly incredible. The Highlights: * Drinks: The LongHorn Old Fashioned was mixed perfectly, and the handcrafted lemonade was a refreshing, high-quality choice. * Appetizer: The Texas Tonion came out fresh, piping hot, and perfectly crispy. * Entrees: We added lobster tails to our dinners, and they were delectable. Most importantly, the steak was a perfect medium-rare--not easy to pull off during a rush! * Sides: Don't skip the crispy Brussels sprouts or the loaded baked potato. * Dessert: Finished with the strawberry shortcake, which was the ideal light and sweet end to the night. Great atmosphere, professional service, and technical precision in the kitchen. We will definitely be back!
