The restaurantvwas a little more casual than I envisioned, but we were seated right away. The hostess/server took our order and our entrees arrived a short time later. We each ordered the bento box dinner. I ordered shrimp, my daughter ordered chicken. Each bento box comes with soup, salad, protein of choice, vegetables, noodles or rice, California sushi roll and 2 mini spring rolls, for just a little over $20. The serving was more than generous, the soup was a nice starter, the salad was crisp & fresh, nicely dressed with a tasty ginger dressing. The actual meal was very good, the veggies, were fresh, and perfectly cooked, along with our protein. The noodles were a little more cooked than I would have liked, I'd probably get fried rice the next time. The sushi roll was tasty, as was the spring rolls. Lots of value for the amount paid, I will return!

The service before placing our order and after was virtually non-existent. The food came out quickly after ordering. The appetizers were nice. Light and crispy crab Rangoon and vegetable spring rolls. The ginger salad dressing was tasty. All of the sauces were thin and watery. The food itself was a bit on the bland side, if I'm being frank. We all got steak hibachi. The sushi was the star of the show. Go there for the sushi, if anything. Super fresh and tasty. I'm glad to have tried this restaurant, but I can't say I'd be going back anytime soon. The bathrooms were very clean, though. The ambiance quickly turned sour. It became an absolute ZOO at 5:30 on a Saturday. The tiny front lobby was piling up quickly. Karen had a scowl on her face. The music was obnoxiously loud, crappy 90s style. (Take it down about 20% there, chief!) It was like a nightmare loop, and I was glad to leave! For now, I'm going to stick with going to a more relaxed hibachi called Maki in Diamond Center. Thanks, anyway.

But once you walk in, it's surprisingly huge inside and really nice! It was pretty empty when we went, which made it feel relaxed and comfortable, and the servers were all very friendly and attentive. I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp, which was only $18 -- and I paid $4 extra so I could get both rice and noodles. Totally worth it. The portions were huge and everything was very tasty. The best part by far was the noodles and veggies -- so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The chicken and shrimp were both great too and you get a ton of food for the price. Overall, such a good value and a really solid hibachi spot. Don't judge it by the outside -- it's definitely worth going in!

I didn't even touch the spicy tuna roll (save yourself, don't order it). I had asked for a manager and told her my complaints and she proceeded to tell me that she's not gonna make me pay and that it's gonna be taken off our bill. Nothing was taken off our bill. If I could rate this place -10 stars I would. We will not be coming back!! I can't find the option to add pictures but just trust it was horrendous.

Honestly, you're missing out on more than just a meal--you're missing out on the best part of your week! This isn't just a restaurant; it's hands-down my favorite place to be. The food here is nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're craving the theatrical flair of the Hibachi grill or the delicate artistry of their sushi bar, Tomi delivers every single time. Two absolute "must-orders" that will change your life: * The Mango Tango Roll: A tropical explosion of freshness that dances on your palate. * The Angry Tuna Roll: The perfect balance of spice and depth for those who want a little kick with their crunch. What truly sets Tomi apart isn't just the high-end cuisine--it's the people. The staff is incredibly lovely and engaging, making sure your glass is never empty and your smile never fades. But the real magic comes from the owners. They are some of the most humble, genuine people you will ever meet. They don't just run a business; they welcome everyone like family. They actually take the time to get to know you, turning a simple dinner into a meaningful connection. The Bottom Line: From the first bite of sushi to the last laugh at the hibachi table, Tomi Japanese Steakhouse is an experience that feeds your soul as much as your appetite. Go see them--you can thank me later!
