I went for the first time to treat myself to a birthday massage. I had never had one before and figured I would give it a try. This place had good reviews so I gave it a shot. Chris is very off-putting and not very personable and I didn't feel very welcome at first but the massage went okay. I decided to go back a second time because I felt like it helped in some ways, but he really hurt me this second time. I could feel my shoulder blade popping a lot and when I winced he whispered into my ear just "you feel that?". Then he had the audacity to give me a hard time for having a "stiff neck" and said it was "all in my head". I have been feeling crappy all day the next day. I was trying to give him a chance but honestly he is rude and I think I can do better. He is not very welcoming to newcomers nor is he gentle at times. I would say that if he just kept his mouth shut instead of acting like a know-it-all, the process would have maybe garnered him 3 stars. Besides, if something were wrong, all he had to do was tell me to relax and help me with releasing more tension for him to work with. Don't give me flack for something that I can't help. I'm still nervous and new to massages as a way of therapy. Not a great way to keep a customer. I won't be coming back. Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Just to start off -- the reason for a star off was because at the moment of my massage, they were doing construction on the building next to his, which I know isn't any fault of Christopher's, but is still a pretty big disturbance for a massage business. Hopefully it's done by the time you're reading this! There were a lot of things I really liked about this experience here. I loved that the table was heated, and I loved that he wiped down with hot towels afterwards, two things that are often not done everywhere. I hate the slightly oily feeling after a massage and usually go home straight after to take a shower. And of course, who doesn't love a heated table? Christopher was able to help align my back and work out all the knots in my neck/shoulder/back. I spend the majority of my day behind a computer, or standing for long periods of time, so I always have problems there. He gave me some everyday tips for combatting the problem, and I've generally been doing better since then! read more

Ugh. Despite my misgivings, I had such a great massage, that I have to share. I booked this place for two reasons, it was nearby and there was an opening. I NEVER expected to stumble upon one of the best (and most healing) massages I've ever had. I honestly have never had a massage like this. IIRC, Christopher doesn't call it a massage, he calls it "body work". And work, he did. There seemed to be a channel of communication between Christopher's hands and my muscles. So when I booked this appointment, I accidentally booked two 90 min sessions on two consecutive days before my board exam... Turns out the only MISTAKE I made was canceling one of them!!! This was literally one of the BEST massages of my life (and I get weekly ones at home and my regular therapist is great). I've never been so relaxed so quickly! I have tension HA and migraine from constant stress and anxiety(thanks career)... and it was exacerbated significantly by this exam(again, thanks career). After trying all of the high end spas in Dallas, including hotels like Zaza, I was getting really disappointed in the mediocre service and overrated prices. I woke up with back pain one day and decided I needed a massage no matter what. I found Balance Through Massage on Yelp, and it had better ratings than the other area spas, so I decided to try it. SO glad I did! Christopher will consult with you beforehand to customize a massage that will feel and work best for your body. Like the other reviews said, your time does not start until your massage starts on the table. Where else can you get that?! If you want a 60 or 90 minute massage, you get the FULL time on the table! The room is very relaxing, and I love the aromatherapy scents on the head rest to make breathing more enjoyable. I booked a massage at 8am on a Tuesday and was able to get the first appointment at 10. Christopher did a great job and accommodated my special requests in regards to my back injury. I went in to have him work on my shoulders and he put lots of pressure and helped loosen then up. I'm not normally used to having such deep pressure applied but it really did help. I am glad I found someone in my area who is outside of the massage franchise (those are terrible and lack good customer service). First off I want to mention I had always been hesitant/stubborn to pay for a massage. I can't believe how wrong I was. After years of working out and experiencing some pain in my neck, upper, and lower back over the past few months, I went and saw a chiropractor, applied ice and heat, and took time off from the gym to try and heal. I've been battling a pinched nerve in my lower back for well over 2 years, if not longer. Many friends have recommended I see a chiropractor, but my previous experience with chiropractors hasn't been great and I've repeatedly felt they only helped me short-term. I decided to see Christopher in the hopes he could provide some longer-term relief. Not only did he take the time to identify exactly where and how I was hurting, but he showed me some exercises that I can do in my own time to help alleviate the issue. Christopher's massage techniques were not only spot on, but I could feel instant relief. I spend a good chunk of my day at a desk, and Chris quickly identified that I also had upper back tension. He does a very deep tissue massage which can be intense at times, but he clearly knew exactly where and how to massage in order to relieve the tension. I've done my stretches daily since seeing Chris a week ago, and the amount of lower back pain I have is diminishing by the day. The Best Massage I have ever had! After a less than stellar massage experience at a local massage chain I turned to yelp to see what else was out there. I was intrigued by Christopher at Balance Through Massage because I have never seen so many positive raving reviews. I booked my appointment online and the process could not have been any simpler. You can select what day you want to come in and see all of the available time slots. His hours are excellent and include appointments as late as 6:00pm on weekdays and Saturday appointments. I am an extremely active person and workout usually 6 times a week. I am a StudioHop Member so I do anything from HIIT, to Yoga, to Weightlifting to Spin. I have competed in Body Building and Powerlifting in the past and I am also on a local Dance Team and take many dance classes a week in addition to my normal morning workouts. So its fair to say that I push my body very hard and was in pretty rough shape. I do not get massages regularly since I have never felt like they have been worth the money. Most massages I have received in the past feel extremely generic and like the therapist is going through the motions of what they are supposed to do. I leave feeling only 10% better than when I came in. I had a completely different experience this past Saturday at Balance Through Massage. The massage was unlike anything I have experienced in the past with many different techniques used. He was really able to work through the pain and stiffness in my upper back. The studio was extremely relaxing and the massage table was so warm. The aromatherapy was subtle and complemented the massage beautifully. I love that this is not a massage chain so I do not have to go through the sales pitch after my massage or pick from a massage menu or add "upgrades". I am looking to book another appointment later in the month and plan on getting a massage from Chris more regularly to keep my body pain free and mobile.
