Best cafe, bakery, brunch spot. Service is always great and the best almond croissants in Texas.
The cinnamon roll here was large, yummy, and flaky - more, cross between a croissant and cinnamon roll. The inside of this cafe is super cute too. The espresso is very tart if you like that. We got 2 Cortados and a cinnamon roll for $14.20 to give a sense of the price point. Order at counter, grab a number, and they bring your drinks and treats out to you.
Love the roomy and plenty seating. Tried the Lemon Kouign Aman - first time trying a flavored kouign aman. It had decent lemon filling that had sufficient sweetness. Warmed up - great! Only docking 1 star because the latte took a while to come and came after pastries.
Austin bakery located in Domain Northside has a variety of baked goods. Good and fast service, clean, lots of space inside and a covered patio outside.
Cute bakery and cafe with a variety of Parisian desserts and pastries. The charming and spacious interior make it a great place for meeting friends over a cup of coffee. There are a few tables for seating outside too.
Bakery Lorraine always hits! The thing about pastries is there are so many that don't taste good, they aren't even worth finishing usually. This place is different. There is something real and authentic about their pastries that make them taste more like high quality homemade than store bought. The people working here are always kind and approachable. The restaurant is large enough to enjoy your food in peace even though it's quite busy. They thoughtfully put all the things you need on a center counter top like water cups and take away boxes. Sit at the bar against the window to watch traffic go up and down the street.
Just had breakfast down the street and wanted something sweet. The choices were numerous and all looked amazing! I chose the iced oatmeal cookie. It was super soft! The icing wasnt super sweet so that it didnt overpower the taste of the cookie. Definitely one of the best cookies I have ever had. Now I just need to try some of the other goodies!
I want to love this place. It's in a great location and can be pretty. The staff is super friendly too BUT the food is meh. The price is high and you expect more. That's my honest review. It could be so much more. It can taste so much better. I've had way better food elsewhere for brunch with better ingredients for similar price or less. Bigger plates and better quality food instead of feeling like a hotel that offers breakfast for free quality food. Sorry. Wish it was better. Had other experiences before this here and wanted to give it another try but nope it didn't exactly wowed me again today. At least the sandwiches didn't. The potatoes were sparse and yes embassy suites potatoes are better. The croissant was ok. Have had better. The salad tasted like Costco chicken salad ahh hated to say this too :( Would give 4 stars bc the one server was sweet but she left for the day. Another was kind. Others were busy and ok. But the food rating solely for the food is very meh
Was in town for a visit and had a few hours to spare for brunch. was walking around the area of where my hotel was at, which is by the domain in Austin, Tx. I came across this bakery cafe and it looked perfect. The place is clean and well Maintained. The staff are friendly and I ordered myself an iced latte and an avocado toast. I was able to find a good spot to dine and be on my computer while I brunch on. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing and I quite enjoyed myself for a bit. My latte was made perfectly and my avocado toast tasted fresh and delicious. I will definitely try them again when I return in the area.
One of those places where it looks much better than it tastes--for the breakfast sandwich atleast. Croissant was good (read buttery), but the egg was flat (tasted like the pre-made stuff from frozen dinner meals) and so was the sausage. Served alongside those thick breakfast potatoes that everyone pretends to like. Total came to nearly $18. Think I prefer the $5 version from Dunkin more.
Full disclosure, Bakery Lorraine is typically busy. We decided to go early in the morning in order beat the wait, but mostly because we had to walk our dog. When you arrive at Bakery Lorraine you are immediately greeted by ample seating and a relaxed but cozy atmosphere. Ordering was a breeze and the staff were friendly as well, offering a pup cup to our dog. They serve a variety of breakfast foods, pastries, coffee, and so on. We decided to order a grilled cheese with roasted potatoes and a chai latte (they come in mugs if you dine in, if you care about that kind of stuff). They bring it out to you which is nice, especially when you fine outdoors. The chai latte came first and was phenomenal. We like whole milk for the thicker texture and that's exactly what we got. The spice of the chai was perfect and with the cinnamon powder finish there's not enough good we can say about it. The grilled cheese was good, not great. It came on toasted sourdough bread which is the better bread choice, sorry to those who prefer white. It was made with white cheese that was tasty, just not the way we like it as we prefer yellow cheese. It is by no means a bad sandwich and this could very simply be chalked up to a difference in preferences. I would still recommend it as a sandwich and we look forward to trying the other ones that they have in the future. As for the roasted potatoes, we were not fans. The potatoes were very skin heavy giving it an almost filmy taste on some. The seasoning was good and they were cooked well, it's just the texture that was a bit of a throw off. Ultimately, Bakery Lorraine is a great cafe that fits well into the premium retail space the Domain offers. Busy or not we recommend it as a stop for their great drinks and strong food options.
We were here twice and I loved it both times - the pastries and the coffee they have are inventive and taste great. Ambiance was very sunny - can be really busy because it's on the Domain though. Good service but sometimes the staff will not collect the number tags for your order.
This location is great and a good choice for an iced almond milk latte. Their coffee and espresso quality is pretty good. I really enjoyed the fruit tart and macarons. The service is pretty fast as you just order at the counter and pick up your drinks like at any other coffee shop. There's a good amount of seating inside.
We came here twice during our trip to Austin. Their food is just too good! Not only is their coffee tasty and creamy, but their sandwiches and pastries are also filled with great flavor and the perfect texture. Not once was anything bland or soggy. Just yummy and as crispy as they should be. Their desserts are also pretty good and have pretty unique flavors. A great place to get a quick bite to eat and expect good results! read more
Yes I am a harsh critique. If you are going to charge $4 for a croissant in Austin, I am going to compare it to $4 in big cities (because that is what you are charging me! Big city prices). - almond croissant and normal croissant, unfortunately were hard and generic. - croque monsieur - did not appear - avocado toast - did not appear - Coffee - if you are happy with the standard filtered coffee then you'll be happy. My expectation of coming to a higher end place like this is that the coffee is amazing. It wasn't. I'm happy Houndstooth is opening across the road. We waited for 30 mins for 2 sandwiches. Quite a long time for sandwiches. The seating is horrible! It's like outdoor furniture. If you call yourself a bakery, make sure your baked goods are amazing for what you are charging! I was super excited when I saw this had opened. I will give this place another go, but my expectations have definitely dropped The manager was kind enough to give us a voucher and a box of macarons. That was kind of her. If you haven't had much experience in good bakeries and don't mind over paying then you will like it. read more

Beloved San Antonio's Bakery Lorraine is finally in Austin. I've never been to any in San Antonio so this was my first experience all around. The interior is beautiful with lots of natural light coming in. I got several pastries and the sandwich and soup combo. The kouign amann- this was filled with a lemon cream custard??? This is bizarre. Traditionally kouign amanns don't have filling, this should have a sign saying lemon cream kouign amann. It's like buying a croissant labeled just croissant and eating it to realize they had put peanut butter in it or something. This to me was really weird and made me think they don't actually know what a kouign amann should be. Chocolate croissant- good, nothing above or below average. The ghost lemon pie- this was adorable and I liked the chewier texture of this! Macaron- this was awful, it just dissolves into powder in your mouth, macarons are supposed to have some chew to them. Ginger cookie- loved this! chewy and definitely very gingery. The chicken salad sandwich was good, I wish the bread was toasted. Toasting bread or at least having the option always wins points with me. The warm bread would have been a nice contrast to the cold chicken salad. The tomato soup- hands down my favorite thing I got. It was delicious I'd definitely come in for more of this. read more

Best quiche E-V-E-R!!! Flavors of bacon and cheese, commingled with just set fresh eggs in a crisped wheat crust with a first layer of browned buttered onions. Yes, this is really good quiche. Did I mention cheese? Oh yeah. There is a very delicious cheese note here. read more

Five star for the red velvet cake! It's so delicious I will definitely go back! But I do not recommend the opera cake. It was very strongly spiced and it tasted strange. read more
Bakery Lorraine was exactly what I needed after running a Half Marathon. A great celebration for a PR as well as a great way to satisfy my cravings for an amazing coffee cake and some black coffee as well. They are also great people as they are offering furloughed government employees a free pastry and coffee during the government shutdown. Props to you Bakery Lorraine! read more
We were here on a Friday late afternoon. I was super excited to try the baked goods here. So first impressions... the bakery/restaurant is not as open and airy as it looks in some of the pictures here on Yelp. The place was crowded but not super packed in case anyone's wondering whether that's the reason the place seemed small. It is really pretty inside. The staff was really friendly which I always appreciate. We tried a few of their baked goods - blueberry muffin, sausage jalapeño cheese kolache and the pastry with lemon curd. My favorite was definitely the blueberry muffin. Don't be intimidated by it's size... it's so light and fluffy that you can certainly polish off one by yourself. The kolache was alright... the puff pastry was the most delicious part of the kolache. The sausage was tasty but a tad bit cold for my taste. It didn't bring the puff pastry together. The pastry with lemon curd was pretty good. Again, the consistency of the pastry was spot on and the lemon curd was tasty. I definitely want to go back again to try their quiche and some more pastries. I do wish they had a mocha frappe on their menu. They only do a regular cold coffee. All in all, a neat place for a pit stop at the domain and nice to take out of towners as well. read more

Good! The croissant was nice and flaky; the almond croissant was a good flavor; strawberry pop tart was a bit sweet; jalapeño coloche was okay but the sausage was a bit chewy. read more
Loved this place. Went opening week and even thought their staff was just learning the menu and the flow of things, I still had pretty great service. That's a win in my book. More accessible than the San Antonio location. Park in the red garage and it's literally around the corner. Overall the feel was great and domain-like: white marble everywhere and bright. I tried their pumpkin cake, salmon salad (my friend wanted to add salmon after she got the salad and they gave it to her for free - good service there), egg salad on bread (I wanted a croissant, cut they gave me bread, but it tasted great so I didn't pursue my croissant - but definitely want to try it next time). Took home some of the mocha cake, macaroons, and fruit tart - all great. Really didn't try anything I didn't like and can't wait to come back for brunch and coffee (when there's not a boil notice going on). read more
Second time visiting this bakery and this time we actually wanted to try their food options. It was a Saturday morning and for some reason I didn't think it would be this packed but when the weather is great in Austin everyone and their mama will be at the domain. The line was not long when we got there at 10am but it was super busy still. We ordered and grabbed a table. The drinks came out pretty quick we ordered orange juice (organic) and a iced lattes. They don't offer any sugar free syrup options which was a bit of a bummer. Our food took a little longer to come out but we both ordered their quiche. One with veggies and goat cheese and the other with ham and cheese. They were both super good! And even came with some side potatoes those were delicious. The music was actually really good for a cafe/bakery haha. It does get a little loud since it started to get busier and the line was to the door but we still enjoyed our time. Overall great place with great food the food is a bit on the pricier side but the bakery items are worth it since you don't see those pasties at many bakeries. read more

I've been to Bakery Lorraine twice now, once just for dessert and another time for lunch, and I love it! The red berry almond cake was delicious and beautifully presented. The grilled cheese was maybe the best I've ever had! Several cheeses on sourdough with a light layer of apricot jam...YUM! The atmosphere is very cute and sophisticated, we sat outside and the patio could use a couple of fans for especially hot days. My only real hangup was that the service at the counter wasn't too friendly, but it may have just been an off day. I'll definitely be back for another grilled cheese soon! read more

OMG...this food was so good! Turkey Pesto sandwich with chicken velout soup... The broth of the soup was so good it did not even need the chicken. The place is very nice and clean and the staff very friendly. I will be back! read more

Been wanting to try this place out for the longest time but for one odd reason could never make it till now. Definitely a great place to sit, relax and sip on your favorite drink with there wide offerings of desserts. Since it was super hot outside I decided to try their ice cold chai latte. I went ahead and ordered some deserts as well. Took Macarons to go. While the fruity pastry was good Macarons we're just ok. Kinda reminds me of frozen Macarons from Costco. Still all good. Not that I eat them everyday. But overall the place is super clean, service on point, great staff and great food offerings. Will come back soon read more

Came here for dessert with the fam! Staff is super kind, fast and knowledgeable about all the pastries. Spent about $20 for 2 cheesecakes and a tart which is an okay price. The bakery is very clean, quiet and spacious. The dessert tasted amazing!! I've been here a few times and the desserts never fail me. The only thing I'd advise is for the staff to let the customers know to leave their plates on the table and they will pick them up or have a sign, every time I come here I forget and always feel awkward leaving all my trash sitting there in this nice bakery. Other than that, my experience was great! Will be back for sure. read more

I won a $25 gift card from Do512Family and I'm so glad that I did! This place is beautiful, clean, and the customer service is wonderful! It's all reasonably priced and the food is amazing! I had a rosé and a mimosa(happy hour $3) The Cuban sandwich was so delicious! I also had the chocolate moose cake and it was amazing. Everything was fresh and I will be coming back! They have a variety of pastries and desserts and I have to try them all! read more

My group and I had a variety of breakfast dishes and pastries. Coffee cake and pain au chocolate were very good! The staff overlooked my quiche order and I ended up waiting a few extra minutes. To compensate, they comped a 12 pack of macaroons! It was not necessary but extremely nice. Service was great, quiche was great, would absolutely come back read more

Pleasant lunch spot in the Domain. Tempting confections greet you when you walk up to the counter although today I abstained. Pleasant indoor and outdoor ambience. Friendly quick service. The grilled cheese is elevated with goat cheese in addition to the melted cheese. Tomato soup was a good balance of acid and cream. This will be a regular spot for work lunches for me. read more

I'm not sure why I never noticed this bakery here before because I'm always walking around the Domain. Well, I noticed at this time and it seemed interesting, so I went in. I really like the big windows in this place. It's got a lot of good natural light and a lot of seating. It's a mix of half booths and table-chair style. They have wine bottles displayed everywhere because you can get wine here- fancy! I thought that was pretty unique because it's a bakery. It has a very nice menu of baked items. Had I not just gotten ice cream beforehand I would have probably gotten the cinnamon roll. Next time for that. This time however, I got a matcha drink and asked for extra matcha. They actually did add extra matcha because I could tell that there was quite a bit of matcha in there. That was pretty impressive because most places when you ask for extra, they don't really add a lot extra. This is definitely a place you can count on to listen to you and your preferences. I also really like that on every table there was hand sanitizer. As things start going to "normal" again, businesses are getting a little bit more relaxed on their mask protocols and hand sanitizer availability. On their door, they had a sign saying they highly encourage masks. I appreciated that and with the hand sanitizer everywhere, we can all stay a bit safer while enjoying our time at this bakery. I can't wait to come back and try out some of the other items! read more
