Worth the wait! Came here on a Sunday hankering for something sweet then pivoted to the savory route for their egg sandwiches. They use croissant bread (?!) the most perfect fluffy eggs...one: with perfectly crispy bacon and cheese (added sriracha mayo) & two: Caramelized onions, tomatoes and arugula...(added sun-dried tomato spread.) UNBELIEVABLY good. We got two sweet treats to go. The chocolate croissant was huge and you can really taste the quality of the butter, fab lamination and the other pastry was like a danish put in a muffin tin with this vanilla bean custard that reminded me of creme brûlée. Tried the cruffin this time after seeing so much about it on their Instagram and it was awesome! Definitely worth it and the croissant was great as always. Everything is made with sourdough, yet their pastries are so incredibly flaky I have no idea how they do it. I'm definitely a pastry connoisseur and they are the real deal. It's in a great location on Tennyson street and there is always free parking in the area. They also have a great selection of gourmet products in the fridge and awesome food books!! After hearing raving reviews about Bakery Four, I had to give it a try. I went on a Saturday morning, so I joined the line that was already forming outside by 7:15 am (they open at 8 but sell out quickly on weekends). In addition to their classic croissants and morning buns, they have seasonal flavors/pastries that are always changing- you can find their menu on their Instagram stories or they set a chalkboard outside of the bakery. The bakery is small and because of COVID precautions they were only letting one customer/group inside at a time, but they're so efficient and the line moves quickly! I got a butter croissant, chocolate croissant, morning bun, a seasonal danish (raspberry lemon), and a loaf of bread. Their pastries are so light and buttery, very crisp on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. The morning bun had so many lovely spices and a great hint of citrus. The loaf was delicious on its own, but also made great sandwiches and croutons. There's a reason why there's always a line outside of the bakery and why they sell out so fast- they're just so dang good! Great bakery in the Tennyson area This place always has a really long line so I recommend showing up a few minutes before opening or really late. You can expect to be in line for about 20 minutes but it's definitely worth it. They're not a lot of bakeries of this caliber in Denver. They put a lot of tear into their food items and experience. On New Year's day last year, I made it a point to eat healthy, and we all saw how 2020 went, so I figured New Year's Day this year, the best thing I could do was check out Bakery Four and all of its fattening, buttery goodness. WOW. I got in line at around 7:30 AM and got to the front of the bakery at 8:25. There were about 15 parties ahead of me in line. Everybody in line was wearing a mask and standing 6 feet apart. When I made it into the bakery, everything on the menu was still available (even bread!) and nothing had sold out yet. I got a pain au chocolat and a morning bun. Too good. I'm not a croissant connoisseur, but I was impressed, and these pastries have officially created some very high standards in my book. Just wow! One of the most affordable and delectable bakeries in denver! In a quaint spot on Tennyson. Well organized with staff helping with drinks, pastries and checkout so the line moves quick. Bakery Four has some of the best, if not the best, pastry available in Denver. What makes them so great is their high quality ingredients. They use French butter, Valrhona chocolate, fresh cardamom pods, etc. which take their pastries to another level. My personal favorites are the morning bun (which is beautifully scented with citrus to offset the generous sugar coating) and cardamom bun (with a deliciously spicy cardamom flavor from fresh cardamom pods). The croissants are also perfectly flakey. Most of their menu is the same each week, except for a few seasonal items. Get a box so you can try them all! Bakery Four is open 8am-1pm Thurs-Sun. Lines begin to form around 7:30am so go early if you want don't want to wait for long. That being said, I've never waited longer than 30 min from end of line to counter and they continue to bake throughout the morning so you don't have to worry about supply running out. read more

This is not a bakery that can be chosen on a whim. It is only open three days a week for two hours and that's if they don't sell out before the two hour mark. I'd been wanting to come for a couple weeks now and today ended up being the day. I got there 15 minutes before opening and figured the line would be manageable. What I did not expect was a line down the street and around the block. It was quite cold and the total wait time was a touch over an hour. I was so happy that I got the second to last lemon cruffin and the morning buns. The bread too was an unexpected score and it ended up being my favorite thing. The pastry is well made with an almost perfect lamination. The outside is crisp with a tender inside. The morning bun had just a hint of orange and the right amount of cinnamon. The hubs really enjoyed his lemon cruffin and his morning bun as well. I cut into the bread and it was still warm with a really nice chew and well developed sourdough crumb. This is definitely a treat all the way around so if you have some time to spare on a weekend, I'd highly recommend it! read more

This place is AMAZING. I got the thanksgiving pastry box, which was a surprise assortment, and my family and I were swooning over it. And, we maybe should just judge bakeries on their carbs ...... but over the years it's become a trustworthy trend for me that the best bakeries also serve darn good coffee (especially mochas, because they choose good chocolate). That is no longer the case at Bakery Four. For a while they were the best mocha I could get in the area. The last two? Devastatingly bad. AM/PM-coffee-bad. I THINK the beans and the chocolate got worse (no more Valrhona?) .... but it's honestly hard to tell because every aspect of the drinks has been so fantastically weak. Could all this be blamed on a new barista? Maybe. But it's on the bakery to QC this stuff. Two bad drinks in a row isn't a fluke. One of my favorite bakeries in Denver. Their pastries are rich, and consistent in taste. Their bagels are also amazing, so I'm glad they've opened rich spirit. I've also tried their dinner, which was amazing. Everything is fresh, and it deserves the long lines it gets. My only critique is that it's not the best place for coffee and drinks, but it's not supposed to be what they're known for anyway. Curse myself for forgetting to take pictures of the actual pastries after greedily devouring them! The interior is so cute I feel like I can study there for hours. The bread and pastries themselves are so high-quality and tasty, it's the type where people would camp out hours early before they open just so they can have first dips on the variety of breads they have. By the time I got there, there was still a few to choose from but not nearly as much as there would have been if I went there earlier. All the hype about this bakery are legit as are the long lines discussed in other reviews. Pastries and bread are among the best in Denver. Don't let the long lines discourage you, plan ahead and wait it out, you will be rewarded. The chocolate croissant and monkey bread are my favorites, as is the country loaf. Selection varies by day. Friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and a baked to near perfection (no one is perfect). And they no longer sell bagels at this location. Sounded like they do so at a new bagel location. Not sure where that is. We tried a number of pastries over the past year and have never been disappointed. Expect it to be busy, and to run out of things throughout the day. I got to the bakery about 45 min early 7:15am and the line was not bad, but if you waited later the line wraps around the block. Once the door opens the line moves through fairly quickly. They have a great staff inside and ready to help. I have been twice now and my favorite thing to order is the morning bun. It is a cinnamon roll but better.
