Great breakfast today with the family. Service was friendly and quick; especially for our larger group. Very clean. All our meals tasted good, fresh, and served hot. Chocolate chip pancakes were very good. Pies were great as well.

We came here on Christmas because it is one of the few places open and it was a wonderful experience. Our server was friendly, and they were decked out in festive wear, which was a nice touch. The food we had was remarkable. The teriyaki salmon was so good. I didn't order it, but I tried a bite and immediately made a mental note to order it next time. Nothing they served was bad. The price is right on point, too. For 3 people to get an entrée that comes with 2 sides and bread, drinks, plus a WHOLE pie ordered to take home, it ended up costing under $75. It's a very casual dining atmosphere, with booth and table seating. It's definitely worth checking out next time you want a diner type experience with amazing food.

We come here often and appreciate service and food. They added a new menu item: breakfast sandwich. A simple but good option. While all the waitresses are good, Amy stands out in her expertise in this role.

    The Works Burger

Went there for lunch. Had a small salad and "The Works Burger". The burger was really good. Cooked to perfection. The whole meal and experience was good. My server was Ceresa (CC). She was pleasant and attentive. Everyone there was nice and pleasant. I ordered 2 slices of pie to go. Peacan and French Silk. First time I tasted the French silk. It was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was perfect. It was quiet, and comfortable

It's tough to go wrong with a restaurant that has good food served with a smile. That's been my experience since returning to this restaurant after many years. It had been a family favorite when my kids were little 15 years ago, so I was very pleased to find nothing had changed. My 16-year-old daughter needed a little cheer and some good food, so my girlfriend and I took her to Bakers Square, mainly for all of us to enjoy some pie together. My daughter revealed that she hadn't eaten much, so she ordered the Grown-up Grilled Cheese sandwich. The portion size was much larger than we expected. Most places would have served a wimpy, thin sandwich. Not here. The cheeses served were piled on heartily and the pile of fries were more than she could eat. She wound up taking half her meal home. We returned another day, this time with my best friend along. I ordered the Bakers Club sandwich and my buddy warned me he couldn't finish his the last time he came. It was huge, and I did struggle to finish. I left a lot of fries on the plate to save room for the yummy Triple Berry pie, my favorite. My daughter had breakfast, served at 6:30 in the evening. A cheese omelette with home fries and a crepe, which she devoured...then had pie. Service both times was excellent. We never had to ask for refills and the servers were very pleasant and cheerful. My one and only ding on Bakers Square is their soft drink pricing. It disappoints me that they would charge $2.69 for a soda that was served with 3/4 of a glass of ice. My buddy and I each ordered sodas, so that was almost $6 for two glasses! My fault for not checking the menu on that. Total bill for all three of us came to $48, which included the main meals and a round of pies. Overall, a very good dining experience.

This review is strictly for the pies, nothing else! Baker Square pies are my absolute favorite. Baker Square left California several years ago, so when I passed by one in Ohio I stopped dead in my tracks and had to get some pie!!! French silk is my favorite!! Also European Truffle when it is in season. They also have a mighty yummy apple pie too!!! Baker Square come back to California!!!

We went to this bakers square location on a Sunday around 1:30 pm. It was pretty packed when we arrived. We got seated in about 5 mins. Our Waitress was friendly and explained any questions we had on the menu. I ended up getting California frittata and my other half got the veggie omlette. We opted for chocolate chip pancakes and pumpkin. Overall food was good. I loved the chocolate chip pancakes !

We have recommended your restaurant to many people, especially praising your salad bar for its freshness, quality, and variety. We've also ordered the AYCE fish fry many times -- including nearly every Friday during Lent last year -- and it has always been crispy, well‑drained, and never greasy. This visit, however, fell far below the standards we have come to expect. From the moment we were seated, the experience was noticeably different. The hostess did not ask for drink orders, which has always been standard. Our server -- slightly heavy‑set with a long black ponytail -- appeared disengaged and gave the clear impression that she did not want to be there. We confirmed with her that the AYCE fish was $12.99 and included all‑you‑can‑eat soup and salad, exactly as we were told earlier in the day when we called. Her response was, "She always tells people that, but it's one trip." Despite the inconsistency, we proceeded and requested the fish extra crispy and well‑drained. We waited at least 30 minutes for the first round of fish, even though only two other tables were occupied and they already had their food. When the fish finally arrived, it was extremely greasy, not crispy, and the bottoms were completely soggy. When we pointed this out, the server simply said, "I told him," offering no apology, no concern, and no attempt to resolve the issue. She took the fish back to have it remade. She returned shortly after and removed our sides without explanation. The second order of fish was still dripping with grease. Grease was visibly pooled in the breading, as if it had come straight from the fryer without being drained at all. We asked another employee if she was the manager. She said no but asked what was wrong. As we began explaining, the manager, Heather, approached. At that same moment, the server stood behind me and said, "Oh, they're not happy with that either." Heather also showed no empathy, no apology, and no effort to correct the situation. Her demeanor was irritated and dismissive from the start. We told Heather to remove the fish from the bill. She agreed but insisted we still had to pay for the soup and salad. She then brought a bill for nearly $30, charging us for AYCE soup and salad even though we each had only one cup of soup and one small salad. When we questioned this, Heather became visibly annoyed and said she would instead charge us for a side salad and a cup of soup. We explained that the fish has never been like this before. Heather's response was, "Then go out to Madison, they have the same fish there." This was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. When we went to pay, we informed Heather that we were veterans. She applied the discount to only one meal. When I told her I was also a veteran, she said, "Oh, you're a veteran too? Well, I need to see ID." This was disrespectful and unnecessary, especially after she acknowledged she recognized us from previous visits. My husband was wearing a veteran jacket, yet she still demanded to see his ID as well. Heather then brought up the fish again, stating it "looked perfectly fine" to her. When I explained the amount of grease on the napkin and on my hands, she dismissed it, saying, "It's deep fried, there's going to be grease," and repeated that it looked fine. As I calmly explained that it had never been served this way before, she told me I was "getting out of control." At no point did I raise my voice -- I was simply explaining the issue. After that comment, I stepped outside while my husband finished paying. He later told me that Heather was speaking about me in front of him to another employee, again calling me "out of control," and told the server she wasn't getting a tip. It is clear that something has changed. The friendly, attentive, welcoming atmosphere that once set your restaurant apart is gone. The staff now appear disengaged, unprofessional, and uninterested in providing quality service. We no longer see any of the kind servers who made dining here enjoyable. We are extremely disappointed by how this visit was handled from start to finish. We hope management takes this feedback seriously. We have supported your restaurant since your grand opening, and we would like to feel confident returning -- but based on this experience, that is not possible unless significant improvements are made.

Inside is a busy dining room with roughhewn decor, lots of light wood and plenty of fish items. The open kitchen takes up one wall with counter seating, then some 2 person booths and a step up to bigger booths with menu chalkboards. The menu is divided between breakfast and lunch/dinner. Fairly classic diner menu with the significant difference of steelhead trout as a protein option. I ordered the seafood chowder and the steelhead hash. The soup came out in a minute or two, a very nicely presented small bowl of thick chowder stuffed with shrimp, fish and seafood, nicely seasoned and topped with some green onions. The chowder was delicious and very hearty. The hash was out a couple of minutes later, a plate loaded with diced potatoes, onions, peppers and pieces of steelhead trout topped with 3 over medium eggs and sided with 2 homemade biscuits. The hash was very nice, although if I get it again I would ask them to crisp up the potatoes, the trout works nicely as it is a mild fish with just enough flavor to stand up to the hash, the eggs were tasty and the biscuits were excellent. Overall a delicious and satisfying dish. Chagrin River Diner is a real find, it serves upscale diner food in a comfortable environment at reasonable prices. Service was great, the atmosphere is unique for the area, this place would feel right at home in a Rocky Mountain resort town. I will be back to Chagrin River Diner and try some of the other menu items.
