Best banh mi place based on my experience. I've been coming here since I was little and now I walk away spending $40 instead of my parents. The only place where I can get banh mi Xiu Mai. Not even in California can I get them. Xiu Mai is meatball so their version of a meatball sandwich but sooo much better. Their pastries are wonderful as well. Great bread, good value, mediocre filling. Date of Visit: 9/19/16 I found my favorite Bahn Mi spot closed on Mondays, but noticed that Baker's Palace was quite close, and open, so I gave it a go. It's a quite small spot with a carryout area and very friendly service. As far as the sandwiches themselves, they have probably the best baguettes you'll find in the area. I'm not a bread-head, but these were *legit*. That said, I the fillings were lacking a bit in both seasoning and amount, including both meats and veggies. You'd never mistake this place for a Palace... I've learned that when you are in Italy, ask the locals. Wow, I haven't been here since they changed owners... which has probably been a couple of years. The last owners were great, so I really didn't think the new ones would be able to live up to the previous owners, I was wrong. Been coming here since I was young and everything still tastes the same. One of my go-to bakery whenever I'm craving a Vietnamese Banh Mi Sandwich. I always go for the combination with head cheese ( it's the last number) and it has extra BBQ meat in it. It depends on who you deal with but they will give you a side of sauce to smoother on top of your sandwich. The people here are super friendly! Also, if you buy 5 sandwiches, you get one free. This was one of my favorite bánh mì shops from my childhood, went here today with my mother since we were nearby, thought we stop in to get chè (Vietnamese dessert drink) it was disappointing we ordered 2 #9 and the sad part was there was barely any fruits in the drinks one slice of Jack fruit that's it, it's filled with jelly but one small piece of Jack fruit that was probably rotting tasted very bitter and quiet soggy, ice took most of the space in the cup barely any coconut milk, for the bánh mì thịt, it was good as always nothing much had changed. I can't believe I didn't review this place yet, I've bought their sandwhiches about 30 times or so and have only had 2 quality issues I can think of out of 60 or 90 sandwhiches over that time. They did start selling a lot of new items, so I'm not that bummed out over some dry meat on occasion... If you are on a budget after a long day of drinking expensive coffee down town, head over here. It is by far the cheapest sandwich you will find in town - especially being made on an in house, fresh made baguette. Most Bahn Mi sammiches on the board are $2.75. I dig on the chicken or the pork. As an added bonus, they have a pretty good Bahn Bao - steamed bun with Vietnamese sausage and half a boiled egg. It's only $2.00. I haven't tried it lately, but I use to get extra veggies added for no extra charge. What can I say, I'm a sucker for that stuff. Except for the Jalapeños, normal dose for me, they get some dang hot ones sometimes. If you are feeling bold, try some of the deserts or special items in the display case. But it was freaking DEEEEE-LISH! The bread is perfect: Crusty yet yeasty goodness, with just enough give for a proper bite. The toppings: Well. I don't know. Definitely some porkish stuffs in there. There was a ham-type. Definitely a roasted or boiled then sliced pork with a hint of 5-Spice seasoning. There was a Pate-esque spread. This small shop, is not as modern as some of the other ones on Federal. They had an interesting item the dried pork, it was very dry, and kind of like eating rope. It had good flavor though. I love the bread here. It's so yummy and perfect for anything I stick in between it. But I docked a star because my favorite thing to order at any banh mi place is "banh mi pate." And unfortunately, the pate here is not a contender. My mom loves the sandwiches here because they offer something here that Ba Le doesn't. So when she does come here, I take advantage of the free sandwich. But the pate here is really salty. Numerous times I've tried it and it's still the same overly salty taste. I love this place, I used to go here every weekend to pick up a banh mi and nuoc mia. This place has been a stable in my life and I've told everyone I meet about this place. Their banh mi is one of the best and cheaper ones in federal. The ingredients are super fresh, and it reminded me of when I used to live in Vietnam. I tried other places like new Saigon, or ba le, but their banh mi never really hit the right spot. My favorites from here is the banh pa ti so, banh bao, and nuoc mia. The owner is super nice and friendly. I love this place cause it's ran by a small family who just want to make a living. My organization would always use this place to cater for our fundraisers and everyone is always in awes with the amazing taste. The banh bao is super light and airy which is perfect. The sandwiches, banh mi, here are delicious. The bread is very flavorful, has the right consistency of crunch and chewy, without being flat or too dry. The selection of meats is pretty broad and each sandwich comes with a good sized amount including the traditional toppings. Bakers Palace ("BP") also sells very tasty glutinous rice dishes and steamed buns. They offer one steamed bun in particular that is filled with a hard boiled quail egg and a delicious spicy sweet pork meatball. If you are not feeling the sandwich you should consider the glutinous rice topped with chicken, Chinese sausage, and green onion. Add a little soy sauce and Siracha and you will have a delicious, filling, and inexpensive meal. For something sweet, try the glutinous rice balls with coconut cream sauce. Over two bites of chewy, not overly sweet, refreshing taste sensation. Two sizable sandwiches, two steam buns, two Vietnamese summer rolls, one rice chicken and sausage, and one order of the coconut rice. All under $20.00. If only BP was all over Denver. Replace every Quiznos with a BP and the world would be a remarkably better place. read more

There are usually a host of varieties available, and at Bakers Palace, I think there were about 10 options to choose from. When I make a "best value" list, these Vietnamese sandwiches will be on it. At $2.75 per sandwich, you feel as though you're buying it in Saigon with American dollars. The bread was great - crusty yet soft - I could hear the crackle when I squeezed the sandwich in my hands. However, their tortas are made Vietnamese style, which makes them banh mi - a Vietnamese spin on the baguette sandwiches popularized during the French occupation of Indochina. The bakery from which it carries different cultural desserts bring an awful lot of desire for more when it comes to these sandwich shops. You can mostly find it here in S Federal where most of Asian stores and bakeries are found.
