    3.5 stars. I accidentally discovered VINH XUONG BAKERY when we went to the Far East Center on Federal Boulevard to have dinner at Pho Hong on the evening of Wednesday, June 19, 2024, and parked right in front of the bakery. I had to go inside and check them out. At the time of our visit, the venue could welcome no more than an estimated six patrons at a time inside. Basically, a hole in the wall. Upon entry, we were met with a table that was set about three to four feet from the front door that served as the counter for ordering, a fridge of cold food items for sale, and a wall of shelves offering packaged dried fruits and other sweets. Adjacent to the front table was a metal rack of baked goods like sesame balls, almond cookies, Chinese donuts, etc. Yelp shows some photos of a much bigger space that was open to customers. Those days are long gone and if the place is still at the same exact location, I didn't see any trace of its prior semblance. I was very excited to find one of my favourite pastries found only at Vietnamese establishments, pate chaud. I bought three at $5 each to bring home as well as a couple of che from the fridge; Che Bap (coconut milk, tapioca pearl, sugar, corn, pandan, salt) & Che Ba Ba (Coconut milk, Tapioca pearls, Taro, Sweet potatoes, Yam, Sugar) at $3.50 each. My digital receipt's total came out to $23.76 for the five items plus tax. Everything that I purchased was yummy. Service was nice and friendly. I did feel like I was blindly buying things, though, because I didn't see price tags on anything and there were no prices posted anywhere. I found out pricing only after I received my receipt. Three things that I wish: 1. They would revert to their original bakery layout. The previous store interior appeared much more welcoming and just looked WAY better for a customer experience. 2. Prices would be posted. 3. There was another VINH XUONG BAKERY nearby my house. I would be a regular!

    A hole in the wall. It's a tiny restaurant with no menu. You come in and order banh mi according to what the owner tells you. Lol. They have some Asian baked goods and they are bombs.

    Craven moon cake and was excited they had different varieties to make into a box. I like picking my own and don't like pre boxes where they're all one flavor only. Auntie was so nice and placed my selections into the box. Got rang up and then we were good to go. Yum!

    MAGGOTS IN MY BANH MI??! I AM TRAUMATIZED!!! This is completely unethical. This is beyond a health code violation. I am left speechless and full of disgust. To think I let my family eat here because they served banh mi. But this is just so wrong. Children ate these!! Be sure to check your food! If it's gotten to the point of maggots, that just means you don't even care anymore. I don't want them to be shut down, I want them to do better!! It was still moving :'}

    5th for 2022 It has been awhile since my visit and ... and the whole place.... is in shambles. That was my 1st observation. They have moved everything around and made the place look like a fort with plastic screen to separate the customers from the rest of the bakery. This made it very hard to see what they had to offer and I could not even see the menu. My mission for the day was to order bahn mi and compare to Bale La and could not make out the choices since I couldn't really see anything. After confirming with the owner, yes, bahn mi is available and did not know what to get but did see glimpse of combination and that's what I ordered. Came back after few minutes and it was ready and $6 was the damage. Brought it home and opened it up about 2 hours after ordering it. To my surprise, the bread was still crunch, filled with plenty of sliced assorted meats and pickled vegies and spreads. It was pretty large sandwich for $6 and definitely worth it. I think Ba Le has it for about $5 but lot skinnier and also bread is different. Vinh Xuong offers bread that is closer to Italian (softer crust) verses Ba Le being closer to French banquette with hard crust. Only down side is I did not see Vietnamese coffee and I had to go to another store.

    CHECK YOUR FOOD! omg I don't even know where to even start because I am still in shock right now. I am currently pregnant and I was craving for a vietnamese sandwich, of course other places were close on a Tuesday. There were a couple of things I wish they did for the customers which were putting a menu somewhere, or have the prices somewhere so we know how much everything costs and what they have. We ended up spending like 50$ here, which was a lot but we decided to support small family own businesses. Anyways, the DOWNSIDE TO ALL OF THIS! Was I found MAGGOTS IN MY SANDWICHES!!! I ate half of my sandwich and then when I tore my daughters sandwich in half, I saw something moving and squirming! OMG I couldn't believe my eyes!!! I threw everything I bought from them today, from desserts, steam buns, sandwich's and other small bakery items. I am in complete disgust. My boyfriend didn't finish his sandwich at first because his meat was still frozen so he ended up throwing it away. I honestly CAN'T believe they're getting away with serving food like this to customers and allowing it to happen. I will be contacting the owners about this because this is just so wrong especially when serving it to a pregnant woman! I'll be attaching photos.

    A textbook Banh Mi at a total hole-in-the-wall spot off Federal Blvd. From my research, Vinh Xuong has been a staple in Denver for the last few decades. The legends remains in tact. Look man, I would do highly regrettable things in order to stuff a Banh Mi in my face. I've been conducting an unofficial "find the best Banh Mi in Denver tour." It's amazing how high the quality is here! Before I moved from Florida, I had no idea about the Vietnamese population in Denver and their prominence in the local culinary scene. Now the bakery doesn't stand alone as a date night destination. The space is thrown together with cardboard boxes, random shelving, and an interior that has seen better days. At the end of the day, you're not coming here for chic atmosphere, you're coming here for outrageous Vietnamese grab and go foods. And damn, the Grilled Pork Banh Mi is phenomenal. Juicy, tangy and crunchy decadence. At $5, I don't understand how there's not a line wrapped around the building at all times. If you can get passed the ambiance, you won't regret visiting!

    I'm a regular at this place. The grilled pork bahn-mi is my favorite. I recently tried the tofu bahn-mi with avocado and it was very tasty. Adding the chile oil and jalapeños gives these sandwiches a kick of flavor without being too spicy. The staff is friendly and quick and the fresh baked bread is amazing!

    Came here for a late lunch - and it lives up to the hype. I only wish I lived closer because I would come once a week. The bahn mi sandwiches are hugeeee and the pork is so flavorful, the vegetables are seasoned perfectly and love the crunch from the cucumber. The bread is fresh and soft. Absolutely delicious and the best part is - only a 5 min wait and I was able to eat outside (they have a few tables) with our dog. Can't wait to come back.

    Combination banh-mi with rice paper wrap and chili oil
    Tommy S.

    We tried two combination banh-mis: a regular one made with a short baguette and another one made with rice paper wrap. The regular one was fantastic, with just the right amount of meat and fillings. Along with the bread, each bite was better than the last. The one made with rice paper is a good alternative for someone who wants to avoid bread, but I can't say that it's as good as the regular version. All in all, service was good, food was great, and the price was adequate. I would return. By the way, I would recommend against ordering on their website (vinhxuong.square.site) because the tax rate seems to be off (21% instead of 8%).

    Right side of fridge - coconut based sweets and buns.

We ordered the fried tofu (with peppers and onions), orange chicken, fried fish fillet, and veggie delight (mixed veggies). The fried fish fillet was definitely the standout. Perfectly crispy on the outside with a light, tangy layer of sauce that added flavor without making it soggy. Easily my favorite dish of the meal. The fried tofu was also really solid and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The peppers and onions complemented it well without overpowering the tofu itself. The orange chicken was okay. I tend to compare orange chicken to Panda Express (probably unfair, but it's my benchmark), and this one didn't quite hit that same balance of crispiness and sauce. I think if it had a bit more meat within each piece, would be better. The mixed vegetables were decent but not something I'd order again. They felt a bit drenched in sauce and didn't have much depth in flavor. One of the highlights of the visit was meeting an elderly woman who helps out when it gets busy. She mentioned she was the former owner. She was incredibly kind, and we ended up having a really nice conversation in Mandarin. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable. Otherwise, really nice venue with lots of space and tables. Waiters always refilled my water, which is a good plus. Also gave me fresh rice when I took the leftovers to go. Overall, a solid meal with a couple standout dishes. I'd definitely come back for the fried fish fillet and tofu. Will be back to try their other dishes.
