Amazing. Simply amazing. I had the Happy Farmer as my main breakfast and was really happy with my meal. It had pancakes, Sausage, and Home Fries. Oh my.....where is the 10 star option?? This place is the best breakfast on the east coast...strong statement but Im sticking to it. Everything was perfect with impecible service. The butter syrup has neither butter or syrup but will leave you with a dopamine rush that will last the entire day. Its that amazing so be sure to get a jar to go. The chicken and waffles were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Freshly breaded chicken with an incredibly delicious coating pared with a crisp, light, and fluffy waffel covered in butter syrup. It fed two people with left overs. 10/10 reccomend!! The potato casserol was bomb and that is another "dont miss." Finally, warm fresh cinnamon rolls as big as a toddlers head. When this place first open my food was basically made to order always hot and fresh. I feel like today when we ate there the food was good but it was basically done in 2 minutes my food was not hot more like something that had already been cooked and sitting in a warming tray. They were out of the sweet potato biscuits which is the main reason for coming. My waitress was super nice I just don't feel like it was worth the hour wait time like it used to be. I have nothing bad per say but it's just not what it was when it first opened. They set the bar really high when they first opened so I had higher expectations from this place! I visited Baker's kitchen for breakfast around 9:45 AM, it was my first time . I was put on a waiting list and I was sat within 10 minutes of waiting. Once I got seated I got a server who was very assertive & nasty to me. Her disposition was off and when I asked questions, I felt like it was a "problem" or a burden from her reaction to simply do her job and answer them to the best of her ability. Once the order was place it took less than 15 minutes for the food to come out which threw me off completely, just for the eggs to look like they have been fried in some grease instead of scrambled , the bacon was hard as HELL and tasted disgusting and the only decent thing was the cinnamon toast crunch pancake, which after a while was soggy as FUCK . I couldn't even tell you the servers name because she didn't give it to me, NEVER GO highly do not recommend. read more

We arrived when they opened at 7:00. Margaret was our server and was so pleasant! The atmosphere was comfortable and had a country feel to it. It is spacious inside. My coffee was piping hot and very good. Breakfast choices were plentiful. I ordered the Farmers Wife. It was a wonderful meal! Don't bother with checking in online. We checked in online and the waited inside for two hours to be seated before we were informed that even though we had checked in online we still needed to have the hostess add our name to the list when we walked in. There is no signs posted stating this and when you check in online it stays "You are all checked in". This negates the point of checking in online and has never been a thing any other time we have ate here. We normally check in online walk in have our name called and be seated. We have been eating at bakers for years and this is a first. But just a word of caution if you plan on checking in online. read more

I stopped here for lunch after flying into New Bern on a Thursday afternoon. There was about a 5 minute wait for a table for one and based on what I've read, waiting here is not unusual. I was seated and quickly greeted by a friendly waitress who took my order. I opted for the meatlovers omelet with wheat toast and because I was eyeing up the food of the customer next to me, a side of sweet potato fries. The omelet was delicious! Very thin egg layers which was actually nice and super heavy on the meat which was OK by me! The fries were so so good, especially with the butter syrup to dip them in. My only slight complaint was the toast was under toasted and needed more butter. But that wasn't enough to dock a star from this meal. The prices were reasonable, the service was spot on, the place was clean, and everyone was friendly. If you are looking for a local family friendly location to eat between 7-2, this is it! read more
