I'm still thinking about the baked goods from this place and trying to think of a good reason to go back! This quaint, unassuming spot in Bloor West Village is exactly where you should go to satisfy your sweet tooth. Its selection isn't huge but you can preorder. It was a one-staff operation who was attentive and kept the constant stream of people moving. We bought a variety of baked goods and a small bowl of Kawartha Dairy ice cream. The ice cream was good but nothing in comparison to the baked goods. I'm not usually a macaron fan but their bubble gum one was so flavourful, I'm glad my son didn't eat all of it. We also tried the cotton Candy one which merely tasted like sugar. I got one of their squares which was sweet and tart at the same time. Been to bake sale three times now. Love the smaller sized cupcakes. They are always just the perfect size for a fun little treat. At $2 each they are hard to pass up. The first time I had the snickerdoodle cupcake. It was delicious and tasted like the icing from Dunkaroos I used to eat as a kid. The second time i had a lemon flavoured one which had a overpowering lemony kick to it. Thankfully I enjoy lemon flavour because that one had a generous helping of it. This time i got the special st Patrick's day themed one. It didn't have a specific flavour like some of the other ones but was too cute to pass up. This visit my boyfriend and I brought friends that were visiting from out of town. We each got a mini cupcake and they also got a brownie. Got their cupcakes for a birthday. I ate the vanilla and it was so good. Moist and flavourful and the icing amazing. My friends gobbled down the red velvet. I wasn't as sold on the lemon because I like tart. Special mention- the scones. Not dry and floury as so many are. And I ate one the next day with butter. Best I've had locally. I'm not sure if I happen to walk in on an off day for this bakery but it seems that I did. I purchased the strawberry vanilla cake. I brought it home with anticipation that I would satisfy my sweet tooth. But, it was not at all what I expect. And not in a good way. The cake was dry and the icing was so sugary. I honestly got sick from the cake. It upset my stomach and my whole family was ill. I will never buy anything from them again. read more

oh em...gee. This place has the one of the richest, moist-est cupcakes I've ever had. I had the 6 minis for 9.50 and I loved every single flavor. My boyfriend and I ordered nutella, salty caramel, carrot, chocolate, red velvet, and strawberry. Chocolate was crazily rich, nutella I had last because it's just cool, and the red velvet was so bomb. All of them were generally tasty. It's a cute cupcake shop near Runnymeade station and very walkable. I recommend trying minis so you get to taste more flavors. The big cupcakes are good if you know what flavor you already like and want a bigger portion! read more

My friend brought some peanut butter cookies and half a dozen cupcakes to my house for Easter Sunday dinner. Cupcakes were half price after 3:00 so about $1.90 each. The cookies were smooth deliciousness topped with a dollop of chocolate. I have been going to The Bake Sale since they opened on Bloor at Montgomery, their first location a number of years ago! I even have their phone number on my Favourites on my cell phone! I am totally addicted to their frozen chocolate chip cookies which I buy weekly and I'm waiting for the double chocolate cookies to be frozen too. The staff is lovely and always very helpful and if you want fresh and moist chocolate cake this is the bakery to go to! As I was walking by the macarons in the window caught my eye so I decided to take a peek at what they had. I was pleasantly surprised! After visiting many other bake shops in bloor west this was the only one at which I found macarons. At $2.25 a piece that ranks in at about standard pricing. They have quite the selection including but not limited to salted caramel, chocolate, cappuccino and the good ol pistachio. They also have a great selection of cupcakes, brownies, cookies and much more. I decided to try the salted caramel and chocolate macarons and split a skor brownie with my SO. The macarons were perfect... had feet, the right texture, and a very tasty ganache in both. I especially loved the salted caramel. The skor brownie was huge, moist and had two big skor chunks in the top of it. Absolutely loved it, so did my SO. Well worth the $3.35! We will definitely be returning. They have a very tasty, wide selection of yummy treats and cakes at an affordable price. read more

As much as I would like to love this place (I'm a huge fan of cupcakes!) I just simply do not! The cupcakes are all so dry!! Thank goodness for the icing or you wouldn't be able to swallow them!? The cupcakes here are amazing!!! Super moist, very flavourful without being overly sweet. The carrot cake cupcake is my favourite.

I liked the cupcakes the last times I bought from here, but the most recent time was unfortunately a disappointment. I'm not sure if it was just a bad day. The cupcakes were good, however, the icing was not up to par. It was not real buttercream, dry, and had a sugary artificial taste. Im ok with the expense of cupcakes, but I just expect them to really be quality. These just tasted cheap. Like I could have gotten the same off the shelf at a grocery store (and not the fancy display stuff) Great flavors though, and really cute. I would go back to see if it was a one off, or if I should go elsewhere from now on. read more

I have been to both Bake Sale locations on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Their windows always have SUPER cute displays that draw you right in. And once you're in, it's heaven for the senses. Adore their mini cupcakes, but their cakes are divine too! Can't go wrong with a Bake Sale product. read more
