After our Mid-Autumn Festival dinner, I insisted we hunt for mooncakes even though most bakeries were probably closed. That's how I wound up at Bake Culture, where we gorged on the perfectly made (though pricey) Purple Taro and Red Bean mini-Mooncakes. The Condensed Milk Bun was a disappointment--not enough filling, but the classic Coconut Bun was perfect. While Chinese/Taiwanese bakeries abound here, Bake Culture edges out in my memory by being open late enough to make a good post-dinner dessert spot. Also gotta love the seat backs that are shaped like croissants and baguettes.

Chocolate Croissant Crisp is so delicious.

I went in a around 130pm ,not a particular busy time for bakeries so it was not crowded ( just 2 other customers sitting) I had time to make my selection because no one else was there. I like tjat the items are pre packaged ,especially when it's a self serve situation ( no grubby hands all over my food) The lady behind the counter was eating ( probably the only downtime she had ) but she'd greeted me and told me she would make the coffee I ordered when I was done with my selection . There was a good selection of treats . I picked out a few items and got my coffee. I stayed for a bit enjoying the coffee, charging my phone ( there are outlets) and indulged in the pasties. It's a clean bakery, modern aesthetic and they have good prices. I'd come back again when I'm in the area.

On the way to the subway stop after lunch, Age and I passed Bake Culture. This is a fairly small cozy cafe on the Bowery near Canal. It seems similar to the Korean bakeries with trays to place your picks. The large cream covered cakes look aesthetically beautiful. I saw a large croissant crisp cookie that was half covered in chocolate. One cost $4.99 and three were for $10. I bought one and ate it at home. When I opened the package the cookie immediately deflated as so eating it had no pleasure. Even though it had nuts in it the cookie was soggy and I felt sad. After paying, I spied a parfait that looked tasty and plan to go there again to have it. Seating was attractive and service was kind.

This reminds me of many new American bakery chains such as Paris baguette. Located on Bowery below Bowery hotel. Petite location with dine in seating. You can pick prepared bakery items and cafe drink options from boba to lattes. Reasonably priced yet didn't care for the pastries. The taro boba was decent and there's milk substitute available. Service is professional despite one person preparing drinks and check out.

This place is very good when it comes to charging your devices. Every table is accessible to an outlet that can charge 2 devices at the same time. Many outlets for you to use. The yellow tables are very clean and nice to use. Also if you buy a pastry then you can get a medium brewed coffee for $1.

I waited years till that initial crazy hype died down and glad I did. I went on a super early Saturday to pick up a cake and some buns. Cute little shop. Beautifully lit displays. Plenty of things to choose from but a little disappointed in most of the things I ordered. 6in rose lychee cake - I like that they are one of the few bakeries that have the 6 inch cake option. Perhaps I ordered the wrong one but there was more frosting filling than cake. For $32, it's better priced than many bakeries for this size. But disappointed at the lack of actual cake inside. It's absolutely gorgeous though! Little Bunny bun - suckered into this by my kids who love a cute bunny and a hot dog bun. The hot dog tasted more like vienna sausage, was not the usual hot dog length and it was 90% bun to 10% sausage. Taro sliced bread - was so excited to try this bread. The one good thing is this is not sweet. The bad thing was there was barely any taro taste. The bread also felt a little hard. Lemon bun - this was my favorite and redemption for the bakery. It was giant, fluffy, lemon-y goodness. Really delicious and would get it again. Overall, it's one of those trendier places. If you're looking for classic buns and breads, go to the older bakeries where they got older staff working there with classic Chinatown attitude (which you'll get used to during the hustle and bustle).

Came here in the morning this place is super clean. Great selection especially if you like taro items. They have a lovely selection of baked goods, including Classics like bolo bun, and egg tarts, but then interesting specialty items, such as an oatmeal raisin cookie topped with a Biscoff cookie!

Bake Culture is a small coffee and pastry shop in Downtown Manhattan. They offer a good selection of bread, pastry and coffee. They have few other locations in the city. They remind me of 86 degree bakery in SoCal. We ordered two pastry bread for a late night snack. Staff was competent. Indoor vibe was relaxing. Prices are competitive. Overall, We had a good order experience.

This place is a great find in Chinatown with a new age bakery twist. You'll find more elevated options and must try unique flavors. The store has ample seating, best to go during the weekend mornings when it's quiet, but if you like the buzz come by anytime when the streets are bustling. Definitely will visit again!

Really nice ambiance and baked goods! I've been a returned customer and found this place has both the creative desserts and the day-to-day stables!

Food (4/5): Got a lychee rose cake for my bday and a hot caramel macchiato. Both were pretty good and enjoyable. Service (4/5): No issues with the service. They gave us tap water when asked and were able to get our drink and cake as well. They weren't particularly friendly when greeting or talking with us but got things done. Ambiance (4/5): Nice spacious spot with a couple tables and bench seating. The bench seating is a bit cold when the door opens but the tables are nice and have outlets nearby.

Mooncake Lotus & Egg Yolk $4.99 for a tiny one , lotus paste was good but egg yolk was dry as shown.

Bake Culture to me is 4.2/5! But this review is for Mooncake and it's probably 3.75/5 - pretty small & pricy. Then it has to be YUMMMY but unfortunately it was okay as the egg yolk was so dry. Mooncake Lotus & Egg Yolk $4.99 for a tiny one , lotus paste was good but egg yolk was so dry. Mooncake Red Bean & Egg Yolk $5.99 too expensive for what it is.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
