I decided to drop by again to try their cream puff especially since I'm a sucker for ube. So they are still a cute little shop with no seating inside. They are still friendly and still expensive. The ube cream puff is ok but there's not much of an ube flavor. The best part is that it's not too sweet and the texture is good. At $4 a pop it's a little hard to justify. The other flavors might be better.
This place caught my curiosity when I was walking by today. I've been to Keiki in Koreatown before so I thought this place would have similar items and they did. I love cream puffs. I asked the staff member for recommendations and he said the peppermint bark was his favorite and it was also a seasonal flavor. I bought one of that flavor as well as pistachio and ube because I love everything ube. I liked the peppermint bark the best, then the ube and then the pistachio one. I think next time, I want to try the cheesecake because it looks good. The cream puffs were reasonably priced (1 for $4 or 3 for $10). I took advantage and bought 3 different flavors. I would love to visit again to see if they have other seasonal flavors.
Went in the evening and, there was still cheesecake availability. It was only one person ahead of me but staff took care of me quickly. Got the original cheesecake. There is no seating, so you have to take it to go. Kept it out in room temperature for over an hour before I ate it. It was still very cold. Liked the taste as it wasn't overly heavy and not too sweet. It's not a big size either, but there is still leftover. Definitely gonna try the Ube one next time.
Cheesecake has always been my favorite go-to dessert I always preferred the original thick creamy cheesecake style, but I can now say I have a second favorite, these were light and flakey, only comment I give would be that there wasn't much of the "unique cheesecake flavor" that all cheesecakes have. A nice store, quick service, and recommend trying this version if a fan of the original.
They finally reopened!!!! Bought the Ube cheesecake because the original was sold out and didn't want to wait for the new batch. Had to pick up some cream puffs too, got cookies and cream, Ube and pistachio. So happy they're finally open! The Ube cake was so soft. All three cream puffs were so soft and so good.
This bakery offers fancy jiggly cheese cake in many different flavors. They were pretty busy. I have only had their cream puffs here and I definitely have to say they are so delicious. They offer different flavors like ube, chocolate, vanilla and pistachio. I love their pistachio puffs. They are so generously filled. These puffs really should be eaten the day you buy them otherwise it can get a little soggy but who can resist not eating them immediately.... Not me ;-)
FANTASTIC Basque Cheesecake. Cheesy, sweet, and perfect as a pick me up with a nice cup of coffee. Get one and try it for yourself, if you're a cheesecake lover I guarantee you'll love it.

Came frozen, let it thaw for an hour or so so it gets back its fluffier consistency :) overall the flavor wasn't too bad (sponge cake-like cheese cake). Ignore my previous review - I'm a fool. The ube bouncy cheesecake is absolutely perfect and it is no longer a concern of mine that you can only order a whole one. As it turns out, I can eat that entire thing within a day. Older, wiser, etc. I had Rikuro's in Osaka a few months ago and the cheesecake here is a little denser, but just as delicious. Need to return for cream puffs! I tried the ones at their other location years ago but it's time for a refresher.
Simply delicious. A very light and hearty take on cheesecake compared to a rich, creamy one. Service was friendly and answered my questions with multiple people in the store.
This was the first place I had bouncy cake - back in the day when you really had to get there early because they would run out every day! Light, fluffy and I'm sure there are no calories cause I can eat a whole cake myself ; Try the ube, not only is it a great purple color but the subtle nuttiness comes through perfectly. I do wish they served slices just so I could try all the flavors but alas, that's not their business model.

A dear friend purchased an ube cheesecake for my birthday this year and it was truly perfect. An incredibly satisfying texture and my favorite color. The right amount of richness and sweetness without being too much. I have since stopped by when near chinatown. The bakery IS small - one large group of tourists eating a bouncecake straight out of the box standing up - pretty much occupied the entirety of the inside space. The new lemon flavored star was light, airy & bouncy similar to the bouncy cheesecake (original). It's perfect on the go & the star shape is cute. I always loved their Bouncy cheesecake , cream puffs, fancy cheesecakes & basque cheesecake. My friends enjoyed the basque cheesecake during our dinner. Basque cheesecake was super creamy, smooth & not overly sweet. All of the delights here are good for any occasions and or to satisfy your craves. Services are always good. They are willing to answer any questions you may have & give out suggestions if needed. It's best to refrigerate if not eaten right away. read more

3 amazingly delicious cream puffs for $10!! I've never heard of a better offer. Bite into one of those sweet and fluffy delights and you'll find yourself smiling from ear to ear! Cute little Japanese cheesecake shop in Chinatown Manhattan. The shop is small but they have tons of baked goods. It's not a place where you can sit down and eat. More of a grab and go? But they have a barstool table if you want to eat your baked goods there. Service was super quick, got my order taken and then received my cake right after. Reviewing based off the bouncy cheesecake only, I didn't get to try the other things yet. I ordered a Ube Bouncy Cheesecake. Flavor wise, the ube flavor is light. It's not too sweet so I was able to enjoy it. I liked that you can smell the flavor and subtle sweetness of the cake. You can't really taste the cream cheese that much because it's a Japanese cheesecake. I also thought that cheesecake wasn't as "bouncy" as it could have been. The texture of the cake was a little bit more on the denser side and the texture was very soft (also attached a picture to show the inside of the cake) Still pretty good tho! Would come back if I was in the mood for a decent Japanese cheesecake or if I want to try other things but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Overall good experience and I would say it's worth trying if you're curious about the flavors since they have more than just Japanese cheesecakes. read more

I'm obsessed with the cream puffs here. They are quite literally the perfect dessert or pick-me-up treat throughout the day. I love all the flavors, and I usually gravitate to plain, but my favorite was the Ube or Cookies and Cream! I've tried their cheesecake too, and it was delightful! Super light and fluffy-- not too sweet! The cheesecake was a great serving size, and I was able to share with a group of five with leftovers to spare! Pro tip: if you're going to pick up the cheesecake later in the day, you can call ahead to reserve the flavor you want:-) read more

(Overall: A) - I decided to grab a quick treat from Keki's Modern Cakes from Chinatown and opted for a trio of cream puffs. If I recall correctly, I likely got pistachio, cookies and cream, and ube -- the best part is that the flavors are physically present and not subdued. The shell is a crispy exterior kind of like a pineapple bun. Overall, I found these elevated cream puffs to be packaged well, presented nicely, and tasty! One of the only dessert places open somewhat regularly on Thanksgiving. A lot of people were coming in for last minute desserts. I got a ube bouncy cheesecake and an ube cream puff. I came relatively early, maybe an hour after opening. Glad I did because they ran out of cakes that day. Their sweets are really not too sweet, which is always a good thing. Both the cream puff and Japanese cheesecake had a strong ube flavor. The choux pastry was good, light and crispy. The cream had a lot of flavor to it, but it wasn't as light as I like my creams to be. It thicker and didn't feel as smooth texturally. The Japanese cheese cake was light and bouncy. It was also only $18 for the whole thing, and it can easily be shared between 6 people. read more

Stopped in at the Mott St Chinatown location to pick up Ube Cheesecakes, and happened upon this new flavor- beautifully shaped as a star. It was really delicious- super light and fluffy. Went well with our cappuccinos! The taste was special. Definitely try this- you won't be disappointed. Just wanted to comment that with years of coming to the store as well as being the loyal customer ordering on GOLDBELLY, we are quite nostalgic of the original name, KEKI.... grounded with charm, culture, and character- absolutely unique. I'm sure the owners had their reasons to rebrand, but we still LOVE the KEKI name. read more
A shop where you can get the Taiwanese cheesecake which jiggles, definitely something I've watched in videos but was not nearly as good as I thought it would be as it seems a lot like the Japanese style cheesecake slices that you can get done at the other bakeries. Still, the prices were better than other bakeries for a full cheesecake (they have slightly smaller versions that work for two). The cream puffs being $4 a piece felt a bit much, you can get three for $10 though. I'm not originally a fan of this style of cheesecake so perhaps other people will enjoy it more than I do. Cute decor and nice boxes, definitely some people getting this for a gift for others. read more
I was hungry and got a pistachio cream puff at $4 for each one wrapped in a plastic bag. The pistachio crusted topping is very tasty and crunchy when you bite it. The pistachio cream is very creamy and I thought it was a lot of cream sitting inside the puff. The cream was a bit sweet and just right but I think it was too much cream. I could t finish the cream but ate mostly the pistachio nuts sitting outside of the puff. They also had other flavors like taro and original, which I will try another time when I pass by. read more

Trying the crunchy top cream puffs--milk, ube, and pistachio. They were just ok! Regular. Liked the fact they weren't too sweet. 3 for $10. I personally liked Beard Papa better and the puff was more like a bread/ dough instead of a puff, b/c it wasn't flaky at all. read more

My friend treated me with an ube bouncy cheesecake ($18) from Keki and it was absolutely amazing. The texture is so soft and fluffy that it's hard to accept that it's considered a cheesecake! It's so light that I could've eaten all of it in one sitting. The most impressive part about the cake was the ube flavor. I think it's hard to capture ube since it's a very subtle nutty vanilla flavor, but this one managed to do it. I think this definitely rivals the Uncle Tetsu cheesecake in terms of texture, but Keki's ube flavor is much better! I would definitely want to come back to try their cream puffs and original cheesecake as well. read more

$18 for the Uber cheesecake? Well worth it according to my toddler as he had two slices. The cake itself is small in size but packs great flavor. The ube flavor was consistent throughout and not overly sweet. Will need to try the cream puffs next visit. read more

This has been on my list for a really long time and I finally got a chance to visit them this time. I so wanted to get the sponge cake but knowing that we'd be on the move and travelling around I ended up buying the 3 for $10 cream puffs - I got the pistachio, Ube and cookies & cream flavors. The cream puff was perfect crispy on the outside soft on the inside and the cream flavors were great, making these a cloudy pillow of absolute delight. I'm definitely gonna get the sponge cake next time! Loved their stuff, now you might have to wait slightly longer queues especially on weekends but the wait is worth it, the service is cute. read more

Yes and I think it can last about a week.

One cake is enough for 8 people if you're just trying to sample a small piece. If you want a generous slice for everyone with some leftover, I'd get 2.
Can you purchase individual slices of cake?
Unfortunately, they don't offer cake by the slice. You have to buy whole cakes.
What are the prices like?
It's $13.75 for the Bouncy Cheesecake, and $9.75 for the Castella Taiwanese Style Sponge Cake :)
