Love the double baked cheese tart. It is one of the desserts I get every time. Very delicious.

Matcha Creme Croissant ($4.50)

I've been wanting to visit a Bake Code location for the longest time but just never got the chance to. However, a few months ago I went to the on on Woodbine in the evening around 8-9pm and majority of the pastry and baked good were gone so I didn't end up getting anything. This time I just so happened to be at Hillcrest right when they opened so I decided to drop by Bake Code. First off, the cost of each bread/pastry was much more expensive than other bakeries but I thought, I need to try so I didn't mind spending some money on it, lol. I got the Matcha Creme Croissant ($4.50) and Earl Grey Tea Flute ($3.90). The Matcha Creme Croissant had a nice flaky, crisp exterior (I usually don't like croissants to be flaky on the outside but this one can be an exception) and the inside was filled with so much Matcha Creme!! It was very rich and creamy. I wouldn't mind repurchasing this in the future, but it is quite expensive. The Earl Grey Tea Flute smelled nice, but the buttercream was a tad too sweet for my liking. I probably won't be repurchasing this in the future. I think I may have came too early, idk, but there were no samples given at the time and I wish they would have some because it would help me decide what I wanted. Would I come back? Probably. Once in a while though to try out their other breads.

Bake Code sharing the same storefront with Chatime inside Hillcrest Mall. If you like Asian Fusion baked good or never try them, it is worth a visit. They offers free samples on some of their more unusual products. Though supplied with tongs for picking up samples, a lot of people just picked it up with their bare hands. So cleanliness maybe a concern. Accepts credit cards so you can just pay your purchase with the Taiwanese tea you ordered from Chatime,

Double baked cheese tart $5.50+tax

Came looking for the stuffed croissants but they only had peanut butter. Does the stock change each day? Also did not see any raspberry cheese tart to redeem the 50% off yelp offer lol. The cheese tart I got was okay. I asked for it to be heated up - thank you! It's too big for one person. Found the portions and taste to be better at uncle tetsu and t&t. Will come back to try other items. I've been 3 times already, so far I think just the breads are best.

Mentaiko Mille Feuille Croissant ($6)

This is the "Gucci of the Chinese bakeries" as their goods are more refined than other places with prices to match. Pictured is the Croissant Brule (~$4) which tastes exactly what it sounds like. The core is a fluffy round croissant, but the outer layer is a crispy, flaky sweet and buttery exterior. Also tried the very interesting-looking blacked out Mentaiko Mille Feuille Croissant ($6). The ingredients are mentaiko (spicy pollack roe) sauce, butter croissant, and parsley. Biting into this tastes like you're crushing through a thousand super thin layers and then your tongue gets a whiff of that creamy fishy sauce. Great tasting but perhaps a little too on the dry side for me. The ham and cheese bun is probably my fav and the one I've got multiple times. The size is pretty big (like the size of two regular buns stretched out and joined together). Always very fresh with the perfect proportion of ham, to cheese, to sweet onion. I've also been to the North York location which has a set-up similar to more traditional Chinese bakeries where you get a tray and tongs and get what you want from the display cases. For this in-mall location, there's one huge display case and you tell the servers what you want. They also seem to have less variety than the North York location. Overall, a great place to treat yo self and feel fancy. Pro tip: park near the TD bank toward the southeast end of the mall to find the closest mall entrance to the bakery. And oh yeah, this is co-branded with a Chatime for some boba action if you so please. Rating: 4 outlet mall handbags out of 5

Twice Baked Cheese Tart $5.50
Ann H.

A friend recommended the Baked Cheese Tart ($5.50) & Matcha Creme Croissant so I decided to drop by when i was in the area before going home The actual name of this tart is called the Twice-Baked Rare Cheese Tart. I am guessing they bake the crust first before baking the filling? It is definitely not as rare as the green tea cream croissant because the latter was sold out when I were there I was so disappointed Anyways, when I cut open the cheese tart, I was expecting a molten texture, but there was none. Maybe it was because it was cold so the filling has set itself after being in room temperature? The cheese tart has a butter cookie crust but it is not as buttery and delicate as the BAKE cheese tart I tried in HK. It was still pretty good and easier to cut in half (doesn't crumble). The filling is made with three kinds of cheese and it was very smooth, really liked the flavour of it Also grabbed the Pearl Milk Tea to drink while driving home..got less ice and 30% sugar but it was much sweeter than the bubble tea from the other Chatime locations When I go back again I hope I can finally try the green tea cream croissant!

Finally was in the area and had a chance to visit this new bake code location. I really like Bake Code's bread and love their innovative asian flavors. Kimchi creamcheese bread was bomb! It was slighyly sweet, probably cause of the bread? But it was stuffed with a lot of cream cheese mixed with kimchi bits. Not sure if its cause the place was still fairly new, but service was really slow. I went in the afternoon so it wasn't any rush hour time but it was just a long wait to pay and they got my drink wrong too. There is also no where to sit at this location. I'd rather go to the yonge and Sheppard location. the 4 stars is more for the bread, not the service or location.

I have heard rave…read morereviews of their sourdough & breads, and I can see why it has become such a staple of the locals in this area. Crust is located on the bottom floor of a condo building - a treat for the residents who get pass by for morning coffee & pastries I hope! Who doesn't like the smell of fresh baked bread & pastries? While there is very limited high top seating inside the bakery itself, there are plenty of tables inside the condo lobby just outside the bakery entrance. Service wasn't standout, but that's not a deal breaker in this case. I definitely recommend stopping by to pick up their baked goods. You could probably skip on the coffee - it was good, but not the star in my opinion. I treated myself to a blueberry custard tart & flaky pain au chocolat - both were incredibly delicious and I can't wait to come back to try more! Note that there is parking at the back of the building if you turn onto Yongehurst Rd.

Next time i will check out the parking so we can make our purchase more leisurely.

Last Saturday, I was in my car, parked steps away from Zoup! I had placed a dinner order. I looked across the plaza and noticed Paris Baguette (PB). I had visited COBS Bread a couple of hours earlier. Did I need another bakery visit? Yes! I had some time to kill before picking up my dinner. It was raining. I drove over to PB and parked relatively close to the store. I walked in. I felt like I was in heaven. Carb heaven. Where should I start? I got a tray. There were instructions to grab a small piece of paper and lay it on the tray. I got tongs and went to work. I saw palmiers. My mom loves them. I grabbed one with my tongs and broke off a curved section. It was probably a first for me. I ate the broken part and placed the imperfect palmier on my tray. The broken piece was yummy and was perfection. I finally understood why my mom loves palmiers. I hit the croissant section. I got a pain au chocolat, which is probably my favourite type of croissant. I also got a chocolate croissant. A nice, older woman started chatting with me. She was so sweet. She let me know that she frequents this bakery often and loves it. I asked her what items she hasn't had. It was two items, which floored me. She noticed the chausson aux pommes that I had on my tray and said that it was yummy. I got the following items: - Chausson aux pommes - Chocolate croissant - Pineapple brûlée pastry - Palmier - Pastel de nata - Pain au chocolat - Curry croquette The nice woman let me know that Mia, who was the staffer behind the counter, let her know that this bakery has Korean owners. Really? It made sense seeing mochi donuts. We both hit the checkout counter. Mia got her order and said to grab a seat. She'd bring everything to her. This nice woman said that she was shy of being 90 years old. What?! She looked great! I wouldn't have guessed that I was talking to an 89-year-old woman during my entire time here. I hope that when I am her age, I am savouring pastry as often as my new friend. Mia was great. She put all my pastries in a box. She singled out my savoury curry croquette in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I got my receipt, thanked her, grabbed my goodies, wished my new friend a wonderful day, and left. There was a Wild game that night. I had a pastry each period. Three pastries in three hours. They were delicious! I will say that the ones with fresh fruit were the most expensive, just over $6. They were worth it. The chausson aux pommes had the best apple filling. It was flaky and delicious. I absolutely devoured the pineapple brûlée pastry. The pineapple chunks were set in custard and were so naturally sweet. This pastry was superb. The pain au chocolat continues to be my favourite croissant. It was flaky and had the best chocolate in every bite. So good! I had the chocolate croissant and loved it. It was fresh, flaky, and soft. The chocolate drizzle had the right amount of chocolate with the buttery croissant. I was extremely happy with my pastel de nata. The custard had a hint of sweetness. The base of flaky. It could have been torched on top more, but I'd get half a dozen next time. I didn't know what to expect with the curry croquette. It was delicious. It had a crispy exterior, crusted with a mix of white and black sesame seeds. The curry filling was full of good flavour. It had veggies in it. The corn and carrot combination worked nicely. I raved about this place to my friend at work today. There's one at Heartland in Mississauga, which is perfect for us to do a run after work. I had an excellent experience. It was nice meeting a passionate pastry lover while getting her take on what she loves. Everything that I consumed was excellent. I hope to get a drink next time and perhaps sit down to enjoy it. I'll be back. (117)
