Met some friends after work. Didn't have a reservation but they wanted to hang out at the bar. At 5:00pm on a weekday it was not too crowded and there was plenty of nearby street parking. I really wanted to try the Nopales salad - cactus salad. I ordered it with grilled octopus. The nopales were very good and definitely different from anything I've had. I was expecting them to taste smokier. There was a light pickle taste to something else on the plate. Not sure if it was the nopales or a topping. It was served with half an avocado and two large, round tortilla chips. The octopus was devine and I only wish the piece was bigger. The prices are on the higher side but the food, drinks and service is excellent. The salad with the octopus as an extra plus tax and tip was $39.
We went on a cruise recently & had a day in Miami after the cruise, before we flew home. We went downtown & checked out Bakan. It was such a cute place! We sat outside & grabbed some drinks & an appetizer, just kind of hopping around to a few places. My sister ordered a Mojito & I ordered a margarita. The drinks were good. Â We ordered the Elote appetizer x 2 because we didn't know how sharable these would be. We were not prepared for this & have never had something like this before! The corn came out & it was the biggest kernels I've ever seen. Â I didn't even know they made corn like this. I'm not sure if it's because my brain couldn't wrap my head around this being corn, but some of us liked it but also thought it tasted a little bit like mac & cheese. It was just different. We also tried a sample of the guac with chips. It was really good! I wish the chips were actual chips instead of blue corn tostadas. I liked the aesthetics of this but I didn't feel like they were practical. We had them refill these "chips" three times because they only brought 4 out & there were 4 of us. Overall, we liked this place but didn't try actual food. Service was great.
I dined in at Bakan for taco Tuesday. The tacos were $5 each and had a pretty good selection of options to choose from. They do not serve chips and salsa for the table. We originally ordered the tuna appetizer, but the restaurant was out of it. We ended up choosing the ceviche as a starter, and it was very light and fresh. We're unsure what type of fish it was, because the server didn't know lol. I ordered one spicy shrimp taco, one Mahi taco, and one skinny chicken taco. The Mahi taco was definitely my favorite and the most flavorful. The skinny taco was served on lettuce instead of a tortilla. I was a little underwhelmed on the tacos. I thought for the price they would be spectacular, but they were pretty average. I really wanted to try the lobster and chorizo tacos, but they were not included on the taco Tuesday menu. I will definitely make sure to try those the next time I come here! The service was fairly quick, aside from missing a taco from our order. They got the missing taco out to us within a few minutes, and they regularly came by to clear our plates. We dined on the patio, but I did go inside to use the restroom at one point. The interior was very cool and vibey. There was a DJ playing and the music in the bathroom was extremely loud.
The vibe is immaculate. If the weather is even remotely nice, do yourself a favor and sit outside. It honestly feels like you are being transported to Tulum. The food? Shockingly not overpriced for how legit it is. Start with the guacamole its a non-negotiable. It sets the tone and lets you know you're in very capable hands. My partner and I are still thinking about the Sera Melon cocktail. Honestly, it stole the show. Refreshing, balanced, and dangerously drinkable. I dropped my Classic Margarita and the staff graciously swooped in with a replacement. Zero judgment, only kindness. We ordered a couple of mole dishes, and wow deep, rich, authentic flavors that taste like someone's abuela is quietly running the kitchen in the best way possible. One of my favorite Wynwood spots hands down, and yes, I will absolutely be back. Also great for people watching lol.
This was the first stop in my totally unplanned Sunday Funday and I had zero regret! It was my first time having the food and I enjoyed every minute! We sat at the bar since there isn't a bad seat in the place with such a nice aesthetic. The bartender was friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. My son in law had the vegan bowl, my daughter the shrimp tacos, and I had the oxtail tacos. Everything was a 10/10! My daughter and I swapped a taco and ended up getting another order of the shrimp to share. They were my fav. For my drink I had Hugo spritz. Couldn't go wrong there. I'll for sure be back for those tacos!
This place is great if you're looking for good Mexican food in Miami! I've eaten both inside and outside. The outdoor seating is great when the weather permits. Service was great but nothing that is overtly exceptional. They have an extensive collection of tequila and mezcal for those seeking a restaurant with such options. Their queso is excellent but this time I did the los esquites (corn) which was fresh and delicious. For entree I had the mole verde. The mole had a great flavor and the sea bass was perfectly flaky with a good sear. Their tortillas are freshly made and fantastic. The table gets two salsas, one more mild (red) and the other more spicy (green). I enjoy the heat and the green salsa was phenomenal. I also tried the duck enchiladas. The flavor was good but I'm not sure I could have told you it was duck or not. Overall a great spot to visit and highly recommend if you're hankering for Mexican food.
Came to Bakan for dinner and was seated right away. We sat outside and it was a beautiful night with perfect weather, which made the whole vibe even better. The ambiance here is really nice and has that fun, lively Wynwood energy. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, which actually comes more like three tacos, and they were so good. We also got the short rib tacos and those were amazing too. Everything was flavorful, and well-seasoned. Overall, a great dinner spot with good food and a really nice atmosphere. I would definitely return.
Absolutely fantastic! This restaurant has it all, delicious food, excellent service and a great ambiance! One of the best grilled octopus I had eaten in a long time, perfectly cooked. The cocktails are amazing, full of taste and flavors. The bar attenders are fantastic! The service is top notch, restaurant manager Francisco and his team do great job at making you feel welcomed and provided excellent recommendations. Definitely give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy every bite, every sip!
Get the ribeye on cherry grill with all the fixings it's like fajitas but 10,000 better and then get the melon margarita. Steak was cooked perfectly! Salsas are amazing it was perfect for 2 to share! Beautiful patio and lovely bar. Server was amazing excellent service fast, clean and great experience.

Bakan is a fun, modern restaurant in Wynwood. It's a great place to take a break from the heat with some delicious food. Our server started us off with salsa and chips. The green salsa, which is certainly house-made, was phenomenal. It was a bit spicy, but the flavor was incredible. I ordered a three taco plate which came with beans and a little slaw. I got two short rib tacos and one shredded chicken taco that was off the menu. The short rib tacos blew me away. The meat was so flavorful and perfectly braised. The corn tortilla was beautifully fresh and, with a squeeze of lime juice, these tacos were heavenly. The shredded chicken taco was also good but less unique overall. The plate was a bit pricey for $20++, but honestly really enjoyed the meal. All of the staff were very polite and the aesthetic of the restaurant was very cool.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant to go to! I love that they make blue corn for by hand here and have so many tequila options. The prices are very fair for the quality and location. I've been here a couple of times and can't say i've ever had something that I didn't like. You can't go wrong with the tacos, queso fundio, enchiladas suizas, or meat platter for two! The ambiance is nice and inviting and the service is usually great! read more
Bar Service is so kind and provides great recommendations from the menu. I had the vegan bowl and it hit the spot. Not too heavy but filling. Hidden veggies under the top included- so fun and yummy too. Clean, inside and great AC and outside has fans too. I didn't get a drink so I can only speak for the vegan meal that was excellent. I haven't been back to Bakan for about three years. Back then it was just okay. Today we had a great time with delicious cocktails, food, and our server was so attentive! She recommended our cocktails. I had the Tulum vibes and it was refreshing and perfect! My friend got the wall and it was good too. I love the detail in the cocktail the wall had a man on a ladder hanging off the drink. So cute! She recommended the guacamole that was topped of with cheese and served with fresh made blue tortilla chips. She even brought out salt and gave us a tip to add a lil salt to our guacamole for more flavor. She was right! There were two salsas that they bright out both were good. The portions were a good size. To share we ordered the mole verde which is Chilean Seabass with a green mole sauce. It was sooo good with every bite it taste smooth like butter and had good flavor. Yum!!! It came with rice and hot blue tortillas. We finished the night off with dessert. Churros filled with Nutella and served woth ice cream and chocolate on the side. They crispy on the outside and delicious! We had such a great night and glad to know they have made changes to the menu and the service was great! She recommended all the right items! read more

I've always wanted to check this place out and finally got around to it. Went during the week, so it was not as busy. Food was delicious and served super fast! The elote was amazinggg and super tasty. I got the chicken flautas, a big portion. Service was good and attentive. The ambiance is nice and spacious. Stopped in while spending the day in the art district before our cruise and why a place. The atmosphere was amazing with a beautiful outside area and an awesome inside. The tequila wall was cool. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by a super friendly staff and seated immediately. They have an eclectic menu with typical items as well as items that involve bugs. The tortillas were the best I've ever had and made fresh. They were blue corn but taste and texture was mind blowing. I had the Chilean sea bass tacos and WOW the size of the fish was huge and it was full of flavor and freshness. Can't wait to go back before our next cruise in a few months. read more

My son and I came to sample their Mexican offerings. The interior is stunning. We loved the atmosphere and ambiance. We sat in their pleasant breezy part outdoor area. The service was friendly and efficient. Their cocktails were simply AMAZING. Looked gorgeous and tasted gorgeous. We enjoyed our food as well. However, to be noted I wish their two main dishes came with some colour on the plate (the colours were purple and black and could have looked more appealing). I had not visited in a while, what a nice surprise, specially considering i noticed the cocktail menu featured different cocktails. Many mezcal options, i went with a pineapple one that was pretty good. One of the best i've had in a while, nice contrast of the mezcal smokiness & freshness of the pineapple! The salsas were all tasty & freshly made, the enmoladas were good, but I would not order again. I should have played it safe with enchiladas suizas... still a good experience, love visiting Bakan! read more

I went for lunch and loved the chic but relaxed ambiance. Perfect for a place to dress cute but without the pressure of super fancy places. The server was nice but the food was ok. I got the queso fundido with chorizo and it was delicious but also melted cheese in general is delicious. However, I had the grilled octopus (pulpo) but I was pretty disappointed. It was too chewy and too salty. The steak my friend ordered looked pretty good so I would give this place another shot with a different dish. The guacamole and beans on the side were yummy though. Overall I'd recommend checking Bakan out. It's been on my list for a while and glad I finally got to try it. Also the virgin mango drink was pretty good! read more

Gotta go for the bugs. Chapolinas...grasshoppers to you pedestrians. They are great for tacos, 100% protein. Salty, crunchy, delicious with a shot of mezcal with a slice of orange and worm salt... Wait what? Worm salt?? You heard me. They used to have maguey worms too, didn't know if they still do. Very fresh, very clean food. I felt refreshed, (and a little drunk from mezcal) and was amazed at the flavors and brightness of the food. That dang green hot sauce is addictive, be ware !! The service was great, glasses only ran empty once. I am a thirsty chap, so that's important. I've been here a few times, and it's always the same great quality, same great experience. My number 1 fav go to Mexican restaurant in Miami. It's always a good day at Bakan! The staff is so attentive and welcoming... The food is always scrumptious and consistent. Most of the time I always get the same server bad he would offer me a shot on the house. My only downside is I wish they would enforce no smoking outside. Can't wait to try their new restaurant Koko. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to go to bakan! Loved my experience here! The food, service, and atmosphere were great, and it didn't feel like an overly fancy restaurant. Will be coming again. Bakan classica drink ($16): all drinks can be made with mezcal if you'd prefer instead of tequila. And the margarita classica can be made skinny. Super tasty la Lena skirt steak ($35) - it came exactly how we asked and was served with wood-fired corn, poblano pepper and cheese, guacamole, beans, and tortillas. Great dish. Ceviche bakan: generous portion of ceviche, super fresh and flavorful Heart of palm watermelon salad: nice and fresh salad. I'd recommend getting the dressing on the side and using the table salsas as a dressing because they were delicious read more

I've always wanted to pop in and finally found the opportunity. The vibe is eclectic, lively and upbeat. It's hard not to enjoy soaking it all in - even if you're just alone. I had the El Encanto (espresso martini inspired) and La Carajillo (very similar but more coffee/milky). Both were delicious and made with love. I loved that the bartender used tongs to grab out straws. We weren't hungry but opted for the $4 TOASTADA DE CHAPULINES from the Insectos menu. It's crispy grasshoppers with guacamole, Cotija cheese on an organic blue corn tortilla toasted on wood fire. Wasn't bad and it's a pretty filling snack. I'd definitely return! read more

My husband and I came here on a whim and they sat us without a reservation. We sat inside and although it was a little chilly inside the food and service was impeccable! We started with their guacamole and homemade blue tortilla chips and then shared the, Asada a la lena para taquear estilo el mercado de Oaxaca - short rib. I had a mango jalapeño drink and my husband a classic margarita. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent! read more
Came here for an early birthday happy hour while in Miami for the day. I came a little too early for happy hour but was told it was half off drinks I believe and I'd also from 4-6 so will have to come back again. The two cocktails that we had were pretty good! I had the mango drink and a watermelon drink (I can't remember the names but it's listed in the receipt !) but I appreciate the bartender for having such great customer service and being pretty attentive to us. The ambiance or this place is very cute and reminds me of being in Tulum. We only ate the ceviche but it was pretty good. A tad bit citrusy for me but I'm sure most people wouldn't mind it. read more

Bakan is the perfect place for tacos and margs on a night out with friends. I've been here a few times and always go for the guac appetizer. Also the verde te Quiero verde drink, spicy with mezcal is incredible. If you like cilantro, you'd love this marg! For meals, I've ordered the vegan bowl, mushroom tacos, and short rib tacos. My fav so far were the mushroom tacos for sure. I do wish the short rib tacos came with some guac or salsa, but they were super tasty. The patio is a great vibe, but heads up, it can get pretty noisy out there. read more

What a fantastic discovery. I had the Guacamole to share, the chilean seabass tacos and shared a flan. It was sooo good i cannot wait to go back. The entire meal was fresh flavorful and I can't say enough about the flan. The creaminess, the taste , everything is absolutely highly recommended!!! Great flavors, fresh ingredients, and unique options. Started with the guacamole app and it was nice and fresh with good chips. Mom ordered the pulled chicken, which she liked, and I got short rib with spicy mole. I regret the spicy mole, it was too hot for me, but the short rib was phenomenal. Had one of the best pina coladas of my life here. Definitely do order a cocktail! Only minor complaint was the noise level - both outside and inside was too loud with music blasting and this was only 6 pm, forcing people to scream and I did not enjoy being forced to listen to the nauseating conversation of the people next to us. Come with me to Bakan located in Wynwood. Bakan offers a fun and lively environment with delicious Mexican dishes. If you are looking for a place to have drinks or dinner Bakan is a great option. I went with some friends and we sat at the bar since we were only planning on getting drinks, the service and ambiance were so phenomenal we decided to order food as well. For drinks I had the Sera Melon, Sera Sandia Margarita, I was pleasantly surprised by this drink. Is not like any Margarita I've had before, made with tequila (you can opt for Mezcal), house-made margarita mix, and fresh watermelon juice it is refreshing and strong enough to know is a margarita, but not so much the tequila is overpowering. For my main, I had the Dorados de Pollo Tacos, made with crispy chicken tacos, 2 salsas - green & pasilla chile, cream, Cotija cheese, and black beans. These tacos were scrumptious. The green salsa is smooth and the pasilla chile salsa has a slight spicy kick to it, all together creating magic in every bite. The black beans are simply delicious, I typically don't like black beans, but I would eat a bowl of these alone. I will go to Bakan again. The bartenders were attentive and nice. Even when I was walking back from the restroom every member of the team I encountered offered a smile. read more
THE PLACE: Located in Wynwood, plenty of parking can be found on the street. On the outside, the restaurant is beautifully decorated with cacti, and various earth colored elements and textures. Inside, it is also tastefully decorated and have a variety of seating styles. Bakan feels warm, welcoming and has a laid back vibe. Bathrooms were a bit dirty and flooded but seemed circumstantial. THE FOOD: All Mexican foods expected were here, with the surprise of seeing insects on the menu as well. Portions are on the smaller side but pack a punch with freshness and flavor. We ordered guac as a starter and ceviche and the short rib tacos for entree. ALL FANTASTIC! My fiancé ordered a margarita which he liked and I had a mango chiller type of drink and was so refreshing! THE SERVICE: Staff and managers are friendly and courteous. 18% gratuity is included in the checks. read more

Does anyone know if they're still open? Today is Tuesday, May 25th. We've been calling and can't get anyone to answer the phone and there isn't a vm either.
They are probably super busy. The Weekend tourist are already there.
Do they have Sunday Brunch?
We went during the week and they open at noon daily. There's no special brunch menu that I'm aware.
