Disappointing experience; only the beer lived up to expectations. I'm giving El Rancho Grande 3 stars because, while it has potential, the food quality and service left a lot to be desired during our visit. The Food: We ordered the carne a la tampiqueña, and the quality of the meat was quite average. The taco de lengua was definitely not good. On top of that, the tortillas were disappointing--for an authentic Mexican restaurant, tortillas should really be freshly made in-house. Service & Experience: Serving the cuts on scorching hot metal plates led to a very uncomfortable meal; my father, who is an elderly senior, burned himself twice. They severely need to reconsider that presentation for safety. To top it off, our waitress did not have a pleasant attitude. The Bright Spot: The only truly delicious part of the meal was the beer--served at the exact right temperature in a properly chilled glass. Overall, it wasn't the family experience we were hoping for. I hope they improve their food quality and customer service. read more

Honestly one of my go to spots. The margaritas are always delicious I highly recommend the guava and hibiscus. Also the queso fundido with chorizo. The service is always great here too. They're very attentive and quick with the recommendations. It's a no frills spot but you do have the option to sit outside and people watch. read more

From the time we entered the door (they opened) till the time we were finished and left (they opened the door) or service was amazing! They cleaned the table of empty dishes and filled the drinks constantly. This is almost unheard of these days and we appreciate it. The food... we started with guacamole and elota d.f. Both of which were delicious. I'm more of a guacamole gal and that was so fresh and smooth... and the salsa was fresh as well! I was in the other night and had a great experience. The service stood out right away, both the bartender and wait staff were exceptionally kind and attentive. It felt welcoming from the moment I sat down. I ordered the Mexican pork chop special, which was flavorful and well prepared. It came out hot and nicely plated. I also had a super tasty Margarita to start, and followed it up with a couple of Pacificos. Everything was fresh, satisfying, and hit the spot. There are countless reasons why going on 17 years, Rancho Grande is still my favorite Mexican restaurant. Whether I'm driving from my house in Wynwood, my old apartment near Vizcaya back in 2008 when I started going or from a little further west today, the food, attention and atmosphere is still top-notch. This most recent five star trip was the continuing celebration of my friends's birthday month. She heard countless times about how even when I went solo dining and was craving Mexican. I would drive to this place. This trip, we sat outside, and we started with my typical Mojito and of course her favorite wine, Pinot Grigio ( our waiter was even nice enough to look up the actual bottle for us). The platinum machos appetizer, my favorite, earned a new fan. My lady friend loved how well seasoned the meat is, and she preferred the savoring garnish of sour cream and cheese on top of the plantain. I enjoyed my chicken fajita this time no keto, with the tortilla and everything while she enjoyed their classic burrito (and we have leftovers). The team closed at our dinner with singing happy birthday to her with a candle decorated tequilamisu and her posing for a picture with a pink cowgirl hat. First off I will say that our server was pleasant and helpful. For me personally the food was horrible and I couldn't eat my Chimichanga. Perhaps I'm not use to the way they are prepared here in Miami but it was literally deep fried in what I can only assume old dirty oil. Not at all palatable. A pitcher of margaritas was $68 ! I visited last Monday for Presidents' Day with my toddler, my wife, and a friend. We arrived around 6:30 PM, but all the outdoor tables were full. Inside, there was only one occupied table, so the restaurant was at about 50% capacity. We ordered our food, but it took 25 minutes for the server to bring out the guacamole and chips, and the elotes took even longer. The main dishes took around 45 minutes to arrive. I ordered a skirt steak cooked well done, but it came out burned on the outside and medium-rare on the inside. I had shrimp fajitas, and my wife had a steak quesadilla. Our toddler didn't eat anything; he just had water. We all drank water and no other beverages. The next morning, we all experienced vomiting and severe diarrhea. Now we're on antibiotics prescribed by our doctor, as the symptoms lasted more than 48 hours. I will never return to this restaurant. Please be cautious and don't trust this place read more

El Rancho Grande has become a favorite spot over the years, primarily for their fresh guacamole. It's super delicious. This visit, we got tostadas (the entree with 3) for an appetizer. They were super delicious. Perhaps, the best decision that we made all week. I had the taco salad for my entree. The tortilla shell is always great. This time, I wish I had gotten the dressing on the side. It made things a tiny bit soggy. My friend got the beef soup which was delicious. When I am not feeling well, I will often stop here for their beef or chicken soup. Historically, they have both been well made. We had the tres leches to share for dessert. Our server was very kind and attentive. I forget his name at the moment. He was from Venezuela. The ambiance was quiet because we stopped by before the dinner crowd. The queso fondido is good. Chorizo added a nice balance to the cheese. Food hack: took 2 pieces of shrimp. Cut them up into smaller pieces. Layered them on the tortilla. Took a little bit of the chorizo and tomato with a spoon and layered it on top of the shrimp. Then layered the cheese and drizzled some of the Diablo sauce on it. Stop for lunch before going to the kite festival. It was exactly what we needed for a day out in the sun. The guacamole was delicious with fresh warm chips. My veggie fajitas were so flavorful and actually had a variety of veggies not just lbs of onions like in most places. My husband had the chicken fajitas and said they were also very tasty. Portions were great we had leftovers. My oldest had the kids hard tacos and she said "the best tacos I've ever had" and the youngest had the grilled chicken platter she ate it all. The portions for the kids were perfect and they come with fries. Overall it's a great spot for good food that will keep you full for a while to be out around the beach for hours. A staple in the area. We live a couple blocks away and eat here often. Great drinks (although they no longer pack the same punch they used to) and there isnt a single dish ive tried that I disliked. All the food is amazing! Some of our favorites being the elote, queso dip, enchiladas, and fajitas. The queso fundido is also very good! As an aside, i would recommend management/whoever is in charge of these to change the wording on their promo texts. We stopped in for some drinks and appetizers on 2/22/2025 ("national margarita day") after receiving their text promo for BOGO on "all our craft margaritas". We eat, drink, get the bill, and the discount was only applied to classic margs. My gf got the 2 classic, i got 2 guava jalapeño. Something told me that would happen; either they will not apply any discount thinking that we are tourists, or there will be unclear limitations. When i asked the manager, he said the BOGO applied only to classic, hibiscus, and another flavor (do not recall). I proceeded to show him the text clearly mentioning "all" and he ultimately honored it, which i figured he would. This isnt something that will stop me from visiting, just a heads up to other locals! read more

We stopped by Rancho Grande a couple of months ago with my coworkers because their lunch special is amazing! The restaurant was practically empty around 12.30 pm so we sat wherever we wanted. The server stopped by quickly and gave us the menu. Sadly, they don't do the lunch special on Fridays so we just ended up ordering from the regular menu. We started with some margaritas because the margaritas here are so good! I had the one with ginger and it was so good and refreshing! My friends tried the mango and hibiscus ones and they loved it too. We got some chips and salsa, they are so good and addictive here! To our surprise, they changed the size of it, they used to bring it in a red basket and now is 1/3 of what they used to give; however, you can always ask for more because they are so good! For the entree, I ordered the Tacos Hongos, and they were really good! They had a Chipotle sauce on top that made them even more yummy! One of my coworkers had the shrimp tacos and she loved them! And my other two coworkers got the tortilla soup, one of them said it was delicious and the other one didn't like it too much, he felt it was too heavy. By the time we finished, the restaurant was a little bit busier and it took a while for us to get a hold of the server to get the check since she was being a server plus bartender at the same time and it was only her at that moment so she was doing her best. The restaurant should have at least two servers at lunchtime. By the way, they have a good happy hour Monday to Thursdays and Sundays! Time varies depende the day! read more

If you're in North Beach and want Mexican, this is where you should go. It's a bit pricey, but very tasty. The cocktails are delicious. I recommend the cilantro jalapeño margarita if you like a good spicy marg. The antojitos entrada makes for a great entrée that gives you a sampling of several dishes in smaller portions. The free chips and salsa are a nice bonus, too. Service is usually pretty good. Sit outside and you can enjoy the tunes of a concert at the North Beach bandshell with your meal. read more

I really like this place. The food (tacos) were a solid 4.5 but the people elevated it to a 5! Wonderful, kind staff, delicious tacos, GREAT location a block or so off the beach. We got the Al Carbon chicken tacos and barbacoa tacos and both were really good! Their salsa is also very good. I didn't have high hopes for this place when I walked up and they were blasting salsa (#notmexican), but I guess you can't judge a book by its cover. The food exceeded my expectations and the overall experience was lovely. I had sopes and though they all have meat on the menu, I asked to have them vegetarian and they were kind enough to make them with mushroom for me. They were delicious and the sopes were nice and soft and puffy, just as they should be. They have a little bit of outdoor seating and plenty indoor. I was surprised to find El Rancho Grande Cocina Mexicana. It's amazing when you miss a great place that you have driven by many times. They are located off of 72nd avenue in North Beach. The parking is easy and last night the parking was free. Bathrooms were clean as well. We were quickly accommodated outside at a clean table. They have QR codes for simplicity but they have paper menus as well. The prices and the offerings are authentic and plenty. Our waiter was attentive and informed us of all the specials for the evening. They had a old fashioned drink as a special. I ordered one- it came with a big ice ball. It was made perfectly. My significant other had the house margarita. I tried it and it was made with real juice - no mix here! We started with the special calamari and fresh guacamole. The calamari was served over a salad. Both appetizers were delicious. We also ordered the Elote (Mexican corn). It came with 2 pieces- perfect to share. Full of all the good stuff! For dinner we both ordered the Tampiquena. It came with skirt steak, chicken enchilada, and rice. No beans??? We enjoyed the enchilada. We asked for chimichurri sauce for the steak. They did not have that but they had an amazing green sauce that was the prefect accompaniment. I was so hungry there are no photos to upload. We will definitely be back.
