Awesome Fried Ice Cream!
Sergio F.

There are countless reasons why going on 17 years, Rancho Grande is still my favorite Mexican restaurant. Whether I'm driving from my house in Wynwood, my old apartment near Vizcaya back in 2008 when I started going or from a little further west today, the food, attention and atmosphere is still top-notch. This most recent five star trip was the continuing celebration of my friends's birthday month. She heard countless times about how even when I went solo dining and was craving Mexican. I would drive to this place. This trip, we sat outside, and we started with my typical Mojito and of course her favorite wine, Pinot Grigio ( our waiter was even nice enough to look up the actual bottle for us). The platinum machos appetizer, my favorite, earned a new fan. My lady friend loved how well seasoned the meat is, and she preferred the savoring garnish of sour cream and cheese on top of the plantain. I enjoyed my chicken fajita this time no keto, with the tortilla and everything while she enjoyed their classic burrito (and we have leftovers). The team closed at our dinner with singing happy birthday to her with a candle decorated tequilamisu and her posing for a picture with a pink cowgirl hat. Huge thanks again to George & his team, here's to 19 more years of delicious Mexican cuisine.

Kid taco with fries

The food was great, worth the wait. And wait we did. Other tables came in after us and got their food before us. The waiter wasn't super on top of his game but he did realize something because he brought us chips and salsa. A 5 star meal but 3 star service. Food: Birria tacos were amazing. The sauce is delicious. Chicken tacos also good. Our kids got the crunchy tacos that came with french fries. We were surprised by how big they were and they enjoyed eating them. Atmosphere was nice and smelled good because of all the steaming fajitas that came out. We took the free trolley to 72nd street from Mid beach. The neighborhood has a more rundown older feel than mid beach but it was a nice change.

Yummy food!!!!! Good service and today we order takeout so we didn't experience the vibe , but we're sure it was amazing as usual!!!

Chicken soup is delicious, especially when you need to feel better.

El Rancho Grande has become a favorite spot over the years, primarily for their fresh guacamole. It's super delicious. This visit, we got tostadas (the entree with 3) for an appetizer. They were super delicious. Perhaps, the best decision that we made all week. I had the taco salad for my entree. The tortilla shell is always great. This time, I wish I had gotten the dressing on the side. It made things a tiny bit soggy. My friend got the beef soup which was delicious. When I am not feeling well, I will often stop here for their beef or chicken soup. Historically, they have both been well made. We had the tres leches to share for dessert. Our server was very kind and attentive. I forget his name at the moment. He was from Venezuela. The ambiance was quiet because we stopped by before the dinner crowd. Parking is usually great here because there is street parking and big public lot across the street.

Great stop for Mexican fare. Nothing negative. Excellent service. Broad menu of visually aesthetic and deliciously composed dishes from the simplest appetizer to the most complex authentic flavors. Ask about daily specials and don't hesitate to order. Plenty of local parking. Outdoor seating. Exceptional dining in a fun atmosphere. Tostones, Tacos, Burritos, Platters of authentically seasoned tastiness. If you go once, you will return.

Guacamole with chips and salsa

Stop for lunch before going to the kite festival. It was exactly what we needed for a day out in the sun. The guacamole was delicious with fresh warm chips. My veggie fajitas were so flavorful and actually had a variety of veggies not just lbs of onions like in most places. My husband had the chicken fajitas and said they were also very tasty. Portions were great we had leftovers. My oldest had the kids hard tacos and she said "the best tacos I've ever had" and the youngest had the grilled chicken platter she ate it all. The portions for the kids were perfect and they come with fries. Overall it's a great spot for good food that will keep you full for a while to be out around the beach for hours. The service was great, always filling our waters and coming around to check if we needed anything. It was a random time of the day so it was pretty empty just a few tables full, the space is very colorful and the girls loved the coloring pages that match the wall by the bar.

Enchiladas

Amazing experience! We came back 2 days in a row because it was that good. I highly recommend the enchiladas with shredded chicken. Great portions and it comes with rice and beans on the side.

Bogo on "all" craft margaritas does not actually mean all, fyi

A staple in the area. We live a couple blocks away and eat here often. Great drinks (although they no longer pack the same punch they used to) and there isnt a single dish ive tried that I disliked. All the food is amazing! Some of our favorites being the elote, queso dip, enchiladas, and fajitas. The queso fundido is also very good! As an aside, i would recommend management/whoever is in charge of these to change the wording on their promo texts. We stopped in for some drinks and appetizers on 2/22/2025 ("national margarita day") after receiving their text promo for BOGO on "all our craft margaritas". We eat, drink, get the bill, and the discount was only applied to classic margs. My gf got the 2 classic, i got 2 guava jalapeño. Something told me that would happen; either they will not apply any discount thinking that we are tourists, or there will be unclear limitations. When i asked the manager, he said the BOGO applied only to classic, hibiscus, and another flavor (do not recall). I proceeded to show him the text clearly mentioning "all" and he ultimately honored it, which i figured he would. This isnt something that will stop me from visiting, just a heads up to other locals!

This is the Cameron a La Diablo.
Ryan B.

The Cameron a La Diablo. So good. Loved the sauce. Has nice kick. I wasn't drinking that day but it would go so well with beer that's almost at its freezing point. Shrimp meshed so well with sauce. The queso fondido is good. Chorizo added a nice balance to the cheese. Food hack: took 2 pieces of shrimp. Cut them up into smaller pieces. Layered them on the tortilla. Took a little bit of the chorizo and tomato with a spoon and layered it on top of the shrimp. Then layered the cheese and drizzled some of the Diablo sauce on it. And it was one of the best things I've had this year. Between the 2 dishes it was good enough to split.

Service was good but a little slow. Our table ordered tacos all around and they were pretty good and the rice and beans side was very flavorful. We enjoyed the elote appetizer and the calamari. I had the fish tacos and they were good as were all the other tacos my friends enjoyed them. I will say the drinks were a little on the weaker sweet side. Great casual ambiance with street parking and casual vibe. I dined in my bathing suit!

Yummy classic margarita

I really enjoyed this place. The service and drinks were great! I'll be back soon to try the food, especially since they have a designated area to make guacamole. Francisco was a great bartender and barista! I'd return just for his service! They didn't have happy hour when I was there (Friday 5-6), which was a bit sad.

Ginger Margaritas

We stopped by Rancho Grande a couple of months ago with my coworkers because their lunch special is amazing! The restaurant was practically empty around 12.30 pm so we sat wherever we wanted. The server stopped by quickly and gave us the menu. Sadly, they don't do the lunch special on Fridays so we just ended up ordering from the regular menu. We started with some margaritas because the margaritas here are so good! I had the one with ginger and it was so good and refreshing! My friends tried the mango and hibiscus ones and they loved it too. We got some chips and salsa, they are so good and addictive here! To our surprise, they changed the size of it, they used to bring it in a red basket and now is 1/3 of what they used to give; however, you can always ask for more because they are so good! For the entree, I ordered the Tacos Hongos, and they were really good! They had a Chipotle sauce on top that made them even more yummy! One of my coworkers had the shrimp tacos and she loved them! And my other two coworkers got the tortilla soup, one of them said it was delicious and the other one didn't like it too much, he felt it was too heavy. By the time we finished, the restaurant was a little bit busier and it took a while for us to get a hold of the server to get the check since she was being a server plus bartender at the same time and it was only her at that moment so she was doing her best. The restaurant should have at least two servers at lunchtime. By the way, they have a good happy hour Monday to Thursdays and Sundays! Time varies depende the day!

Mushroom tacos and what's left of the very good guacamole

Today the service was outstanding as was the food. Tried the fajitas today as I'm doing keto and just wanted meat and veggies. They were excellent, nice steak and plenty of pepper and onions. Great ambiance too

This last time we went the servers were not as friendly, which had never been our experience before. They added TVs which really changed the atmosphere. They also changed the menu to make it more basic, adding a burger and burrito bowl. We had the consomé and tlayuda. The tlayuda was very good still but the consomé tasted less like abuelas homemade soup, which we always loved. For entrees we got the enchiladas and puntos de filete. The enchiladas were realllyy unimpressive, just not very good. The puntos were always my favorites, but they just didn't hit lime before. This used to be at the top of our list but sadly it's fallen off big time imo.

Each plate was $30 and supposed to come with beans and rice but only came with a sauce cup of rice. The blue corn tortillas were very good, as were my short rib tacos. The drinks were amazing, I was excited to try Illegal Mezcal, our server helped my mom find what she would like and gave overall excellent service. I then realized the restaurant is owned by "First Class Hospitality" a group with nearly two dozen locations/concepts around South Beach. Alongside a couple other corporate hospitality providers, they have the entire dining market cornered with the same specials, identical pricing, and same foodservice providers. I'm sure many tourists couldn't care any less about the food they eat having no real ties to the area, but I do. At the end of the meal we had a 20% service charge which our server said did not go to them as a gratuity, the server was unable to apply the "Happy Hour" discount claiming our drinks didn't count though there was no indication based on the "Buy 1 Get 1 Free Cocktails, Beers and Wines" and we ordered off the cocktail portion of the menu. We were told by the hostess that the two other Mexican places we considered down the street were the exact same kitchen and prices, just different buildings and names, even down to watching our food be carried up the sidewalk from another building. Between the corporate soullessness, shady Happy Hour practice, cookie cutter concept, a "service charge" which doesn't benefit staff, and the food poisoning I have attributed to it, by the end I just felt sour. I regret patronizing this place and wish I had been more judicious in my choice. If I have to spend $100 on a meal, I'd rather it stay local.

Taquiza is nothing short of spectacular when it comes to their authentic blue corn tortillas. Coming from a hospitality family, Tyrese who was on his first day of training made sure our table and every guest interaction with tables around were satisfied and full. Asking about recommendations, he was able to explain the flavor palates provided with tacos and drinks. Though $5 a piece for tacos, seems a little steep this is like a reasonable Miami price considering others are about $8 for one in other places. We tried the crispy fish, al pastor, carnitas and Arrecha tacos. They were spectacular, and the guacamole with totopos thick crispy but fluffy blue corn chips. We even ordered a dozen blue corn tortillas to take home for $9. I think this is amazing price considering their authenticity. The carne asada tacos were flavorful and well done, and the guac stood out too. Their chips are house made and thicker than usual, which is different but still good. Overall, I'd come back.
