Serena is Moxy's rooftop bar and it is such a vibe! My friends and I were in Miami to attend Miami music week and ended up enjoying Serena on friday night for dinner and pool party on Saturday. The music scenes were definitely top-notch, the DJs played good blend of house and tech house! For food we ordered pinto beans with cilantro rice, guac and chips, sweet potato tacos and chicken and baja tacos. For drinks my friends and I had spicy margaritas with mezcal and tequila. Okay spot for happy hour. Went to the bar and ordered chicken sliders, nachos and a margarita. Less than stellar presentation of the chicken sliders. This is the first place I was able to eat at after traveling and it's attached to the Moxy hotel I stayed at. Beautiful establishment but I wasn't impressed by the food. My chicken was skimpy and over cooked-see comparison between orders and I prefer the toppings on my nachos wot be layered not just put on top. Our waitress, Fabi was great, Hugo Frank the DJ was AMAZING, the restaurant itself was beautiful but the food left a lot to be desired. Our Queso Fundido was not queso fundido at all. It mentioned "jalapeños" but ZERO jalapeños detected. The cheese itself was more like a bland, creamy fondu. Not delicious Mexican flava at all. Serena is located on the rooftop of the Moxy Miami South Beach Hotel. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor. It is by the beautiful swimming pool. It is decorated with foliage, palm trees, and flowers. The interior is in colors of burgundy, blues, pinks and darker woods. It looks very inviting. Good music and a good mixed crowd. We decided to sit by the pool and the server from Serena waited on us. Her name is Fabiola. She seemed quite busy and kept forgetting to bring us our Margaritas and napkins. We had to remind her a couple of times. I can't say that service was the best but we decided to have a good time anyway. We also ordered the Chicken and cheese quesadillas plus guacamole and chips. They were good but the margaritas bothered our digestive systems that evening and the next day. Everything is ok but we would order something different next time we visit. read more

Made a reservation for a party of 8, which required an online reservation and confirmation on their end. Ended up arriving early and it was 3 of us, waiting for the rest of the table. The place was pretty empty for a Saturday night dinner which kinda works in our favor a little because we assumed the food would arrive quicker. The server did not serve us water until we were ready to order drinks. Once we ordered drinks, that's when she served us water. The drinks weren't great. We ordered a few appetizers and individual meals for each person and once the food arrived, it was very dry. The food arrived pretty quickly. I got the Fish tacos which was a little dry but with lemon, it was really good. The chicken quesadilla barely had protein and was dry. Been here a few times now, I've always just walked in during happy hour and had no problems being seated. I prefer sitting at the bar, but there are lots of tables to accommodate all group sizes. As expected with a rooftop you are subject to the weather of the day. Service has always been great here, your glass is always full. The margs are good and so is the sola pero acomponada (if you like mezcal). For food we had chips and guac, some tacos, and nachos. Got a rooftop table on a blisteringly hot and humid day. Classic in Miami. Staff was friendly, nothing outstandingly good or bad per se. The guac was delicious, only gripe is that there wasn't enough of it. This paired well with their frozen palomaritas, though it was so hot that most of it melted pretty quickly. The tuna tartare tostadas were also delicious. Great crunch on the tostadas, fresh fish, and nice flavor from the greens and sauce. I believe this was seasonal, but the mushroom flautas were solid. Checked out Serena for the first time in the Moxy hotel on Washington Ave. This open-air, vibrant restaurant and bar blends Mexican-style traditional design with South Beach flashiness. I played on the swing chairs, admired the amazing fire dancer and jammed to the beats. For drinks, I tried the classic margarita which was tasty and strong, as well as a piña colada type drink that was practically a dessert (don't know the name). For bites, I tried the guacamole and chips which tasted fresh and delicious, as well as the assorted tacos which were also very tasty. Prices are comparable for South Beach hotels and restaurants. Overall my party and I had an awesome time and I will definitely try popping in here again. Note: Even though this is known as a rooftop bar/restaurant, this is on the second floor. This is a rooftop bar/restaurant in the Moxy Hotel at South beach. We were visiting Miami to show our 17yr old daughter U of Miami and stayed at the Moxy. The Serena restaurant is beautifully decorated. We did not eat here, only had a drink so this review reflects only the bar not the actual restaurant. The bar area is fun with swing chairs at the bar and around other small tables. The view of the surrounding area is beautiful also. The bar swing chairs are situated kinda behind the bar. It is quieter in that area BUT the bartenders do not provide much service there. We bought one drink and then was never attended to for the rest of the time there. I understand that the bartenders were busy but they were not nice nor helpful. It took us so long just to close out our tab. We ended up moving to the register area in hopes that we could grab a bartenders attention. We almost just walked away without paying our tab because we stood there for a very long time trying to get the bartenders attention although we were worried that the final bill once added to our room would be a different amount than what we ordered. I had to yell quite loudly to the bartender that we were leaving and finally the female bartender gave us our bill. A certain amount is already added into the bill for service which I think is unfair because the tip amount did not reflect the service that was provided. The bartenders especially the male ones need to learn how to be gracious even in busy times. read more

We went here for Mother's Day brunch this past May. We waited sort of last minute before we decided to go anywhere, and Serena had advertised their Mother's Day lunch sort of late. I'd had it on my list of places to go anyway, so it worked out! Serena is on the roof of the Moxie hotel. You have to valet park which was fairly simple except that the valet didn't take card... I was able to pay her through the cash app, but only bc I didn't have cash and asked what to do. The girl was nice and directed us into the hotel to go upstairs, but we actually should have used the elevator right there on the outside, as that would have taken us directly to the restaurant rather than the rooftop patio in general. Once we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated around the perimeter of the rooftop on their couches with a coffee table style table in front of us.. maybe a little taller. It was nice but not super conventional seating for eating a meal. I still liked it, though, and thought it was nice. (Just would fit much better with some cocktails/ happy hour in the evening). At one point they brought out a huge fan to aim at the "row" of tables we were on, because it was HOT out and we were essentially sitting in the sun. But then a few minutes later they moved it to one table in the corner... not sure if that family had specifically complained or requested it, but that was annoying. But none of that really mattered in the long run. It was a beautiful brunch, and the servers were all so friendly. And the food was AMAZING. We ordered from their Mother's Day menu, so I don't know if these are normally on there, but my husband had the Guava and Cream Cheese French Toast which was TO-DIE-FOR. Omg this was so so good. And I had the Hash Brown Benedict, which was ALMOST like the savory counterpart to the French toast in terms of flavor. I love hash browns anyway, but whatever they put in their hollondaise sauce was everything! In all, this was a beautiful and unique place with DELICIOUS food. How to access? Park in the street, go down the alley and through the hotel past the little bar, up a flight of stairs to floor 2. Yes, there's also an elevator. I couldn't find the place at first because it's in a hotel. The food isn't anything to write home about, but the vibe and decor are all very instagram worthy. Was here for brunch on a Saturday so lots of other ladies were here having a girls morning with their besties, or bachelorette get together. It is partially covered and they can further cover the area in the event that rain comes in. The "rooftop" is an allusion as you're actually sitting on the second floor but it's still great! Service was fantastic with our direct waiter but the busser didn't speak English or Spanish so that was a bit harder to get things like extra napkins and drinks. Not to worry though, he went to our guy who promptly came over and did check on us a good amount of times. I had the fish tacos based on the waiters recommendation and they were good, not too heavy or greasy but were breaded. They had picked onions and regular radishes that made the dish look beautiful. Two were plenty as they are on flour tortillas and quite substantial in size. My partner had a cubano and it was huge! It came with fries which were good but we both regretted because I was helping him finish the food to avoid a to go box, and it was just too much. I searched on TikTok places to go for my daughter 16th birthday they gave a Miami grown-up vibe but still cater to a teenager I came across Serena. I called Serena I asked him did they provide the sign that says happy birthday for my daughter they said yes it is a rooftop and the sign comes with sparklers I was ecstatic I immediately booked a reservation to surprise my daughter. We get to the establishment and it was almost empty (that should have been a clue for me). We were seated to our table It wasn't actually a rooftop because the actual rooftop is a bar for adults... I didn't make a fuss about it because I understand But I wish that it would have been explained to me over the phone but I digress, We ordered our food and When we received it it literally had no seasoning on it not a speck of salt My dish was completely cold We kept asking for salt and pepper we were sending back our dishes because it was either undercooked or too cold. The server looks irritated so I asked him are we frustrating you with all these requests he said no. The server and I had already discussed that when the birthday sign comes out for my daughter then he would give me a heads up (GREAT). The sign comes out It was supposed to say "Happy Sweet 16 Chance" But the sign read, "Happy Sweet 1 Chance" I immediately was frustrated because the first time it came out it was incorrect I immediately corrected them and told them to find that number 6!! So now it's no longer a surprise to her so her second reaction was no longer of surprise it was a staged reaction from her because she knew what was coming. So they fixed it and she was happy but the helper who was holding up the sign had no sparklers with the sign (Like I was promised over the phone) and he couldn't hold the sign anymore because I guess it was heavy so he asked me did I want to hold it I told him, NO! So he put it down in the chair at the next table (THE GHETTO ) My other daughter had to lift the sign and she's only 90 lb soak and wet.. Our server came over and apologized And he held the sign for us while we took pictures....they gave us two orders of churros We were very happy because we love Churros... unfortunately the churros that we received were not sweet like the traditional ones that we're used to and it was fried in oil So the churros tasted like nothing but oil It was disgusting I think this was the first time that we actually turned away Churros. Second time here and it was just as lovely as the first! We came here for the first time in 2021 and we're always looking forward to coming back. The food was delicious and the portions sizes were generous. We enjoyed the tuna tartare and the ceviche rojo as appetizers. Drinks were a perfectly balanced lavender spritz and a spicy but not too spicy La Raiz. The meat in the tacos was also a generous and filling portion. This so-called "rooftop" bar is technically located on the 2nd floor and not on the actual rooftop of this building (Moxy Miami South Beach). This "rooftop" cocktail bar offers Latin and Mexican cuisine. My friends picked this place because it was the closest rooftop bar they can find that's close to our hotel (The Kent Hotel). [Parking]: Transient parking rate is $25 for 0 - 4 hours, $40 for 4 - 8 hours, and $49 + tax for 8+ hours & overnight parking. Otherwise good luck with street parking or nearby public parking garages. [How to get to Serena via Moxy's elevators]: Our group initially pressed "Roof Top" elevator button and thought Serena was closed at 10 PM. Just right before our group about to leave the hotel, I checked elevator buttons and noticed "Pool/Bar Fitness" button with a separate label on Serena. Apparently the 8th floor "Roof Top" elevator button actually took us to The Upside Roof Top which only opens from Thursday to Sunday at 5 PM to 9 PM. Serena is located on the 2nd floor with shoes required (okay with flip flops - one of my friends had flip flops and no issue) at Serena. [Atmosphere]: While visitors won't get a good ocean view, the whole lounge felt very Instagrammable with vibrant and lushly planted terrace. There are multiple spots to take cute pictures with friends. Unfortunately due to how hot and humid Miami can get in summer, this open-air bar can get somewhat uncomfortable. [Menu]: Last call on food was 10:30 PM and our group had to rush our orders. Food include guacamole, raw oysters, ceviche, tacos/tostadas, quesadillas, and other miscellaneous entrees. Drinks include tequila, mezcal, beer, and various cocktails. Non-alcoholic drinks include Mexican coke, Mexican sprite, Red Bull, and fresh coconut. *** Fresh coconut ($12): The coconut got a cute umbrella with "South Beach Moxy" imprinted on my coconut. Honestly can't really complain with this non-alcoholic option or else I would just get a boring diet coke instead. ** Fairly confusing on how to get here with limited ocean view, but otherwise great atmosphere and solid drink options. read more

I've been here twice now, with both times having enough space for large groups and semi-last minute reservations. Connected to the vibey Moxy hotel on their rooftop, the space is gorgeous. Bright flowers and lush greenery with the cutest patio decor. Staff is friendly and hit or miss depending. My favorite item to order to steak tartare. On par with other steakhouse styles. The balance of flavors and spices with the meat is really good and presented beautifully. Other honorable yummy mentions include the Oysters Serena, Guacamole (pricey but shareable), and the tostada (was uni the first time I went). My least favorite dish is the aguachile - it's cooked shrimp and the flavor was very one note of just sourness. For drinks, getting a pitcher of margaritas is a value, making around 6-7 drinks for only $65. They're tasty and have a good ratio of juice to alcohol. After ordering four drinks and appetizers (about $150 before tip), the staff became noticeably dismissive and we were abruptly rushed out immediately after paying.
