Searching for Mexican food while in Miami and came across Alma Mexicana. Browsed their menu and found a CA burrito. What?! I knew I had to check it out to see if it was legit. Indeed it was! Alma's CA burrito came with beans, but I got mine without them. Definitely took me back to the CA burritos that I remember in San Diego. The carne asada was tender and had good flavor. Fries were crispy and didn't take over the burrito. Guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo were a good amount as well. Accompanied by either their green or red salsa, Alma's CA burrito hit the spot. C devoured his side of rice and beans, so guess that was good as well. Alma's was a small establishment with several tables inside. Service was pleasant. Definitely check this place out if you are in the mood for a CA burrito.

Alma was a pretty solid spot a few blocks away from the beach. It's a bit expensive for a counter service place, but the portions justified the cost. I ordered the shrimp fajitas place and it was clear the shrimp was of good quality. The fajita veggies were a bit oily and salty, but absolutely delicious. My friend enjoyed her enchiladas as well.
Awesome awesome Mexican food. It's off the main strip so prices are better. Staff was super friendly and the food was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!!
Viva Mexico! This place is yet ANOTHER top-notch Mexican eatery popping up in Miami. This is a trend I saw coming and so glad it's here. This place, despite its amazing vibe and look, seemed to be headed to a 3 star due to our first server who was unexpectedly unhappy and cold. BUT then another server started helping us and she saved the day, she was all smiles and so hospitable. Anyway, THE FOOD! I ordered their delicious all-day breakfast option and one of my all-time favorites home style meals... Chilaquiles! This is tortilla chips quickly stewed in green salsa, topped with onion and chihuahua cheese and served with crumbling white cheese, two over medium eggs and a dollop of sour cream on top. Daaaaamn (in my Chris Tucker voice) this is perhaps the most amazing Mexican brunch dish ever. Beans and rice on the side of course, these were excellent. I washed it all down with their horchata and pineapple juice. Horchata was good, but watery, not going to win any awards but good. Pineapple was tasty, fresh and perfect with the meal. They also have Mexican sodas. This spot gets 4 because I'd come back for another serving of those chilaquiles without hesitation.
Service was great. Went into the restaurant around 9pm and was immediately sat. Food came in quick after ordering. If you are looking for a simple menu and enjoy simple meals alma Mexican is a great place to go!
This is some of the best food I have had in Miami Beach and the margarita really hits the spot. The smothered burrito is very cheesy and high quality and the service is incredible. I love the wall art! Definitely will be returning. xD
Pretty good Mexican restaurant on the beach with reasonable prices. We tried the California Burrito: Steak, fries, beans, guac, sour cream, pico de gallo and cheese. DELICIOUS! the combination of all of this rolled into a flour tortilla was genius. And, it's huge! it's one of those burritos you can split with a side of chips and guac. Also tried the Steak fajitas: Flour tortillas, Steak, Re fried beans, pico de gallo, cheese and Mexican rice. I wasn't a fan of the tortilla so I skipped them and ate everything else as is. Everything was very flavorful. You can tell the cook loves their job.
Ordered delivery due to COVID and was not disappointed. Everything was packaged very well. I asked for extra hot sauce in the notes and they graciously gave me 6 packets which made me so happy! They followed orders exactly. All of the ingredients were fresh. The chorizo tacos were packed with meat and flavor.
The inside was so cute and I loved the Decor. Our waitress was supper chill and the service was great. We ordered like four things and it came within 15 minutes. The fish tacos were great and same with the carnitas. I would definitely go again.
Cute little restaurant. The decor, and ambiance is laid back, and relaxing. The food is very fresh, and flavorful. Loved the beans, and rice.
Business was closed over an hour early. Went next day instead. Service was good, but the 'tacos al pastor' had a different type of taste. Not a bad taste, but also not what I was expecting when I think of pork tacos.

This place definitely settled the craving for Mexican food. The ac is a little low here but it's not bad at all to eat here. It's still comfortable for all of us. We got the smothered burrito, steak tacos and cheese enchilada. My friends especially loved my smothered burrito. They even offered theee types of sauces: spicy mayo, and a green and red sauce. I highly suggest this place if you are in south beach! I would definitely come back and now I need to make a smothered burrito at home. read more

We are from North Texas so Mexican Food is life for us. We were of corse on Vacation and after being in the KEYS for a few days were craving Our Comfort food. Paying for Chips in any MEXICAN Restaurant Should be a crime. Paying $11.00 is Insane. I get it but don't like it. Just needed to be said. Only One word describes the food "BLAND" VERY BLAND... I've never eaten at a Mexican Restaurant where I had to Use salt to get ANY flavor. Unfortunately that was the case with my Smothered Chicken Burrito. I was so disappointed. My Husband had the Beef Tacos. I sampled the Beef and it was Good. Overall It's OK. read more

First let me start off by saying that I am PICKY about my Mexican food so 5 stars for a Mexican restaurant is kind of a big deal in my book. Pros: - Amazing food - Friendly service - Very good prices - Huge portions - Many options - Authentic/ flavorful/ delicious - Mexican Coca-Cola - Guac came on the carne asada plate (without the annoying person telling you guac is extra) Cons: None Trust me. We loved this restaurant! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! For an appetizer, we ordered the guacamole with chips. It was amazingly delicious. Although it was expensive ($9), the large portion made up for the price. We ordered the fish tacos and the steak burrito. The fish tacos were yummy. It comes with two. The breading on the fish was crispy and just perfect. The steak burrito was also good. They provide you with a lot of different hot sauces. Much appreciated! Overall, the service was fantastic! Our waitress was very attentive. The food came out extremely fast. We did not have to wait long at all. FYI the restaurant is extremely small, so I suggest you get there early to avoid a wait. They also do take-out. read more

BEST. FISH. TACOS. EVER. Someone once told me that Florida has the best fish tacos and they weren't lying. The fish was lightly battered to the point where there was a crunch to each bite, the slaw and sauce was a tasty touch, and the pico de gallo didn't overpower any of the other tastes. It also comes with a few chips on the side. Their menu consists of breakfast burritos (served all day), regular burritos, tacos, and typical sides like chips, salsa, and guac. They also have a self-serve hot sauce stand with mild, hot, and medium. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. There's seating indoors as well as a few tables outdoors. FYI: If you're a tattoo fangirl/fanboy, Miami Ink is 3 doors down from this shop! read more
Authentic casual fast food vibe! I stopped by recently for lunch with a friend while wandering around South Beach. Yelp Mobile pointed us toward a 4 star spot near Lincoln Road and off we went. I went for the chicken fajitas, which were served on a large plate with an even spread of refried beans (not bad), chicken with crispy red and green peppers (highlight!) and pico de gallo. Although I'm not a fan of green stuff, they serve fresh avocado slices instead of pre packaged guacamole. They also get a prize for serving a handful of colored corn chips with the meal (that's right chain Mexican place who's name begins with a "C", these guys spot you some chips :) and two soft, hot slices of some of the largest tortillas mine eyes have ever witnessed! We ordered a margarita that was large enough for two and had enough alcohol content for a mild daytime buzz. Service is cafeteria style, where I ordered and paid first, and wait for my order to be brought to me. This was done fairly quickly, although I had to remind them to bring the sour cream. A small space, it's perfect for a casual lunch. It's a pet friendly space too. The music being played was mostly Spanish, leaning towards corridos. read more
This is a small place with about 8 tables that are very close together. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. They have a small salsa bar with 4 flavors that you put in tiny tiny tiny cups. I wish they had larger salsa cups so you don't have to keep going back to get more. They have hand sanitizer at the register and at the salsa bar. You can also keep refilling your water at the salsa bar. Our food came out quickly. I ordered the steak nachos. They melt shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chips and then on one side of the plate you get a pile of steak, on the other side you get a pile of refried beans, and in the middle you get guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo. I liked having the ingredients placed around the chips so they didn't become soggy. The steak was well seasoned, but the beans didn't have much flavor. There are two tables out front, but no awning. There is a clean restroom for customers. The staff was friendly. I would return if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more
I found this place via yelp and read all the hype for this hole in the wall restaurant. We ventured out here for our last lunch on SOBE, and it was one of the best Mexican food I had while in Miami and cheaper than most of the restaurants. I ordered the paster(sp?) tacos because I saw someone else eat them. I don't normally eat pork, but these were full of flavor and melted in your mouth. They are 4 street tacos that are wrapped with 2 corn tortillas, extremely filling. A friend ordered chicken tacos, and she loved them as well. Another friend ordered steak quesadillas, and her exact word was "you know this is good Mexican when you order a quesadilla, and it taste like real mexican food." If you are tired of eating Cuban food and want Mexican, come here. They also have a salsa bar which I didn't know about until after I finished my meal. Ok so a friend of mines told me about this place... I have been craving REAL Mexican food. With the area being pro dominant Spanish food there is a huge difference. I am from LA so I am extremely picky I know what street tacos and Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Well this is my new go to spot for real! I was so impressed with the food and the meat. The meat had a great flavor marinated and seasoned. I real enjoyed the Al Pastor taco it was crisp and filing. In addition on the enchilada plate you can chose diff meat for each one so I got 1 steak and 1 chicken! Last but not least the margarita frozen The parking is slightly so so because it south beach but won't stop me from coming I can't wait to get back next week read more
This place is amazing! There are probably around 10 tables and it's a little smaller but we had no problems getting seated for dinner. I got the veggie tacos and they were amazing with the different hot sauces they had. My friends enjoyed the shrimp and chicken tacos they got too! Upon touching down in Miami I had one objective besides being present enough during a work conference as to not get fired: find the three most popular taco spots in South Beach, try them all over the course of roughly three hours, and crown a champion in a three way heads up review. That's exactly what I did, and in case you're too lazy to read further, the crown goes to Bodega. Contestants: - Taquiza - Alma Mexicana - Bodega Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You've got three very different vibes here between the three. Taquiza is essentially a classy taco stand with seating, Alma is a proper sit down spot (or at least can be), and Bodega doubles as a bar. Bodega had by far the coolest vibe, Taquiza had the fastest service, and Alma felt like I was a guest in someone's kitchen. All good. Taquiza: Star (1) Alma Mexicana: Star (1) Bodega: Star (1) Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I quickly learned that I need to throw away all my Los Angeles-infused preconceived notions as to what a taco should cost here in South Beach. $3.50 was without a doubt the benchmark virtually across the board, and while Alma's ramped up to $4.00 for their fish taco the tacos were notably larger. Even so stars across the board. Taquiza: Star (2) Alma Mexicana: Star (2) Bodega: Star (2) Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I should be very clear here in saying that all three of these spots dished up exceptional tacos, and below is a summary of what I ordered: Taquiza: 1x Pastor, 1x Chorizo Alma: 1x Pastor, 1x Fish, 1x Chorizo Bodega: 1x Pastor, 1x Chorizo, 1x Crispy Beef Taquiza came out of the gate exceptionally strong with an out of this world Pastor taco, but it was marginally offset by a slightly subpar Chorizo taco on account of being overwhelmingly too salty. Alma had a strong Pastor taco (although not quite as good as Taquiza), and a strong Chorizo taco but a subpar fish taco, and Bodega had wonderful Pastor and Chorizo tacos but a slightly subpar carne asada taco. As far as toppings and salsas were concerned Taquiza was self service with good salsas, Alma dressed up their tacos with tomatoes and a salad of sorts with equally good salsas, and Bodega crushed it with contemporary peripherals and an amazing range of excellent salsas. Believe it or not, all three of these spots deserved and earned two stars here. Taquiza: Two Stars (4) Alma Mexicana: Two Stars (4) Bodega: Two Stars (4) Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? There can in my mind only be one victor here, and on account of their fantastic menu, equivalent prices, great execution and great peripherals, Bodega wins when it comes to south beach tacos.
