Ambiance: 4.0 The restaurant felt like where America meets Mexico. Once you enter the entrance of tall floor to ceiling glass after passing the patio/street area (think New York/Europe), you are met with a rustic feel with baskets as lamp shades and wooden ceiling fans. I was unable to venture upstairs but the tables on the first floor were lined up against the wall which actually gave me more of a sense of privacy. Service: 3.9 I came an hour earlier than my reservation and was seated no problem. The hostess was friendly and the server was prompt. There isn't a dedicated host stand so standing at the entrance next to the bar and a table was a bit awkward. The server was eager to give his recommendations and his honesty was appreciated. However, the pacing of the meal was very slow. Food: 4.0/5.0 Tamal: Normally, I am not a fan of mole. I feel that it often overpowers a dish and I have never been impressed. This Tamal however certainly impresses. The smokiness and spices of the mole (definitely has a kick) blend with the short rib and pico seamlessly. I initially thought maybe there's too much dough relative to short rib, but I think it is needed to balance the flavor of the mole. Grilled Crab Arepa: This one confused me a bit. The taste of crab is extremely faint as there just wasn't much meat on the bottom and the taste of dough was the strongest flavor. The 2 sauces work very well together but I just felt like I was eating a sauced chewy hot cake. Pork Carnitas: Tender meat and flavorful broth. I loved the red onions and the spicy sauce. The warm tortilla was fantastic and make sure you really soak it in the broth to get the full experience. Overall: 3.98/5.0 Coming in, my expectations were high but I think my experience fell a little short. The food was good, but I can't say I had a perfect dish. The staff are amazing, but pace was an issue. As I write my review, I can't help but say "but this, but that", and so the restaurant did not satisfy what I would expect from a Michelin star. read more

Probably the toughest review I have ever written. This was my first time going to a Michelin-starred restaurant, so I had high expectations. First thing I noticed, not sure if this was a Friday night thing, and although the DJ was hitting all the right tunes, the volume made it difficult to hear conversations on our table. But I do want to highlight the service. Our servers knew the menu quite well and were able to guide us to help us make the best choices possible. The reason why this is a difficult review to write is the value of the experience. The food was an adventure; most of the dishes are crafted from a mix of ingredients that on paper look out of place, inspired by Mesoamerican flavors. This means that yes, fruits will be mixed in dishes where you wouldn't think possible. The result was some dishes that were incredible, a flavor explosion in your mouth, while others were just okay, felt flat. The issue is that the average plate is around $30, and I think you need at least 2 per person, which raises the price of the experience. In the end, I think the current Yelp rating represents Los Felix properly. If price is not an issue, this is definitely 4 stars, but once you take value into account, 3.5 is appropriate. But if you are curious about interesting flavor combinations, this might be worth the visit. My Criteria 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 stars: This restaurant should be closed. read more

Los Félix Miami = certified good time. Came in hungry, left emotionally supported by food. Every plate looked like it had a little swagger and tasted even better. The tacos? Absolute yes--juicy, flavorful, topped with onion/cilantro, and the lime squeeze situation was doing the most (in the best way). Then there was this cozy, creamy brothy dish with these lil dumpling-y fresh fish bites floating around like they pay rent there--comfort food but make it fancy. Also... whoever is in charge of sauces here is clearly having fun, and I respect it. One plate had this bright yellow sauce with dramatic dark dots like a chef's version of modern art, and somehow it worked. And the cauliflower... listen... I don't usually get excited about cauliflower, but this one was charred and smoky and basically said "I'm the main character," and honestly? It was. Service was just as solid--friendly, on it, and made us feel taken care of without hovering. And if you need proof this place is the real deal, they've literally got MICHELIN Guide plaques on the wall for 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025--not surprising after eating here. This is a very small casual place with Michelin stars repeated over the years. There are 20 inside seats and about the same amount outside. Reservations are required and a fee to reserve. Street Parking is difficult and lots are about $20 flat. The food is incredible. The guacamole is delicious and the chips are fried in beef tallow. The sweet corn arepa with mushrooms. Amazing also. My fiancé and I went for a nice dinner before our wedding weekend, and I'm really glad we chose Los Félix. Brandon, our server, was professional and friendly, truly 10/10. The food was fantastic. We ordered several small plates to try different things, and everything was delicious. This is exactly why they're a Michelin restaurant. We also went during happy hour. They don't have as many options as other places, but it's still solid. My favorite dish was the grilled octopus with pickled radish, a perfect combo. The totopos were also surprisingly delicious, a different take on the tortilla chip but way better. This is not your usual Mexican restaurant, its Mexican food but with a personalize twist which works really well. Overall a great experience and I 100% recommend. read more

This place cannot be beat! From the moment we stepped inside, we were blown away. The ambiance downstairs is warm, stylish, inviting, with Colombian and Mexican flaire. From fresh flavors, a relaxed atmosphere, and excellent customer service, it made the entire visit unforgettable. We will be back! Jayda, our server and the person who greeted us was excellent from start to finish. Hector, the bartender, was just as wonderful, friendly, attentive, and spot-on with a customized mocktail that matched my flavor profile perfectly. We also had the pleasure of speaking with Josh, the manager, who shared the brilliant concept behind the dual dining experiences upstairs and downstairs. Learning the intentional thought behind the design, menu flow, and overall vibe made us appreciate the restaurant even more. Although a few menu items were not available, what we did enjoy was exceptional; fresh guacamole, flavorful chilaquiles, the egg tostada with pork belly on the side, and pancakes that sealed the deal with sweetness and comfort. Absolutely amazing service and fresh, thoughtful and tasty food. It is Mexican food but with a unique take on familiar favorites which is a nice twist. They also explain to you the dishes as they bring them to your table which adds a layer of interaction. My favorite dish was the grilled octopus. It is in a great location - coconut grove - but surprisingly was not as busy as I was expecting. It has two floors and we sat outside. The happy hour menu is definitely worth it for the drinks too! I made a reservation for Los Felix and am glad that I did because it got very busy around 8pm. The restaurant was quite small inside and had just enough space that you wouldn't bump elbows with the table next to you. It was fairly dark inside with most lights turned off and a few small table lights to add to the mood. My group was greeted immediately once we got seated by our waitress. She went through the menu with us and provided some suggestions. We ordered the crudo, al pastor tacos, crab arepa, corn dumplings, and the pork cheek carnitas. My favorite dishes were the crudo and the corn dumplings. The others were not super interesting and felt pretty standard especially for a Michelin star restaurant. I was most disappointed by how long it took for the dishes to come. The tables were quite small so we'd only get one or two dishes at a time and there was about a 15 minute wait once the dishes got cleaned for the next round to come in. This tempo really ruined the meal for me and I ended up getting quite bored. read more

Overall I enjoyed my meal and appreciate that they have a happy hour that I might visit again. We decided to check this place out because it was part of the Chase Sapphire Open Table restaurant deals in Miami and I'm glad I had the opportunity to enjoy it and try many dishes. The place is a bit expensive so I think it's best to go if you have this card or to share a variety of dishes with some friends. The place is a little small but we enjoyed dining outside. We ordered the guacamole and chips from happy hour to start which was a good appetizer but the amount of guacamole was on the smaller side. They brought complimentary popcorn to tables but we had to ask a couple times before they brought my table some. We also enjoyed margaritas, the tamal, pan-roasted cauliflower, corn dumplings, and the daily catch. All their menu features corn, although the daily catch did not have any and was a little bland and could have used a side. I most enjoyed the corn dumplings that were a great texture and came with a flavorful sauce. I had hoped the tamal would have featured more short rib. The cauliflower was flavorful but probably overpriced for what the dish includes. All in all the meal was tasty but probably only worth it with the Open Table deal. I would come back for a margarita for happy hour and to enjoy the corn dumplings, but most of my other dishes I have forgotten about mostly since dining there. read more

Service was great. Food was fresh and good -- but nothing that was out of the world unique. Perhaps our expectations were a bit high because of the Michelin star. Don't get me wrong, everything tasted good. But nothing that we can't get for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price in Southern California where we are from. The car it's tacos needed more seasoning and some spice/heat for us. The lobster dumplings ($42) were a nice, elevated dish, but still lacked seasoning to our taste and could have used with a punch of freshness from some additional herbs. Shockingly, what we will remember the most is the popcorn they serve when you start; that WAS out of this world as they don't use seed oil too it but instead use beef tallow. I've eaten at Per Se, Alinea, The French Laundry, you name it. I know what Michelin-star dining is supposed to be. This place? An absolute disgrace. Two hours of pure regret. I would've had a better experience at Taco Bell. Broken furniture. Cramped seating on a sidewalk. People constantly bumping into you. Homeless individuals yelling nearby while you're trying to eat. This isn't fine dining--it's chaos. This restaurant doesn't deserve a Michelin star. It doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence. I couldn't sit inside because there was an incense/smoky odor which triggers migraines for me, so I sat outside. They do a nice job at making it feel serene and secluded even though you're eating next to the road. The service was lovely. The food was great. The yuca flatbread and that butter was memorable, roasted corn with a butter cardamom honey that you want to smother on everything. Wow! Just a great experience overall. The service was exceptional from the moment we walked in. It was a weekend and they had a brunch menu. I loved it because it was not the typical brunch, all eggs and French toast, boring!!There was a great selection of appetizers and main dishes. We had the Grilled days catch and the Pork Cheek Carnitas. They come with handmade tortillas to make your own tacos. I can't explain how much we enjoyed the dessert, Seasonal Granita. Easily one of the best meals I've had in a long time! To start, the Guacamole and Totopos. The simplicity of the fresh handmade corn chips (fried in beef tallow) paired so well with the fresh, creamy guacamole. The Egg tostada was bold and packed with punchy flavors, layered with just the right amount of spice. The Chicken tamal - my personal favorite - tasted like something straight out of a home kitchen. The tamal is stuffed with moist and tender chicken - perfectly covered in 2 rich, flavorful sauces - one is smoked paprika & tomato and the other is heirloom black beans - topped with pickled onions. Just perfectly delicious. The Sweet corn arepa was slightly sweet with a crispy outside - stuffed with queso fresco and paired with grilled oyster mushrooms. A perfect balance. Lastly, the Grilled Key West snapper was incredibly fresh. It's served on top of a banana leaf and topped with crispy rice and a decadent hazelnut enulsion. Our experience here was a little mixed. The menu was very thoughtful and interesting, and I loved the farm to table vibe they were going for. The selection of local beers and interesting cocktails was nice too, including a long list of mocktails. I really enjoyed all the dishes we tried--there was a nice wholesome earthiness to them--particularly liked the tamal. However, the service here left something to be desired. Our waiter was quite slow and we went long stretches of time waiting for dishes or even to get drinks refilled--we probably would've spent more if we had the opportunity, but the waiter was never there. They were friendly and helpful when present though--but it didn't even seem that busy for them to go without seeing us for that long. They also actively discouraged us ordering from the Miami Spice menu, which was weird. There was enough to like that I'd try it again, but I'm not so sure my wife would join me! read more

While visiting Miami I searched for some good spots in the area and found Los Felix. The restaurant has a modern feel to it. Sleek wooden furniture and neutral decor. I was there for brunch. They have a different dinner menu. I started with the Day's Catch Crudo and followed it with the pork cheek carnitas. The pork cheek was very tender and accompanied by freshly made tortillas. Everything tasted fresh, and the plates were beautifully presented. I also had the Palomita cocktail, which was very refreshing. The service was also very attentive and I appreciated learning about the ingredients they use and the creativity in each dish. Overall, I had a pleasant meal, but my socks weren't completely knocked off by my meal. read more

I've been to Los Felix three times so far, and I loved it each time, so I don't understand why the rate on Yelp is so low! Yes, it can be pricey, but totally worth it.   The Al Pastor tacos are so delicious, and I loved the twist with pineapple pieces, which adds some freshness and pops of flavor. They make tortillas in-house, and you really can taste the craftsmanship. Also, they serve tacos with 3 sauces, so you can play and combine everything. My boyfriend is from Mexico, and he said those tacos tasted authentic.   As a seafood lover, I was completely blown away by the Grilled Day's Catch (black grouper). It literally made me roll my eyes in pleasure, and it was the best grilled fish I've had in my life. The hazelnut sauce enhances the delicate flavor of the fish with its sweetness, and the crispy rice adds some crunchiness to this melt-in-your-mouth dish. 1000/10   Also, pan-roasted cauliflower is my heartfelt recommendation. I'm a fan of extravagant combinations, and I found them in this cauliflower. If you want my boyfriend's rec, he says pork cheek carnitas are great.   The service is always very friendly and feels sincere.   Haha, I had a strong desire to go to Los Felix while writing this review. I was very impressed with what they do with the flavors and ingredients, but honestly it's a bit too pricey for what you get. $48 for the Wagyu sope and my partner and I finished it in a few bites. Los Félix has been on my list for quite sometime and I was so happy a last minute reservation was available. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were accommodating and friendly. I could sit there and eat the totopos all day if I could. I loved that I was able to sit at the counter and see the cooking happen right in front of me. It added to the experience. My only note would be that we did not particularly like our drinks but they were made well. You could taste that the drink was balanced but we just did not like the flavors. We were really looking forward to trying Los Félix, and I have to say--the service was absolutely lovely. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and they even brought out a complimentary glass of champagne to help us celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch. The popcorn was also yummy! Unfortunately, the experience took a turn once we ordered drinks. I got the espresso martini (called the Espresso Martinez), and it was genuinely the worst espresso-based drink I've ever had--bitter, unbalanced, and hard to finish. We glanced around at the portion sizes of the food and, paired with the steep prices, decided to cut our losses and leave after finishing our drinks. $30 for a single cocktail (with tip) is pretty wild, especially when it completely misses the mark. Hats off! Los Felix absolutely delivered on my expectations. I have been wanting to take my partner for some good chilaquiles for a while, and we keep finding places that just disappoint us. I am so happy to say that Los Felix did not disappoint! We made a reservation for a Saturday brunch to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arriving, our table was ready and we were received with a menu that read "happy anniversary", along with a glass of bubbly to congratulate us on our anniversary This quick welcome was followed by some popcorn and their trio of salsas while we decided what to eat and drink. I only wish the salsas were in bigger containers as they were AMAZING! All three of them had great textures, flavor, and very different one from the other to really entice your palate and prepare you for the incredible food that's to come next. We ordered a couple of drinks, a Julieta, a Margarita, and a sangria Felix. All of them were not only well presented in terms of esthetics, but they were also delicious with the right balance of sweetness and alcohol. Onto the delicious food, obviously we ordered the chilaquiles since it was the main reason for our visit. The blue corn tortillas, we found out from our server, that they were prepared in house, and the corn came from small farms that they have relationships with. Really nice to hear the story behind the blue corn tortilla choice and I am sure I am not giving it justice here. We also ordered the pork cheek carnitas which sounded out of this world! (And they sure were). The portion was incredibly generous, we did not even finish it since we wanted room for dessert (but trust me, warmed up the next day, they were even better! ). I wish I had been sent home with a load more of the incredible sauces, but I guess I'll just have to come back again to satisfy my craving. And finally, for dessert, we ordered the envuelto, which was very much outside of my comfort zone. I'm not a big fan of the 'tamal style' in which the sweet corn was presented, and honestly expected a bit more guava and queso fresco in the center as that would have been delicious (in my eyes). But it was really satisfying nonetheless. This is definitely worth a return visit, I want to try so many of the dishes I did not have enough room for, and cannot wait!
