Finally got a chance to try this location, needless to say it was very clean and the food was what I expected.

Stop by today to pick up lunch since I had a $10 birthday award. I ordered a Diablo burrito with steak for myself and a bean and cheese burrito for my daughter. I asked for their verde salsa ( so good!!) and their 6 chilies salsa. Didn't have to wait too long for them and the guy taking my order was super friendly!! When I got home I noticed burritos were a good size & perfect temperature. I made a couple stops before going home , target & Best Buy and they were still nice and warm. They had a perfect ratio of ingredients. I loved their verde salsa I made sure my burrito had a good amount. They gave me 2 bags of chips and they tasted fresh and a perfect amount of salt. My daughter loved her bean and cheese. I look forward to coming back and trying other menu items!!! read more

Really great tasting fresh food! I got a Baja bowl with chicken and a side of chips and guacamole it was around $15 including a drink. I came during lunch rush hour and my meal was still brought out and ready for me in under 10 minutes. Everyone was friendly and I had an overall pleasant time enjoying my lunch here. 12/16/21 - In Modesto just riding through town, looking for some bargains on some Christmas gifts. I wanted something to eat, but not drive thru, or too fancy and I thought about this place!!! I haven't been to Baja Fresh in a long time, so I didn't know what was new or improved!! I ordered a Diablo burrito with steak and a can of coke. My order came to $14.00 or 15.00 which was a little pricey for what I got: a steak burrito, chips, soda and salsa and guacamole. The place was clean and had a very few customers trickled in, it was after 8 and only two couples and myself dining-in. I only saw one order going out by a delivery service and one customer picking up food to take home. I was hungry and forgot to take a picture. The food was good, but very plain. Wow oh wow the portion have changed in a matter of months to this. When approached after witnessing the staff cut my steak in half and serve me half of my portion, I asked the manager Norma A. If the portion was right as you can see I the picture to which she replied "yes, that is the correct portion. Sorry I have ate at Baja Fresh for a long time and that is not the correct portion. It doesn't matter what portion you buy you should get what you pay for. To make matters worse a chicken quesadilla was made as a regular quesadilla, this trip was not a good one and we drive to this close restaurant because we like the food sadly that is no longer the case. Service was slow took awhile to wait for my take out order. Ordered baja chicken bowl and chicken quesadilla. Chicken in baja bowl was burnt and you can taste the char in it. Manager seemed irritated that I had to call my wife to find out what kind of beans she wanted in the bowl. Her attitude went down after that! Seemed friendlier to the haole dude and even allowed him to get his own condiments and said have a nice day as he left. I had to get some quick food before my Amtrak train departure and this place nailed it. I got there, they had all the COVID safety nets in place, friendly service, and my food was ready very quickly. Don't do it !! Food gave me and my husband diarrhea after one hour of eating there. After a couple bites of the steak fajitas we knew something was wrong and told the staff that our food taste bad and they were happy to exchange our meal for chicken tacos. However it is too late. We should have know because the place is not the same. It's dirty , the tables are sticky. Another clue .... very few people there on a Saturday afternoon at noon . Forgot to mention the tortillas were dried out and stale tasting. For the price we paid we could have went to a real restaurant and gotten way better food and been served . I understand that during Covid food is not going to be like it used to be. But this was unacceptable. And completely avoidable. I got to fish tacos and the corn tortillas that were used were dripping with grease. It's like they dipped them in oil right before building the taco. absolutely disgusting. Fast food??? Nope this is fresh food. A great salsa bar is offered with tons of different items and fresh limes. I watch my weight and they actually clearly display calories count. The BBQ Chicken Salad is amazing with fresh fresh items avocados, tomatoes, kale, jicama etc. a delicate dressing drizzled over it. So yummy. Baja Fresh is American-Mexican food at it's best. Ideal for those who value freshness and quality ingredients over...well, what you find at most Mexican restaurants or taco trucks. The advertise that they don't use freezers, lard, msg, etc in their cooking, and I think it comes through in the food. Those who adore authentic Mexican dining will probably be disappointed in the lack of seasoning, etc. The Burrito Dos Manos is HUMUNGOUS. It comes divided in two and will feed 2 violently hungry people, or three normal people. Trust me, I have a large appetite, and one half of this thing nearly killed me. The Baja Taco (fish taco) was excellent. They use fresh Mahi-Mahi fillets for which I was grateful; I didn't miss that freezer burn taste I get from most fish tacos at all. My family prefers the Fajita Burrito which was recently taken off the menu -- but they'll still make it for you. Bonus star for good service! I love the salsa bar. You can take as many plastic containers as you like. The pico is fresh, the green sauce has a nice little kick, and they even provide cilantro! I highly recommend the take out trays for large groups of people/parties. I first had Baja Fresh at a function where it fed about 60 hungry dancers. The best thing about the fresh ingredients is that you can fill up without feeling like there's a brick in your stomach afterwards (like many Mexican restaurants make me feel). This place is very clean - I love how you can see them preparing food, just behind the counter. It always makes me feel a little more secure when a restaurant has nothing to hide. ;) Again - this is Mexican food for white people - not in the taco bell kind of way, it's excellent food, just don't go expecting what you've had at Chevy's, Acapulco, El Rosal or La Morenita, etc. You'll taste the difference in quality and freshness. I'm so sad to have to do this, but after a recent experience with a to-go order of burritos. I've become much less of a fan. Hubby went to pick up a couple of burritos here because we had a buy one get one free coupon. The drive is a good 10 to 15 minutes from home, so when he got back and realized what was wrong with our burrito's, driving back wasn't really an option. Hubby said it wouldn't be worth it to call and complain and go all the way back, so we just decided to eat them. I don't remember what his issue was with his exactly, I just remember it being nearly inedible. I had ordered a nacho cheese chicken burrito, and not only was there NO nacho cheese whatsoever, but there was no CHEESE of any kind on it! It was so dry, and I was so disappointed, I wanted to cry. You just don't screw with a pregnant woman's burrito. I tried adding my own cheese and melting it, but it still sucked. Very disappointing experience :( read more

Food quality and service in the last 3-6 months has been extremely inconsistent. I used to eat here weekly and know what good quality used to look like. Can never seem to get my order right. I always get no meat in a burrito, today they decide to skip the cilantro and onion too. I never said I don't want cilantro or onion. My Diablo burrito was cold and barley had Diablo sauce. Employees always come across unprofessional when taking phone orders and running the register. The credit card reader wouldn't read my card, I was forced to do cash.
