I first tried this location the first month that they were open. The drive-thru version of the food was not so good by the time someone dropped me off. The food in the restaurant was much better. That was three or so years ago. When you walk inside, they may or may not be acknowledging your presence. They may or may not be cleaning. It didn't look dirty, for example, but I could see chicken breading bits on the table tops. Someone went to the cash register and took my order and gave me my cup after I paid and there wasn't a ton of ice to remove. The Sweet Tea was ready and the napkins weren't in the dispenser backwards this time. When they called my name, I got my food and I could see that they didn't take care to bread the chicken all the way. That's been a failing since their first year open. The food is super good! The friend chicken, the fries and the bread, my favorite would always be the cane's sauce though. I would say, the ambiance was good, the atmosphere and everything were nice especially the smell. However, some times the tables are not clean, which is understandable since there is a lot of customers now and then. The service were good when I went there, they were all very nice and even come ask if we need anything else when we decide to dine in. The service however could be a little bit more bad in the afternoon, evening or so. Which is again, understandable, the workers being through a long day probably, so I really didn't mind any of it as long as their food was still good. Hot fresh chicken! That's what separates Cane's from KFC or some of the burger joints or frankly homemade Tyson nuggets. It's the "made to order" hot fresh chicken, unfortunately at this location now I've had two experiences that lead me to believe that this Motto has been lost on the management at this location.. I work in Modesto, but I live in Manteca, at least once a month on a Friday or Saturday night, my wife and I go to Manteca to a very busy Cane's location. Sometimes we wait 10-15 minutes but the chicken comes back piping hot and crispy. The bread is hot. The fries are crispy warm . Eventhough at my age, I don't need the calories, It's a special treat, I look forward to after working hard all week . On two occasions however, my patience was lacking and I stopped by the Modesto location . This last time I walked in ordered a box combo went to wash my hands literally 15 seconds later it was sitting on the counter that should've been my first clue. The chicken was warm, but not the usual hot chicken and it was oily and the oil kind of tasted a little bit rancid like it had been not changed in the appropriate time. The french fries were cold and limp and the bread was well. Just soft tepid Texas toast. Against my better judgment I continue to eat the chicken, hoping maybe the next piece would prove the last tender aberrant. Alas, I was wrong, but I could not help but to let the very nice people who work there, including the manager know that I felt that this was not made to order nor was it fresh and maybe it was left over from someone else's order or reheated. It would be physically impossible to make it fresh to order when it was boxed up on the counter in 15 seconds. Of course the manager proceeded to gaslight me and say they saw me coming through the parking lot, but I could've been ordering a sandwich or a drink. I admire their courtesy and professionalism, but just admit the truth. It was a slow day, which itself is unusual and maybe it result of others experiencing the same at this location. Needless to say, the moral of the story is : go on a very busy Friday night, ro a busy location where they have no choice, but to make your chicken to order as they are running behind. Moist & flavorful fried chicken, goes well with their Texas toast & house sauce (which is similar to thousand island dressing.) Crinkle-cut fries are just ok, & we 86 the cole slaw in favor of more toast every single time. Combo comes with a drink, I'm partial to their lemonade. Raising Cane's falls into the category of foods I'm obsessed with simply because they aren't easily accessible to me. Unfortunately the service in Modesto doesn't match our typical Raising Cane's experiences between most of CA, all of HI, and parts of NV. Centrally located in a busy plaza with constant traffic in and out. Parking is obstructed by the snaking of their drive thru lines and there isn't curbside service so park in the adjacent spots towards World Market. They offer mobile orders but don't allow for pickup in the drive through. They instruct you to park and walk in to retrieve from the employees who are too busy chatting to retrieve your order. My son absolutely loves "Cane's"! In my opinion it is like an "In N Out" for chicken strips. In the same way that the burger place has a limited menu to keep things moving fast, is what Cane's has done with only chicken strips. We have tried a few locations of this chain fast food joint. Modesto (albeit smaller) is our favorite. The main manager is amazing! We like the food, the sauce, and the sides. So, I typically like the chicken strips and a piece of Texas toast buttered on both sides. They have French fries, coleslaw, and the toast I mentioned as their sides. If you don't like coleslaw, like me, ask to sub it for an extra piece of toast. You'll be happy you did! My friend says the coleslaw is always salty at Cane's. Hmmmm... I don't care for the mustard sauce they make in house. However, the Cane's sauce is not too bad. I am a hard critic to please when it comes to sauce, and Cane's special sauce passes muster for me!! Those are the only two sauces they have. So, if you like BBQ, Ranch, or something else... you are outta luck! The homemade lemonade was just ok for me, my friend didn't care for it at all. The best deal when we dine here is to order two Caniac Combos. Each combo comes with 6 chicken fingers, 2 Cane's sauce, French fries, a soda, and 2 sides (comes with coleslaw and toast). I visited during the busy lunch period on a Sunday. I was impressed by the efficient service despite the crush of orders. The food goes without saying. Raising Cane's is the closest thing to Zaxby's I've seen yet. The whole model and menu seems designed to follow Zaxby's success as close as possible without being an outright imitation. The chicken fingers, the sauce, crinkle fries, and sweet tea all harken flashbacks for me. Proof positive is that my son, an expert in chicken tenders and fries in his own right, ranks Raising Cane's #2 right behind Zaxbys on his all time favorite list. I went through the drive thru and it is what you would expect on a Grand Opening week...CROWDED! I ordered (2) 4pc combos and (1) 3pc combo. Each combo came with a Texas toast, a coleslaw side, signature dipping sauce (I added 1 honey mustard), crinkle-cut fries, your number of chicken fingers and a drink. They forgot the slaw in one of my combos and forgot napkins, although I believe the plastic wrapped knife and for may have had something in it to wipe hands but, I didn't check honestly. The chicken fingers are a hit and I would order again. I preferred the honey-Mustard sauce over their signature sauce. The crinkle-cut fries were good for crinkle-cut cut fries but, nothing to write home about. Can't tell you about the slaw because they forgot it and I failed to ask my wife how it was. I will probably order in next time because the food container made the fries a little soggy...not so much that it was a deal breaker. It did that to the chicken a little bit too. This was my first time ever having Raising Cane's. I have been driving by since they opened and seen the drive thru line that was ridiculously long and figured it may be a few months before I would give it a try. As it so happened, I was shopping at World Market on Christmas eve at about 12:30. I saw the line of cars, but figured I's at least walk in and check out the line. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to walk right up and be the second person in line waiting to be helped. The inside of the restaurant was immaculately clean, due I am sure at least in part to the fact that they just opened. Even so, there were people constantly out in the dining area emptying trash and keeping things clean. It has kind of a cool vibe in there with music playing, some great local and other art and decorative pieces, and lots of color. What immediately struck me were the people working in the kitchen - they were moving fast and did not stop. They seemed to be able to keeping things going quickly and efficiently. I decided to order my food to go since I had a lot to do, and the young lady that helped was was super nice and helpful. I ordered the 3 Finger Combo along with one of their lemonades. I was sold on it because it is made in-house with only 3 ingredients - water, lemons, and cane sugar. The lemonade was perfect for me. Well-balanced and on the tart side, just like I prefer. I had to work hard not to finish it before I left! The food took several minutes to be ready, but I totally didn't mind - they cook food to order, and I don't mind waiting for fresh food. I picked up my order and ate at home, and I was super happy overall. The chicken was fantastic. The breading was super crunchy, and the chicken fingers were perfectly cooked and moist on the inside. The fries were just fries - they had lost a little bit of crispiness, but that was due to me choosing to take them to go. They were tasty and well-salted. The Texas Toast was super tasty as well - it was nice and chewy, which was a nice contrast in texture. And that Cane's sauce... it really was interesting (in a good way). i really wish I could place what exactly was in the sauce, but suffice it to say that it is well-seasoned and very flavorful. It went quite well with the chicken! Overall I was very happy with my food and the experience at the restaurant. I will definitely be going back! I will say their food is good and simple. But if you want to make sure your order is correct DO NOT ever go there when they are busy because they will make mistakes and a lot of them and then trying to get it corrected will even take more time. The past few times I have gone there I will ask for extra bread and no coleslaw and they'll give me no coleslaw but then they don't give me the extra bread and in this case I ordered a meal that's supposed to come with a large drink and they ended up giving me a medium and I couldn't even get anybody's attention to get it switched because they already had me pull so far forward that I couldn't ask them. read more

She gave us recommendations and we were impressed by her attitude and enthusiasm. Got the chicken sandwich combo and strips and coleslaw. Everything was tasty. Also liked the cane sauce. It is rare that you have staff as friendly and helpful as we had at a place where the worker does not rely on a tip. We would recommend! After the previous debacle I had on Mother's Day at Raising Cane's, I came back for the Father's Day buy one get one Box Combo special. I was hoping this time it would be a five star experience. Sadly, it was not. When I went to order, I told the cashier she would need to enter my Caniac Club Card manually as it was not swiping correctly. She did not listen to me and proceeded to tell me the card was not activated after she tried to swipe it numerous times. I again told her she needed to manually enter the card number, not swipe it. After that the card showed that I had two credits on my account. She then asked me which credit I wanted to use. I was there for the Fathers Day BOGO Box Combo special, so common sense says I wanted to use the Box Combo BOGO credit, not my Birthday Caniac credit. As Voltaire states, common sense is not so common. I was very polite with the cashier, but she was showing distain towards me and rolled her eyes. She then proceeded to ask me what type of drinks I wanted even after I informed her twice I was getting fountain drinks, not the natural lemonade. She then told me that she did not have enough change to give me and was going to short me and if that was OK. I told her no. I would wait and come back for my change. Her distain and rudeness then amplified. She then went and got a manager who opened another drawer and gave her change to give to me. The cashiers attitude was totally uncalled for and unwarranted. I did not get her name. When our food came, it was delicious. I can't fault them for the food. Yum! While I was dining, I asked a worker if he could take some trash from my table. He did so with a smile. I then asked him if he could bring me a to go box. Again he did so politely and with a friendly smile. I asked him his name, he told me Harrison, and said that he was a new employee. I commended him on his excellent customer service skills and told him that I would tout him to management. Just before we were done eating, my friend went up and ordered some food to go from Saul. He had excellent customer service skills and was very friendly. He made it a point to ask if she needed anything else and thanked her for our business. Harrison and Saul are the type of workers that make businesses grow. The cashier could have learned a serious lesson from them. For the food I rate it a solid 4.5 stars. For the cashiers poor service I rate her a zero. For Harrison and Saul's exemplary service I rate them a 10! I can't leave 2.5 stars on Yelp so I am leaving a 2 star overall. If it were not for Harrison and Saul, this would have been another 1 star experience. I know that the store manager Lady "A" will see this Yelp. Please be sure to commend Harrison and Saul on their fine work. Your employees are a direct reflection on you and your business. My advice, send in a mystery shopper, weed out the bad apples, and your business will flourish. read more
