Terrible service. Cashier gave us a look like she wished we'd go away. We wanted our food to stay, but were given it to go even though it was an hour before closing. While we waited for our food, a former employee came in and had a long, loud conversation with the current employees full of cursing, complaining about work and being unable to pass drug tests. One of the current employees said he could never pass a hair test if he was required to take one. Our food was not brought to us, we were summoned loudly to the counter to pick it up; and the former employee picked it up and handed the bag to me so I wouldn't interfere with the ongoing conversation, I guess. We finally went outside to get away from the lowlifes inside. Food was OK, but for being made fresh it was not very warm. Will never go to this location again. read more

The ONLY reason it got two stars is because I love Baja Fresh's food. Before we even walked in, the open sign wasn't on. Then the lady who took our order was rude. I had to ask for my copy of the receipt (she had already walked away and was doing something else but I kept standing there and had to specifically ask for my receipt) and when I looked at it, I was charged $8.99 for a quesadilla when I ordered a kid's quesadilla. I let the same person know and she told me she charged me for the kid's. I showed her the receipt and she walked away. She came back three minutes later, didn't acknowledge me, got $3 from the register (the difference between what I was charged and what I should have paid), held her hand out and said "here." I took the money and went to get salsa. Then I heard her say "well, tell him that the drawer is gonna be off by $3 tonight." Then, they had no pico de gallo! What Baja Fresh doesn't have pico de gallo!? They didn't have napkins either. The place wasn't dirty, but they clearly didn't care. The walls were scuffed and 95% of the pendant lamps didn't even have light bulbs. It took twenty minutes to get our food. The guacamole I paid a $1 for was smaller than their salsa cups! Are you kidding me? I ordered a chicken quesadilla and there was no chicken on my quesadilla. I told the woman and she said "do you want me to cut some chicken up for you?" I took my two boys yesterday (Friday, 9/17) to place an order for take out. To be honest, I am chipotle fan but that did not influence my review in anyway, My kids wanted shrimp and since Chipotel does not have any sea food and we also had a coupon :) for Baja fresh. While Folsom Auburn is a fairly decent strip of road, this area does not feel safe. We saw couple of shady characters lounging the outside dining area. When we walked into the restaurant, there were 2 customers ahead. There is one girl taking orders and another cook. The girl is either new or having a bad day at work. We ordered 2 Burrito bowls with shrimp and sour cream on top (with out the veggies). I had to repeat my order 3 times. She told us it may take 20-30 minutes to get our oder. That is ok and we waited for our order. The customers prior to us got their oders and a lady who came after us got hers too. I wondered WTF was going on and walked to the counter. The cook turned off the grill and went into the back room. The girl who took the order looked at me with a blank face. I asked her for my food and she replied to me "what order"?? So, I had to repeat the order again and wait another 15 minutes. Are you kidding me? Let me get this, I had to wait 45 minutes to get my order in a fast food restaurant? I loved Baja Fresh in Roseville and was disappointed when it closed, so when I saw this location on Groupon I bought one. The restroom was gross with feces on the ground and no paper towels. I understand that the restaurant is attached to a gas station, but the bathroom is shared and disgusting. The food was ok and mostly hot, but that is about the only positive part of the dinner. The counter girl was rude and condescending. The food took 20 minutes and two sets of people who came in after us got their food before us. They only had one mild salsa that was all mango juice. They don't have the pico de gallo or Queso that I came for. The crowning moment was the rats scurrying around the patio where we were eating. I will never go back! read more

What happened? Honestly, this location used to be awesome! Apparently there was a change in ownership and now it is horrendous! The place was filthy, food all over the tables & floors. Trash cans were overflowing.....the gas station attendants were cooking the food....they were microwaving everything....the soda machine was broken, you had to go into the gas station for a drink.....the made the wrong order, TWICE....it took nearly 40 minutes for 2 burritos, and a taco. They were out of RICE!!!???? So the burritos were all beans...I mean we were honestly perplexed and severely disturbed. Do not recommend this Baja Fresh....sad.so sad. read more

This was by far the worst food ever. I passed by here and needed to stop to eat. You know it's bad when you haven't eaten all day, I was starving, and you still end up throwing away the food and go hungry instead. First off, the place was so dirty. Then it took 5 minutes to process the payment! The cashier was literally hitting the monitor to get it to work... not a good sign. It was expensive. I paid over $10 for a plate of food. No drink included. One plate of beans, rice, and two tacos. The rice was mushy and disgusting. The beans - no flavor. The fish tasted like frozen food from a grocery store prepackaged dinner, a few flakes of lettuce, and rancid chips that tasted like chips from last week that they refried. This experience was the opposite of "eat fresh". Honestly I was hesitant to leave a review because I hate leaving bad reviews, BUT this place really needs to step up their game. There aren't a lot of places to eat in that area and they are missing out on a great opportunity to corner the market. Quality, Cleanliness, and Customer Service - improving in just one of these areas will do wonders. read more

I ordered a salad with chicken and two fish tacos for 2 people and it was more than we could eat. The salad had lots of chicken and the fish tacos we're very fresh and very tasty. The service was great, the staff was friendly and attentive. The inside was very clean, the salsa bar had a great selection of quality salsas. I have been a big fan of Baja Fresh for a very long time. All the local locations have shuttered so this is the only one I have left to visit. All I can say is...run far away. The girl at the register took my order (I paid cash), then proceeded to begin making our food with the same dirty hands that handled the money and register. Could not believe she would not wash her hands first. I immediately looked around at the counters and salsa bar and realized this place is just plain dirty. They do not take care of the place and the service was just horrible. I asked for a refund and let her know exactly why. She could not care any less. read more

This was the first time I've ever been to Baja Fresh and I was trying to ask the cashier about the menu, she was very short with me and plainly annoyed that I was asking about the menu instead of just ordering, she got very rude with me. Went to this hidden place with a Groupon - and it was definitely worth it! The outside may not be impressive, but the food is absolutely fantastic - the tacos were homemade and fresh, the sauces were all made fresh, as were the chips. Had gone there in the past and had no complaints. Was always a solid step up as far as fast food Mexican food chain restaurants go. Showed up last night a few minutes before 8:00 P.M. with my daughter and her boyfriend. They were out of steak and black beans, so we adjusted our orders. As we filled our drinks and our salsa cups, the next customers to approach the register were told that the restaurant was now closed because it was after 8:00 P.M., which it was. My daughter and I got our food first. My rice, pinto beans and the grilled fish in the tacos were cold. The corn tortillas of the tacos were slimy. My daughter's shrimp nachos appeared fine at first. As she ate the nachos, she found a thick layer of salt between the food and the plate, which ruined the taste of anything resting on the salt. My daughter's boyfriend got his burrito at least 7 minutes after the first two orders came out. Although this kid is super skinny, he eats massive quantities in no time at all. He also doesn't complain. His burrito arrived with a thick dusting of salt on it. After scraping off the salt, he began to eat it. After he got about half way through the burrito, he pushed it away and said he was finished. I wish we would have arrived at 8:05 P.M. I could have saved over $30.00. Was the staff upset that we arrived so close to quitting time so they intentionally made the food badly? Or, has this place fallen so far down that it's usually this bad all the time? Either way, next time we go out for Mexican food we know what to avoid. Do yourself a huge favor. Next time you feel like Mexican food and remember how good Baja Fresh used to be..... just skip going there and keep those good memories, rather than waste your money on a big disappointment. I would give this place 5 negative stars if I could. The soda dispenser even leaked out of the front of the nozzle and onto my hand as I filled the cup. read more

Horrible experience. The female at the cash register was extremely unfriendly and obviously didn't want to be there. We had only been here once before and were unfamiliar with the menu so we took some time to order. We were the only people in line. While we were deciding, the unfriendly employee could have told us that they were out of rice. No, she waited until after we ordered. (What kind of Mexican restaurant runs out of rice?). After we paid, she informed us that they were out of juice boxes. She rudely offered me an extra soda. My son doesn't drink soda so he was without a drink. The salsa bar looked as if it hadn't received any attention in hours. The ice was mostly melted. There were no cups for the salsa. When I inquired, the male employee pointed to the EMPTY carrier and said that they were there. After we received our food, the employees decided to close early and started cleaning up around us making it impossible to enjoy our food. I will never go back!! read more

Love the food - but way overpriced and huge hassle getting what used to be a simple "veggie burrito." Had to wait a while to order though there was no line and just a couple of people in the restaurant. Woman working the cash register looked confused and was completely unhelpful when we asked for veggie burritos. We tried to figure out how to get what we wanted (a simple veggie burrito!) from the posted menu, and finally thought we figured it out, but the price was over $9.00 for one - weren't they just over $6 at the (now closed) Roseville location? When we got the order, they had it wrong and "corrected" it (so they thought). As we finished eating, we heard someone else order a "veggie burrito" and get the same runaround - seems he could order a "veggie burrito" for $6 but when I questioned why mine was $9, the employee said that his didn't come with rice - even though he specifically asked for beans, rice, veggies ... Worst place ever...we spent over $50 for some tacos, salads and taquitos. When we placed our order they didn't even have the 2 new salads that were advertised so we had to order something else. Then when we got home we found out they didn't even give us the 4 taquitos we ordered which were on the receipt. We made a phone call and told them and they said to come in and receive 50% off and a coupon for 2 free tacos for our next visit. We had already paid obviously and picked up our food so we couldn't get the 50% off they offered. We drove all the way back to get our missing taquitos and they told us they only had 2 left and it would take another 30 mins to make more. Frustrated and pissed off we took the 2 taquitos and came home. The taquitos looked and tasted horrible. Burnt, small and plain. In the bag there was a coupon for 1 free taco but yet the manager clearly stated we would get 2. We will never go back to that place and we will definitely tell our friends and family to stay away from there as well. The rest of the was cold and very plain. read more
