My friend and I really enjoyed our experience at Baja. We sipped on Pina Coladas and Margs while enjoying our dishes. The drinks came out pretty quick, especially considering we dined during peak lunch time. The food came 10-15 minutes later. As a veggie-lover, I super appreciated the amount of lettuce that came with the steak salad. A lot of restaurants sometimes only put in enough for a few bites and make me question how they can call it a salad. However, Baja's salad was substantial and very generous with their lettuce and steak portions! The steak was seasoned well. The quesadillas were a little dry for me, but the side of guac and sour cream helped. The portion was also very filling--so I can't complain too much. We've been eating at Baja every summer since 2020. We often go multiple times a week. Today they ripped us off and said "it's a beach town." My kids usually get chicken finger meals (see the size comparison pic). Today my daughter wanted the Kraft Mac and cheese meal. Now we get any time you get Kraft mac at a restaurant you're overpaying. But what she got was a side serving equivalent tiny cup. 180 calories of Mac and cheese. I went back to the counter because surely they were writing this off as a meal. But yes, yes they were. The woman's response was "this is a beach town." I get that. But then call it a side. I came to this spot about 3 years ago randomly and it was good enough that I put it on my list of places to hit when I finally returned. This restaurant is right off the boardwalk so parking can be a problem. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the staff has been descent both times. It's busy and hectic around there so a quiet space is going to be hard to come by. They have some specialty cocktails in addition to their Mexican street menu. They do fresh squeezed crushes which are delicious and I had the American steak street tacos. Our friends had the Baha Tuna tacos. We also got some chicken nachos to share. Food was just as good as I remember it. Knocked down one star because I think they are stretching on their prices but other than that, no problems here. read more

This place is worth it for the view alone. Go at sunset and enjoy the sky. You can see the ocean and the bridge from the dining areas. Order a crush and you're set. I give Baja a 3.4/5 stars We were itching for an air conditioned place for lunch by the boardwalk and this place did just that. Covered us from the sun a bit. The inside has that new restaurant feel which is nice. I got the cheeseburger, I thought it was good, fresh ingredients, but didn't knock my socks off either. I supposed I would get the tacos next time if I came but they were upwards of $20 for three which seems a bit unreasonable. The staff was friendly and seemed enthusiastic about the place which was awesome. But they did not offer cups of water - only bottled water which was $3 and seemed a bit much. I appreciated that they added the ice and sprite at the last minute so it didn't melt and get diluted. The queso was so unique - it was like a sauce mixed with the cheese. I can't even explain it because I ate it so fast with the chips. The chicken burrito bowl was packed with fresh ingredients. Going back today to try something else on the menu. After placing our order it was announced only a few mins items later over the speaker that it was ready. The best comparison I can think of based on what we prefer was chipotle. The burrito was average size and tasted good but there wasn't anything special here. Same with the chicken tacos that my spouse ordered, decent but nothing amazing that stands out. Their crushes are good and can be easily ordered to take on the go too. You are really paying for convenience here if you need a quick Mexican fix while at the beach as the prices are at least 1/3 more than chipotle for about the same quality. Baja will certainly get the job done if you are looking for something quick and convenient. read more

The food was absolutely delicious - I came in with a group of four on a Sunday, and we were delighted by the food and service/staff. We had deep fried cod tacos, ahi tuna tacos, chips with queso, and a salad (vegetarian friendly option). The portions were filling, the ahi tuna was perfectly medium rare and tasted amazing, the fried cod was perfectly crisp, the tacos were flavorful, the greens/toppings were all fresh, and everything was just delicious. We came with our dog and were able to comfortably sit outdoors. I also want to mention how kind the owners/staff are! I came from a city 2 hours away, and realized that I had left my wallet in the bathroom. I was so fortunate that the owners were so kind - Michelle had saved it for safekeeping and even reported the lost wallet to the police. When I called the next day, she offered to send it to me. I have never been to a food spot with just great quality food and people all around. I'm surely coming back for a visit when my husband and I return to Delaware! read more

Went here with my family for the first time recently. The good: the food was very fresh, all the ingredients were very fresh and looked very appetizing. The restaurant was pretty clean and everyone was friendly. My wife (who is a Mexican food snob) thought the carnitas tacos were delicious. The bad: the prices are very high in my opinion. We spent almost $100 for a family of four and I'm talking 8yo and 13yo girls. I mean, I find the prices in the area to be high, but at home we can do a sit down meal at our favorite Mexican place with tip for about $55...so there was some sticker shock there. I ordered the grilled chicken tacos and although they were fresh and the portions were big, they needed a little more flavor. I added some hot sauce and that helped a lot. Finally, I would recommend the place and probably come here for a lunch or something, and if your pockets are deep, it is pretty good. read more

I like it because I don't generally love tons of spice to my food and this is about as bland as it gets in terms of rice, beans and really anything other then the pico de gallo. 15$ for a burrito is pricey but for the beach isn't too unreasonable. what is unreasonable is that I've gone there 7 times total over the course of 2 years and have only gotten my order correct 2/7 times. (adding guacamole when asked not to, forgetting sour cream *4 times!* adding in veggies, once even making an entirely separate meal..) Walking Bethany Beach a few weeks ago, I came across this establishment. Hungry for as close to Mexico style as I could, I did see tacos and was like YES! I have read the reviews on the burrito bowl, but have to admit, I did enjoy, this did have taste, so I am guessing this has improved since the negative reviews on the burrito bowl, as my order tasted great. The margarita I ordered was a little on the strong side, but, so so cold, ice cream freeze, but it was very good! This is definite Tex Mex and very difficult to find anywhere that is going to match living in Mexico for 6 years but, this allowed me to walk away from a great experience with a very full stomach. Meh. Service was great. We were there after Labor Day, so it wasn't busy in the restaurant but they still seemed to be on their game. They also clearly display other ways you can order ahead to avoid the lines which makes a nice. The food was fresh and portions were good, but nothing special. Only criticism would be that the guacamole had way to much salt and lime. Couldn't eat it. The real reason for the three stars is because of the price. Tacos, guacamole & chips, a "bowl" and two fountain drinks- over $45. For comparison, we had a similar meal from a taco stand in Rehobeth for less than 1/2 that price a few days earlier. STAY CLEAR Some of the worst nachos I've ever had, $14 for this crap, chips are bad, just random pieces put together, steak was chewy with no flavor, cheese was greasy. Nachos were basically chips and pound of bad greasy cheese then throw some beans steak and pico. Pico was terrible, literally they cut up tomato and little onion, and tomato was not cut small enough. The nachos did not fit together overall, no individual parts were good. I guess that's why when every place has an hour wait and this place is empty this would be the reason. I have no problem paying extra for food ok this area as it's near the Beach and seasonal. Put this place 60 miles inland where it would have to survive off their food and it goes out of business within 6 months, if the wait times are insane I would suggest the five guys next door, anything is better than this place. read more
