The salsa was more pico de gallo, but it tasted a little pickle-y. I ordered a tequila on the rocks to get me started. My lunch was grilled fish tacos. The fish was ok but the oicked onions ruined it for me. I ordered small queso to help flavor it. Usually it can be runny but here it was stiff. I took a couple bites if the rice. No. No flavor but not good and no bell peppers or corn in it The beans.... they came in a small portioned cup. They also were stiff. Who serves beans in a cup? Best margaritas ever! They have a ton of different flavors but the house marg is good too. My husband got the habanero marg and he was spiced out for sure and our buddy got the Frozen House Marg. I enjoyed a margarita on the rocks with Herradura Añejo and it was excellent! We got the chicken quesadillas as an appetizer and they were really good with fresh pico de gallo. They have happy hour from 3-6 so we tried to go back the next day with a larger group but they were super busy and our group didn't want to wait. Jen at the bar was the best! So I was super exited to try this place. But I tried there fajitas. The shrimp and steak were wonderful. But the peppers were cut to big, and were hard as a rock :/ I don't believe I'll be back. We stopped in for lunch before a music festival--kind of an odd time to eat, so the restaurant was relatively empty. Overall, though, it was a pretty good experience. Our waiter was friendly, and the food came out piping hot with generous portions. The complimentary chips and salsa were a great start--zingy and fresh. On the other hand, the signature guacamole was disappointing: flat flavor, lacking seasoning, and definitely in need of more salt. The entrées are huge. I split the chicken enchiladas with a friend, and there was still more than enough to share. I appreciated that they used grilled chicken inside instead of shredded--it gave the dish better texture and flavor. The rice and beans were hearty and satisfying. Others in our group enjoyed their chicken tacos, seafood enchiladas, and shrimp quesadillas, all of which looked plentiful and filling. Tequila Mockingbird is a small, Tex-Amex place around 110/115th street! My friend and I went around 6pm and had to wait 25 min before getting seated. The restaurant was packed, which is always a good sign. We were eager to eat, so we ordered our food as soon as we got seated. Within 10 minutes, we had 3 ginormous tacos in front us. TM has been around for many years and this was my first time back in quite some time and I found it very changed and not for the better. They still have a large selection of margaritas but many are made with premade mix. Prices are higher than they should be for the quality of margarita they serve. I cannot speak for the food as we did not have any but it looked and smelled very good. Service is attentive but could be more friendly. read more

My wife's Tequila Burrito tasted oddly like chicken noodle soup. I ordered the pork belly tacos, but they weren't pork belly -- more like pork shoulder -- and the meat was dry. Portion size was fine, but everything was bland and didn't seem fresh. The margaritas were also a letdown -- overly sweet, like they were made with a mixer instead of fresh ingredients. For the price ($20 for tacos, $14 for a margarita), the quality just wasn't there. For our drinks we got a sweet tea, a Negra modelo, red sangria, and a mockingbird margarita. The sangria was different if you like spices in your sangria this is for you and if you don't like spices you won't like this drink. The margarita was good and it was made correctly. Having been to Tequila Mockingbird many times at this location and their other, I must say our most recent visit was very disappointing. I'd like to start by saying their other location is fantastic, however I'm not sure what happened to this one. The house margaritas and waiting staff were extremely friendly. The food was certainly lacking, as was the cleanliness of our table when we sat down. My wife ordered the fajitas which she enjoyed, but the burrito had an off putting taste as did the nachos. We ordered nachos as a starter and everything came out at once. I will say, if they can match the level of service and quality from their newer location, this would easily be another 5 start review. read more

The food was excellent but the screaming child was not. When we arrived, the boy's parents received their check and paid it. Shortly thereafter, the boy started to scream and after a few minutes of this, his father took their infant daughter out of the restaurant while the mother and the 3 or 4 year old boy stayed. The boy continued to scream at the top of his lungs and walk back and forth on the booth's seat. This went on for almost 30 minutes while the staff members sat 3 tables away watching. We've been to Ocean City for years with the family, but this was our first visit to Tequila Mockingbird. Great name by the way - the restaurant also has a store that sells merchandise and I may have to go back to purchase a shirt. Upon arriving, we were told that it'd be a five minute wait, which was accurate. The service was friendly and prompt. Only one basket of chips and salsa are allotted, and there after you are charged which is a bummer. The salsa is authentic and fresh. They do not offer a margarita pitcher option, so my husband and I each had a single house margarita. I would say they were subpar at best. A little too sugary for my taste. My daughter loved her quesadilla, but tbt Mexican rice was the worst I've ever had - it tasted more like a bad rice pilaf. LOVED checking this spot out! I mean, when I read that they had the largest tequila library on the east coast, how could I NOT go, lol. They have over 300 tequilas and mezcals available, and they serve yum Mexican food? What's not to love! So, here's what we got: ground beef enchiladas ($18.25), really tasty and served with a side of rice and beans! chicken fajitas with a side of guac ($22.99 + extra $3 for the guac). BIG portions, and the fajitas came out sizzling. 10/10 recommend, and you can definitely share because they give you a lot of food El Diablo salsa - if you're big into spicy, give this a try! It's reallllly good but HOT HOT so consider yourself warned, lol. I wanted to get dessert, but we got there kind of late so the kitchen closed if you guys try their tequila funnel fries before I get to go again, please let me know how they are. After a long morning of traveling all we wanted was a good frozen cocktail and this place hit the spot! My mom got a blue dog marg and I had the frozen parrot head marg- they were both tasty. We split queso to start which was a HUGE portion size and very creamy. We also split the Popeyes enchilada with refried beans and the tequila funnel fries. Even splitting everything we still took majority home. The enchiladas were in a black bean sauce. The tequila fries were good but didn't taste any tequila so they were basically just funnel fries but they came with a strawberry dipping sauce that tasted like captain crunch's oops all berries and it surprisingly meshed well with the fries. It was ok. Thought the price was high. My daughter had the tortilla soup. It was very salty. I will say our server was really good and on top of things. I'd go back for the drinks. Their salsa is large chunks of tomato and small diced onjons.I'm not a fan of that type of salsa, but that's just a personal preference. I know many others probably like that. I got a $2 chicken taco for taco Tuesday. It was good but nothing spectacular. The chicken seemed to be just grilled and wasn't marinated or have any spices added to it. Again, it was fine but didn't stand out. I got an order of chicken enchiladas. Instant rice, refried beans out of a can, chewy chicken, bowl of diced tomato's for the salsa, melted block of velvet-a for the $10 Queso. I don't mind paying for good food but for this kind of quality with entries being $20 was wild.
