Best restaurant in Phoenix hands down let alone best Indian restaurant in the state. Great service, knowledgeable friendly staff. Must try.

Being a member of ITC, i was very excited to come here and try their most famous dishe - Dal Bukhara!! (and it def did justice for those who have a nostalgia for that dish!) Been here twice, so posting what dishes and experience we had... Our first experience was AMAZING! the hostess was wonderful and even though we came 30 mins before the last call, she did not rush us into ordering and was very patient with our order. Our second experience service wise was slow and disappointing, taking by some male. We ordered the drinks, which were really good.. the cocktails were amazing especially the Lychee one and so were the mocktails!! The nonveg here is always always outstanding, the naans were spectacular, the tomato soup was a pleasent surprise and the chutneys have their own little twist (I'd order the starters just for the chutneys!) if you are the kinds who likes fish and chips, do try the Amritsari fish, and if you visit here and go without trying the DAL BUKHARA, youve done injustice to yourself and your guests!!! I do wish they include Galouti Kebabs to the nonveg section! Ambience is cute and classy. A good spot for a date night, celebration or just a family/friends gathering!

We were in Chandler for some work and decided to finally try Bahara, a place we've been hearing about for a while. Being from the subcontinent, we know our food well - and yes, we're picky ... but we wanted to give this spot a fair try. Ambience (5/10): The interiors are... fine. Not over the top, not shabby just comfortably in the middle. There's a beautiful Ganesha statue at the entrance, which I loved, but overall the ambience felt more like a casual, family-style lunch/brunch place. If you're planning to dress up for a date or a special outing, this may not be the setting you'd want. What We Ordered: * Palak Patta Chaat * Dal Bukhara * Lamb Seekh Kebab * Rogan Naan * Murghandi Biryani Food: * Palak Patta Chaat: Good portion size but personally not for me. It was unlike any version I've ever had - spinach stuffed inside a gram-flour fritter, then covered with sweet yogurt, tamarind, and chana. The textures and flavors just didn't work for my palate. * Dal Bukhara: I'm not a dal makhani/dal bukhara person, but my husband is. Even he found it strictly okay - a 5/10 at best. We've definitely had better. * Lamb Seekh Kebab + Rogan Naan: The highlight of the meal. Flavorful seekh and the naan paired beautifully with it. * Murghandi Biryani: Boneless chicken, but we barely found two pieces. The server took it back and insisted the dish contains four to five pieces. We didn't want to argue, so we let it go. * Dal Issue: The dal had a surprisingly large amount of white rice mixed in, which made us wonder about freshness. The server acknowledged it immediately, apologized, and removed it from the bill. * Accompaniments: The Bahara raita, pickled onions, and carrot pickle served with the biryani were actually lovely. Service: They close at 2:30 PM and we walked in at 2:10 PM on a Friday. The host immediately told us to place our entire order at once - a bit abrupt to hear at the door, but we understood the logic. Once seated, the service was attentive. Our server acknowledged issues promptly and Kamal, the manager, personally stepped in with great service recovery, including a complimentary dessert, which we appreciated. Pricing: Our bill came to about $82 (without tip) even after the dal was removed. On a regular day, this easily lands in the $90-95 range. Not cheap, but not outrageous either. Overall: Warm Indian hospitality, attentive service, and genuinely kind staff. Food, however, felt average for the most part - with the seekh kebab being the real winner of the meal. Ambience is okay but not something I'd rave about. Maybe it was an off day, but based on this visit, I'd call Bahara decent but not exceptional.

Went here last night for dinner. Great first upscale feel as you enter the restaurant. Unique classy ambience. Overall that excitement faded away as moved along with our dinner experience here. Overall mixed feelings about the dishes. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: Ordered 2 cocktails and 1 mocktail to start with. Both cocktails felt so light with the alcohol. Infact the mocktail seemed to be the most appealing here. Tandoori platter - well that was good, everything juicy and tender, however got a sand bite with the veggies underneath the meats for at least 2 times. Now mutton rogan josh was too good, one of the best on the table. Disappointing part was the chicken handi biryani and the naan. Both were below average. Biryani lacked flavors and the rice was chewy, it seemed like biryani that was not fresh and stale for long enough. There were a masala flavors that seemed a little un-cooked. So overall 2 dishes that tasted great and other 2 that were disappointing. The owner/chef stopped by at our place 2 times asking about food and that give a nice experience boost. He seemed passionate about biryani cooking for 3.5 hours and some 100+ they do on daily basis, however unfortunately biryani was the most disappointing of all we ordered. Service: The server was very good. Provided asked details well and was great in communication. However, after the seating there was a good delay before we were taken care. Even the water came after some 10-15 mins to the table. The restaurant was crowded and it maybe the staff to customer ratio problem since they have a ton of seating. Ambiance: Great upscale feel in an Indian restaurant. Hygiene: Everything seemed clean including table, plates, & restrooms. Price: It maybe a little more comparative to the usual Indian restaurants, but you are paying for the experience here. I would not go here every day but wouldn't mind being here to try other dishes.

So we came to Bahaara Indian Kitchen for our first time. Never tried this place before. We typically go to another favorite Indian food place near our house. Most reviews are positive, but we did read a couple that were not so positive. I must say the ambience, service, and the food were fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised with the greeting, the look of the restaurant, and then our server, Kamal. He was wonderful. He encouraged us to try the Indian beer Kingfisher to experience the full immersion into Indian food. We had Palak paneer, shrimp curry, butter chicken, and another type of paneer curry. The rice was fantastic, not sure where all the other negative reviews came from. But we will be back. All the way around, the naan was fantastic and I loved all the flavors. Happy this place is here. We will be back.

A new fine dine Indian restaurant on the block and hits all the right spots for a restaurant. The place has ample seating, great ambiance and vibe. Service is a little laid back, so it let's you unwind and have food in peace but isn't very slow either, which is perfect. The place was very busy so it was a bit too noisy but the food, delicious. The broccoli soup was outstanding. Highly recommend. And the mushroom tikkas were great too. The highlight for me was the Kathal Biryani, which is apparently all made in the pot. So delicious and the chef was kind enough to drop by at each table and enquire about the food. So added that extra bit of personal touch and not to forget their fresh pickles were delicious!

Enjoyed a fun date night this weekend at Bahaara Indian Kitchen! It was a busy night for the restaurant but we were seated promptly for our reservation. The food was amazing, ordered the butter chicken, lamb Rogan Josh with saffron rice and variety of naan and paratha. I loved everything especially the lamb Rogan Josh, flavorful and tender! For drinks, we ordered mango lassi which is always great. The bahaara sour cocktail was tasty as well. Our server Eroj was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us recommendations. Hope to come back again soon!

Great food, came out steaming hot. Wonderful flavor. The manager stopped by to share a smile and ask if we were doing well. Side note: the main courses do not come with rice, you will need to order it separately. We ordered medium and the spice level was more to a mild, but the flavor was spot on. We did need to ask for knives to cut the meat. Unfortunately, getting our check has taken quite a while, which normally would be fine, however, we had been done eating for a while and ready to go.

Not your typical Indian restaurant -- but not quite there yet This new Indian restaurant opened its doors last week. A very aesthetically done interiors, there's freshness to this place. It's modern, upscale and well designed. We went on a Saturday at 8:30pm for a dinner, it was a little late but since the closing time was 10:00pm we thought it would be fine. The service is rather slow, we get its new but to our late realization it was not worth the wait for a food for hours. Drinks: They have a specialized drink menu and everything sounded delicious. We went with go goa gone and a cardamonk. The drinks tasted really good with exotic flavors but the alcohol was not balanced and felt light. Starters: For appetizers we went with tandoori platter. It took about 30min, the presentation is really well done. The chicken, sheek kebab, paneer tasted spot on. The chutneys were a steal. In no time we ordered the entrees and the wait starts . We literally waited 1hr for dal, a chicken lababdar and naan. Mains: Sitting in front of empty plates, killing our hunger, keeping our young children entertained, seeing people leave, it wasn't enjoyable. It made the whole experience really bad. It was honestly not worth the wait. The food was served at 10:10pm and we were offered free dessert, the owner came and spoke to us, gave his apologies. A very nice gesture and totally appreciate. But, honestly it won't give back the time and the lost experience. Lastly food is good, portion less since it's upscale, pricing higher, service slower than a snail. Unless someone has 2-3 hrs to spend waiting for food at a restaurant I would suggest to avoid till they get a hang of the crowd.

    Non Vegetarian Platter

Amazing food, great ambience and excellent service. We had the non vegetarian platter. 5 out of 5!!

Refined and flavorful Indian food done right. The Dal Bukhara was rich, creamy, and perfectly slow-cooked, and the chickpea curry was hearty and well-balanced. Parathas were warm, flaky, and excellent with everything. Great service and an upscale but comfortable vibe -- definitely worth a visit.

Went for a family dinner to celebrate parents anniversary and we ordered several items off the menu. Appetizers: palak patta chaat (ordered again bc it was great!), gol gappe (I'd pass on this as the flavors weren't there) and the galouti kabob which were decent for me but good for others. The reshmi kabob (chicken) was cooked really well & tasted good. Main dishes: Dal Bhukhara (it was good like a dal makhani), paneer lababdar (had better at a wedding), bhindi masala (was liked by others but I didn't have) and butter chicken (which was really good). We ordered a roomali roti (nice and thin), garlic naan (soft and tasty but wish it had cilantro too), and a chili naan (wish it had more chilis on it). Drinks were ok and the mocktails are not worth the price (one tasted like grape juice for $10). Service was good. They start you with small plates and utensils and then swap it all out for dinner plates and utensils and even do a neat table service of hand towel to wash. I started with a 5* review at first but later changing to a 4* after thinking of the other foods I listed above. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the place. Can it improve, yes... but it's fairly priced for being considered "upscale Indian" with most plates being under $20, and all the ones we got were under $20, including the breads were $5 and less. I'll be back to try other dishes. Chef also stopped by to say hi and ask how we liked the food. They gave 2 large gulab jamuns for the anniversary and they were not bad, could've been warmer.

Absolutely beautiful décor and spotless ambience - 10/10 for presentation and cleanliness. Service was polite and efficient (8/10). But as a Desi diner, I found the food underwhelming for the price. Taste was average at best (7/10), and portions were extremely small (4/10). Nothing comes with the mains - rice and roti are all extra. Two small dishes, one rice, one roti = nearly $100 for two people. That's steep. The golgappa (panipuri) was hard and bland - honestly disappointing. Most reviews seem written by folks unfamiliar with Indian food; Desi customers might find the value and authenticity lacking. I'm not trying to be harsh - just sharing an honest experience from the table. Beautiful place, but I walked out hungry and feeling overcharged.
