We both ordered the Devarayas Grand Thali Special which came with all the protein options (Shrimp, Fish, Chicken, Mutton/Lamb Curries, and Fried Chicken). I really love trying a little of everything so the Thali was the way to go! It's served with white rice, your choice of Chapati (tortilla consistency carb) or Poori (fluffy fried carb), Raitha (sour yogurt), what seemed to be potato salad (which I think was Kuruma Curry), Bagara rice (which was a little sweet to me), and a cinnamon-y dessert. I also got the Mango Lassi (mango yogurt drink) which came in clutch because the Chicken Curry was actually pretty spicy, it definitely helped neutralize the heat. I was so happy to be able to try a lot of the curries available, my favorites were the Shrimp and the Fish. I never had Kuruma Curry before (the potato one) but I actually really enjoyed that one too. My boyfriend's favorite was the Chicken Curry because it was authentically spicy which was reminiscent of his South Indian coworker's cooking. The service here is on point, I want to say 6 or 7 different workers came by to ask if we wanted refills on any of the curries, to offer us more food (we also got a donut-like carb), or to make sure we were good. This was a really fun experience, I'd definitely recommend trying it!

I am also quite…read morepicky and careful with giving 5 stars ratings typically and was truly excited about this place after my first visit. However, when we came back so excited for more it was a weird experience here. We came at 5pm especially to try the banana Bajji listed as an option between 5pm-7pm only to be told it's not available. Then tried to order the Kara Kuzhambu with the lentil dumplings and told lentil dumplings not available anymore only okra/ eggplant option for this. The restaurant vibe felt really odd in general. We kind of felt like they weren't sure if they wanted to be open right now or something. The tables were not clean from lunch and they didn't get back to us when we asked questions. We decided to leave and come back another time given the great first experience. The next day, we decided to try again at lunch when the restaurant seems to do most of the business and I called to double check they have the Kara Kuzhambu with eggplant/ okra options just in case and two people seemed to have no idea what I am talking about. I spelled it, explained it's on the menu and it's a tamarind based curry- nothing. The dish I tried here before was very good and I really appreciate that their menu is marked for allergies and different diets. It seems to be very popular among Indian people and a fun cultural experience at weekend brunch/ lunch. However, the service felt really weird and unwelcoming this time and with the dishes listed on the menu but not being available it was a let down. The waiter told us the banana bajji and the lentil dumplings were discontinued completely so it was a bummer they are still listed on the menu. This confusing and unwelcoming exprience led to a big rating difference from me even though I really liked the food I tried in my first visit as well as the atmosphere. Still happy for that super fun first memory here though! My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

(Lots of take out tho!) Very clean (incl bathroom) and organized. Loved the music and the tv they had on with Bollywood. We were greeted right away and checked on frequently. He was very patient with us and answered our questions kindly The butter naan was so fresh and soft, the plain dosa was just as expected plus yummy sauces. The tandoori chicken was soooo flavorful and juicy! I loved the cabbage on bottom, but grab it quick because it will get burnt! (See video!) we got the kadai chicken medium spice and we overestimated ourselves haha tasty but too spicy for us (We have lower tolerances to spice) so we will go with mild next time, chicken still flavorful and tender. To help with the spice my bf got a mango lassi, worked like a charm, it was well balanced, tasted fresh, and not too sweet. Ps there's plenty of vege options We absolutely cannot wait to come back and i recommend you make this your next stop, worth the drive!

The interior is pretty spacious and has a nice waiting area. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the following: Paneer Tikka Masala $14.99 Garlic Naan $3.99 The paneer tikka masala came with grilled paneer cubes in a creamy tomato-based sauce. It was rich and flavorful. It also came with a side of rice which was nice. The garlic naan was soft, fluffy, and the perfect accompaniment to the tikka masala. It had plenty of garlic which I love. Prices were reasonable. I would order from Panchakattu again if I'm back in the area!

Star of India -- A 20-Year Love Affair…read more I've been eating at Star of India for over two decades, and it remains hands-down the best Indian restaurant in Arizona. I've had Indian food all over the world, and this place is in a class of its own. Yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall -- nothing fancy about the space -- but that's part of the charm. What matters is what comes out of the kitchen, and it's incredible. I'm a creature of habit there: the Paneer is always perfect, the Malai Kofta is creamy and delicious, and their Chicken Tikka Masala is exactly what it should be. The samosas are crispy and flavorful, and a cold Mango Lassi is the perfect way to finish a meal. But the real secret? Prete, the owner. He's not just nice -- she genuinely cares about every person who walks through that door. After 20+ years, I'm not just a customer; he treats me like family. That kind of hospitality is rare and it shows in everything she does. If you're looking for authentic Indian food with heart, don't let the humble exterior fool you. Star of India will not disappoint. It's become my standard for what great Indian food should be.

Not Recommended: food just OK, inconsistent service, and cleanliness concerns…read more We'd driven by this restaurant several times and finally decided to give it a try. Before going, we checked Yelp and were encouraged by its 4.0-star rating. Food Three of us ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, and Garlic Naan. Unfortunately, even though we arrived right at opening, they were already out of both of their popular biryanis. The garlic naan was decent but nothing memorable. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken were both flavorful with a nice spice level. The Chicken Vindaloo was another story. While the sauce was good, the chicken itself tasted "off"--not spoiled, but old enough that I chose not to finish it. Cleanliness After our meal, I noticed that the restaurant had received five violations on its most recent county health inspection, conducted about a month ago. While I can't say whether that had anything to do with the chicken, it certainly didn't inspire confidence. The restroom was even more concerning. The sinks and toilets were dirty, both towel dispensers were empty, and the odor suggested it hadn't been cleaned recently. A neglected restroom doesn't leave a good impression about the overall operation. Service On the positive side, the owner/chef was friendly and happy to chat with us. Unfortunately, the rest of the service was disappointing. We spent about 2 1/2 hours there despite being the only dine-in customers, although there were several DoorDash pickups. Our server rarely smiled or engaged with us, spoke so quietly that we often had to ask her to repeat herself, never offered to refill our water glasses, and initially brought a single check after we'd requested two separate checks. She corrected it after we pointed out the mistake. Atmosphere The dining room is attractively decorated and has a pleasant ambiance. Value Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo were each $15.99, and the Garlic Naan was $3.99. Overall Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues, slow and inattentive service, and disappointing Vindaloo outweighed the positives. With so many good Indian restaurants in the area, I can't recommend Passage to India and won't be returning.

Takeout needed and this place has always caught my eye. They share a parking lot with Sprouts so I've been wanting to stop in. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala ($19.99) and the Khatti Dal ($10.99) for takeout. First of all, that chicken tikka masala was fire. It was aromatic, fragrant, and the spice level was perfect. The khatti dal on the other hand, it wasn't for me. Not to say it was bad, I just didn't quite care for it. Since it was a takeout order, I can't comment too much about the service but this place is massive. Plenty of seating, lots of parking, and great food. I would definitely order from here again.

Authentic Jamaican served right in Chandler AZ. We were warmly welcomed upon entering the establishment. After weighing various options on an extensive menu. My wife opted Bone in brown stew chicken with a side of rice & beans and festivals. The wait for the food to served was reasonable given that it was apparent it had been made fresh upon being served. The fish was deliciously seasoned and lightly breaded. The escovitch sauce was the perfect complement for both the fish and the cabbage. My wife's bone in brown stew chicken was amazing as well the chicken was so tender it was falling off the bone and was perfectly seasoned. The gravy for the stew was plentiful and added an additional taste when added to the beans and rice. Portions were large with enough leftovers for another meal when we finished eating. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly with a consistent flow of carryout orders and dine-in customers. I would highly recommend Ocean Blue Caribbean and look forward to our next visit.
