My experience with Bagelsaurus wasn't bad but it wasn't anything memorable either. My recommendation: just get a normal bagel with cream cheese instead of sandwich . The bagels are delicious and I probably would've given 4 stars if I was just reviewing them. But the sandwich combinations weren't anything amazing to me and were pretty pricey. I am no bagel connoisseur, but if I am going to eat a bagel, this is where I am going. A few things to note: it is a small space & lines get loooong. If you can make it during the weekday or non-peak hours you will have a smoother experience--or calling ahead for pickup helps with efficiency. Parking on mass ave is parking on mass ave, it is less than two blocks from the Porter t-stop--I would say that is your best bet. It's the chewy-ness that got me. The outside is lightly crunchy the inside is warm and doughy. The honey rosemary cream cheese is like nothing I have ever found before, it's lightly sweet and makes even a plain bagel feel like a delicacy. Yum. The prices are sneaky high. The "Classic Jumbo" is $6 but by the time you add bacon and avocado (it would be a crime to not?) it is $9.65. Maybe not your 'every-day' bagel stop but your 'treat yo self' bagel place? Awwwww this is the stuff! Good bagels are so hard to come by I am constantly on a bagel hunt whenever I land on the east coast. This place has a food truck in some farmer's market as well but I'm happy to find its brick and mortar store. They have some fantastic bagel sandwich creations, but just a plain old bagel in your favourite flavour with cream cheese should be more than enough to convince you. Delicious bagels and bagel sandwiches! They are quite chewy (my jaw sometimes hurts after eating while bagel) lol but I digress. The sea salt with honey rosemary is worth it. I've had the T-Rex sans bacon as well and they do not skimp on the almond butter. The BF's go to is the Classic Jumbo on sea salt or cheddar bagel. We noticed if you don't get meat on the jumbo they add more of the delicious mustard butter which is a plus. These guys' bagels, albeit a bit chewy, are delicious and are made fresh on location. Their toppings, spreads, and variety of bagels are top notch. While the space they're in isn't very big, they've done a solid job managing what they have between the back kitchen, the prep area, a condiment stand, seating for approximately 14-16 people, and a relatively orderly, although slow-moving line. But that's almost standard for a local, small, independent business. I frequent Bagelsaurus once per month when I'm willing to go through the aforementioned, and I absolutely suggest it to others looking for a scrumptious bagel / bagel sandwich, too. read more

Don't go here if you've ever had a proper bagel before, you will be dissapointed... We came in at noon for a bagel with lox and cream cheese. No line, but they let us know they don't have lox, they have something called "hot smoked salmon". That was indicator #1 considering they were charging nova lox prices. The salmon tasted like it was straight out of a can - if it wasn't, they should consider going that route because it tasted just as cheap anf nasty. The bagel was tough, almost impossible to bite through. It was like trying to bite through leather. The salt bagel I chose was disappointing and the salt was basically dissolved on the bagel. It was very expensive, $25 for 2 bagels, orange juice, and coffee. It seems the kids like this place, but I have to assume it's because they don't know any better. Oh man. While visiting Boston, I just couldn't contain my excitement when I saw a review asking for this place to come to NYC. BECAUSE that means that I finally have found an almost, pretty close NYC bagel. Ever since going to school there and moving away, I have searched for another delicious bagel place. Hands down the best bagels in Boston (and probably anywhere outside of NYC)! I mean that's really as simple as it gets. If you've never been before, you have to try the sea salt bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese. If you've looking for a breakfast sandwich, I recommend the Eggspanola on an everything bagel. The coffee is from La Colombe (based in Philly) which is a nice touch on their part and the fresh squeezed OJ from Natalie's is a must. Everything at Bagelsaurus is amazing, right down to the logo. Get there early to make sure they don't run out and avoid weekends between 10-12 because there will almost certainly be a line. read more

Where do I even begin... Sure, the lines on the weekend can be long. There aren't many tables for seating. And the size is small so it can get pretty cramped. I'd say it's totally worth the wait. I got a classic jumbo with bacon and roasted tomatoes (thanks for various reviews that stressed the importance of the bacon & tomatoes) on a sea salt bagel. The shell of the bagel is incredibly crispy - almost as if it were fried. The inside is somewhat chewy and soft. The egg was the best part - I was surprised to see a runny yet solid yolk that did not overflow and wet the wrap. I actually took the sandwich back home to eat, before which I stopped at the grocery store. It was still really yummy when I opened it some 30min after it was made. Worth waiting in line! We tend to wake up late and get there around noon so most flavors are sold out but all of the flavors are so good we rarely mind. My favorite bagels include the black olive, egg, and salt. Spicy cream cheese and veggie cream cheese are delicious. Bagels remind me of NY bagels. Amazing local institution. The owner really cares about the institution and the shop churns out great bagels. As a New Yorker I was a bit skeptical of Cambridge bagels but black sheep and Bagelasurus have proven me wrong. Bagelsaurus takes a more sourdough approach to the bagels and creates wonderful breakfast sandwiches. I went to Bagelsaurus two days straight while I was in town. That's how good it was. The first day I went, I got there probably an hour after opening, so the line wasn't too bad. The next day was pretty soon after opening time, and the line was down the street. I still waited. The beet hummus wasn't my favorite, but the classic jumbo sandwich with avocado really hit the spot. All the yelp haters and curmudgeons who hate this place all have one thing in common: they like a certain type of bagel. This isn't the flour-y, cardboardy bagel we've all come to settle for in poor, sad, bagel-less Boston. It's chewy (almost so much that your mouth can sometimes hurt), salty, airy, and fresh. It's different from the norm we're accustomed to and I think that upsets people, but I for, one, think these are the most delicious bagels I've ever had. Highly recommend a bagel with cream cheese and add the roasted tomatoes. Amazing. The best part about these bagels is that you don't get that brick-in-your-stomach feeling after you eat it. Because they are so fresh they don't sit with you and make you feel like a gross human for enjoying one of life's simple pleasures. The missing one star is for the line. Im right in between 4-5 stars on this place. Finally checked it out after hearing about it from a few people. Luckily when i went in there was almost no line. Its a simple modern small place, music was good (props on the alternative). There were a few things on the menu i wanted to try.. and probably should not have went starving. Ended up getting the turkey rachael on an everything bagel and cold brew iced tea. Cost was $12. It was reallyyyy good. The bagel and all the ingredients were fresh and top notch. Like everyone says crispy on the outside and doughy chewy on the inside. Also, props on the iced tea. I dont drink coffee so this was perfect. I guess my only complaint is the prices are sneaky high and I left hungry. Almost ordered another sandwich but coundnt justify the cash. Will be back to try more though. i honestly think this place is overrated. since it's far from where i live, i got a caviar delivery for half dozen of their bagels. The bagels are super dry and hard to chew and swallow... especially after trying the bagels from brooklyn bagel in NYC, the contrast made it even harder to be satisfied by bagels from bagelsaurus... Maybe i was expecting too much after reading all the awesome reviews...If you live in the city, just go to Levend Bagelry in BPM, they offer much better bagels. read more

There's a lot of hype with this place. Long lines, I'm not entirely sure it is worth the wait. It is one of the better bagels in the the Boston Metro area. And the sandwiches are delicious. There is a bit of inconsistency in the bagels. One day they're perfect, another day they're too chewy and rubbery... Not sure what's going on. I've only ever gone on a Saturday around 1:30 -2 pm when the line has died down a bit. There still are no seats, so don't bother, unless its a weekday. They only have 3-4 two seater tables. The branding is crazy cute though, I want a tshirt. And the staff are super friendly and not pissy if you customize a sandwich. so A++ for customer service.
