Especially when the rude girl at the cashier curtly asks for a tip when the bill total is rung up yet refuses to even acknowledge a simple basic question about the nutrient profile of the food being served. She completely ignored that I was even speaking with her - and when card didn't go through first time as I tried to leave her a tip - she called for me to redo the payment. And this time no tip. Because she absolutely did not deserve it with that rotten attitude. Too bad. Food was decent enough. I'm never going back though. It wasn't very crowded when we came in here on a Sunday morning and I didn't want a full on meal or anything because I planned to take my bagel next door with me to Off the Waffle (pro tip: this is a good idea) as an appetizer. Pro-tip: if you want the Pearl sandwich, it's cheaper to custom build it yourself ($6.20) then it is to order the sandwich ($7.99). I don't appreciate that the menu items are set up to make you pay more than a custom order. My gf ordered a bagel with cream cheese, lox, tomato, onion, capers, and we were asked if we wanted the Pearl sandwich. We ended up being charged more than the custom sandwich. I refuse to patron businesses that unjustly charge customers this way. I brought this to the employee's attention, but was not offered a refund of the price difference. I was visiting a friend in Oregon and she recommended this place. She had already given a disclaimer that their other location was better. I got sausage, egg, and cheddar cheese on a jalapeno bagel, they asked if I wanted it toasted, I said yes. I don't know if the bagel was toasted but I noticed the bagel didn't have a good chew at all. The second bagel I got was a garlic bagel with garlic artichoke cream cheese, the spread was a little thin, and this bagel seemed stale in texture with lack of crunch. My friend from Oregon asked for double toasted and said that her bagel didn't seem like it was toasted at all. The food is good, but their customer service is lacking. First time I came in, I wanted a bagel with lox, and the associate made a big thing about forcing me to look at the menu, instead of just realizing that I wanted the Alder Smoked Salmon without he bells and whistles. She definitely could have made that easier. Second time in was flawless, very nice associate, good food, etc... and now, the third time, I'm having another mediocre experience due to the fact that I needed to use the restroom and the associate gave me a dead eye look and referred me to another person who was already helping someone so I had to wait. Pretty sure she could have just walked over and grabbed the key herself or informed me of the reason she couldn't. Edit: wrote this review as I was waiting for my bagel, it arrives with 3 capers on one half and 4 on the other, when my husband asked for more we were told "it's policy to only put 5 on each side" which is funny because bother previous times my bagel was sprinkled with them. Either way, no consistency. Edit: called and spoke to Candace the supervisor about my concerns and she pretty much dismissed me and called me "dear" of all the condescending and unprofessional things. I used to go to the Corvallis Bagel Sphere, eons ago. Too bad they closed and never re-opened somewhere else after the building they were in was torn down. I only went to the Eugene location one time but it was the same menu (or very close). I never, ever had a bad experience there, never had to wait in line, it was always very fast and affordable. The bagels were, far and away, the best in town. They did them exactly right. Texture, taste, everything. I used to buy them by the baker's dozen - although I do remember times when I'd get caught in the rain and if they were in a paper bag, I was doomed (yeah one time they fell out all over the sidewalk, I forgot my umbrella!) I have never liked the infinitely more popular Noah's/Einstein's and have never understood why they are so popular! There's a right and wrong way to make bagels and some places just make these doughy bagels that just seem like kid's food. Bagel Sphere does it right!! I wish they were down here in Los Angeles. I ordered and paid for a bagel to be heated with cream cheese. The employee making bagels was talking to another employee, while they were talking the employee was rubbing her nose, fixing her hair, putting things in the garbage can but never washed her hands or had on gloves. I saw her grab my bagel , no gloves, never washed her hands and started preparing my bagel. At this point I left the store without asking for a refund, I'm the Don who left the bagel. I love bagels, but please remind your employees to wash their hands because every employee at that store goes to the bathroom, handles money, cleans and put items in the garbage and prepares food, see the connection. If they use gloves, have them change the gloves as needed and please wash your hands. read more

So many choices of bagels. They were great toasted. Nice and chewy. The cream cheese were the highlight. I had herb and artichoke. It had pieces of artichoke which was great. The last three times I have gone to bagel sphere have not been as pleasant as they have gone in the past. Granted I used to go to the W. 11th location. When in sometime last year and got tuna melt from the Willamette location and they forgot my sprouts. When in last week sometime to get the same tuna melts with sprouts and they forgot it. Made a point to the lady that brought me my bagel that my Sprouts were not there, and she gave me a free sandwich or mail for next visit. Go in there this morning excited to get my tuna melt. Got it to go and I was I'm opening my bagel I eat the first half which was delicious. Unravel my second half and there's a long thick black hair melted into my cheese. I don't know why this is a reoccurring thing with me but the Willamette location has not been the most Pleasant. read more

I'm done with Bagel Sphere. My experiences here have gotten increasingly worse and the last time I was in there, I realized I'm done. I ordered an egg bagel with cheese and added avocado for $1 more. They had a few customers but it wasn't too crazy. I went up to grab my order and the woman who made it realized she forgot the avocado and asked if I wanted it on the side. I told her I would prefer to have it on the sandwich so I waited for her to add it on. I took it over to the condiment counter to add salt and pepper and when I opened my sandwich I was disgusted. A brown smear of some sort of mushy guacamole was on the bagel and very little at that. I really wish I had taken a photo but I was so grossed out that I took it back and asked for my money back. Into the garbage they threw it, what a waste. I got my money back and the told me that it's deceiving that it's not sliced avocado and is basically just some sort of green "avocado" spread for $1 more but it sits out and turns brown. The Daily Bagel is SO much better and worth the drive up to Delta Oaks. read more

Split pea soup (not their best batch but flavor was good) and cheddar bagel pictured; you can get soup and a bagel for about $5! I think this place is really great. I didn't give it 5 stars because I've had better bagels and cream cheese, but this place is still delicious. Service was quick. I ordered a tuna lunch bagel on sesame. I really like that they use cream cheese instead of mayo. I also like that they have sprouts, although the day I went in they were out and substituted lettuce (OK with me). The tuna had great flavor, all the ingredients were extremely fresh. I also purchased iced tea, which was made to order. The person making it knew enough to add lots of ice to fresh brewed tea...a quality in a tea maker that is quite hard to find. Everything was reasonably priced. Lobby was clean, plenty of seating. There was also a guy in the lobby playing guitar, which was enjoyable...I was surprised at the acoustics in the building. Staff was extremely friendly, asked how my food was and acknowledged me when I came in. Excellent customer service over all. read more

We were in Eugene for a show and may never be there again, but if we find ourselves there again it won't be at Bagel Sphere during a rush. As a Jew, I'm a self-proclaimed aficionado of bagels. Their bagels, well they're good. Not great, but good. Their service is incredibly slow, I felt like time may have actually stopped while we awaited our bagel breakfast. Alas, I was mistaken, time had not stopped and at least 20 minutes had elapsed. That's just too darn long to wait for a bagel in my book. This location is super convenient to foot and bicycle traffic. They have a nice selection of bagels and other baked goods. Their flavored cream cheese is a bit bland and over-priced. The bagel sandwiches are inconsistent in quality. They seem to run low on bagels pretty early in the afternoon and I find myself struggling to find something that sounds really good. The staff doesn't seem to be well versed in the art of making espresso drinks. I've had the worse tasting latte here. If I'd not been blocks away I would have asked them to fix it. All in all, this is an ok place to grab a quick snack. Just don't have high expectations and you won't be disappointed. read more

Interesting that there are four (4) new reviews for Bagel Sphere, written on the same day. Must be a run on bagels! I thought I'd chime in. It's true that these are some of the better bagels in Eugene, a town which ain't exactly the West Coast New York of bagels - if that makes any sense. The bagels are a good, firm and mostly authentic boiled styled bagel rather than the fluffy, soft mess that often passes for a bagel out here. Their bagel sandwiches, on the other hand, are disappointingly bland. In a hurry to get out of town the other day, I hit up the W. 11th location. The gals working the deli were very sweet and efficient and made my sandwiches in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, the 'wiches were totally flavorless. I ordered the veggie, smothered in cream cheese, avocado and other good stuff, and a tuna melt, and neither really tasted much like anything. You win some, you loose some. read more

I was anticipating my delicious bagel sandwich this morning only to be disappointed. First off, the food itself was good. It just wasn't at all what I ordered. I ordered the veg bagel; comes with cream cheese, onion, tomato, avacado and sprouts or lettuce. I asked them to omit the sprouts/lettuce; the gal asked if I'd like to sub with spinach. I replied, "no, nothing green except the avacado." What I got was no where near my order; all of the above except the avacado! And, the cream cheese was barely visible; pile it up man! Me being the gracious person I am told them just to add the avacado, that I'd live with all the green things. The "cook" gave me a cup of avacado instead. I know, I could've insisted they fix it or make a new one, I just hate wasting food. To top it off my Americano was like warm which is usual for this place. If you want hot coffee go to Dutch Bros! Then when I got to my car to fix my order my coffee tipped resolving the issue of temp. 2 stars for poor order taking and the "cook" not going the extra mile to make it right. read more

I usually get the jalapeño cheese bagel, either as a breakfast sandwich or veggie sandwich. They also some pastries and sometimes premade salads and snacks. Bagels are a simple food, but simple things are tricky because every little detail matters. That's why transplanted Easterners complain about crumbly, soft hamburger buns being passed off as bagels. They have a notion of firm, chewy disks with a shmeer of cream cheese that you need strong jaws and teeth to handle. Bagel Sphere offers pretty good approximations of the classic, and lots of flavor combinations. The texture is still on the soft side, but they make them fresh every day. You can get sandwiches made with them at breakfast or lunch. Coffee must be good at a place like this, and theirs is. If you live or work in downtown, this is a good option. I do like Bagel Sphere, but it still has kinks that need to be worked out. Good: The bagels are better than anything else I've had in the Eugene/Springfield area. There are a number of flavors for both bagel and cream cheese and the store seems to be fairly well stocked with the options no matter what time of day I've been there. The cream cheese flavors are really good. I usually go with the jalapeno, which has a bit of a kick but is never overwhelmingly spicy. Meh: The service is super slow. I'm not sure what takes so much time - when I've been to other bagel places in other cities it takes about half the time. But what do I know, I don't work in a place that sells bagels so maybe there is something super special that takes a while that I just don't know about. Bad: I usually get the onion bagel and today my fiancee got a garlic bagel. Instead of baking the onion/garlic into the bagel, the flavor comes from pieces of onion (or garlic) on top. This forces me to make a difficult decision. I can either a.) not get my bagel toasted or b.) suffer through slightly burnt pieces of onion on top of my bagel. I really wish they would consider some kind of remedy to this problem. I still go here about once a month because I really like bagels and I haven't found another place in Eugene that makes a solid bagel. But I always find myself wishing that the service was a little faster and the bagels were a little tastier. read more

Bagel Sphere makes a Transplanted NY'er VERY HAPPY!!! Orientation is going on this week and we regrettably did IHOP one day and felt like crapolla. I got on yelp and read up about Bagel Sphere and went on Wednesday and I got a toasted Garlic bagel with Lox Spread which happened to be the Cream Cheese special of the day so my bagel was $2 (Still in shock!!!) and my GF got a toasted everything with veggie cream cheese. They have daily coffee specials too and my gf got the Golden Grahams coffee (not sure what all is in it) but she was raving about it. We will definitely be back as the bagels are legit and the coffee pleases my gf immensely. read more

Wasn't crazy about this place. The bagels themselves were on par with ones you can get at the local bakeries. They have a big menu though, so that's a plus. Atmosphere is also nice, and the service is fast & friendly so it'd make a good place to study or something. But again, the bagels were nothing to write home about.
